Today's Day In Rock News!
Slipknot Member Suffers Injury(TeamRock Radio)
Slipknot's Sid Wilson has sustained another foot injury, he's revealed. In 2008 the disc spinner broke both heels after a stage jump went wrong, although he managed to appear at every show on the band's subsequent tour.
Now Wilson has revealed that he has hurt himself again - and although the damage to his left foot is less severe than last time, it's still causing him difficulties.
Wilson posted a photo of his injury with the caption, "I thought after a day off this would feel better, but it seems I haven't seen the worst of it yet. No high jumping on stage for the time being.
"I should still have some dance moves for ya all - just no flying." See Sid's post here.
Black Sabbath Reunion With Bill Ward Looks Unlikely(Classic Rock)
Tony Iommi has offered the strongest hint yet that Bill Ward won't be part of Black Sabbath's upcoming farewell tour but he also says that a final album from the group "could happen".
The drummer dropped out of the band's 2011 reunion and subsequent album, saying he hadn't been offered a "signable" contract. The disagreement later exploded into a war of words between him and frontman Ozzy Osbourne.
Sabbath recorded 2013 album 13 with Rage Against The Machine sticksman Brad Wilk, then toured with Tommy Clufetos behind the kit. And although Iommi and Ward caught up at a recent awards ceremony, the guitarist says an original lineup reunion is unlikely as they work towards their last-ever tour.
Asked if Ward will play with Sabbath again, Iommi tells Gigwise: "No, to be honest. I don't know if that's going to happen. But who knows? You never know."
Sabbath's plans may or may not include a final album. "We've got some tracks we recorded with Rick Rubin," says the guitarist. "When we did our last album we made 16 tracks, but we only put eight on the album. There are tracks there that could possibly show their face at some point." He also discussed their final tour plans. Read about that here.
Adam Lambert Recreates Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Video(Radio.com)
Current Queen frontman Adam Lambert has recreated the legendary band's iconic video for "Bohemian Rhapsody" with the help of British comedian Alan Carr.
Lambert burst onto America's radar singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" during his audition for American Idol. His soaring vocals caught the attention of the band and they asked him to step in as lead vocalist for multiple tours.
British comedian Alan Carr wanted to keep Lambert's love for Queen alive by recruiting him to recreate the iconic video for "Bohemian Rhapsody." The pair premiered their video on Carr's show Chatty Man.
Both Lambert and Carr play two members of Queen. Neither one miss a beat performing the lyrics in the video. Adam seems like he was having the time of his life. Alan Carr looked crazy in that wig, but it was all for the production of the video. Check the clip here.
Motley Crue Play More Farewell Shows Without Injured Tommy Lee(hennemusic)
Drummer Tommy Lee has missed the past four dates on Motley Crue's farewell tour as he continues to recover from a case of tendonitis. Lee was first diagnosed with the injury to his left wrist last week in Buffalo, NY and was pulled from the show on doctor's orders.
"I'm so sorry to say that i'm unable to play drums tonight guys!!," Lee tweeted on October 14. "I woke up at 3am with tendonitis!! f***!!! Cant even hold a drumstick!"
Tourmate and Alice Cooper drummer Glen Sobel filled in for Lee at the group's final show in the city, and sat in again in Bridgeport, CT on October 16, Manchester, NH on October 17 and Bangor, ME on October 18.
"Rocked w/ Alice & covered for Tommy in Crue one more time tonight in Bangor, Maine," posted Sobel on his social media sites on Sunday. "He so wants to get back behind the kit but needed just a bit more time to make sure his wrist is good to go. He's been amazing through all this and is a class act who cheers me on during these last 4 shows.
"Tomorrow is a day off in Quebec City so that gives more time for healing & rest. Hopefully we'll be seeing T Lee rockin the kit for that show on Tuesday." Read more here.

Black Veil Brides Cancel Show Due To C.C. Coma Injury
Black Veil Brides announced that they have been forced to cancel their show in Ventura, Ca on Thursday night (October 22nd) to allow drummer C.C. Coma time to recover from a torn ligament in his hand.
The band are at the tail end of a North American tour and Coma has been playing with the injury but a doctor has ordered him to take a few days off before the band resume the final two dates of the tour on Friday in Santa Ana, Ca and an appearance at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento on Saturday.
The band posted the following message on here on Monday, "We are sorry to announce that due to an unforeseen injury we will not be able to perform in Ventura. Our drummer, CC, has been fighting through a torn ligament in his hand which has been made worse by the current tour and travel schedule.
"We will be returning to Los Angeles for him to see a specialist to heal his hand to the best of his abilities. It has been suggested by the doctor that we give him a few days off before he returns to the stage in Santa Ana.
"We intend on playing both the Orange County and Sacramento shows to finish off the run, if his injury permits. Again we apologize for the inconvenience and will make up the show at a later date, however at this point we just cannot take the risk of him exasperating an injury that could render him unable to play in the future. Please send your positive thoughts and good vibes his way as he deals with this pain."

Iron Maiden To Headline Download Festivals(hennemusic)
Iron Maiden will headline a pair of Download festivals in 2016. The group will top the bill at the debut Download event at Longchamps Racecourse in Paris, France on June 10 before returning to their native UK for the annual concert weekend at Donington Park on June 12.
The homecoming will mark the band's only UK appearance of 2016 as they tour the world in support of "The Book Of Souls." Frontman Bruce Dickinson had this to say, "Download is a very special place for us.
"Not just because it's always great to play on home turf but because there's a truly unique vibe there, it's the very heart of England and of metal, so a fitting place for Iron Maiden.
"The crowd is always fiercely passionate and the whole band feeds off that famous Donington energy. We aim to deliver a really memorable show for our fans to close the 2016 Festival. Although this is our sixth time headlining at Castle Donington, it's the first time we've been able to land Ed Force One right on the doorstep of the festival site." Read more here.
Anthrax have announced that they will be releasing an expanded 30th anniversary edition of their iconic 1985 album "Spreading The Disease" on November 20.
Produced by Anthrax with Carl Canedy, the project marked the first Anthrax album to feature singer Joey Belladonna and bassist Frank Bello and included classics like "Madhouse", "Armed & Dangerous" and "The Enemy."
The expanded 2-disc reissue presents previously unreleased bonus material including Belladonna's 1984 demo recording of the song "Medusa", nine "rhythm tracks" from Anthrax recordings also done in 1984 - no vocals, no overdubs or "sweetening," just drums, some guitar, a bit of bass, showing the songs in their naked, most basic form - and eight live songs from the group's 1987, first-ever concert in Japan, held at Tokyo's Sun Plaza.
"We wanted to do something special for our fans to celebrate the anniversary of Spreading The Disease," says drummer Charlie Benante. "We took the idea to Universal a couple of years ago and have been very hands-on with them, creating this special, deluxe edition that we think our fans will really like."
"We didn't know what we were doing, but we totally knew what we were doing," added guitarist and founder Scott Ian. "I know that doesn't make sense, but it's where we were at, a bunch of 21 year-old kids making our major label debut on a shoestring budget with nothing but a dream and a bunch of songs that we thought killed.
"We were right and our dream came true. Thank you to all the fans that put this record and Anthrax on the map way back when and still support us today. Cheers my friends!" Check out the track details and the interview with Ian and Benante here.

The Scorpions eventually changed their minds, returned to the studio to record a new album, "Return To Forever", and hit the road for a 50th anniversary tour.
"Seeing all these old fans, the new fans coming," says guitarist Rudolf Schenker, "everything was sold out, and getting told by the fans what the music means for them, then we more and more", understood that the time wasn't right for the band to retire." Read more here.

"Been in the studio working on my solo instrumental CD I began when writing Rocks my autobio, but didn't have enough time," tweeted Perry. "It'll have diversity, maybe 1-2 songs with me singing or another singer, but mainly it'll be an instrumental album."

Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell Shares Valuable Lesson From Cancer Fight(Classic Rock)
Vivian Campbell's cancer battle has taught him the value of trusting his instincts when it comes to his health. And the Def Leppard guitarist believes it's a lesson others should learn as early as they can.
His treatment for Hogkin's lymphoma continues after he was originally misdiagnosed by medics who thought he was suffering from a persistent bug.
Campbell tells 93.3 WMMR: "I remember getting this head cold and flu-like symptoms, and a doctor gave me some antibiotics. Five or six weeks later I had the same thing come back, and the one thing that was constant was this cough that wouldn't go away.
"My doctor said, 'Sometimes it takes time for these things to heal up.' A respiratory doctor gave me an inhaler and nasal spray. I said, 'This isn't really getting any better,' and he'd just give me a stronger inhaler."
After a year he insisted on an X-ray, which identified there was a more serious problem. "A very brilliant doctor said she was pretty sure I had Hodgkin's lymphoma," Campbell recalls. "We did a biopsy a couple of days later, and there you go - Hodgkin's lymphoma."
He reflects: "One thing it taught me is that you really have to advocate for your own health. If you know something's wrong, even though doctors are very well educated, nobody knows your body like yourself. I knew something was wrong and my doctors just weren't listening." Wilson Release Video For 'Right To Rise' Title Track(Classic Rock)
Wilson have released a video for the title track of the recent long-player Right To Rise. The album is the follow-up to the band's 2013 debut Full Blast F***ery, while the video was shot in the band's hometown of Detroit, and features both the city's ruins and its rejuvenation.
"When we wrote the song we wanted to tell a story about the area of the world we live in. After traveling so much the past few years, we realise the magnifying glass that the media has put on Detroit has damaged not only our city's image, but more importantly our peoples' image. We all struggle with life's weight, no matter where we live in this world... our peoples' story is not unlike the millions of other people out there put against the wall daily, cast aside as underdogs and thought of as 'already dead'. It's through the struggle to survive in those conditions that we create our strengths.
"What we've tried to achieve visually is to tell a story through the point of view of a pack of dogs, moving through the blight of our city; the places most identifiable to the rest of the world. The abandoned house the band performs in starts to crumble as the 'underdogs' move from the rubble of our past into the present parts of Detroit's rebuild, showing our people coming together in strength to unite as one. It's a picture of hope and growth through hard work, resilience and ingenuity, while honouring our past as we rise towards our future." Watch the video here.

Starr tells Rolling Stone: "If you're going to play a song by the Black Crowes you need to bring your A game. Those guys were one of the best rock'n'roll bands of the last 20 years. Whenever we do a Crowes song I always think, 'We better play it right.'" Watch video here.

Singled Out: Essence's Untouchable
Lasse Skov from acclaimed Danish thrash metal band Essence tells us about the song "Untouchable" from their brand new album "Prime", which was released earlier this month by Spinefarm. Here is the story:
We were in the studio for three years making a thrashy as hell album - like we've done it for the past 10 years. Everything was on the routine. Like when you're going day-in-day-out in school or at your job. The funny thing is; you never realize you're changing before you stop up and look back.
During the recording sessions I took time off to go traveling. I find inspiration from going on wild adventures and this time the destination was Mount Everest. The trip gave me a needed break where I got the chance to stop up and look back at everything - our recordings, songwriting and the direction we were headed. By then I realized that we had changed a lot as persons, musicians and as a band. So why not embrace this change and write some music that reflect who we really are, instead of doing exactly what we've always done and what people expect us to do?
"Untouchable" is a product of not realizing a natural change and it's what makes it such a great song. There are no magic tricks or a great plan. It's just about letting go and let life take you where you're supposed to go. Following your natural path is what makes happiness and that's what life is all about.
When I was in the helicopter looking back at Mount Everest and seeing the clouds, avalanches and blizzard storms I told myself to be who I am instead of trying to be somebody I'm not. It's funny in a super absurd way that I had to get that far out before realizing that being yourself is the most important thing in the world. I'll never change that. And I'll keep writing songs like "Untouchable" to share them with cool kids who just don't give a fox.

Classic Guns N' Roses Stars To Jam With Billy Idol At Benefit Show
Billy Idol has been added to the lineup of an all-star jam featuring former classic era Guns N' Roses stars Duff McKagan and Gilby Clarke, as well as later GNR member Josh Freese and more for a cancer charity benefit concert.
The event is set to take place on November 3rd at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles and will benefit Rhonda's Kiss, which is a charity that helps cancer patients that can not afford treatment.
The concert will be lead by The Hellcat Saints, a collective formed by Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner. Apart from Idol and the former Guns N' Roses stars, the lineup of the band for this event will also include Jane's Addiction's Dave Navarro, Juliette Lewis, Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, and pop star Kesha.
Kushner had this to say about the reason for the event, "Many people close to us have been touched personally by cancer, as I know first-hand, as the two most important women in my life have been affected cancer. I believe that, regardless of our backgrounds, access to treatment to beat this disease should be available to everyone."
Actor and comedian Bill Burr (Breaking Bad, Walk of Shame) will be the MC for the special event and will also be performing a 30-minute comedy set. Find more details, including ticket information, here.

Chrissie Hynde Talks 'Lynch Mob' Reaction To Rape Controversy(Classic Rock)
Chrissie Hynde says the backlash from her sexual assault comments is like being the victim of a lynch mob. The Pretenders frontwoman encountered controversy in August when she discussed her opinions on the subject, after writing about her own experience of being attacked by a biker gang when she was 21.
Referring to the passage in her autobiography Reckless, Hynde said she took responsibility for the incident, adding: "If I'm walking around in my underwear and I'm drunk, who else's fault can it be?"
That led to a flood of negative comments, including rape victim Jackie Fox, formerly of the Runaways, who said: "This is just telling people who've gone through this experience, 'You're right, it is your fault.'"
Now Hynde tells NPR: "I'm not going to describe it because I've written about it in the book. But what I can say is, I never said I was raped. I've never used the word and it's not in the book."
She adds: "I'm just telling my story. You know, it's almost like a lynch mob. I'd rather say, 'Just don't buy the f***ing book, if I've offended someone. Don't listen to my records.'
"I'm not here trying to advise anyone or tell anyone what to do, or tell anyone what to think, and I'm not here as a spokesman for anyone." Read more here.
David Gilmour Releases Animated 'The Girl In The Yellow Dress' Video(hennemusic)
David Gilmour has released an animated video for "The Girl In The Yellow Dress", the latest single from "Rattle That Lock." It's the third video issued from the Pink Floyd guitarist's fourth solo album, following the title track and "Today."
Rattle That Lock" was recorded at various places, including Gilmour's Astoria houseboat studio and in Hove, Sussex, UK. The guitarist worked on the project with co-producer Phil Manzanera and wife and lyricist Polly Samson.
Gilmour launched a world tour in support of the record with a September 5 warm-up show in Brighton, UK before playing a sold-out 11-date European tour that included five shows at The Royal Albert Hall in London.
The guitarist will next perform dates in South America this December ahead of a North American run in the spring of 2016. Watch the new video and a behind the scenes clip with Gilmour here.
Waylon Reavis Explains Departure From Mushroomhead(TeamRock Radio)
Former Mushroomhead singer Waylon Reavis says he's relieved to be free of "the burden" of being in the band. He confirmed this week he had left the group and cut all ties with their label, Filthy Hands Company, over "irreconcilable differences."
In a fresh video update, Reavis explains he's glad it's over and that the disagreements are no longer his "problem." Reavis says: "It's over and I'm so relieved. I'm at home with my family. For the first time in a long time, I don't feel a burden of Mushroomhead, and it did feel like a burden to me. It's not my burden, it's not my problem any more, and I'm glad it's gone."
He adds that he wishes the band well going forward, but admits he was unhappy for some time. He says: "I was planning this - it just happened a little sooner than I thought it would. I really wasn't happy. I hadn't been in a while.
"I have not been there in a while. I've been checked out. I've been doing my own thing. My heart wasn't there. My soul wasn't there. My time in Mushroomhead had run its course.
He continues: "I have 11 years of wonderful memories, but I'm ready for something else in my life. I'm ready for a change. I've lived the same monotony for too long. I just didn't agree with a lot of the decisions and where we were going, and that's fine - that's part of life. You don't have to agree with everything." Twenty One Pilots Want To Have 'Some Sort Of Impact On The World'(TeamRock Radio)
Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun says he and Tyler Joseph's dream is for their music to resonate across the world. And he says while performing live is always a challenge, it's something the duo relish.
Dun tells the Houston Press: "We've both always wanted to be a part of something that has some sort of impact on the world. There's a lot of music that doesn't say or do much.
"And that's OK - there's a time and place for it, and I listen to a lot of it too. But, at the same time, there are people who are looking for something a bit more than that."
Dun refers to walking on stage as a "battle" but insists it's an experience he and Joseph always look forward to. He adds: "I think that the moment when I walk onstage and I don't feel like there's anything to overcome, that's when I might just want to be done." Read more here.
Orphaned Land's Kobi Covers Leonard Cohen Classic With Choir(TeamRock Radio)

Orphaned Land are heading out across Europe for a special unplugged tour with the Stimmgewalt choir, treating fans to something a little different. "We play songs we never played before along with specially rearranged versions of our well known songs... This is an enchanting show, and on some cities its in a church! See you all soon!" Frank Zappa's Widow Gail Dead At 70(Radio.com)
Gail Zappa, wife to the late-Frank Zappa and mother to Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet and Diva has died at the age of 70. She died away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Oct. 7, surrounded by her children.
The Zappa matriarch was born Adelaide Gail Sloatman. She married the avante-garde rocker Frank Zappa when she was 22. According to a statement released by the Zappa family, "Gail was a doe-eyed, barefooted trailblazer, giving equal value to her domestic and professional responsibilities as matriarch of the family and overseer of all Zappa enterprises. She devoted herself to partnering with her husband in the music business and raising their children, Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet and Diva."
Following Frank Zappa's death to prostate cancer in 1993, Gail took control of her late-husband's estate to create the Zappa Family Trust, to ensure his legacy as a masterful composer and a hugely important artist would remain intact. Gail went on to establish clear definitions of intellectual property and copyright laws on behalf of not just her husband, but all artists. Read more here.
Billy Sherwood Releases 'No Man's Land' Video(Prog)
Yes bassist Billy Sherwood has released a video for his track No Man's Land. The track comes from his solo concept album Citizen, out on November 6 via Frontiers Music and tells the tale of a "lost soul reincarnated in various historical settings."
No Man's Land - which features guitarist Steve Morse - focuses on the story of a World War I runner, who passes messages between generals and men in the trenches. Sherwood says: "You get the idea that he's the only guy who walked away from the battle."
Along with Morse's contribution, Citizen features guest appearances from Alan Parsons, Steve Hackett, John Wetton, Tony Kaye, Steve Hillage, Partrick Moraz, John Wesley, Jerry Goodman, Dixie Dregs, Colin Moulding, Geoff Downes, Jordan Rudess, Rick Wakeman, Jon Davison and the late Chris Squire. Downes Braide Association Stream New Song 'Machinery Of Fate'(Prog)
Geoff Downes and Chris Braide have premiered their lyric video for latest track Machinery Of Fate via Prog. It's taken from second Downes Braide Association album Suburban Ghosts.
Braide recently said of the new album which arrives on November 6 via Cherry Red Records, "It's an album about isolation and loneliness in small-town suburbia.
"Now everyone has long gone, you're haunted by images of those former frost-covered school gates, the laughter of children in the park and the lovers you once loved - the alternative life you could have lived." Check out the new song here.
Monkeyjunk Avoided Writing 'Another Moaning Record'(The Blues)
Monkeyjunk frontman Steve Marriner hopes the band's latest album will be an uplifting experience - and prove once again that they're more than a straight blues band.
The award-winning Canadian trio released Moon Turn Red last month, as the follow-up to 2013's All Frequencies. Marriner tells the Ottawa Citizen: "A lot of people's reality is that it's a day-to-day struggle. But just writing another moaning record isn't doing anyone any good.
"A lot of these songs and stories are designed to be uplifting. I came up with complaining lyrics - but wanted something to make the hippies dance at festivals. Sometimes the word 'love' is all you need. Everyone loves love."
And although he's keen to emphasis the band's other strengths, Marriner doesn't want to abandon their roots altogether. "Are we a blues band? Yes," he says. "But we're also a soul band, a funk band, a rock band. It depends on the day." Hear the new album's opening track Light It Up here.
Neck Deep Announce 2016 World Tour(TeamRock Radio)
Neck Deep have announced the biggest UK headline tour of their career so far as part of their 2016 world tour which includes shows in Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.
The pop punk outfit will play five dates in February of next year, with support from State Champs, Creeper and Light Years. Neck Deep issued second album Life's Not Out To Get You in August.
Neck Deep frontman Ben Barlow says: "These UK dates will be awesome. It's going to be the first time we get to play a lot of material from LNOTGY live on our home turf, and we are super stoked on the supports.
"The State Champs boys are good friends of ours, and ever since we last toured together have been itching to get out on the road together again. Creeper are one of the UK's best up-and-comers, and Light Years are a massively underrated band that everyone needs to 100% make sure they get down early to see." Read more and see the dates here.
Michael Monroe Hasn't Lost His Inspiration(Classic Rock)
Michael Monroe's latest album entitled Blackout States is out on October 9 - and the former Hanoi Rocks singer says that he's been through too many character building experiences to let his standards drop at this stage in his career.
He tells Mitch Lafon: "I get inspired by everything I hear and see from my life in general. The more mileage you have, the more experience and more stuff you have to write about. The songs are mainly about personal experiences. I actually feel pretty happy. I've never been complacent.
"Some people say you have to suffer for good art. I've suffered enough. I've got enough character - I don't need to build any more character. You don't have to really be in dire straits to write a good song."
He continues: "It's positive energy. I like to write about things that make people raise some questions. You don't have to turn your brain off to have a good time." Read more here.
John Lennon 75th Birthday Celebrated With Giant Peace Sign(Classic Rock)
John Lennon's 75th birthday was marked in New York on Tuesday (October 6) with a giant human peace sign in Central Park. The late Beatle's wife Yoko Ono arranged the gesture, with the help of 2000 fans, who stood in the shape of the symbol originally used by the UK's Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
She'd hoped to set a new world record - but the previous one, in which a peace sign was created by over 5000 people, remains. Lennon, who released peace anthem Imagine in 1978, was born on October 9, 1940, and shot dead on December 8, 1980.
Ono told fans: "Thank you for coming today. I really appreciate it. I love you!" She'll mark her late husband's actual birthday in Iceland, where she'll relight the Imagine Peace Tower beacon in his memory.

Dee Snider Launches New Attack On KISS Frontman Paul Stanley
Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider fired a new shot in his ongoing feud with KISS frontman Paul Stanley during a recent appearance on The Real Radio Show.
The war of words erupted between the two frontman after Snider took issue with KISS continuing to use the make-up characters of Ace Frehley and Peter Criss after the two founding members left the band. Snider said that he believed that new members wearing the same makeup as Frehley and Criss was an insult to fans.
During the new interview Snider expressed disbelief shock at the attention the feud has received. He said (via Radio.com, "Look, it's crazy how international this feud between me and Paul Stanley has become. Not bad for a 'wannabe' or a 'buffoon.' " Snider was referred to names that Stanley had called him.
"Let me lay out my KISS credentials," Snider said "[I] own the first seven albums. I bought the first album before it had 'Kissin' Time' on it. I bought it in February, 'cause I lived in Nassau County, they lived in Queens, and there was a rumor about this cool band that had an album coming out, and I got it the minute it came out.
"I have stood in front of a mirror and lipsynched Paul Stanley vocals, made Paul faces in the mirror, okay? So I don't think I'm out of line to say that I have an opinion and that I feel that the Ace Frehley impersonator playing guitar now is an insult to fans."
Snider then took aim at Paul Stanley, "Paul, I love your band, I love your music. Why do you have to be such a dick? Alice Cooper is not a dick. Alice Cooper has inspired a million people and he's the coolest guy in the world, yet Gene and Paul, they've got this arrogance about them, like the world owes them something. We do owe you something, but let us offer it; don't insist we buy it from you."
Megadeth Cut Concert Short Due To Government Censorship?
Megadeth reportedly cut the opening show of their Dystopia tour short on Tuesday night (October 6th) in Beijing, China, according to The Beijinger, who speculates that it may have been done due to government censorship.
The blog reports that the show at the Huiyuan Space only last an hour and was filled with the band performing instrumental versions of songs like "Skin of My Teeth" and extended guitar solos.
The report also says that the band did not play some of the most popular songs of their 32-year-career like "Holy Wars/The Punishment Due" and "Angry Again."
The Beijinger speculates that the show may have been shortened or stopped by government officials because of comments made by frontman Dave Mustaine to the audience after the band's performance of the final song of the set "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?"
Mustaine reported told the fans, "Thank you for leaving so that we can come back and play again." The audience then left the venue without incident. Read the full report here.

David Bowie's TV Theme Song 'Blackstar' Premieres Online(hennemusic)
David Bowie's "Blackstar", a song he was commissioned to write as the theme for a new crime series, The Last Panthers, has been revealed via the opening credits to the program which will premiere next month across Europe on Sky Atlantic and on CANAL + in France .
A portion of the tune can be heard over the opening credits to the 6-episode program, which will star Samantha Morton, Tahar Rahim and John Hurt when it debuts on November 12.
Bowie hooked up with director Johan Renck to discuss the series while it was still in the early stages of production. "I showed Mr. Bowie the two first episodes in the rough state they were at the time, and he liked what he saw very much," says Renck. "We discussed the various aspects of the show; naturally the plot line, but also the underlying currents of guilt and personality flaws.
"We talked about the dark heart of Europe. We talked about the biblical aspects of human nature. He asked if there was anything else to see, so I showed him the first concept board I had just made for the title sequence - images from the show laced with chimaeras and demons from the worlds of Bosch and Grunewald.
"That's when he said go - it all fits. Then he played me his new song Blackstar." The tune marks Bowie's first new song since 2014's "Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)" single. Check out the song via the show credits here.

AC/DC's Phil Rudd Is A Changed Man Says Attorney(Classic Rock)
An attorney for former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd says that the rock star has "moved well beyond" the drama that saw him convicted of making a death threat.
Rudd, 61, was arrested last year after making threats on the life of an employee. The drummer later admitted he was fighting a drug addiction at the time.
Tuck says: "He is complying with his home detention, which means he's not drinking alcohol, not taking drugs. There was a meltdown, and there were behaviors which Phil really has moved well beyond.
"Phil has done a lot of work on himself and he's gone from strength to strength. Things have moved on from that time. We're well into the detention sentence and out the other side - and life is moving on." Read more here.
Devil You Know Release 'The Way We Die' Video(TeamRock Radio)
Devil You Know have released a video for their track The Way We Die, which comes from the band's second album entitled They Bleed Red, out on November 6. They're led by former Killswitch Engage frontman Howard Jones and their latest release follows 2014 debut The Beauty Of Destruction.
Drummer John Sankey tells Loudwire of the video: "What metalhead doesn't want to see hot tattooed girls dancing and stripping while listening to heavy guitar riffs, thunderous bass, pummeling drums and HOJO singing about The Way We Die? It's the perfect heavy metal storm.
"We had no interest in doing another performance video with us jamming out, since we did that last album and wanted to shake things up. This was all about us having fun, getting crazy, living the dream and sharing it with the world to enjoy." Watch the video here.
Phil Collins Streams Previously Unreleased Track From Reissue Campaign(Classic Rock)
Former Genesis frontman Phil Collins has released a stream of a previously unheard live version of his 1981 hit, "If Leaving Me Is Easy". It's taken from the bonus disc of the reissued version of his classic album of the same year, Face Value.
Face Value and 1993's *Both Sides *are being reissued on November 6, as the singer launches the Take A Look At Me Now campaign, which will see all his solo albums remastered and re-released in expanded form. The reissues have been curated by Collins' himself, and come with updated artwork, the original cover portraits having been re-shot. The extra tracks, many of which have never been issued on CD before, attempt to show how Collins's songs have evolved over time by contrasting the original studio versions with later concert performances.
"I've always been quite proud of my demos and have often made them available as B-sides, but with a few exceptions, I have avoided including those on these collections," says Collins. "Instead, I've focused on how nicely the songs developed when played on stage, rather than showing how they originated."
Each album in the series has been remastered by Nick Davis, who has worked on a number of Genesis projects, including the 1970-1975, 1976-1982 and 1983-1998 box sets. Read more and stream the song here.

"In this video you will see where our minds take us before you're left at another cliffhanger, scratching your heads. We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we have enjoyed making it." Watch the video here.
The Electric Boys Announce New Band Member(Classic Rock)
The Electric Boys have announced that they have added a fifth member to their lineup in order to make live dates more cost-effective. Jolle Atlagic has become a permanent addition to the European band, and he'll split tour duties with old hand Niclas Sigevall, who's lived in the US for many years.
The band say: "Let's face it - jammin' is kinda difficult across the Atlantic. The budget can't handle flying Niclas in for a gig here and there, which is how Jolle came into the picture.
"On the tours with Hanoi Rocks, Jolle and Andy Christell really locked in, so it was a natural step. On the upcoming tours, Jolle will do the Dan Reed Network tour in the UK, and Niclas will do the Swedish dates and the rest of the European tour with FM." Read more including their upcoming dates and watch the announcement video here.
Monster Magnet Streaming Cobras And Fire Redux Album Online(hennemusic)
Monster Magnet have released an online stream of their full forthcoming album, "Cobras And Fire (The Mastermind Redux)", ahead of its official release this Friday, October 9.
The project sees the New Jersey band overhaul their 2010 album, "Mastermind", with revamped instrumentation including organ, piano and sitars…following the work they did with 2013's "Last Patrol" for its reissue as "Milking The Stars: A Re-imagining Of Last Patrol."
"With Cobras And Fire I wanted to present these songs in a much stranger and dirtier atmosphere," says frontman Dave Wyndorf. "Less 'classic rock' and more... well, I'd guess I'd call it a deranged fusion of garage-psych, fuzz punk and movie soundtrack music.
"All in all I call this the weirdest Monster Magnet yet, and that's a good thing! I hope you like it! Rock on!" Stream the album here.
Hawkwind's Dave Brock Announces New Solo Album(Prog)
Hawkwind's Dave Brock has announced that he will release his solo album, entitled Brockworld on November 16 via Hawkward Records and has revealed the track details for the effort.
The follow-up to 2012's Looking For Love In The Lost Land Of Dreams is described as "an eclectic compendium of psychedelic rock songs, interspersed with evocative instrumentals and experimental tunes."
The 15-track title has been written and performed almost entirely by Brock, who won a Lifetime Achievement Award at 2013's Prog Awards. A statement explains: "From the moment this album bursts out into Life Without Passion, through the heavy space drone of Horizon, to the wryly engaging Falling Out Of Love and the kaleidoscopic twists and turns of Age Of Psychedelia, this album aptly captures Dave's roving creativity." Check out the song details here.
Lonely Robot Release 'The Boy In The Radio' Video(Prog)
John Mitchell has premiered his latest Lonely Robot video with Prog. The Boy In The Radio features Peter Cox of Go West, who also appears in the promo.
The track appears on Lonely Robot debut album Please Come Home, launched earlier this year via InsideOut. Mitchell says: "The Boy In The Radio is a fictional tale about an insular kid who only finds his true voice when he shifts into a greater dimension. A big thank you to Peter Cox for contributing his time and energy - and in doing so, making this boy's dream a reality."
He's joined by Caroline Campbell, Lauren Storer and Craig Blundell for two live shows in December, at the Boerderij, Zoetermeer, Netherlands on December 4, and London's Scala on December 20. He also appears at Touchstone's farewell shows on November 20 and 21. Read more and watch the video here.
Crippled Black Phoenix Stream New Song 'Spider Island'(Prog)
Crippled Black Phoenix have premiered a stream of their track Spider Island, which comes from the band's New Dark Age Tour EP, their first release via Season Of Mist Records - and comes after mainman Justin Greaves reactivated the band following a fall-out with his former colleagues.
Greaves says: "It really feels as if we are living in a new dark age. Religious and political oppression, the population being fed constant untruths… it reminds us of the priests in the middle ages telling folk about dog-headed monsters living in the woods - but if you repent and join the church, they will protect you."
He adds: "The song Spider Island is more personal. There I mentally put all the bad people. Recently there have been a few people who need to go to Spider Island and live a life of torture, along with all the other scumbags who cling to power in the world."
Greaves is joined in the revamped lineup by Daniel Anghede, Mark Furnevall, Ben Wilsker, Daisy Chapman, Niall Hone, Jonas Stalhammar and Belinda Kordic. They released the track Childhoods End in August through TeamRock and will start a European tour with four UK dates next month. Check out the new song here.
Chris Cornell Believes Soundgarden Are Underrated(Classic Rock)
Chris Cornell argues in a new interview that Soundgarden have spent their career being underrated - even if it does make him sound arrogant. The band returned with King Animal in 2012 after a 13-year hiatus.
The group is currently working on what will be their seventh studio album, and the frontman last month reported they were making "serious headway" in the studio.
Now Cornell tells Status magazine: "I could say that, maybe on some levels, Soundgarden is underrated. If I could say all the arrogant things about my band, I think that out of all the rock bands that came out in the same era, we're one of the most experimental." Read more here.
Swallow The Sun Stream New Song Track 'Heartstrings Shattering'(Prog)
Swallow The Sun have released a lyric video for their track Heartstrings Shattering. The song comes from upcoming triple album Songs From The North I, II & III, which is out on November 13 via Century Media.
The Finnish band's mainman Juha Raivio says: "Making a triple album in this godforsaken digital and modern day and age - many will say it's madness. I say it is to bring worth, heart and respect back into the music and to the album format where it belongs."
Songs From The North I, II & III will be available as special edition 3CD box, a limited deluxe edition 5LP+3CD box and as digital album. The band launch a European tour in Berlin on November 26. Check out the new song here.

Metallica Release 'Harvester Of Sorrow' Live Video(hennemusic)
Metallica have released video footage of their performance of their 1988 classic "Harvester Of Sorrow" which took place during their September 16 show in Quebec City.
The tune was the lead single from the band's fourth album, "…And Justice For All", which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 on its way to racking up sales of more than 8 million copies in the States alone.
Metallica's video highlight package also includes drummer Lars Ulrich in the meet and greet as well as the group warming up in the Tuning Room before the show.
The September 16 date was the first event at the city's brand new Centre Vidéotron. "Always one of our favorite places to visit, Quebec City also has a long history of being the home to some of the most rabid 'Tallica fans anywhere," said the band. "It only seems fitting that we share this special passing of the torch with you!" Check out the video here.
Singled Out: Short Stack's Gravity
Shaun Diviney, the leader of the Australian group Short Stack, tells us the story behind their song "Gravity," which comes from their brand new third studio album "Homecoming". Here is the story:
I live on the beach and write a lot of songs in my head while surfing. The idea to this came to me while out in the ocean one day, of finger picking almost single notes as if to make it sound like you were in a barrel or under water, and then juxtapose it with a really harsh chorus, with pounding drums. I like that juxtaposition, it's just like the ocean. Fluidity meets chaos.
When we were in London recording the album we just started jamming and the song came to life in a really organic way. We recorded with producer, Chris Kimsey, who has worked on Rolling Stones & INXS, and we all really vibed on this tune, staying up until 3am a few nights in a row getting the tones perfect and the mood right.
Lyric-wise the song deals with how I feel people's worlds always need a centre, a kind of constant. I feel our lives are pretty crazy, it's easy to get carried away with it all, but it's important to always have that feeling of "home" whether, it's a place or a person.

Guns N' Roses Star Seriously Hurt In Motorcycle Crash(Classic Rock)
The Dead Daisies will be without Richard Fortus on their upcoming Australian tour after the guitarist was seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash. Fortus, who is also a member of Guns N' Roses, suffered multiple broken bones and a lacerated liver, but says he will make a full recovery.
He expects that he'll be back onboard for the band's scheduled appearance on the Kiss Kruise, which sets sail from Miami on October 30. His place for the Australia and New Zealand dates will be filled by Dave Leslie from Aussie band The Baby Animals.
Fortus says: "On September 17, I was involved in a motorcycle accident. As a result, I broke my shoulder blade, collar bone, six ribs, a toe, I have a bruised lung, lacerated liver and a concussion.
"Amazingly, my doctors have assured me that I will make a full recovery. I have never missed a show in my entire career and unfortunately, I will have to miss the entire Australian and New Zealand leg of this tour. I am devastated that I will not be able to play for the Australian and New Zealand fans, who have been so supportive and loyal." Read more here.

Thursday and No Devotion frontman Geoff Rickly revealed on Sunday that he was hospitalized in Hamburg, German this weekend after he was allegedly robbed and poisoned.
Rickly told fans via social media posts that he was robbed and poisoned outside Rock Cafe St. Pauli, the venue hosting the Reeperbahn Festival that his supergroup No Devotion were set to perform at, but were forced to cancel.
He posted the following on Sunday, "Just a little note to say that I was poisoned and robbed (outside our Reeperbahn Festival venue on Friday) and spent the night in the hospital in Hamburg. I'm recovering and will be in Paris tonight."
He also posted on his Twitter account, "Sorry to anyone that was at our show for the cancellation. The outpouring of love and support for Collect Records, No Devotion, Norman Brannon, Shaun Durkan is nothing short of remarkable."
Former Megadeth Stars Poland, Menza and Lomenzo Form New Band(Classic Rock)
Former Megadeth members Chris Poland, Nick Menza and James Lomenzo have reunited to launch a fresh project. The unnamed band have been in the studio this year working on material for their debut release, with a sonic direction that has been described by some as "Led Zeppelin meets Metallica."
Menza says: "It's got some elements of that, but I'd say we're just so far beyond everything that's been heard already. It's gonna be a conglomerate of styles. It's gonna be what we like to do best - have fun, play. Our material is gonna be really out there. It's gonna be different. It's gonna be heavy, but it's gonna be us."
Guitarist Poland was a member of Megadeth from 1984 to 1987 and appeared on the group's first two albums, 1985's Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good and 1986's Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?
Drummer Menza was on board for four albums between 1989 and 1998, while bassist LoMenzo stepped in from 2006 to 2010 before founding member David Ellefson returned to the fold. Read more here.
Slipknot's Corey Taylor In Upcoming Doctor Who Episode?
Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has reportedly lent his signature voice to a character in an upcoming episode of the hit UK series Doctor Who, according to the Mirror.
The UK tabloid cites an unnamed "insider" as the source of the news which reports that Taylor provided a "deafening roar to alien warlord the Fisher King as he battles Time Lord Peter Capaldi" in an upcoming episode.
Producers of the show reportedly reached out to Taylor when Slipknot played in Cardiff in January. Taylor, who is said to be a big fan of the show, was given a VIP tour by producers and asked to record his signature scream for the show.
"He agreed instantly and was made up about it," the alleged "insider" told the outlet. Read more here.
Chickenfoot Working On New Album Says Sammy Hagar
Sammy Hagar reveals in a new interview that Chickenfoot, (his band with Joe Satriani, Red Hot Chili Pepper's Chad Smith, and his former Van Halen bandmate Michael Anthony), are working on a new album.
He tells Ultimate Classic Rock, "What we decided to do with Chickenfoot is casually write a record the way we're doing now. Like, Joe (Satriani) and I get together and get the song and then Chad (Smith) put drums on one song already and Mikey (Anthony) put bass on it and we did the vocals.
"We've got one f***ing finished song ('Before I Die') that to me, is the coolest song that we've maybe ever had. It's really bluesy and edgy and modern and it's f***ing cool."
He also explained the differences he sees between Chickenfoot and his other current project the Circle and why he thinks that Chickenfoot will continue, despite speculation that it was over. "I love Chickenfoot. It's just that for me, being able to play my whole career with the Circle is so important to me. I've gotta tell ya, the chemistry in the Circle is right up there with the chemistry in Chickenfoot, when Chad's in the band, Chad, Mike and I. It's the same kind of thing - it's just a little bit different.
"Chickenfoot, I think may be the most creative band I've ever been in. I think it's even more creative than Van Halen was in a sense. Joe is so prolific that Joe can write 20 pieces of music, beginning to end, bridge, chorus, solo section, intro, outro and just bring it and say, 'How do you like this?' And we go, 'Wow, that's great,' or 'Eh, it don't feel right to us - it sounds like Joe solo.' You know, whatever!
"Having a guy like that in the band that is so freakin' prolific - I've never seen a musician in my life like that - because he reads and he writes and he studies…he's a professor, so he's theorizing with music.
"I say, how about some mid-tempo thing like 'Every Breath You Take' by the Police. Joe walks in the next day and he's got it. How about something like 'Black Dog,' which was 'Soap On A Rope,' with the breaks where the vocal is and the next day Joe walks in with that. I mean, not just an idea….that whole f-in' piece and all I had to do is write lyrics and come up with a melody and that f-in' song was done. That's the way Joe is. Being in a band with that kind of creativity and the engine of Chad and Mike on the rhythm section is second to nothing.
"You know, Mike and Jason (Bonham) are bad-ass too, don't get me wrong, but I have to do another record with that band, because it's so creative." Check out the full interview here.
Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell Expects Lifelong Cancer Fight(Classic Rock)
Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has accepted that he'll probably have to deal with cancer for the rest of his life. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2013 then announced last year that he was in remission - before revealing in June that it had returned. Treatment continues as Def Lep work through a North American tour.
Campbell tells the Salt Lake Tribune: "It's going very, very well, thank you. The bad news is this cancer keeps coming back. The good news is the treatment I'm doing largely continues to work, which is a big, big part of the recovery for me, to be able to continue to do what it is that defines who I am.
"I've had a couple rounds of chemo - actually, three rounds of chemo. And last October I did a stem cell transplant. I kind of naively thought that would be it, and I was done with it. I guess, given the benefit now of my experiences with this, I kinda realize that I'll probably be dealing with it for the rest of my life."
But his medical team continues to approach the issue from every possible angle. "I'm trying a process called immunotherapy, which is the latest and greatest thinking in how to treat cancer," says Campbell. Read more here.

The Loud Park appearance will kick off a busy fall touring schedule for the band which includes two shows in Greece before the launch of the Endless Forms Most Beautiful Tour of Europe that will also include Nightwish and Amorphis and will begin on November 16th in Copenhagen. Iron Maiden Frontman Impressed By Lady Gaga(Classic Rock)
Lady Gaga's metal credentials have been given perhaps their biggest endorsement yet - with Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson describing her as "great" and way better than Madonna.
The pop star has won the approval of Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian and Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford in the past, and she recently revealed how she woke up at 5am to buy Maiden's new album The Book Of Souls.
And in an earlier interview, Gaga said she doesn't want to be the next Madonna, as she'd rather be the next Iron Maiden. Now the Maiden vocalist has returned the compliment. He tells Corus Radio: "I think she's great, and I agree with her - she's not the next Madonna. She's way better than that.
"Because, first of all, she can sing - she's got a belter of a voice - and she's a really good instrumentalist. She's got a great sense of drama. And anybody that could turn up to an awards ceremony dressed as a bacon sandwich gets my vote. I mean, she's great." Watch the full interview here.

Act Of Defiance, featuring former Megadeth stars Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover, Shadows Fall's Matt Bachand and former Scar The Martyr vocalist Henry Derek, will be launching a North American tour next month.
The recently formed group will be coheadlining the trek with Allegaeon and marks the band's very first national tour, which they are launching in support of their debut album "Birth and The Burial."
The tour is scheduled to get underway on October 22nd in Las Vegas at Count's Vamp'd and will be wrapping up on November 15th with an appearance at the Providence Metal Fest in Providence, RI. See the dates here.
Sevendust Streaming Their Entire New Album 'Kill The Flaw'(TeamRock Radio)
Sevendust have made their 11th album entitled Kill The Flaw available to stream in full ahead of its October 2 launch. The follow-up to 2014's acoustic Time Travelers & Bonfires was self-produced by the band and recorded at Architekt Music in Butler, New Jersey with engineer/mixer Mike Ferretti.
The Atlanta outfit returned to their roots by building songs for the album from extended jam sessions. Vocalist Lajon Witherspoon tells The Aquarian Weekly: "We went in with this live effect. There wasn't anything really written for this album, so we set up on the live stage and everything was mic'd, from guitars to drums, so we were able to record while we were rehearsing pieces of songs.
"Then we would go in from 12 noon until 12 midnight and during the day, we would just get up there as the band Sevendust like when we started, which we loved to do, and just jam."
He continues: "Things came out and that's the way this album came together. It was just like the beginning of our career when we sat down and jammed together like a band and it's what I think made this album flow so easily and come out with so many cool songs." Stream the album here.
Asking Alexandria Streaming New Song 'Undivided'(TeamRock Radio)
Asking Alexandria are streaming their latest track, Undivided, ahead of next month's headlining UK tour. It comes on the heels of a video for their single I Won't Give In.
The new track comes as the band prepare to launch their first European tour with new frontman Denis Stoff. He replaced Danny Worsnop, who departed in January, and is on board as the band work on the follow-up to 2013's From Death To Destiny.
Asking Alexandria will co-headline the UK Vans Warped Tour show at London's Alexandria Palace on October 18, with Black Veil Brides sharing top spot. The group will then headline a series of UK gigs alongside Memphis May Fire, August Burns Red and In Hearts Wake.
Guitarist Ben Bruce says: "It's an incredible package. We are back and we truly are better than ever - this tour is going to be absolutely insane." Stream the new song here.
David Gilmour Tops The UK Chart With 'Rattle That Lock'
David Gilmour had an impressive first week in the UK for his new solo album, "Rattle That Lock," which gave the Pink Floyd legend his second No. 1 album debut on the chart.
Gilmour had previously topped the chart in 2006 with his album "On An Island" and The Official Charts Company, which keeps the music charts in the UK, says that he once again came out on top, handily beating Lana Del Rey's "Honeymoon," which landed as this week's No. 2.
Gilmour had the following to say about topping the chart, "It's thrilling to get a Number 1 album, we all want to hit the top spot, however long we've been at it, I'm delighted.
"I owe a debt of thanks to Polly Samson, for writing lyrics on four Number 1 albums, The Division Bell, On An Island, The Endless River, and now Rattle That Lock, and also to Phil Manzanera, my co-producer on the last three albums" Read the report here.
Rammstein Release 'Engel' Video From In Amerika DVD(Classic Rock)
Rammstein have released a performance clip of "Engel" from their live DVD In Amerika. The package presents a 2010 concert at New York's Madison Square Garden that marked the German outfit's first US show in a decade.
The band say: "The venue's more than 18,000 seats were snatched up for the special appearance within less than 30 minutes of going on sale, heralding Rammstein's return with a frenzied fanfare on par with the German band's elaborate stage presentation."
The show is accompanied by a feature-length documentary and a 20-minute film on the making of the 2009 album Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da. The newly-released set was previewed with an official trailer and performance clips of "Rammlied" and "Ich Tu Dir Weh". Watch the video here.

The Temperance Movement Lose Founding Member(Classic Rock)
The Temperance Movement have announced the departure of guitarist and founding member Luke Potashnick. The announcement was made on the band's Facebook page.
"Quitting the road after years of touring is not an easy decision to make," say the band. "Luke has being playing and touring internationally for many years, but he has always preferred the studio to the stage.
"As long as TTM have been together, Luke has quietly enjoyed a writer/producer career of his own which he now wishes to fully dedicate himself to.
"We support his decision with love and gratitude for the great times we've shared in The Temperance Movement." Read more here.
Joel Hoekstra's 13 Streaming New Song 'Long For The Days'
Joel Hoekstra of Whitesnake, Night Ranger, Trans Siberian Orchestra fame, has premiered the latest single from the forthcoming Joel Hoekstra's 13's studio album "Dying To Live".
The new album is set to be released on October 16th by Frontiers Music SRL and the label has premiered the latest single "Long For The Days" on their Facebook page.
The new album was recorded by Hoekstra and all-star lineup of musicians including Jeff Scott Soto (vocals), Russell Allen (vocals), Tony Franklin (bass), Vinny Appice (drums), and Derek Sherinian (keyboards).
Hoekstra had the following to say about the track, "Long For The Days is a song about reflection and regret over a relationship gone badly. It's a good old-fashioned, classic-rock style track that captures elements of some of my favorite bands (I'll let you figure them out!).
"Vinny Appice (drums) and Tony Franklin (bass) lay it down while Derek Sherinian (keys) provides the right sounds and parts with tasteful perfection. Russell Allen delivers one of my favorite vocal performances EVER and Jeff Scott Soto sings some amazing backgrounds to support them. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing/recording it!" Slayer's Kerry Kings Finds Today's Bands Uninspiring(Classic Rock)
Slayer guitarist Kerry King says some successful young bands are missing the opportunity to inspire future musicians the way he was first moved by the giants of metal back in the day.
Growing up on a steady diet of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, among others, helped motivate King to form Slayer with Jeff Hanneman as a teenager.
Now, King reveals he's having trouble seeing the next generation develop into hard rock and metal role models of their own. King tells Metal XS: "We were at a festival in South America somewhere, and they feed you a live feed of the stage, so you can watch it like you're out front. And I was watching a band, and I went over to Gary Holt and I said,' Gary, if I was a kid and these were my heroes, I would never pick up an instrument.'
"They didn't compel me to wanna be them, and I think that's what's missing in younger music… There's not a vibe. You look at some bands these days, and I've got nothing against roadies, 'cause I love my crew, but these bands look like roadies. It looks like they're just up there rehearsing, and that doesn't inspire me to wanna play guitar and be just like 'em." Read more here.
Von Hertzen Brothers Release 'Sunday Child' Video(Classic Rock)
Von Hertzen Brothers have released a video for Sunday Child, taken from their New Day Rising album, the follow-up to 2013's Nine Lives. The video was filmed at Söderskär Lighthouse, 30km east of the Finnish capital.
"At the end of summer, we performed an exclusive show on a tiny island outside Helsinki," says drummer Mikko Kaakkuriniemi. "This remote, rugged and expansive location, with its 150 year old lighthouse, was a perfect match for the atmosphere and story of our new single, Sunday Child. With this in mind, the goal was to capture this magical late August day from beginning to end. The music video that followed is like a diary or a photo album of this special event and our gig right by the open sea."
Von Hertzen Brothers recently played at the Prog Awards in London, and are currently on tour. The band's New Day Rising is nominated for the Best Album award at this year's Classic Rock Roll Of Honour. Watch the video here.
Flying Colors Release Live 'Mask Machine' Video(Classic Rock)

"It was especially exciting because we had just performed many of these songs for the first time, days before," says Flying Colors guitarist Steve Morse.
"We had a blast playing these tunes and can't wait for you to hear them... you can feel the excitement!," adds singer Casey McPherson. "I'm still trying to learn Steve's guitar parts, though."
Second Flight: Live At The Z7 is released on November 13 on multiple formats, including 4K UltraHD, Blu-ray, DVD, LP + MP3, CD, iTunes, Headphone Surround, iTunes and Pono. Read more and watch the video here.
Motorhead Already Planning Next Album Says Lemmy(Classic Rock)
Motorhead mainman Lemmy says the band will record and release their next album within two years. The band issued latest effort Bad Magic last month and the singer/bassist has been struggling with poor health in recent months, leading to their touring schedule being disrupted. But he shows no sign of letting up as he looks forward to album no.23.
As the veteran band prepare to launch their second annual Motorboat cruise this week, Lemmy spoke to Rock Overdose about their plans moving forward. Lemmy says: "Touring! We are booked until March and then into the festival season - and in two years there will be another record."
The bassist also addressed the glut of music in today's marketplace. He adds: "In my view, there are more people recording more songs than any other time in history. It is their own responsibility whether to survive if they manage to keep the spirit of rock'n'roll alive." Read more here.

Saxon Tried To Avoid Remaking 'Wheels Of Steel' On New Album(Classic Rock)
Saxon frontman Biff Byford says the band avoided trying to recreate their Wheels Of Steel sound on their upcoming new album. The British metal heroes release Battering Ram October 16 and Byford previously said the album harks back to their 80s sound. But he insists they didn't set out to lean too heavily on their 1980 hit Wheels Of Steel when they recorded the latest work with producer Andy Sneap.
Byford tells Metal Rules (via Blabbermouth): "We love the album. It's a clash between the retro Saxon and the modern Saxon. It's a massive sound. Andy Sneap's done a great job for us. Andy loves the 80s bands as well, so he's a great producer to get the best of both things going.
"We're not trying to recreate the Wheels Of Steel album. We're trying to move on a bit, but still have the essence of Saxon there. He engineered Sacrifice and mixed it. And I wanted to spend a bit more time on my vocals other than producing, so I knew everything would be safe with Andy." Watch the full interview here.

Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit Declared Most Iconic Song Ever(Classic Rock)
Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit has been declared the most iconic song ever written in research commissioned by Fiat. The car manufacturers were trying to work out which song to use in promotional material for the Fiat 500 and asked boffins at the University of London to help.
Dr Mick Grierson's team analyzed the tracks most often singled out by critics, with the Nirvana smash hit coming out on top ahead of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Guns N' Roses classic Sweet Child O' Mine and God Save The Queen by the Sex Pistols.
Dr Grierson tells the Daily Mail: "We looked at a range of measures for each song and compared them to see if there were similarities in these recordings which occur less in other songs.
"We found the most significant thing these songs have in common is that most of them use sound in a very varied, dynamic way when compared to other records.
"This makes the sound of the record exciting, holding the listeners' attention. By the same token, the sounds these songs use and the way they are combined is highly unique in each case." See the top 10 list here.
Big Big Train Release Live 'Victorian Brickwork' Video(Prog)
Big Big Train have released a video of them performing Victorian Brickwork live in London. The performance was captured during the band's show at King's Place last month, one of three shows at the venue - the band's first gigs in 17 years.
Keyboard player Danny Manners says: "We were overwhelmed with the audience response to what were the band's first gigs in 17 years, and how far some of them were willing to travel from all over the world. We hope the video will give the wider public a taste of what Big Big Train is like live."
BBT will release a live-in-the-studio DVD, Stone And Steel, in the coming weeks and are currently working on a new album called Folklore, set for release next year. Watch the video here.
Singled Out: Stroamata's SocialBrooklyn alt-rock band Stroamata recently released their latest single "Social" and we asked the band's Rob Morrison and Alex Markowitz to tell us the story behind the track. Here is the story:
Rob Morrison (main songwriter on Social): As people become more easily connected, they are simultaneously ostracizing themselves by seeing fewer friends in person and taking more photos of themselves than ever before. "Social" lyrically tries to depict this dichotomy of concurrent self-obsession and self-imposed isolation. Musically, the different instruments meld together but also show-off, themselves wanting to be appreciated on their own, separately rather than as a piece of a whole. That aside, it's a rocker of a tune and grooves hard. Makes the head bob almost to headbanging levels.
Alex Markowitz: Some songs just come together in a few minutes. I know everyone has read an interview or a blog where a musician goes on about how long writing a song takes, saying sometimes it's years before a song comes together. I also know we have heard stories where bands have come up with "mega-hit" songs just by screwing around in the studio. Social just came together in a matter of minutes. Rob came in with the song, and within a few minutes the basic form, beat and feel of the song just erupted from the band. I wish I could describe the pride I feel for my band members, and the years of work we have put into making music when a song just appears from the ether, but I cannot find the words. Songs like this are the reward for our dedication to each other and our music! Of course... we hope other people enjoy it too!
