(hennemusic) INXS guitarist and founding member Tim Farriss has undergone two emergency surgeries to reattach a finger severed in a boating accident last month.

Farris was injured on February 24; the band's label - Petrol Records - has confirmed the incident occurred when the guitarist caught his hand in an electric anchor winch.

"Tim has been treated at the Royal North Shore hospital for a week and is now back at home in recovery," says the label. "The accident has caused permanent damage to Tim's left hand and one of his fingers has been severed. He has undergone two extensive operations to reattach his finger. Tim is now at home undergoing further treatment to assist with his recovery."

"Tim is now home from the hospital with his family and undergoing physiotherapy as part of the recovery process," adds band manager Chris Murphy. "He is getting the best possible care and we hope with time he will regain movement in his finger. This was a terrible accident, we are all here to support him." Read more here.

Gary Glitter Found Guilty Of Sex Crimes Against Children
(Radio.com) British glam-rock pioneer Gary Glitter, famous for his string of hits in the early 1970s including "Do You Wanna Touch Me" and perennial jock jam favorite "Rock and Roll (Parts 1 and 2)," has been convicted for sex crimes against minors during his chart-topping heyday.

According to USA Today, Glitter (real name Paul Gadd) was found guilty in a London court of one count of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13.

The charge of sex with a minor could result in a life sentence for the singer. "Paul Gadd abused his access to young fans in order to give himself the opportunities to assault and abuse his victims," Chief Crown Prosecutor Baljit Ubhey explained. "Crimes such as these have repercussions for victims that can last for a lifetime." Read more here.

Gong and Soft Machine's Daevid Allen Has Six Months To Live
(Classic Rock) Gong icon Daevid Allen has been told he has six months to live as a result of inoperable cancer - and he's told fans he's not going to fight the disease any longer.

The 77-year-old Australian, a founding member of Soft Machine, has asked his followers to begin letting him go. He'd previously undergone surgery to address his illness.

Allen says in a statement: "It is now confirmed that the invading cancer has returned to successfully established dominant residency in my neck. The original surgery took much of it out, but the cancer has recreated itself with renewed vigour, while also spreading to my lung.

"I have now been given approximately six months to live. My view has changed. I am not interested in endless operations. In fact is has come as a relief to know that the end is in sight. I am a great believer in 'The Will of the Way Things Are' and I also believe that the time has come to stop resisting and denying and to surrender to the way it is." Read more here.

Electric Light Orchestra To Perform At The Grammys
(Classic Rock) The Electric Light Orchestra will perform at this year's Grammys ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday, mainman Jeff Lynne has confirmed. They'll appear on the live TV extravaganza alongside AC/DC, Madonna and other big names.

It's more confirmation that Lynne is taking the project seriously again after a cautious return to the stage in London last year. Following ELO's Hyde Park concert he said:

"I was really worried before the show; I was thinking, 'What the hell is it going to be like after all these years?' I thought the crowd would all disperse and go their own sweet way - but they all loved it." Read more here.

The statement reads: "After thinking it over carefully, Peavy and Victor decided to stop working together. This is due to musical and personal changes.

"We have developed in different directions in the last years that we cannot identify with the current band situation any more. In this situation we will also part from drummer Andre Hilgers.

"The last 15 years together were blessed with many highlights and great releases but this era is over now." Read more here.

Anthrax Producer Discusses Band's New Album
(hennemusic) Anthrax are currently in a Los Angeles studio working on a new album, and producer Jay Ruston reveals the band's plans for the project in a new interview with Metal Insider.

"They've been writing songs for well over a year," Ruston tells Metal Insider. "I sat in and helped them record the demos and basically made sure everything was heading in the right direction. Once we hit the point to where they felt they were ready to go, around Thanksgiving, we decided it was time to get going."

"We have 18 songs we're working with that made the cut," he continues. "We're going to try to record everything just to see what turns out the best. Out of those 18 songs, we've got 8 that we're working on."

"I didn't want to get too far ahead, because instead of Joey [Belladonna] coming in and singing a ton of songs, I wanted to break it up a little bit and finish these eight, then start another bunch from scratch, which we'll probably do in March. In the meantime, we're going to finish this first batch." Read more here.

Hoodoo Gurus' Mark Kingsmill Retiring After 30 Years
(hennemusic) The Hoodoo Gurus have announced that drummer Mark Kingsmill will be retiring from the band at the end of March after 30 years of playing with the group.

"Though he still enjoys playing drums, Mark has completely lost his appetite for the endless travelling and the many hours of hotel room boredom," revealed frontman Dave Faulkner. "The physical demands of playing the drums as energetically as he does are also exacting a higher toll on his body than ever before. Really, who can blame him for wanting a change?"

Kingsmill joined the Hoodoo Gurus in 1984 following the dismissal of original drummer and founding member James Baker; he first appeared on the band's second album, 1985's "Mars Needs Guitars!"

"None of us want to see him go and, to be honest, we even contemplated breaking up the band rather than try to replace him," Faulkner continued. "Apart from all the personal upheaval that his retirement entails (yeah, we're gonna really miss him!) there will also be a significant change to the band's musical personality. Mark, like James Baker before him, has a unique style of drumming and no-one else will ever be able to replicate it."

"Inevitably our sound will change - it's up to [guitarist] Brad [Shepherd], [bassist] Rick [Grossman] and I to make sure that the next person is as inspirational a player as Mark has always been, and that we don't diminish as a band. That will be no mean feat but, trust us, we will not settle for anything less than someone we feel is a perfect fit." Read more here.

Incubus Return With New Single 'Absolution Calling'
(Radio.com) Incubus appeared on Los Angeles radio station KROQ on Thursday morning to discuss the premiere their new track, "Absolution Calling", the first single from their upcoming EP.

"It started with a bass riff I think," recalled singer Brandon Boyd, who stopped by KROQ's Kevin & Bean Show (KROQ is a CBS Radio station) this morning with fellow bandmates Jose Pasillas, Michael Einziger and Chris Kilmore.

"Actually, Brandon was in Bali, in a land far away," explained Einziger. 'He had to leave on this trip so we were like, let's just try to make studio magic while he was gone so we started sending him idea. All four of us were in the studio jamming. That song just came out of us all in the studio improvising. It was like, oh wait, what's that? Oh cool. And it just evolved."

While the song will be available Friday on iTunes, the band will release a four song EP titled, Trust Fall: Side A on March 24. A follow-up will come after that with a release date yet to be announced.

'We've always made albums," Boyd said. We've always done the 10-or-more thing and we grew up with that, like many people in the world. But I think people under 30 don't really have that in their consciousness anymore and that's fine." Read more and listen to the song here.

Tiles Recruit Mike Portnoy, Ian Anderson For New Album
(TeamRock Radio) Mike Portnoy has joined Ian Anderson and others in making a guest appearance on the upcoming double album from Tiles. The US prog outfit have confirmed their sixth record will now be called Pretending To Run, after it became a far more complex project than they'd originally envisaged.

Among those also appearing are Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree), Adam Holzman (Steven Wilson) Kim Mitchell (Max Webster) and Mike Stern (Miles Davis).

Anderson - who appears at the inaugural Ramblin' Man Fair in Kent in July - last year accepted a long-standing invitation to guest with Tiles, after he'd become a fan in 1999. The album was known as Other Arrangements at that stage.

Herin said at the time: "We sent Ian a moody atmospheric tune, and he wove some cool melodies in between vocal phrases - then cut loose with his trademark improvisation during the rideout solo. I think I listened to it 20 times to make sure it really happened." Read more here.

Metallica Classic Gets Master of Sock Puppets Makeover
(Banana 101.5) We've seen sock puppets parodying Slayer and hailing Santa in a black metal Christmas parody. Now the sock puppets are taking on the Metallica classic 'Master of Puppets.'

Under the clever name Lintallica, the sock puppets offer up such lyrics as "End of laundry day / Folding me away / Lost in the depths within this dresser / No other stripe in sight / Begin this lonely fight / Mismatched sock with just one purpose."

Even more hilarious is the chorus, which now goes off as, "Get glue that's Krazy / Googly eyes look lazy / Get glue that's Krazy / Yarn hair looks amazing / 'Mazing."

Radiohead's Selway Gives Update On New Album
(Prog) Radiohead drummer Philip Selway says that the band's ninth album is "coming along nicely" - although he can not predict how it is going to play out.

The band started working on the follow-up to 2010's The King Of Limbs in September. They took a break at the end of last year to concentrate on their various solo projects, but return to work next month.

Selway tells Drowned In Sound: "We'll make an assessment of where we are then. But we've been excited about what we've been doing so far - it's been a productive time."

Asked about the nature of the material he says: "There might be a core thing eventually, but we come at it from a number of angles. You don't really know ultimately what's the strongest intention until we've finished."

And he won't be drawn on a release schedule, noting: "You can find yourself six months down the line saying, 'I wish I hadn't said that, actually.'" Read more here.

Funeral For A Friend Featured In Latest Ghosts On The Road Episode
(TeamRock Radio) Welsh rockers Funeral For A Friend are the latest band to feature on FreqsTV's Ghosts On The Road mini-series. Previous artists to appear on the series which aims to give an intimate portrait go what life on tour is like include At The Gates, Gotthard and Protest The Hero.

In the short film, frontman Matthew Davies-Kreye talks about meeting fans, giving interviews to the media and working their touring schedule around family commitments.

He says: "You never really get the chance to experience the place you're in fully - you're always moving around when you're there. You've got to set up and all the things that come with being in a band when you release a record especially: press and talking to people. You're always focused on something else you have to focus on pretty quickly." Read more and watch the episode here.

Bob Dylan Praised By 'Breaking Bad' Music Supervisor
(Classic Rock) Bob Dylan has been praised for being easy to work with by film and TV music supervisors. The American singer/songwriter received an Oscar for his track Things Have Changed from the 2001 movie Wonder Boys, while his work has been used in over 500 silver screen productions.

And Thomas Golubic, music supervisor behind shows including Breaking Bad, says Dylan and his manager Jeff Rosen are incredibly supportive of film and TV projects.

He tells Variety: "To me there's been literally nothing more simple than clearing a Bob Dylan song. I take his music very seriously. I think he's America's greatest songwriter.

"A lot of times when you have artists who are so iconic you're stuck with a lot of middlemen whose job is to get as much money as possible or to make it feel as important as possible.

"With Jeff, he's really straightforward. He essentially has Bob's ear, and if Bob feels like it's something that he supports, it goes through." Golubic is not in praising Dylan. Read more here.

Motley Crue's Vince Neil Warns Young Bands About Trends
(Classic Rock) Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil says young bands should stick to their guns and not follow trends. Neil says too many acts fail to fulfill their potential because they try to tap into what's popular at the time, rather than hone their own sound.

He tells The Huffington Post: "Stay with what you're good at. I find that a lot of bands will start out as a great rock 'n' roll band but then the times will change into rap, so they'll try to incorporate that because they think it'll bring in more fans.

"Then it'll change again to boy band stuff, then they'll try to change to that. You can't do that. You're chasing your tail. You've got to just stick to your guns and if rock 'n' roll isn't in right now, who cares?

"Be the best rock band you can be, or the best pop band you can be. Don't try to be something you're not. I think a lot of people fail because they try to write too much for the times and not for their hearts." Read more here.

Slipknot's Corey Taylor Calls Out Gimmick Criticism
(TeamRock Radio) Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has slammed those who claim the band's masks are just a gimmick. And he's underlined that it's unlikely they'll ever perform without their headgear.

The band are currently on the road in support of .5: The Gray Chapter, their first release since the death of bassist Paul Gray in 2010. They haven't officially confirmed the names of their new bassist and drummer, and haven't decided whether the pair will become permanent additions.

Taylor tells Linea Rock: "To everyone who thinks it's just a gimmick - live in it and you tell me it's a gimmick, you sh*theads." He also says: "I don't think you'll ever see a Slipknot 'unmasked' tour. Everybody asks me that. It's such a part of what we do and it helps us really embrace the music. I couldn't see that happening." Read more here.

Tad Doyle's Brothers of the Sonic Cloth Return
(Classic Rock) Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, the band formed by Tad Doyle, bass player Peggy Doyle and drummer Dave French, have released a new recording. La Mano Poderosa comes from the band's self-titled debut album, out this month on Neurot Recordings.

La Mano Ponerosa is the second new track from the band, following the release of Lava, which was premiered on Tad's website last month. "Originally the main riff was one of the first songs for BOTSC, conceived in 2007 and developed over a period of seven years until this release," says Tad. "Lyrically the subject matter is of the notion that one has been here for thousands of years. This comes with the realisation that there are 'old souls' who may have been here many times and have witnessed glimpses of past lives through a series of déjà vus.

"Some who have lived as hunter gatherers working soil, some as soldiers on bloody battlefields joining their blades with others flesh, and those who have witnessed their lives as other living beings and animals. This return to 'here', being the last time."

Steven Wilson Releases Perfect Life Video
(Classic Rock) Steven Wilson has launched a video for his track Perfect Life, from upcoming solo album Hand. Cannot. Erase. It's to be released on March 2 via Kscope, and followed by a six-date UK tour later in the month.

The follow-up to The Raven That Refused To Sing features Guthrie Govan, Adam Holzman, Nick Beggs and Marco Minnemann. The story explores the life of a reclusive artist who reveals she had a sister - but only for six months.

Wilson - the subject of a TeamRock Radio takeover day earlier this week - is the cover artist in the latest edition of Prog, on sale now and also featuring Peter Hammill, Beardfish, Luna Rossa, Pain Of Salvation, Toundra, Periphery and more. Watch the video here.

Yngwie Malmsteen Ruined His Career Says Ex-Singer
(Classic Rock) Yngwie Malmsteen's former singer Michael Vescera has slammed the axeman saying he ruined his career by "burning bridges and pissing people off."

He recorded two albums with the Swedish axeman: 1994's The Seventh Sign and 1995's Magnum Opus. And the vocalist says the guitarist blew his chance to be the best in the world because of the way he treated other people.

Vescera is on a South American tour with former Accept frontman Udo Dirkschneider, ex Iron Maiden man Blaze Bayley and Tim 'Ripper' Owens, formerly of Judas Priest under the Metal Singers banner.

Vescera says at a press conference to promote the tour in Brazil via RocknaMochila: "A lot of crazy stuff happened with Yngwie. But I think the main thing is Yngwie could have been the biggest guitarist in the world today, by far. And he's destroyed his career by burning bridges and pissing people off. It's unfortunate, because he changed the face of guitar and to be where he's at today is kind of sad." Read more here.

Singled Out: Yesterday's Saints' Generation of Vipers
Today Yesterday's Saints vocalist Matt Rice tells us a little about the story behind their brand new concept album "Generation of Vipers," which was released this week. Here is the story:

So for the entire album, Generation of Vipers, that we released on February 2nd, it's a concept album that tells the story of Satan through out time. The song "The Recruitment" that we are currently pushing is the third track on the album but second in chronology of the concept story. It's a tad difficult to talk about just one song without addressing how all of the album was developed. Warning I'm about to nerd out here. So we developed the concept idea and then created a storyboard of the entire album flow, rough titles, and decided on how each song should come across. Like, should it be heavy and fast, or slow; erie and doomy.

The Recruitment is the part of the story where, Satan, after realizing he can usurp the Throne of God needs to recruit an army. So with that we wanted to have the song envelop pre-battle angst and anticipation. So Albert, Witt and John set out to come up with the music to hit that chord. When they sent it over to me to put lyrics on it I was blown away. The brutality of the opening riff got me really excited. Then the insane speed the kicks and guitar ran at during the chorus scared the sh*t out of me at first. I wasn't sure what I could come up with at that speed. So I went cut time and shot for epic.

For lyrical inspiration I went to my main sources for the album: Paradise Lost, the Bible, other sources of ancient fiction, and the world's source of partially correct information; Wikipedia.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the album, get the ultra high quality download (1141kbps) here and learn more about the album right here!

All That Remains Frontman Slams Jenny McCarthy Over Vaccinations
(Radio.com) Philip Labonte of metal band All That Remains spoke with Radio.com about a variety of topics including the Super Bowl and he also shared his perspective on the current vaccinations debate.

Like many other advocates of vaccination he blames the anti-vaccination movement, at least in part, on celebrity Jenny McCarthy. "It's her fault! She's the one who started the whole 'You're gonna get autism' thing. So, nice f***in' job, Jenny! But, you know, it's science. It's a real thing. It's like this: polio isn't a problem anymore. You know why? Because of the polio vaccine!"

He continues, "It seems to me that Rand Paul is saying that vaccinations are good things, generally, people should get vaccinated, but it shouldn't be mandatory. As much as I don't think that the government should be in the business of saying 'You have to do this,' when I have kids, I'm gonna vaccinate them.

"I heard someone on the news this morning suggest a fairly realistic solution: if you don't want to vaccinate your kids, they can't go to public school. I would take that a step further, and say if your kids aren't going to public school, that should be reflected in your taxes. I like the idea that if you want your kids to go to public school, you have to vaccinate them. That, to me, seems fair." Read more here.

Motley Crue Jeopardy Clue Clip Goes Viral
(Radio.com) You've heard certainly heard Motley Crue sing "Girls Girls Girls." But have you heard the Alex Trebek version? During a Feb. 2 episode of Jeopardy!, one of the contestants (Colin) chose a high-value question in the "Hard Rockers" category, which led Trebek (who hosts the show) to give an impromptu dramatic reading of the song's saucy lyrics, to see if Colin could identify them.

"Girls, girls, girls, long legs and burgundy lips," the normally reserved Trebek read out loud. "Girls, girls, girls, dancin' down on the Sunset Strip. Girls, girls, girls."

The slight inflections and dramatic emphasis he gave to the words gave him away--Trebek was having fun with this. And the internet is reacting. A video clip of the reading is making the rounds, and it's even earned the attention of Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx, who called it "amazing." Watch the clip

The band recently premiered an unreleased version of the track, "Houses Of The Holy",from the project, which features Led Zeppelin standards "Kashmir", "Trampled Under Foot" and "The Rover."

Anthrax Update Fans On New Album Progress
(hennemusic) Anthrax have issued a video update from the studio as they work on their 11th album. The band are sharing footage of sessions recording rhythm tracks; it's the latest clip following video released in December at the start of the project.

Anthrax have once again teamed with producer Jay Ruston for the follow-up to 2011's "Worship Music", which is expected to be released this year. Anthrax are up for a Grammy Award this Sunday in the Best Metal Performance category.

The group's version of Black Sabbath's "Neon Knights" and Tenacious D's remake of Dio's "The Last In Line" - both from the 2014 Ronnie James Dio tribute album "This Is Your Life" - go head-to-head alongside tracks by Motorhead ("Heartbeaker" from "Aftershock"), Slipknot ("The Negative One" from ".5: The Gray Chapter") and Mastodon ("High Road" from "Once More 'Round the Sun").

Purple Release DMT Video
(Classic Rock) Fiery Texan trio Purple, whose debut album 409 was described in Classic Rock as a "Riotous, gleeful punk rock noise", have released a video for DMT. It's the second video the band have shot for the song.

"I held so much anger in me for so many years until I finally graduated from high school, started partying a lot more and raging on the music," says Hanna. "And that is what Purple is all about. You don't know how many times I've heard 'Hey, you drum pretty good…for a girl'.

"It's that phrase: 'for a girl'. It doesn't make me mad though; it's funny. It just makes me want to be more bad-ass than the boys. Anger can be extremely inspiring that way."

Moon Duo Streaming New Song 'Slow Down Low'
(Prog) Moon Duo have released a stream of their track Slow Down Low from upcoming third album Shadow Of The Sun. The follow-up to 2012's Circles will be released on March 2 via Sacred Bones.

Founders Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada are joined by drummer John Jeffrey, who first appeared on last year's live album. They say Shadow Of The Sun was written during "a rare and uneasy rest period, devoid of the constant adrenaline of performing live and the stimulation of traveling through endless moving landscapes."

But the situation offered them an opportunity for reflection, which served them well when they decided to record in "a dark Portland basement." Check out the song here.

Marilyn Manson Made Borland Miss Limp Bizkit
(TeamRock Radio) Wes Borland realized he missed being in Limp Bizkit when he realised his dream of working with Marilyn Manson. And even though he doesn't listen to any other act in the nu metal genre, he's proud of what his own band have achieved.

The guitarist has left the band twice - first in 2001 then again in 2006 - but returned in 2009 after spending eight months in Manson's band. Borland tells Metal Insider: "When I was in high school I was a big Marilyn Manson fan. And when I was out of Bizkit I got to be the guitar player in Marilyn Manson. That was the last thing I did before I went back to Limp Bizkit.

"I went, 'Oh - I'm standing in a yard where I thought the grass was greener, a place I thought I'd like more, and I don't.' That was a big realisation, to go, 'This is what I've wanted to do since a handful of years after I started playing. This is the band I wanted to be like or be in.' And it wasn't what I thought it was, working with Manson." Read more here.

Neil Young Duets Classic Song With Jimmy Fallon
(hennemusic) Neil Young joined host Jimmy Fallon for a duet of his 1972 classic, "Old Man", on NBC-TV's The Tonight Show on Tuesday where he also performed another song.

Dressed in vintage Young attire, Fallon began the tune in a lone spotlight before the real Neil jumped in to exchange verses and looks during the performance.

Young reappeared later in the episode for an interview to promote his new high quality audio music player, PONO. The guitarist closed the show playing "Who's Gonna Stand Up?" - from his latest album, "Storytone" - with The Roots and an expanded band that included a horn section and backup singers.

Singled Out: Seek Irony's Devil In Me
Today Kfir Gov from the electro-modern rock band Seek Irony tells us about the song "Devil In Me" which is their first single from their debut album "Tech N' Roll". Here is the story:

"Devil in Me" is a song about addictions - whether it is drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex or a love infatuation - you name it. Every person and what the "Devil in Me" symbolizes for him/her. I decided to write it up kinda like a relationship between a man and a woman to give the addiction a life of its own in the song.

I felt it had a cooler storyline by turning the addiction into a living personality describing the addiction almost like a person with schizophrenic behaviour that has to go through a daily struggle of arguments and battles with that "Devil" inside, in order not to fall back into the addiction again and again.

I remember "Devil in Me" coming together very naturally, almost "too" naturally because usually what happens when I write songs is I come with a general idea for a melody and only then dive into writing the actual lyrics for it thus giving the song its soul. In Devil in Me's case, I remember us in the studio, writing the Electronica Drum beat plus the main guitar riff for the verse and chorus and after listening to it a few times, as we are recording it, that chorus melody just popped up in my head WITH the words "you are, you are, you are the devil in me, taking over" and right at the moment, that pretty much defined what the song was about for me. So in this Devil in Me's case, I guess it already had a soul of its own.

Jimmy Page Preparing For New Music and Live Return
(Gibson) Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page says he's gearing up to release new music and play live. In my dreams it would be with Led Zeppelin, but he's talking about his upcoming solo album.

Talking to the press at the West London launch of the 40th anniversary deluxe reissue for "Physical Graffiti," Page said he was getting ready to hit the stage again.

"How it starts off is, you have to play guitar and get match-fit first," Page told Rolling Stone. "So currently I'm in the process of doing that - but I'm also in the process of doing this (Zeppelin reissue series), too. It'll be closer to the end of the year rather than next month. I'm definitely warming up on the touchlines!

"What I'm doing is something that's going to be quite different," he added. "It wouldn't be anything that hopefully you'd imagine I would do." On the subject of the Zeppelin reissues, Page said "the response has been phenomenal."

"I knew all of the material was really great, but it was really important to set the scene right from the beginning and explain the fact that they were companion discs," he said. "It's been a real fun project to do because I know what's coming - and there's some great surprises."

Paul McCartney, Mike McCready and Lady Gaga 'Secret Project'
(Classic Rock) Paul McCartney is working with Lady Gaga and Pearl Jam's Mike McCready on a "secret project," according to the pop queen. Beatle McCartney teamed up with Rihanna and Kanye West on Rihanna's new single FourFiveSeconds and according to Gaga, he's hard at work on another collaboration.

Rush's Geddy Lee Set For That Metal Show Season Premiere
Rush frontman Geddy Lee will be the featured guest on That Metal Show when the VH1 Classic series kicks off its 14th season on Saturday, February 21st.

The shows cohost Eddie Trunk had this to say, "Back when 'TMS' was first born Geddy & Alex were nice enough to fly to New York and be a guest in our very first season. I've always had a great relationship with the Rush guys and it meant so much to me they were willing to support something I was doing that at that point hardly anyone had seen or heard of.

"Amazingly almost seven years have passed and we're now about to debut our 14th season of 'That Metal Show' and I couldn't be more honored to welcome back Geddy to the set to celebrate 40 plus years of Rush and the return of TMS!"

Geddy will be appearing on the show to promote the upcoming Rush R40 Live 40th Anniversary Tour that will kick off this summer with a run of North American dates.

The season premiere will also feature Dream Theater's John Petrucci debut appearance on the show. The new season will feature 12 episodes and fans can grab tickets for the tapings at the Metropolis Studios in New York City here.

In Flames Add New Leg to North American Tour
In Flames have expanded their North American tour plans. As the band is gearing up to launch a winter leg of the tour later this month, they have just announced a spring leg.

The new leg is scheduled to kick off on April 27th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at the Culture Room and the leg will feature support from All That Remains and Periphery on a majority of the dates.

But first up, In Flames will be launching the first leg on February 20th at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA and this leg will feature support from All That Remains and Wovenwar.

In Flames Anders Friden had this to say about the trek, "It feels absolutely fantastic to be going back on the road, and to the U.S. We've been working on radio with our new single 'Paralyzed' and it's going to be great to perform that song, along with the rest of our set." See the tour dates here.

Richard Patrick Plans New Filter Album And Memoir
Richard Patrick has announced that Filter will soon be entering the recording studio to begin tracking the band's 7th studio album and he also revealed that he is working on a memoir.

Patrick will once again work with producer/mixer Ben Gross (Short Bus, Title of Record, The Amalgamut) and he revealed that he is also collaborating on the new music with former Filter co-writer Brian Leisgang, and also with guitarist Oumi Kapilia.

The Filter frontman explains the approach to the new music, "I'm headed in a new direction. More stripped down industrial sound. Keeping things moving but a way more 'f*** it' approach. Just like short bus although it won't sound like short bus but it will sound like filter."

Patrick had the following to say about his plans for a memoir, "If people had any idea of what happened to me from my NIN days to now, they'd be shocked. Drugs, betrayal, war, death, crime, music, pain, and drugs."

Fans can also catch the band on the road with the recently reunited Coal Chamber beginning next month for a tour that will be kicking off on March 6th in Tempe, AZ and concluding on April 12th in Dallas, TX. See the tour dates here.

Steve Hogarth and co are currently in rehearsals - but they report the rest of the year will be spent writing and recording material for the follow-up to 2012's Sounds That Can't Be Made.

They say: "In the mornings we come into the studio and jam, then proceed to try and remember songs we might not have played for years - or ever! It's a slow process but it's going well.

"After the conventions we will spend the rest of the year writing and recording the new album which is due for release in early 2016. We are only escaping the studio for the Ramblin' Man Fair in July and Cruise To The Edge in November." Read more here.

Artists Make Very Little From Streaming Services
(Classic Rock) New figures from Europe show that for every 9.99 euro monthly subscription to streaming services such as Spotify and Deezer, only 68 cents go directly to the artist.

French industry trade body SNEP, whose members include labels Sony Music, Universal Music and Warner Music, conducted a survey with business firm Ernst & Young to determine how cash is distributed from payments to subscription streaming services.

And, according to the figures highlighted by Music Business Worldwide, major labels take €4.56 of payments, with €2.08 going to the digital platform holders, €1 to publishers and songwriters, and 68 cents direct to the artists. The remaining cash goes to the government in the form of tax. Read more here.

Richards/Crane Release New Song With Myles Kennedy
(Classic Rock) Ugly Kid Joe singer Whitfield Crane has reunited with ex-Dropbox guitarist Lee Ricahards for a new project under the name Richards/Crane. The first release from the pair, who previously worked together in Another Animal, is Black & White, a duet with Alter Bridge/Slash singer Myles Kennedy.

The video for Black & White was filmed on the streets of London and backstage at the last year's Download Festival, and features cameos from the likes of Steel Panther, Skindred's Benji Webbe, Phil Anselmo, Dee Snider and Chris Jericho, as well as Kennedy.

The track is taken from the duo's as-yet untitled debut album, which can be pre-ordered now from Pledgemusic. The album also features a collaboration with Indian musician Vishal Vaid, who's previously worked with the likes of Anoushka Shankar, Bill Laswell, Michael Franti and Karsh Kale.

Anthrax's Scott Ian On How Tech Has Changed Music
(Classic Rock) Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian saves all the emails he gets from his heroes - but he'd still prefer the internet had never existed. He's currently at work on the band's next album, which they've been teasing via their social media channels.

Ian tells RocksVerige: "Like everything there's good and bad to it. I think about when I was a kid - if I could have sent a message to Steve Harris, and he'd written me back, even just to say, 'Cheers, thank you!' that would have been the coolest thing in the world.

"I'm still like that when I get an email from Gene Simmons or somebody. I save all those because I think it's cool that I have an email from Gene Simmons."

But he adds: "Kiss could never have done what they did in the 70s and kept their identities hidden now. Look at Ghost - how long did it take before there were pictures of those guys all over the internet? There just isn't that mystique thing about bands any more." Read more here.

Producer Praises Faith No More's Creative New Music
(Classic Rock) Producer Matt Wallace is working with Faith No More for the first time since their 1992 classic Angel Dust - and he says the band's upcoming album features the most creative music they've ever made.

He'd previously manned the desk for all the band's previous output, and he's also worked with Deftones, Bowling For Soup, REM, The Replacements, Mushroomhead and many others.

Wallace says: "FNM are making the most creative music of their career and it's a thrill to be part of the team again. Buy their record and tickets to their show because - well, hell, they're the mighty Faith No More!" Read more here.

Jimi Hendrix Girlfriend Shocked At Biopic Inaccuracies
(Classic Rock) Jimi Hendrix's former girlfriend Kathy Etchingham has offered to produce her medical records and prove the "shocking" inaccuracies in biopic Jimi: All Is By My Side.

She spoke up before the 2014 movie was released, saying that writer and director John Ridley hadn't consulted her, and that scenes that showed Hendrix being violent to her were works of fantasy.

Hendrix biographer Charles R Cross last year condemned the production, saying: "I interviewed 325 people, from family members to friends. I never heard a story that's even close to that."

Now Etchingham tells Rich Davenport: "The whole story is a fabrication. Even the things that did happen have not been produced accurately. John Ridley didn't consult me, so I don't know where he got it from. Apparently Jimi beat my head in with a telephone receiver and then beat me up in the street. They've got me taking an overdose of tablets and being in hospital. None of these things happened.

"I was completely shocked. If somebody beat you up like that, the police would be involved. If you took an overdose a psychiatrist would be involved. With the National Health Service your medical records stay with you for life. I'd be quite happy to produce them - there'd be nothing in there." Read more here.

Horror Classic Halloween Prepared Corey Taylor For Slipknot
(TeamRock Radio) Corey Taylor has recalled how the trailer for horror film Halloween "psychologically prepared" him for being in Slipknot. The frontman saw the trailer for the movie when he was about five-years-old and says the imagery has stayed with him ever since.

Taylor tells Life And Times: "The thing I loved about it was that it didn't need a lot. There was a natural tension there that kind of lent itself to this creepiness because it was a different type of movie.

"At that age I hadn't really been exposed to anything like that. So I remember just being like, 'Who is that dude in the white mask?' I think maybe psychologically, that prepared me for being in Slipknot.

"You can have the craziest monster on the planet with all kinds of gore and fluids flying out of its face, and it's not merely as striking or as frightening as Michael Myers just standing there quietly staring at you. I have just goose bumps thinking about it. It's such a powerful evocative vibe that I think people have been chasing that tail ever since." Read more here.

Testament Making Progress On New Album
(TeamRock Radio) Testament's Alex Skolnick says the band's upcoming 11th album is "more than 50% written." The group's most recent album was 2012's Dark Roots Of Earth and the follow-up will feature bassist Steve DiGiorgio, who returned for a second spell after the band's bitter split with Greg Christian last year.

Guitarist Skolnick tells Metal Sanaz: "Testament takes our time writing music. We can't crank out a record every year. But we're also not going to do a substandard record.

"I think it's going to be good. And honestly, it's more than 50% written. And usually once we get to that next phase, it starts happening faster." Read more and stream the interview here.

Today's Day in Rock News!

Today's Day in Rock

Scott Weiland Talks Velvet Revolver Egos
(Classic Rock) Former Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland says he's surprised the band lasted as long as it did with him on vocal duties. The singer says he still doesn't know why he was sacked by the band, which included former GNR men Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, as well as guitarist Dave Kushner.

But, he says, with all the egos on show within the band, he's amazed it lasted seven years in the first place. Weiland tells Mitch Lafon: "There were a lot of egos in the band, including mine. Everybody was, basically, a star, a celebrity. To make a group like that work, like a supergroup-type thing - I'm surprised we were together for seven years.

"I wish we would have had another album under our belts. It was great while it was great, and it was difficult when it was difficult. But I don't regret any of it. It was cool." Read more here.

Dave Lombardo Denies Megadeth Rumor
(Classic Rock) Former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo says the idea of joining Megadeth hasn't been discussed with Dave Mustaine. The drumstool became vacant when Shawn Drover left Megadeth in November, along with guitarist Chris Broderick. They're currently recording their new band's first album.

Lombardo, who was fired by Slayer in February 2013, has been connected with the job in Megadeth - but he tells Wikimetal: "Nobody's approached me. It's all rumors."

In a separate interview, Lombardo, now with Philm, says he's happy with the way his career is going: "It's been amazing being part of such an amazing band like Slayer. The fans that support me, and the musicians I've been able to collaborate with - I couldn't be any happier." Read more here.

AC/DC Reuniting With Chris Slade?
(TeamRock Radio) Former AC/DC drummer Chris Slade is rumored to be rejoining the band in place of wayward sticksman Phil Rudd. The band are due to play at the Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles next week, but Rudd isn't allowed to leave New Zealand as a result of his court case over charges of threatening to kill and drug possession.

Slade was set to make a publicity appearance at The Optometry Practice in California on Saturday, but cancelled at short notice. Dr Alex Robin Liu, who owns the establishment, said via Facebook: "There's actually big news regarding Slade and his career coming in several days, which is why he had to reschedule this event."

Asked of the news was related to a band "spelt with four letters and a lightning bolt" Liu responds: "I am not totally sure to be honest with you. I am hoping for that!" Read more here.

Dimebag Darrell, Marty Friedman Lead Ace Frehley Tribute CD
'Spacewalk - A Salute To Ace Freheley', an all-star tribute to the original KISS guitarist, was reissued this week and features covers of some of his most loved KISS era songs.

One of the highlights of the album is late Pantera and Damage Plan guitarist Dimebag Darrell's performance of "Fractured Mirror," the instrumental track from Frehley's 1978 solo album.

The album also features performances of KISS classics by former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clark, Night Ranger guitarist Jeff Watson, former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach, original L.A. Guns guitarist Tracii Guns, Little Caesar singer Ron Young, Skid Row guitarist Snake Sabo, Europe guitarist John Norum, plus Racer X and The Scream guitarist Bruce Bouillet. Check out the track details here.

Original Dio Member Finish Recording Debut Last in Line Album
(Classic Rock) Last In Line guitarist Vivian Campbell has revealed their upcoming debut album is done and will be mixed in the coming weeks. And he says the material he's recorded with fellow former Dio members Vinny Appice, Jimmy Bain and Claude Schnell, along with Hurricane and Lynch Mob frontman Andrew Freeman is sounding "epic."

He tells the Eddie Trunk podcast: "I would say 50% of the songs would sound right at home on those first three Dio albums, and the others have a bit more of a modern edge to them.

"When you get Vinny and Jimmy and I playing, it sounds like the early Dio records, because that's what it is. Obviously, Andy is a very different singer - he's got a very different instrument, and he writes lyrics very differently. I'm very impressed with where he has gone lyrically on the record. So it's great. It is so epic sounding. We've got some amazing songs and I'm hyper excited about it." Read more here.

Randy Bachman Recruits Rival Sons Star For New Song
(Classic Rock) Randy Bachman has released a stream of his track Ton Of Bricks, featuring a guest appearance by Scott Holiday of Rival Sons. It's taken from the album Heavy Blues, to be launched on April 14th in North America under the band name Bachman.

Other guests include Joe Bonamassa, Neil Young, Peter Frampton and the late Jeff Healey. The record is available for pre-order now. It was produced by Kevin Shirley and features bassist Anna Ruddick and drummer Dale Anne Brendon.

Bachman recently said: "I've known Kevin for many years. I knew he could push me past my limit and direct me down new roads. The collaboration, paired with Dale and Anna, has made this an amazing experience."

Glen Drover Felt Like A Puppet In Megadeth
(Classic Rock) Former Megadeth guitarist Glen Drover says he felt forced to behave like a robot during his stint with Dave Mustaine's band. And he believes the recent departure of his brother, drummer Shawn Drover, and guitarist Chris Broderick was a result of "puppeteering" within the thrash outfit.

Glen, who left in 2008 after four years, tells Guitar Zoom: "There was a lot of force of trying to be somebody else to a tee. I think you should keep certain pieces and melodies intact, but everybody's got their own DNA. That should be injected.

"You shouldn't try to play something note for note. You sound like a robot, and then you're just kind of a puppet. I don't believe in that. In Megadeth there was a lot of pressure for that. It's like, 'This is not really what I envisioned from a musical standpoint.' It didn't take too long to get to the point where it became boring." Read more here.

Steven Adler Surprised He Lived To See 50
(Classic Rock) Steven Adler says he had his doubts he'd ever make it to his 50th birthday. The original Guns N' Roses drummer turned 50 last month and says he feels great, having steered clear of drugs and alcohol for more than a year.

But he admits he feared he might not live as long as he has. He tells KLOS 95.5: "I had my doubts. Everything is great, 50 is beautiful. I survived. I feel more mature, more grown-up. Especially as I have a year and 22 days sober."

Adler also discussed his art project, which sees him create images using laser drum sticks to capture his motion. He has created 12 artworks, one for each song on GNR's debut album Appetite For Destruction.

He says: "It's a collection made of rhythm, using laser drum sticks like a painter uses brushes. I'm the canvas and the painter." Read more here.

Killswitch Engage Singer Would Rather Make Different Style Music
(TeamRock Radio) Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach says he would put out a reggae album if he thought he could get away with it. The singer says he hates the restrictions that genres put on musicians and admits that if he wrote the music he truly wanted to write, his fans would not be impressed.

He has a number of side projects including blues rock band Seemless, hardcore metal outfit The Empire Shall Fall and rock act Times of Grace. Last year, promoting his lo-fi solo project Aliken, he said he had no time for fans who want to pigeonhole him as a metal singer.

"I'm a huge reggae lover. I'm huge punk rock lover. Jazz, classical, you name it - I like it. It's about knowing your strengths and weaknesses. I'm pretty decent at what I do with Killswitch, and I tend to stick to that.

"But my true loves and what I'd rather be spending my time doing, I don't think it would jive with most of my fans. If could put out a reggae record, I would." Read more here.

Local H Announce New Album and 25th Anniversary Show
Local H have announced that they will be releasing their 8th studio album, "Hey, Killer," on April 14th and will be playing a special hometown record release and 25th anniversary show.

The new album was produced by Andy Gerber and is the two-man band's first album to feature drummer Ryan Harding. "Hey, Killer" will be issued on CD, vinyl and digitally.

On April 19th the band will perform the special hometown show at the Metro in Chicago to celebrate the album's release and mark the 25th anniversary of their very first live show at the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater on April 20, 1990.

Frontman Scott Lucas offered these details about the album, "After Ryan joined, we spent the year touring and collecting riffs. Once that year was up, it was time to make a record. We didn't give ourselves a choice. "We called Electrical in November and booked a couple of days in December.

"I hung up the phone and I was like, 'F***! What did I just do?' I was panicked. We had two songs. No lyrics. Then I listened to the recordings and demos I'd made on my phone over the past year, and I realized that we had a lot of stuff. Then the lyrics started to come together. Every day. More stuff.

"It was like it was out of our control. When we were done, we just looked at each other, and we were both like, 'This stuff is really f***ing good!' No one was more shocked than we were."

He also explained why they decided not to go in the concept album direction with the new album, "We did a break up record, followed by a political record. The charge became that we couldn't make a record without leaning on a conceptual crutch.

"That may or may not be true, but the goal with this record was to trim the fat and just pile on the hooks. All killer, no filler is how the saying goes. Obvious stuff, really. In the end, you're just trying not to suck. It's a simple plan. The record's called Hey, Killer - not Hey, Filler (sorry)." Check out the tracklisting and the upcoming tour dates here.

Winery Dogs Set New Album Plans
(Classic Rock) Supergroup Winery Dogs will enter the studio to start recording the follow-up to their 2013 self-titled debut in May, mainman Richie Kotzen has confirmed.

The vocalist and guitarist, along with drummer Mike Portnoy and bassist Billy Sheehan, have been working together on fresh material - and Kotzen says the ideas they have so far are "crazy" and "cool."

He tells Vintage Rock: "We actually started writing music a couple of weeks ago at my house and got a bunch of ideas. I think it's going to be a cool record.

We've got a couple of songs that we did at the piano, some acoustic things, crazy stuff and it's going to be a fun record. We'll probably start recording it in May and, realistically, it will be out at the end of summer." Check out the full interview here.

Vanilla Fudge Releasing New Album Spirit of '67
(Classic Rock) Vanilla Fudge will release a covers album entitled Spirit of '67 in March, they've confirmed. Mark Stein, Vince Martell, Carmine Appice and Pete Bremy say it's their heaviest work to date, and carries all the trademarks of their best studio creations.

It contains ten tracks which were originally recorded in 1967, including songs by Procol Harum, The Monkees, The Box Tops and Spencer Davis Group and Buffalo Springfield. Also included is a brand-new song entitled Let's Pray For Peace.

Martell says: "Spirit Of '67 is the continuation of the journey we began in the Summer Of Love - psychedelic, rhythmically powerful arrangement of happening tunes of that era, coloured by the insight and vision of who we are today."

Stein reports: "The success of Vanilla Fudge has always been based on our interpretations of songs by great artists. Our style of classic rock lives large on this effort." Read more here.

TNT Looking For New Singer
(Classic Rock) TNT are looking for a new singer to replace Tony Harnell. Previous singer Tony Mills left the Norwegian power metal outfit in 2013 and they went on the road last year with Harnell on vocal duties as they celebrated the 25th anniversary of their 1989 classic album Intuition.

But after Harnell's third departure from the lineup, they are now in search of a vocalist to take on the job on a permanent basis - despite hinting last month that there were no TNT activities planned for 2015.

They say: "Guitar player Ronni Le Tekro has written a number of songs for a new TNT album due in late 2015 or early 2016. The band is looking for a singer who can handle the classic high pitch material." Read more here.

Former Testament Star Looking For Anselmo Like Singer
(TeamRock Radio) Former Testament bassist Greg Christian has launched a search for a singer to front his new project Trinity Fallen. Christian, who was sacked by Testament last year and later hit out at the band for the "cruel" way in which they treated him, is working with guitarist Artak Ozan on Trinity Fallen.

The group has made two instrumental demos available, for songs called Live And Let Live and One Fifty Six and say they are looking for a vocalist in the vein of Phil Anselmo.

Christian says: "Looking for a real singer. someone with range, dynamics, and the beat. Someone with vocal skills comparable to my bass skills or Artak's guitar skills, that can sing clean and sing aggression - but actually sing it - like a Cowboys/Vulgar-era Phil Anselmo, but with their own style.

"Also - be realistic. we are located in the Bay Area with zero budget to fly anyone's ass anywhere. So if you're not close enough to Oakland or Antioch to get there by yourself, please don't reply." Read more and stream the demos here.

Faith No More's Bordin Didn't Expect Comeback Album
(Classic Rock) Faith No More drummer Mike 'Puffy' Bordin admits he didn't expect the band to record another album - but he's grateful they haven't squandered their reunion.

They got back together in 2009, but the follow-up to 1997's Album Of The Year has taken six years to come together. It's due later this year, after bassist Billy Gould told how it took some time to persuade his colleagues to commit.

Bordin tells Faith No More Followers: "I really never thought it would happen, so I had no expectations driving me. Like it has all been on 2.0, it was a series of many small steps that took us to this point. Any one of those steps, had they gone unacceptably, would have likely ended the journey."

But the delay brought certain benefits, says the drummer. "The songwriting and recording process felt totally comfortable - I believe that's because we didn't rush into it, but spent enough time on and off stage finding out who we were, how it felt, and if there was something further for us to say." Rush Clockwork Lives Novel Set For Release
(hennemusic) Rush drummer Neil Peart and author Kevin J. Anderson will publish "Clockwork Lives" on September 1 via ECW Press. A limited-run collector's edition of "Clockwork Lives" will also be available.

The book follows the story first introduced in "Clockwork Angels", a companion novel developed from the band's 2012 concept album of the same name.

In "Clockwork Lives", Anderson and Peart explores the lives of secondary characters in the first book while introducing a new protagonist. According to the book's description, "Marinda Peake is a woman with a quiet, perfect life in a small village.

"Her alchemist father's will leaves Marinda a mysterious inheritance: a blank book that she must fill with other people's stories - and ultimately her own. Styled after Marinda's book, the volume itself will be a beautiful homage to traditional bookmaking." Read more here.

Suns Of The Tundra Ask Fans To Kickstart New Album
(Prog) English prog outfit Suns Of The Tundra have launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund production of their upcoming album. Previously called Peach, the band featured bassist Justin Chancellor and toured with Tool in the early 90s. When Maynard James Keenan an co were searching for a bass player following the departure of Paul D'Amour in 1995, they recruited Chancellor.

They changed their name to Suns Of The Tundra in 2000 and released their self-titled, full-length debut in 2004 and Tunguska in 2006. Now they're planning to launch an album inspired by the British Film Institute's South, which chronicled Ernest Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition between 1914-1916 in a vinyl/CD package.

Vocalist and guitarist Simon Oakes says: "Bones of Brave Ships was recorded and mastered to be directly synchronised with South. If you purchase the DVD of South, or download it from the BFI website, you will be able to watch the actual images that inspired us alongside our music, exactly as we intended it. AC/DC Preparing To Rock The Grammy Awards
(hennemusic) AC/DC are sharing a photo of the band in rehearsal for their performance this Sunday at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. The image shows guitarist Angus Young and the band in a rehearsal space as they prepare for their return to US TV for the first time in over 14 years.

AC/DC's appearance at the annual event is to promote their latest album, "Rock Or Bust." The status of drummer Phil Rudd's availability for the Grammys remains in question, as he is scheduled to return to a New Zealand court to face charges stemming from his November 6 arrest on multiple charges.

Part of Rudd's bail conditions is to reside in his Tauranga home, which may make it difficult for the drummer to leave the country for the event in Los Angeles. Read more and see the photo here.

Motley Crue Release Farewell Tour Video
(hennemusic) Motley Crue have released a video promoting the final shows of their farewell tour. The band recently announced North American dates for the run, which will wrap up December 31 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The Crue resume the farewell trek with shows in Japan this month before hitting Australia and New Zealand in the spring; in June, they'll play three European festivals including Download (UK), Sweden Rock and Austria's Novarock before returning to North America for the summer.

The group also released a video for their new single, "All Bad Things", a song they wrote and recorded last spring before launching the tour in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 2. Watch the video here.

Major Labels See Vinyl Resurgence As Just A Trend
(Classic Rock) Record industry bosses see the resurgence in vinyl sales as a passing fad, it's been reported. Last year vinyl sales pushed through the one million mark in the UK for the first time since 1996, thanks to albums like Pink Floyd's The Endless River and Jack White's Lazaretto.

But industry analysts Neilson Soundscan say vinyl accounts for just 6% of total album sales - a figure that record companies say isn't having a huge effect on their business.

Rolling Stone reports that Tom Corson, president of Sony-owned RCA Records, says his company doesn't have a department devoted to vinyl, although he welcomes the increased interest in the format.

He says: "It is a small percentage of our business. It's not going to make or break our year. We devote the right amount of resources to it, but it's not something where we have a department for it. We welcome it. It's a sexy, cool product. It represents an investment in music that's an emotional one." Read more here.

Marilyn Manson Performs 'The Beautiful People' With 13-Year-Olds
(Radio.com) Unlocking the Truth isn't just youngest band to have ever played Coachella, they're probably the youngest group Marilyn Manson has ever performed with.

To end his set Saturday night at Sands Casino Event Center in Bethlehem, Pa., Manson called on the three teenagers to join him on one of his signature songs, "The Beautiful People."

Despite the fact that the group is made up of eighth graders, Manson didn't risk missing a beat. The 13-year-olds appeared to know even the verses, although they proved they are far less the showmen than Marilyn Manson is even now. But hey, he's had years to perfect his craft. They'll catch up.

However, there was a stage dive into the crowd at the end of the song, so they have the rock star in them yet. Watch it here.

Gavin Harrison Previews Porcupine Tree Reimaging Project
(Prog) Gavin Harrison has released a trailer for his solo album Cheating The Polygraph, which sees him reimagining Porcupine Tree material. The drummer, currently a member of King Crimson, has aimed to offer a contemporary edge to eight pieces from the catalogue he helped create with Steven Wilson and co.

Harrison says: Every album needs a focus, a master plan - and while I thought about writing new tunes for a big band project, I made a version of Porcupine Tree's Futile and it came out really well. It felt like a good plan to follow on with some of my favourite PT songs, and see if we could make them work.

"I had a vision that the arrangements would never lean towards a cliched sound, but always follow a modern contemporary angle. So even if you didn't know the original tune, you could still enjoy it as a modern composition. I couldn't be happier with the results."

Collaborators include saxophonist Nigel Hitchcock ,who's previously recorded with Kate Bush and the Moody Blues, and bassist Laurence Cottle from Bill Bruford's Earthworks. Read more and check out the preview here.

Jack Russell's Great White Premiere Song From New Album
Jack Russell's Great White have released a lyric video for the song "Hard Habit" which comes from their forthcoming studio album The Gauntlet.

"'Hard Habit' is the first in a series of singles the band will put out this year. Be on the lookout for our next single in the coming months! We are really proud of this song and we plan on playing it live as well as some other new tunes and of course all the classic Jack Russell's Great White songs you know and love. See you on the road!" Watch the video here.

The band have announced a handful of west coast dates that will be taking place this month in California and Arizona as well as a one-off appearance in Turtle Lake, WI.

Frontman Art Alexakis had this to say, "We are really excited... It's an unapologetic rock record that I feel combines the best of classic Everclear with contemporary production and what I feel is some of my best songwriting in years!"

Alexakis and the band have also revealed the artists that will be joining them on their Summerland 2015 tour. In addition to Everclear, the tour will also feature American Hi-Fi, Fuel and Toadies.

Aura Release 'Behind My Eyes' Video
(Prog) Italian proggers Aura have released a music video for their track "Behind My Eyes," which comes from their upcoming third album Noise which launches on February 6 via Spider Rock Promotion. It's the follow-up to 2011's Deliverance. View it below.

The group, vocalist/drummer Giovanni Trotta, keyboardist Francesco Di Verniere, guitarist Giuseppe Bruno and bassist Angelo Cerquaglia, previously stated their third album would feature a wide and varied mixture of styles.

They said: "Noise represents a substantial turning of sound from Deliverance while retaining many of the elements that have always distinguished the band's sound.

"The turning points were determined primarily by the artistic maturity of the band members - you'll hear different influences with each listen: 70's rock to post rock, united in an amalgam of incredible arrangements moving Aura to pomp prog and art rock."

Beautality Premiere New Song 'Unreality'
(TeamRock Radio) London-based post-black metallers Beautality have premiered their new single exclusively with TeamRock's Metal Hammer. Taken from the band's upcoming Einfallen: A Tale Ov Torment & Triumph album, Unreality is an epic almost 20-minute aural trip that's as melodic as it is savage.

Speaking about the song, vocalist David Ravengarde says: "Unreality is the end of the journey. A visceral, near spiritual tour de force through blinding lights and stygian sights. The astral road to redemption lies ahead- but it won't be easy."

Einfallen: A Tale Ov Torment & Triumph will be released 16th March via Nordavind Records, which David describes as "a concept, a story of love that becomes obsession - a wretched poison at its very core that turns to insanity. A deep-seated demonic madness most inhuman. This through to eventual metaphysical realisation of such poisonous ways and the need for atonement and eventual redemption."

Singled Out: Aaron David Gleason's Mastermind
Today Aaron David Gleason tells us about his new single "Mastermind" and director Jeremiah Kipp tells us about the video which features Chris Sarandon (The Princess Bride/Dog Day Afternoon) and Tony award winning actresses Alice Ripley and Joanna Gleason . Here is the story:

Aaron David Gleason tells us about the song: "Mastermind" Came about in a pretty circuitous way. It WAS a ballad called "The Last Bus" -- but it did have the lyrics "Where did you get the nerve to see right through me?" My Producer, Robert Davis said "Oh, we should keep that line." But we threw out everything else.

We did keep the chord changes, but we added a beat. I had, at that time, made a pact to make more uptempo or at least midtempo numbers. We stomped on the floor of my apartment--messed up my floor--and made that beat. Then, we hired a drummer, David Piribauer, and he threw down that "Let's Dance" type feel. 3 months of tinkering later, we had a jam.

Jeremiah Kipp tells us about the video: The drum probably informed the whole thing for me. There was a mood of stealth and aggression and planning that wove its way through the song, of pushing forward despite outer and inner frustration. We set out to make a conceptual video around that emotional outburst, told through various characters engaged in artistic or fantastic pursuits.

Aaron didn't want to have a central role in the video, though we enjoy collaborating and he did want to be included. We centered the video on a writer drinking and scribbling (played by Bill Weeden), and gave extended sequences to a scientist stuck on an equation (Chris Sarandon), an action painter (Alice Ripley), a sea creature (Ilaria Malvezzi), a woman ripping her way out of a plastic bag filled with wires (Chelsea Smith) and a character played by Aaron's charismatic and engaging mother, Joanna, speaking to the camera in direct confrontation. Aaron interacts with some of these characters and is in some ways fighting to get through these sequences intact. Who is, in fact, the mastermind?

Today's Day in Rock

Original Santana Lineup Record 9 New Songs
(TeamRock Radio) The original Santana lineup have recorded nine tracks for their upcoming album, drummer Michael Shrieve has confirmed. The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame sticksman hooked up with the guitar icon again in 2013 to record fresh material along with guitarist Neal Schon, percussionist Mike Carabello and keyboardist Gregg Rolie for the record. It will be their first together since 1972's Santana III.

He tells Hit Channel: "We have recorded nine tracks and we are getting together in April for a couple of weeks and we will be able to finish that up as well. I think that it sounds great. It's beautiful. It's like putting on a pair of old jeans."

The drummer also says late Santana promoter Bill Graham, who died in 1991, was like a family member who pushed the band to success. Read more about that here.

Tom DeLonge Teases Songs Meant For Blink-182?
(Radio.com) Tom DeLonge posted two song clips online which he says have no home. Well, at least he labeled them #songwithoutahome and #March1, which we can only surmise is a release date.

After a listen or two to the fast pop-punk clips, fans began speculating the tunes were meant for Blink-182 as Alt Press points out. When one of his Instagram followers asked if the songs were meant for Blink-182, DeLonge responded with a clapping hands emoji, basically congratulating him on the correct assumption.

The Angels & Airwaves singer parted ways with his Blink-182 bandmates last week in a very public, yet civil back-and-fourth. Despite DeLonge's open letter to fans stating that he never left the band, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker say otherwise.

So, if these two tracks were bound for Blink-182, they are now in fact homeless. Listen to the songs here.

Black Sabbath Secret Revealed By Iommi and Geezer
(Gibson) "Black Sabbath recorded their first album in one day." It's one of those diluted facts that rock trivia buffs like to whip out from time to time, but the truth about the recording sessions for the first Black Sabbath album is even more impressive.

In a new interview with Guitar World magazine, Sabbath's Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler reveal that not only was the band's 1970 debut recorded in a single day (February 13, 1970), it was supposed to take two days and they didn't even use the second day!

"We had two days to do it, but we didn't know any better," Butler says. "We just went in there and recorded it like a live gig." Butler says Sabbath weren't even there for the mixing because they had to scoot off to a gig in their rickety van. Read more here.

Gwar Fans Petition To Make Late Singer Mortal Kombat Character
(TeamRock Radio) Gwar fans have launched an online petition to have late singer Dave Brockie, a.k.a. Oderus Urungus, included as a character on an upcoming Mortal Kombat video game.

The petition originally set out to gain 8000 signatures, but has amassed close to 16,000 already. The latest in the successful Mortal Kombat video game series, Mortal Kombat X, is expected to be released in April. And Gwar fans hope Urungus - aka Dave Brockie - will be included as a playable character alongside favorites Scorpion, Sub Zero and Raiden.

Launched by Boston Brand, the petition targets Mortal Kombat X producers NetherRealm Studios. The petition reads: "People who are familiar with Gwar know Oderus Urungus, the former singer of the band, unfortunately passed away last March. Oderus was as hilarious as he was viscous, and also one of the most colorful and creative characters not only in rock history, but also history in general. Read more here.

Black Sabbath Star and Iron Maiden Manager Take On Scalpers
(Classic Rock) Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood have backed a campaign to change UK laws over secondary ticket sales.

PutFansFirst.co.uk has been organised with the help of the House Of Commons' All Party Parliamentary Group For Ticket Abuse, who believe the industry needs urgent legal support to fight against organised online touts and botnets, who buy tickets before fans have a chance then resell them at massively inflated prices.

After a recent amendment to the Consumer Rights Bill were defeated in an MPs' vote, co-chairman Mike Weatherley MP wants everyone from musicians to fans to become proactive in ensuring lawmakers realise how they feel about secondary ticketing.

Weatherley tells TeamRock: "Our creative industries generate more than £36bn and employ 1.5m people. For success to continue it's necessary to ensure that artists and fans get a fair deal.

"Society has moved on from a few touts outside venues selling tickets at marked-up prices. The new issue is botnets, which buy up tens of thousands of tickets seconds after they've gone on sale, so genuine fans are unable to buy at source prices." Read more here.

Sebastian Bach Denies Michael Sweet Album Claim
(Classic Rock) Sebastian Bach denies a claim by Stryper singer Michael Sweet that he was asked to produce an album by the former Skid Row frontman. Sweet recently revealed that he was asked to help Bach return to a classic Skid Row-era sound by producing an album by the singer.

But Bach insists that was never the case. Responding to a comment by a fan on Twitter, Bach says: Fact: No member of Stryper was ever asked to produce any album by Sebastian Bach. Ever."

Sweet moved to clear up the matter by saying he was approached by Bach's label as opposed to the singer himself. Sweet tweeted: "I was asked by the label to produce @SebastianBach. I never said by Sebastian." Read more here.

Joke Saved Machine Head From Breaking Up
(TeamRock Radio) Machine Head mainman Robb Flynn has recalled how a joke about quitting saved the band from doing just that. Last year he revealed that he, drummer Dave McClain and manager Joey Huston had all threatened to leave at the same time, then laughed about it - but the moment made them realize that bassist Adam Duce had to go.

Now Flynn tells Full Metal Jackie: "We reached this point where we just couldn't take what was going on, and we laughed. All this frustration had been leading up to it for so long.

"We were like, 'What are we doing, man? The three of us have all independently come to this thought and we don't want to lose this thing.' So we made a decision to make a change - and here we are." Read more here.

Slipknot's Clown Inspired By Paul Gray
(TeamRock Radio) Slipknot's Clown says his artistic side was allowed to flourish thanks to the early support of his parents and the band's late bass player Paul Gray. And the percussionist, aka Shawn Crahan, says Gray - who died in 2010 - influences his artwork to this day. Crahan creates Slipknot's album artwork as well as other pieces and says he owes much of his expressiveness to childhood friend Gray, as well as his late parents who encouraged his artistic side.

Clown tells TeamRock Radio's Metal Hammer Magazine Show: "Paul loved my art. He believed in me all the way back then. He saw something in me. When I have my stuff I laugh and I'm like, 'This is some sick sh*t, he'd love this.' He's always on my mind man, he's always there.

"My mom must have recognised something really early because for whatever reason I grew up on fine art books like Rembrandt and Matisse that were written for kids. They were the photos very big, big sentences, very simple. And I have early childhood memories of staring at this stuff. Also Dr Seuss. Those were the two things in my world.

"That's really what started it. I'm positive my mom recognised it but she didn't push it. They always just encouraged me and were there for me. Everybody in my childhood and my life are always pushing that art on me, and it's who I am. It's what I live for." Read more here.

Pat Travers Goes Retro For Upcoming Album
(Classic Rock) Canadian guitar icon Pat Travers says he's stripped back his sound on his upcoming album Retro Rocket. It's set for launch on March 17 via Cleopatra and he reveals he took the decision as he wanted to capture the sound of the 70s.

He tells Classic Rock Revisited: "With Retro Rocket all I really did was just strip everything down. I had a '57 Gold Top Les Paul and no effects, and I just played it all one time through. I did a couple of overdubs, but nothing major. I just tried to get that raw kind of feel that bands were doing in the 70s because they had to - there was no other way to record then.

"More and more, I am using less and less of any kinds of effects on guitar. I am even using less guitar picks and I am playing my Fender Telecaster a lot more. I am into finding things on a simple guitar that sound great without having to sex them up to make them sound good."

He continues: "A couple of weeks ago I got thinking about Paul Kossoff and Free. I went on YouTube and called up a bunch of their early live concerts. I think I have as much of a connection with him as I do with Jimi Hendrix - maybe even more so." Read more here.

Steve Howe Releasing Solo Anthology
(Classic Rock) Yes and former Asia guitarist Steve Howe has curated a 33-track compilation entitled simply Anthology, which is to be released on March 10. The 2CD set contains material recorded between 1975 and 2011, and it's launched ahead of a 12-date UK tour.

Rhino Records say: "Anthology maps his musical journey across 36 years, 16 albums and countless genres. It provides an enlightening showcase for Howe's six-string prowess on songs like Pennants, The Collector, Maiden Voyage - one of many featuring his son Dylan on drums - and King's Ransom from his 2011 album Time. The collection also includes covers of two Bob Dylan songs, several cuts from Motif.

"In addition to selections from his studio albums, it also includes tracks from a pair of compilation albums: Sharp On Attack from 1988's Guitar Speak, and flamenco-flavored Mood For A Day, one of Howe's signature songs with Yes. The version included here is taken from the 1993 album Symphonic Music of Yes." Check out the track details here.

Monster Magnet Trying To Distance Themselves From Metal Reputation
(Classic Rock) Monster Magnet frontman Dave Wyndorf has revealed that working on last year's Milking The Stars has convinced the band to keep experimenting with their sound.

The album was an alternative take on their 2013 record Last Patrol. But rather than remixing the original tracks, the band reworked the entire recording in order to give it a psychedelic "weird 60s vibe."

And Wyndorf says the idea behind the project was to distance himself from the group's metal tag - something they'll continue to do. He tells Smells Like Infinite Sadness: "I keep trying to step away from Monster Magnet's reputation that we're a metal band - which is not the case and has never been. I guess me singing it and still playing loud music is still confusing people.

"So I'm like, 'You know something? How about this? Are we still metal guys?' So this is the way it's going to be from now on with me. That experiment just proved to me that I'll just do this stuff on a regular record from now on - even if I can't reproduce it live." Read more here.

Faith No More Star Discusses Comeback Album
(Classic Rock) Faith No More keyboardist Roddy Bottum promises the band won't let their fans down with their reunion record. The follow-up to 1997's Album Of The Year is expected later this year, following the release of a single entitled Superhero next month.

Bottum reports that bassist Billy Gould is nearing completion on the mixing, and that frontman Mike Patton has "done an amazing job" with his contribution.

He adds: "I can only say it sounds like us and it doesn't - in the best possible way. You know what to expect, and we are going to honor that expectation the only way we know how." Read more here.

The Used's Quinnn Allman Taking A Year Off
(TeamRock Radio) The Used guitarist Quinnn Allman is taking a year off from the band, he's announced. The move comes just ahead of the band's UK tour in support of sixth album Imaginary Enemy, launched in 2014.

Co-founder Allman will be replaced by Justin Shekoski of Saosin for 2015. The Used say: "We are saddened to announced that Quinn will be taking a temporary hiatus from the band for the next year.

"Quinn is a vital part of the group and we wish him the best in his upcoming endeavours, and look forward to the day he rejoins us on the road. We are thrilled to share that Justin will be filling in this year." Read more here.

Special Providence Set Release On New Album
(Prog) Hungarian progressive metal/jazz outfit Special Providence will release their fourth album in March, they've announced. Essence Of Change will launch on March 30 via their new label GEP and will be the follow-up to 2012's Soul Alert.

And the band say they decided on the name as 2014 was a year of transition for the group following the departure of keyboardist Zoltan Csery after a 10-year spell.

They say in a statement: "2014 was probably one of the most memorable years in the band's life with all the major changes and new adventures: The band member change, working on the new material, recording the new album and signing to a new label. These changes have taught us and given us a lot.

"We've learned about each other, about relationships, about life itself and above all, to deal with the flow of change which always allows us to be reborn time after time, to be creative, to take on and fight for new things, to change our beliefs and help us evolve. That's why the upcoming album is called Essence Of Change." Read more here.

Seven Year Storm Releasing Debut EP
(Prog) Seven Year Storm will launch their debut EP Aion I later this month, they've confirmed. They've made the track Dyatlov available to stream and download via their Bandcamp page and issued a video teaser for the EP.

The outfit is the brainchild of drummer Sean Lang and the five-track he recorded with guitarist Dean Lamb and bassist Brent Mackenzie will be released on February 24 thanks to an IndieGoGo crowdfunding drive.

The Vancouver-based band also plan to release EP Aion II later in the year and Lang, who is also a drum instructor, reveals he never initially intended to make his material public.

He says: "I am seriously passionate about drums - even more so about music. Over the past few years I have written hundreds of songs without any real plan to do anything with them.

"I played along to a few of these songs on some of my video lessons, and then requests like, 'When is this coming out?' started pouring in. My stock answer was always, 'It's not - it's just music I wrote for fun.' But after years of the same conversation, I finally got the hint."

Genesis Cofounder Anthony Phillips Reissuing Solo Album
(Prog) Genesis founding guitarist Anthony Phillips has announced that he will release the Definitive Edition of his 1997 solo debut, The Geese And The Ghost, on March 9 via Esoteric Recordings.

The three-disc set presents a remastered version of the original record, a second disc of demos and early versions, plus a DVD featuring a 5.1 Surround Sound mix. Unreleased tracks include the unreleased single version of Silver Song from 1973 and the previously unreleased Only Your Love - both with Phillips' former bandmate Phil Collins on vocals.

The project comes on the heels of the five-disc anthology Harvest Of The Heart, which offered a thorough 90-track career overview of Phillips' work and included 10 previously unreleased tunes. Read more here.

Devin Townsend Taking Fan Requests For Royal Albert Hall Show
(Prog) Devin Townsend has asked fans to make their setlist suggestions for his show at London's Royal Albert Hall in April. He wants those who won't be there to make their own choices, because the performance is likely to be released on DVD at a later date.

And he says his band are prepared to play anything at all from his catalogue - except material from his Strapping Young Lad era. The Canadian last year confirmed the Albert Hall show, which has sold out, ahead of three UK tour dates, saying he'd aim to outdo his 2012 Retinal Circus event at the same venue.

Now Townsend says: "I'm here to ask you what you'd like to hear if I was to do a by-request show for the second half of the Royal Albert Hall performance. We're going to do the Dark Matter and Ziltoid set, take a short break, come back and do a by-request." Read more here.

Pearl Jam and Soundgarden Rock Mad Season Tribute
(hennemusic) Members of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden performed a tribute to Seattle band Mad Season with the Seattle Symnphony as part of their Sonic Evolution series on January 30 and video from the shows has been posted online.

The show at Benaroya Hall saw Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready play three songs with the Symphony - under the direction of conductor Ludovic Morlot.

Commissioned by the Symphony, the songs included French composer Yann Robin's "Ashes", a piece inspired by Nirvana; "Beyond Much Difference" by Angelique Poteat and inspired by Pearl Jam; and, "Waking The Horizon", a piece conceived by McCready.

The Pearl Jam guitarist and the Symphony were then joined in the second half of the evening by bassist Duff McKagan, drummer Barrett Martin, Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell and Pearl Jam's Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Matt Cameron for a tribute to Mad Season, the 1990s Seattle supergroup made up of members from Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Screaming Trees.

The Sonic Evolution performance also included covers of two songs by Seattle supergroup Temple Of The Dog, "Call Me A Dog" and "Reach Down."

Mad Season released one album, "Above", in 1995 before going on permanent hiatus the following year due to the conflicting schedules of the group's members; Alice In Chains vocalist Layne Staley later died of a drug overdose in 2002.

Director Warned Kurt Cobain's Mother Before Watching Film
(Classic Rock) The director of the upcoming Kurt Cobain documentary says it features scenes that the Nirvana singer would have been embarrassed to let his mother see.

Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck director Brett Morgen says he warned Kurt's mother Wendy O'Connor about some of the scenes in the film , including Cobain discussing his drug use and intimate footage of him and his wife Courtney Love.

Morgen tells Rolling Stone: "When I showed Wendy the film for the first time, I told her there were things that no mother should see. And it was very difficult and painful for me to show her some of the stuff in the third act of the film.

"I know that she would prefer that not be in the movie, and I don't blame her. Even seeing him having intimate relations with Courtney - I don't think Kurt would have wanted Wendy to see that.

"But we weren't trying to bring him down. We were trying to look him in the eye. I didn't want to humiliate him. I don't think there has ever been, or will ever be, another movie about an icon that's this raw or intimate." Read more here.

It was recorded in Colorado last year when he played in front of the biggest audience of his career to date. He began the show by saying: "They always try to write off the blues - well, we've proven tonight that at least 9,000 people like the blues."

Muddy Wolf At Red Rocks will be released on multiple formats on March 24, with Blu-ray and DVD editions featuring over 90 minutes of bonus features, including behind-the-scenes video, photo gallery and more.

Uli Jon Roth Sometimes Glad Fans Film Gigs
(Classic Rock) Uli Jon Roth says he doesn't allow himself to get annoyed by fans recording his shows on their phones - and adds that sometimes he's glad they do. The guitar icon is on the road in the US ahead of the release of his upcoming double album of reworked Scorpions tracks - Scorpions Revisited, out on March 10 via UDR.

And while he understands that it could be a distraction, he won't insist fans keep their mobile phones in their pockets while he's on stage. Roth tells Rockeyez: "It could be annoying but I don't allow myself to be annoyed. Usually when they are standing in front of the guitar, that is all they hear and it sounds ridiculous.

"Sometimes it's actually welcome because sometimes we're on stage and then I think, 'Wow that was really good.' You play a song and it's a really good improv and I think, 'I wish I had recorded that.' And then I see a guy with a cellphone and I say, 'Oh yeah, someone did record it.'

"Yesterday that was exactly the case. We played in Seattle and we jammed for quite a long time and it was the best we ever did. I was hoping someone was there with a cellphone and recorded it." Read more here.

No Sin Evades His Gaze Release 'Filth' Video
(TeamRock Radio) The tech metal newbies No Sin Evades His Gaze have given TeamRock's Metal Hammer the premiere of their new video for the song Filth, which comes from the band's debut album Age Of Sedation.

Filth is the follow-up single to the title track. Speaking about the video, the band say: "While the Age Of Sedation video had quite a large, epic scope to fit the theme, we wanted Filth to be more fast-paced and somewhat chaotic.

"We had the idea of having the camera actually been pushed and thrown into the following shot to give the visuals quite a fluid and aggressive look. We're all incredibly stoked with the results!" Watch the video here.

Megadeth's David Ellefson Announces Peavey ReValver Artist Bundle
(hennemusic) Megadeth bassist David Ellefson has teamed up with Peavey for the David Ellefson ReValver Artist bundle. In association with Peavey's ReValver 4 amp modeling software, the bundle features the Hangar 18 bass amp and cabinet, modeled after the head and cabinet Ellefson uses for live shows.

Peavey has also leveraged its ground-breaking ACT(Audio Cloning Technology) process to capture instrument models of the bass guitars most associated with Ellefson.

To round out the bundle, Ellefson has personally created a bank of presets that recreate the sought-after signature sounds from throughout his career. "When Peavey approached me about introducing bass amp models to ReValver and developing a signature bundle," says Ellefson, "the thing that excited me the most was the opportunity to model my whole rig from the instrument, to the amp, to the cab."

"While I've always been aware of the depth at which Peavey models amplifiers, I think their ACT technology, which they use to model instruments, is pretty amazing."

"The results I've heard in the modeling process are really exciting. I hope this bundle will help players find their sound like I did. But mostly, I hope it makes them excited about playing." Read more and watch the promo video here.

Singled Out: You Win Again Gravity's Skyline
Today UK progressive/alternative outfit You Win Again Gravity tell us about their new single/video "Skyline" which comes from their latest EP "Let Go Lightly". Here is the story:

'Skyline' is the focus of the new EP, Let Go Lightly, and was the obvious choice for the first single. Amongst the other two tracks on the record, it ties together and concludes the theme of deciding between a life of secure conformity and uncertain creativity, and the arguments that can then ensue inside a person's head. This also ties in with the EP artwork and the video, where we wanted to create a mini-story to support this theme, but also help the song stand out without the need of the other two tracks to help explain it.

The video begins by introducing our main character, standing on bridge, clearly struggling internally with something, and outwardly struggling to create and sell his own music. He's living on the edge of poverty and is very quickly confronted by the dangers that come with that life. The second character enters during the middle section of the song; a confident, arrogant businessman, secure in his career and opinions. He refuses the work that our artist has put forward and from then on acts as a point of frustration, appearing obnoxious in his successful position and contrasting with the main character. This drives the artist into a rage and appears to give him the impetus he needs to send him back to the bridge we saw him at to begin with, where instead of meeting his own end, he finds someone familiar already there with similar intentions...

The idea behind this is that you can never tell much about someone from how they look, and that in our experience, it's not always the people that seem obviously downtrodden that are actually miserable. People are complex, and so on a simple level this purely reinforces the whole 'book/cover' motto, although it does also show that at least some of the best artists can face the most difficulty being recognised.
