Nine Inch Nails Streaming New Album and Plan Release Show
Nine Inch Nails fans will not have to wait until the band's new album, "Hesitation Marks," is released next week to hear the effort as a full album stream has been launched online and the band has announced a special album release show.
The band teamed up with the iTunes Store in the U.S. to provide fans with an advance stream of "Hesitation Marks," ahead of its official release next Tuesday, September 3rd. You can listen to it here.

The online music retailer is also taking preorders for the album and they will be offering a deluxe edition that will feature the three bonus tracks: "Find My Way (Oneohtrix Point Never Remix)," "All Time Low (Todd Rundgren remix)" and "While I'm Still Here (Breyer P-Orridge 'Howler' Remix)".

The album features guest appearances from Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac, Adrian Belew of King Crimson, Eugene Goreshter of Autolux, bass legend Pino Palladino, and NIN regulars Alessandro Cortini, Ilan Rubin and Joshua Eustis.

Next Tuesday, Nine Inch Nails will be celebrating the album's release with a special intimate show at the famed Troubadour club in Los Angeles. The group will kick off their North American tour on September 28th. more on this story

Chickenfoot Committed To Making New Album
(Classic Rock) Chickenfoot guitarist Joe Satriani admits the supergroup just can't find time in their schedules to record their next album but he vows they'll manage it eventually. He believes there are at least two more records to follow their 2009 self-titled debut and 2011 follow-up Chickenfoot III.

They toured that album with drummer Kenny Aronoff in place of Chad Smith, who was tied up with his Red Hot Chili Peppers duties. But the four-piece, which also includes former Van Halen men Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, intend to stick to the original lineup when it comes to studio work.

"We had a pretty tasty dinner the other night, Chad, Sammy and myself," Satriani tells Guitar World. "We came to the realisation that it would be really hard to find some time in the next nine months to do a record. But we're committed to figuring it out." more on this story

Avenged Sevenfold Defend The Direction of New Album
(TeamRock Radio) Avenged Sevenfold defend the direction of their latest album "Hail To The King" in the fourth exclusive video in their interview series with TeamRock.

In this latest video the band go on to explain exactly who they consider to be sell-outs and why they went in the direction they did for their latest album.

You can also watch parts one to three of the series where the band talk about creating the album, what the writing process was like without The Rev and how Hail to the King stacks up against their previous albums (in their opinion). Check out the interviews here.

Kings Of Leon Never Gave Up
(Classic Rock) Kings Of Leon never doubted for a moment they'd return from their year of hell in 2011. The band faced serious personal issues, with brothers Caleb and Nathan Followill coming to blows, frontman Caleb walking off stage after an incomprehensible rant, and bassist Jared Followill's admission they were suffering from "internal sickness."

Two years later KOL return with sixth album Mechanical Bull, due out next month. And drummer Nathan insists a permanent split was never on the cards.

He tells Rolling Stone: "People ask us that, and if you ask any of us we'd say, 'No way.' Being a family band, we were bound to have that awkward first-time hangout at a show, or at Christmas or Thanksgiving. There's no avoiding it.

"If the band stopped, we're still a family and we'd see each other. So that wasn't a thought on our minds – we all knew we needed a break, but we knew it wasn't over." more on this story

Bob Seger Joins Kid Rock for Record Performance
(Gibson) In 1977 Bob Seger and his Silver Bullet Band sold out the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Detroit for 8 consecutive nights. It would take 36 years for an artist to match that, when Motor City native Kid Rock managed the same feet earlier this month.

As a surprise to his fans, Rock brought up Seger as a special guest for the encore. Rock and Seeger did "Old Time Rock And Roll," and "All Summer Long" to the cheers of an ecstatic crowd.

Rock and Seger have shared the stage on a couple of occasions earlier in the year, and they've made guest appearances on each other's albums. Speaking to Classic Rock after the show Kid Rock said he's open to future collaborations with Seger: "I'm sure there's more for us to do. Those shows went so great. It was beyond mind-blowing. There's definitely something there."

Bob Seger is getting ready to head back in the studio to work on a follow-up to 2006's Face The Promise. Although no release date has been set, Seger has been playing the song "All of the Roads" during his latest tour, which is supposed to be included on the new album. more on this story

Alice Cooper Answers His Critics
(TeamRock Radio) Alice Cooper says that anyone who thinks he's past his prime should catch one of his shows – because they won't see a higher-energy performance all year.

The veteran shock-rocker may be 65, but he insists his onstage character is more evil than ever, and fans of all ages will get what they want. Cooper says: "I think people come in with the pre-thinking of, 'He must be 65, so this must be Alice walking through this and kinda doing his hits and talking to us.' They get just the opposite.

"It's the highest-energy show they're gonna see all year. Alice is more of a villain now than he's ever been. He's more pronounced than he's ever been.

"Then they're wondering, 'How did I get confetti in my hair? Why do I have stage blood on me? Look – I caught a necklace, a cane, a riding crop.' Everyone goes home with souvenirs that get thrown from the stage to the audience." more on this story

Why Black Sabbath Rejected Ginger Baker Idea
(Classic Rock) Tony Iommi has offered a little more insight into how Black Sabbath went about replacing Bill Ward for the making of 13 – their first album with Ozzy Osbourne since 1978.

They chose Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk to take the stool for recording sessions after Iommi's concerns over time, dictated by his cancer treatment, prevented him from continuing talks with Ward over his contract.

Before Wilk was chosen, producer Rick Rubin put Cream icon Ginger Baker forward for the role. But Iommi tells WWeek.com: "We put a stop on. We didn't think Ginger would have been… we didn't want to go into the studio and have, um, problems.

"We did try some big name drummers – some very big name drummers. They were great, but Rick particularly suggested Brad. He did work hard; he was thrown into the deep end and he was very nervous. He got used to us, our jokes, the way we prank around." more on this story

Scorpions Crazy World Deluxe Reissue Delayed
(hennemusic) The release of deluxe reissue of The Scorpions 1990 album, "Crazy World", has been delayed to October 7. The band's 11th studio album, "Crazy World" featured the international hit, "Wind Of Change."

The two-disc set will feature the original album plus a disc of 12 live tracks from their Live Crazy world tour, along with the album's four promotional videos.

On January 24, 2010, after 45 years of performing, The Scorpions announced that they would be retiring after touring in support of their new album at the time, "Sting In The Tail", although this decision was eventually retracted and the band will continue. more on this story

His first record in five years will be available only via his website, and the deluxe edition comes with a bonus DVD, hardback book and download token. Pre-orders placed before August 31 will come with a limited-edition print signed by Fish and artist Mark Wilkinson.

"They haven't complained once – apart from asking for biscuits and I have been entertained by their jukebox selection, which has taken in early Genesis, Springsteen, Yes, Floyd, Billy Joel, the Beatles, Jethro Tull, Tenacious D and the Police, to name a few. Check out the tease here.

Chi Cheng Will Always Be A Part of the Deftones
(TeamRock Radio) Deftones keyboardist and DJ Frank Delgano believes late bassist Chi Cheng will always be a part of the band, because of their approach to songwriting.

Cheng died in April after having been in a coma since a car crash in 2008. And he's very much in the band's thoughts as they continue touring 2012's Koi No Yokan and consider a follow-up album.

Delgano says: "We all know Chi would have wanted us to keep on going. We all overtly feel he's part of everything we do anyway – his legacy lives on. For us, the creative process and our music are organic. When we get into the studio we do what we do best." more on this story

Biffy Clyro Blow Up Big At Reading Festival
(Gibson) Scottish trio Biffy Clyro had the honor of headlining the last night of this year's Reading Festival on August 25. It was the first time the band appeared at the festival as headliners on the Main Stage, and they seemed very excited by the honor, thanking the crowd throughout the set.

The band certainly didn't spare any expenses, putting on a show that was full of pyrotechnics from start to finish. The 21 song set, which is a lot for a festival gig, contained songs from all of the band's 6 albums, starting with "Different People" from this year's Opposites album, and wrapping up with the song "Mountains" from 2009's Only Revolutions.

The set slowed down for a bit with Clyro singer Simon Neil playing "Machines" with just an acoustic guitar. The main set ended in true Jimi Hendrix fashion, with Neil setting fire to his guitar at the end of the song using a flare. more on this story

Magenta, Touchstone and The Reasoning Team Up For Tour

Each band will deliver an entire album from their back catalogues. Magenta are to perform Seven, Touchstone will play Discordant Dreams and The Reasoning revive Awakening. But that's just the start.

The bands explain: "The initial shows will take place in London and the Midlands. For an affordable price of just £20, these fantastic larger-scale venues will enable each band to perform more spectacular shows.

"The festival is part of a long-term project that's intended to develop in subsequent months, including different artists but always based on the three-bands-three-albums model." Check out the dates and ticket info.

Thirty Seconds To Mars Release 'City Of Angels' Lyric Video
(TeamRock Radio) Thirty Seconds To Mars have released a new lyric video for their track "City Of Angels" and the group's frontman Jared Leto admits they only just made it in time.

The clip shows Leto himself, in silhouette for most of the track, in the Hollywood Hills near his native Los Angeles. He explains: "So there we were: deadline city once again. A lyric video was needed, without any real options in sight. We were getting desperate.

"So I said, 'F**k it,' grabbed my camera, went up to the hills and shot. We came back with this. Very simple, and sometimes that's for the best." Leto adds he was accompanied by an owl for most of the shooting session, and he left it in one scene. Check it out here.

Singer Chris Barron says: "Every note feels dangerous. It's like this ramshackle, broken carried running down a cobblestone hill with pots and pans – and a screaming baby…"

The Spin Doctors return to the UK for a show in London's Garage on Wednesday, September 25, with special guests Dodgy. Until then, check out the new video here.

How Nightwish and Revamp's Floor Jansen Discovered Metal
(TeamRock Radio) Revamp's Floor Jansen, who's currently singing for Nightwish, reveals how she discovered female-fronted metal in the exclusive video with TeamRock Radio.

The former After Forever vocalist explains it's down to Dutch band The Gathering and their 1995 album Mandylion, their first to feature then-singer Anneke Van Giersbergen.

Jansen says: "Her crystal-clear voice, her power, combined with those heavy guitars made me want to do that as well." Check out the interview video with Floor here.

Don Broco Release 'You Wanna Know' Video

Frontman Rob Damiani says: "It's the first music we've written since finishing off our debut album almost two years ago now, so we're very excited about getting it out and playing it at our shows.

"It's about telling someone something they don't want to hear. They think they might want to know – but it turns out they don't.

"It's something that happened to me. I thought I was being a great guy by being honest and everything, but it didn't work out too well!" Check out the video here.

Omb Release New Song These Walls
(Prog) Prog Magazine is proud to premiere "These Walls" by Israeli prog metal outfit Omb. It's taken from their debut album SwineSong, due out on September 1 on their own label Word7 via Prog Sphere Promotions.

Omb was formed by members of Amaseffer, Reign Of The Architect and Dark Serpent: drummer Yuval Tamir, vocalist Davidavi Dolev, bassist Or Rozenfeld and guitarist Yuval Kramer. The album was recorded with assistance from 10 other musicians.

They say: "Long gone promises, frustration, sex, ADHD and personality disorders, low self-esteem versus delusions of grandeur, love, failures, and the constant need for self-expression – these are the things dreams are really made of." Check out the song here.

A Look at Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon 40 Years Later
(Gibson) Yes, the album does synch astonishingly well with The Wizard of Oz, but that's just one of the remarkable things about Pink Floyd's historic Dark Side of the Moon, which was released 40 years ago. The disc also pushed the envelope on multi-tracking and tape looping, as well as mixing, making Dark Side as much an accomplishment of engineering as musicianship and ushering in the era of the studio engineer as star.

In the case of Dark Side engineer Alan Parsons — who was also responsible for inviting powerhouse singer Clare Torry to wail on the LP's "The Great Gig In the Sky" — that was literal. He became a cult artist and then a hit-maker with the studio group he led between 1975 and 1990 under the name the Alan Parsons Project.

But in the long run what's even more remarkable than the sonic beauty and innovation of Dark Side of the Moon is that it froze one of the greatest rock bands at their creative peak in a confluence of imagination, virtuosity and poetic lyricism that is now forever trapped in amber — becoming a permanent benchmark of excellence and humanity for future generations of listeners and musicians.

Of course, the concept album was well-established by the time Dark Side of the Moon reached record shops, but the recording's perfect weave of storytelling and sound still make it a truly exceptional member of that camp. Bassist-singer Roger Waters' lyrics achieved a poetic high in experimental rock, comparable to Dylan and to Hendrix's most emotionally rich lyrics, like "Drifting" and "Castles Made of Sand." Also contributing to the disc's humanity is a variety of voices — recordings of the band's road crew, the studio doorman and even Wings' guitarist Henry McCullough ("I don't know. I was really drunk at the time.") — responding to questions Waters had written on flash cards. The cards were lost partway in the recording process, leading to interesting ad libs like "When was the last time you were violent?"

Ultimately, the disc's sides tell an open-ended story about the trials and joys experienced over the arc of a lifetime, with the surging tides of the music sustaining the tales of yearning, fear, satisfaction, doubt, vision and transcendence.

Dark Side of the Moon was embraced by both listeners and the music industry upon its release, climbing quickly to number one. The album continues to sell thousands of copies a week and has reached a total of more than 34-million sold around the world. Staring with its March 1973 release, Dark Side spent more than 11 consecutive years on the Billboard album charts. more on this story

Perry Farrell Looks Back at Jane's Addiction's 'Nothing's Shocking'
(Radio.com) Radio.com and Perry Farrell look back at the Jane's Addiction album that introduced them to radio and MTV, and tore down the walls between what was then called "alternative" music and heavy metal. The record turned 25 this past week.

Decades after its release, it routinely pops up on "Best Albums Of All Time" charts. But if anyone ever puts together a "Most Deceptively Titled Albums Of All Time," Nothing's Shocking may top that one.

First off, there's the obvious: that album cover. We can't show it here, but you know it: the black and white sculpture of two nude women conjoined at the shoulder and hips sitting on a chair with their hair on fire.

And speaking of sex and violence, there was the song whose lyrics gave the album its name, "Ted, Just Admit It," which featured a sample of an interview clip with murderer Ted Bundy. The lyrics "Showed me everybody naked and disfigured/ Nothing's shocking/ Now sister's not a virgin anymore/ er sex is violent…" led to a chanting of "Sex! Is! Violent!" Yes, Jane's was a quintessentially L.A. band, but this wasn't what Sunset Strippers Mötley Crüe, Ratt and Poison were singing about.

And the frontman, Perry Farrell: a white, dreadlocked banshee who didn't sing, at least in the conventional sense. He was like Jim Morrison, David Bowie, David Johansen, Iggy Pop and Michael Stipe rolled into one wild-eyed, bursting-with-energy, surfer-dude. He was a hippie, he was a punk, he was a shaman and he was a huckster.

Also shocking: no one seemed to be able to put a label on the band in an era where most bands were fairly easy to categorize. They had the power of Led Zeppelin, but Farrell hardly resembled Robert Plant. Everyone he wrote about seemed like a real person darker side of L.A, not some cloudy, Tolkien fantasy. Similarly, Navarro's playing was dynamic like Jimmy Page's, but unlike many other L.A. players, he didn't sound like Jimmy Page. While much of L.A. was aping Zeppelin's style, Jane's came off as more of the heir apparent to that band's throne by not cloning the original.

And like Zeppelin, they had great acoustic songs as well. Case in point: "Jane Says," which at first listen is a bit Zeppelin III, but Page/Plant never wrote lyrics that cut like these. Propelled by acoustic guitar and steel drums, it was a moving tribute to Farrell and Avery's one-time housemate Jane Bainter, who's "gonna kick tomorrow" when she "gets her money saved." She doesn't know what love is like "I only know they want me." There's no judging, just an observation of a tragic figure.

That song got played on "alternative rock" radio alongside the likes of Depeche Mode and the Cure, but Jane's pulled a metal audience, and appealed to punks as well. This was in the days before Farrell invented the Lollapalooza tour, and those clans didn't often meet at concerts, or really anywhere else.

The album changed a lot of things in the music business and could be pointed to as the record that led to alternative's rushing of the mainstream. But Perry Farrell told Radio.com how it changed his life.

"Prior to that, I was a kid in Los Angeles, I guess you could call me a street urchin, I was hanging out with a lot of other musicians in the city, it was a very different scene back then. It was built around music. Today, there's a lot of other things for young people to do. We didn't have computer games and social media."

Conversations with Farrell tend to be wide-ranging and protracted; the pithy soundbite answer is not for him. "When Nothing's Shocking came out, I became much more of a worldly human being. That took me a while, thirty years. Now, I am able to relate to the man standing next to me in the elevator. Back then, he might be scared of me. Today, he might find me to be a refreshing conversationalist. I was always a good person, but back then, I just didn't look like it. Now, after all this time, and having children and aging, but aging–like a wine would–I enjoy my life more than ever. I meet people who are tremendous and valuable, valuable to the world, they invite me to places. Back then, I was f***ed up, I don't think they were able to relate to me."

Today's Day in Rock News!

Nine Inch Nails Vs Biffy Clyro
(Classic Rock) Trent Reznor has claimed Nine Inch Nails' stage production at Reading over the weekend was ruined by Biffy Clyro and festival promoter Melvin Benn.
Notorious perfectionist Reznor fumed on Twitter ahead of his second-top-slot appearance: "Should be an unusual show tonight… the lying promoter and the band following us (whoever the f**k they are) f**ked us on our production."

But Benn denied the frontman's allegation, saying: "The truth is, there's no truth in the statement. The contract hasn't changed since they signed up to it."

Asked whether Reznor was, in fact, unhappy that Biffy Clyro were ahead of him on the bill, Benn replied: "I couldn't possibly comment." More details.

Motley Crue Not Retiring Because of Mick Mars' Health
(Classic Rock) Mick Mars has insisted his lifelong health battle has nothing to do with Motley Crue's upcoming retirement. The guitarist has spent years suffered from ankylosing spondylitis, a condition that causes joints in the spine to fuse together.

Last week singer Vince Neil said that was one of the reasons the band are planning to bow out after a farewell tour and a movie based on their celebrated book The Dirt. Neil reported: "Touring is tough on him."

But Mars tweets: "Any rumours regarding a farewell tour due to 'my poor health' are BS. I am doing fine. My AS has never kept me from touring and never will." more on this story

Nazareth Singer Collapses Again
(Classic Rock) Nazareth have been forced to cancel another run of shows after singer Dan McCafferty collapsed and required medical attention for the second time in a month after suffering a stroke, according to a promoter.

The veteran Scottish outfit – who postponed a number of UK shows at the beginning of the year after McCafferty contracted a virus – had to abandon a Canadian tour in July when he collapsed on stage.

On Saturday their set at the Summerdays festival in Switzerland was cut short, with witnesses saying the singer complained about shortness of breath. Newspaper reports said he was later taken to hospital.

As a result their planned headline slot at Vosterfeesten in Belgium on Sunday was cancelled, along with shows in Germany and Sweden. Vosterfeesten Promoter Xavier Weijtens said: "Dan McCafferty is located in Switzerland in hospital after he suffered a stroke. The second in a short time, so we fear it is end of the line." more on this story

Judas Priest Making Progress on 'Heavy' New Album
(hennemusic) Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford spoke with Billboard about the band's progress on the follow-up to 2008's "Nostradamus." He says the new album will be "hard" and "heavy".

"The writing process is complete," Halford tells Billboard. "Now it's the painstaking work of making sure that you get every single note, every single nuance of the vocal, every tiny aspect...right. We're still tracking (instruments). It's just a very laborious but enjoyable part of making the record."

Priest is producing the album itself at the moment, but Halford notes that "there's always a possibility somebody might come in to overview some of the things we're doing."

Halford describes the project's sound as "hard. It's heavy. It's something we think our Priest fans will be thrilled with." more.

New Beatles BBC Set Coming?
(Gibson) A request last year by the BBC for fans to bring them rare Beatles recordings appears to have paid off, with reports that Volume 2 of Live at the BBC will be released this October, 19 years since the first set hit the streets.

Beatle fan site Wog Blog says Universal Music has added Live At The BBC Vol. 2 to its release schedule for October 4. If true, the blog writes, it fits with plans for a book about the Beatles' BBC recordings to be released in October in the UK and November in North America.

"If Universal Music carries on the EMI tradition, the re-release and the new release will also be available on vinyl, and as digital downloads on iTunes," the blog speculates. "And with the new merchandising deal, presumably some related products will be made available via the Beatles Official Stores."

The BBC routinely recorded over the tapes of their performances, but many recordings survive thanks to fans taping them at home, or in the form of BBC transcription records which were sent to radio stations in other countries. more on this story

Dave Mustaine Already Plotting Next Megadeth Album
(hennemusic) While Megadeth have been touring behind their new album, "Super Collider", leader Dave Mustaine says he is already working on ideas for the band's next project.

"I have been studying a lot of world history and a lot of crazy science stuff for new lyrics," tweeted Mustaine on Monday. "This world is so fascinating!"

"Super Collider" debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 album chart in June with opening week sales of 29,000 copies. Megadeth just wrapped up a month on the road headlining their own Gigantour festival; in September, they'll play a series of US dates with Iron Maiden before teaming up with Black Sabbath for a tour of Latin America in October. more on this story

Runaways Lita Ford and Cherie Currie Reunite For New Song
(Classic Rock) Former Runaways Lita Ford and Cherie Currie have teamed up to record a Christmas track together. Ford had been talking up a Runaways reunion in the past months – but Joan Jett recently appeared to put the blocks on the idea, saying she couldn't think why they'd want to do it, adding: "the down side is bigger than the up side."

That hasn't stopped Ford and singer Currie laying down a track for release later this year. The guitarist tells PsychoBabbleTV.com: "My old drummer called me and says, 'Lita, let's record a Christmas song.' So I thought, 'What do you want to do – Jingle Bells?' He said, 'No, let's write something new.'

"I got out a pen and paper and I thought, 'Let's rock this Christmas down.' So we started writing a song called Let's Rock This Christmas Down." more on this story

Alice In Chains' Cantrell Talks Rock Hall Prospects
(Radio.com) 2015 will mark the 25th anniversary of Facelift as well as Alice In Chains' eligibility for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Cantrell attended this year's ceremony, performing with Heart, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam. Did it get him thinking about Alice as Hall Of Famers?

"We're not into this to win awards," said Cantrell, "and that's the attitude I went there with. And I have to say, in fairness, that my opinion was a bit changed by being a guest with Heart and seeing how much it meant for them. It was a cool show, it was with a lot of respect. I was kind of moved.

"The best part was [Rush guitarist] Alex Lifeson's speech, but I also liked what [drummer] Neil Peart said: 'For years, we've been saying that this isn't a big deal. Turns out: it's a pretty big deal!' It was cool to see him say that."

Cantrell hopes the band is inducted at some point, but notes that Pearl Jam and Nirvana will probably be the first from the '80s/'90s Seattle scene to be inducted.

He's glad to have come up during that particular era: "We were really lucky to be a part of, not just in our own town, great bands coming up. We're really proud to be one of those bands in that generation, there were so many of them." And it's fortunate for fans who came up during that era, and for those who were too young to experience it at the time, that many of those bands — including Alice In Chains — are still making records and playing those songs on the road. more on this story

"I was impressed by the creative energy in the room when you get three musicians from three different generations vibing together in the studio," Rifo said after working with McCartney and producer/bassist Youth on "Out of Sight."

(hennemusic) Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler spoke with the San Gabriel Valley Tribune about the band's current North American tour as well as the 3D maze "Black Sabbath: 13 3D" at Universal Studios Hollywood's premier Halloween Horror Nights event, which opens September 20.

"They showed us the images of the maze, the drawings and photographs of the masks and the thing that they're making for it and explained the whole structure of it," said Butler.

"It's a maze and each part of the maze is based on particular lyrics from the old songs, so it's really good, it's really interesting. Once it's built, we're going out to visit it and have a tour of it. It will probably frighten us all to death." more on this story

Phil Anselmo Reflects on Far Beyond Driven Ahead of Anniversary
(TeamRock Radio) Phil Anselmo has recalled how Far Beyond Driven became the heaviest album ever to reach number one in the US charts. The Pantera record's 20th anniversary occurs next year – and the former frontman confirms there are plans to celebrate the date.

"In the early days they were very guarded about what I said," Anselmo recalls. "Finally, by Vulgar Display Of Power, it was, 'Just let me handle the lyrics – you worry about you.'

"By Far Beyond Driver I was saying anything I f**king wanted to f**king sing about, man," he continues. "It's the heaviest record to come in at number one – yes, there's a goddamn re-release coming up and it's going to have live footage and specialties." More from Phil here.

Nine Inch Nails Rehearsal Recordings Leak
(Radio.com) Nine Inch Nails are currently touring the international festival circuit, but back in June, Trent Reznor and co. were in the midst of rehearsals for their first tour since 2009. Now fans can hear these practice sessions, thanks to a rather sneaky audio guy.

According to a post on Reddit yesterday (Aug. 25), "a guy…who said he was working with the NIN production team while they were rehearsing" was bragging that he had a two-hour recording of a full set from the studio, complete with Reznor giving notes during the songs. He later uploaded the audio online for fans to download.

The studio session, recorded in L.A., stays true to the setlist that fans have been seeing at NIN's recent festival stops, including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Japan's Fuji Rock Festival. The recording features new songs like "Copy Of A," "Came Back Haunted" and "Find My Way" from their upcoming album, Hesitation Marks, out Sept. 3. more on this story

Celebrating Rush's Alex Lifeson On His 60th Birthday
(Gibson) Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson turns 60 today August 27. A founding member of Rush, he's dazzled over numerous albums, adapted his guitar style, and has seen Rush go from one of the most "uncool" bands on the planet to… actually, quite a cool band really.

Rush do their own thing, whether you love them or hate them. What's never been in doubt is the trio's musicianship. Geddy Lee (bass/vocals) and Neil Peart (drums/lyrics) are regularly voted "best ever" rock players in their field, and understandably so.

But does Alex Lifeson get the props he deserves? Maybe not so much. So as it's his birthday, here's a salute to Alex Lifeson of Rush. Lifeson is one of rock's premier players who are instantly recognizable and unique.

His many fans even talk about "the Alex chord." It can vary depending on which fan you ask, but it's usually a moveable sus2 or sus4, often with open higher (B and E) strings. F#7sus4 is a favorite "Alex chord." It features a lot in "Hemispheres" and "Xanadu." Suspended powerchords also feature large in "Tom Sawyer." Lifeson's chords and his counterpoint to Geddy Lee's bass are key to Rush's sound.

Harmonics are also a Lifeson staple: listen to "Hemispheres" or the intro to "Red Barchetta" (which also features plenty of suspended chords)

This Week In Rock News!

Here are the top stories from this past week.

Singer Abducted and Beaten After Concert
(Banana 101.5) Recently reunited pop-rockers The Calling had a not-so-warm welcome back this weekend, as their singer Alex Band was abducted and beaten just hours after their performance at the Lapeer Days festival.

If you were anywhere near a radio at any point in 2001, you definitely heard The Calling's 'Wherever You Will Go,' as it was playing in super heavy rotation all across the country. It was #1 on the Adult Top 40 for 23 consecutive weeks and was even named "Song of the Decade" by Billboard Magazine. Apparently, not everyone feels as strongly about the tune… at least not in a positive way, that is. After their recent experience in the Lapeer, the band will likely amend the song's hook as follows:

According to a number of sources, The Calling's singer Alex Band was walking back to his hotel after a run up to a nearby convenience store when he was abducted, robbed and beaten by two men in a blue minivan. The alleged assault took place in Lapeer on West Street near S. Main Street between 3 and 4am.

After being found on some nearby railroad tracks, Band was taken to McLaren – Lapeer Region Emergency Center, where he was treated for his injuries and then released. You can hear the 911 call by his manager and read more - here.

Guns N' Roses Song Leaked?
(TeamRock Radio) A track believed to be a previously unheard song by Guns N' Roses appeared briefly online yesterday and was quickly removed. It was called Going Down and featured bassist Tommy Stinson on lead vocals, with Axl Rose supplying backing.

Stinson himself released a tweet admitting it was a real GnR work, but the message was deleted soon afterwards, along with the Soundcloud music stream and a YouTube version.

MetalSucks' Axl Rosenberg said he believed Going Down could be nine years old or more, as some of the guitar work sounded like that of Buckethead, who left the band in 2004. - more on this story

Scott Weiland Apologizes To Stone Temple Pilots Fans
(hennemusic) Scott Weiland issued an onstage apology to Stone Temple Pilots fans during his solo show at the Trocadero in Philadelphia this past Saturday night, and video of the event has surfaced.

Scott's speech began during a fan chat of "Fuck you, Chester", a reference to Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, who joined Stone Temple Pilots earlier this year amid lawsuits by both Weiland and his former band.

"It's just a big 'ol planet, a big 'ol universe and in a big circle, it all works out," began Weiland in Philadelphia. "Anyway… Actually, Chester has his own band that makes a lot of money. I'm not really quite sure why he joined a band who is actually nameless."

"The problem is I shouldn't have said anything at all," he continued, "and I apologize to those fans out there who are, feel like they're caught in the middle of it, cause I sure feel like I'm caught in the middle of it emotionally, and all I want to do is play music, man." - Check out the video here.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse Cancel American Dates Due To Injury
(hennemusic) Neil Young & Crazy Horse have cancelled their upcoming four-city North American tour due to an injury to guitarist Frank "Poncho" Sampedro's hand.

"[His] doctor has indicated that Sampedro's hand requires additional time to heal properly," according to a statement sent out by Warner Bros. Records on Monday.

The group said, "We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our fans or the festivals where we were scheduled to appear. As you must be, we too are disappointed at this unfortunate turn of events."

The band canceled the final seven dates of their summer European tour earlier this month due to the injury, which a source close to the Young camp recently told Rolling Stone is "a mild fracture." - However, they still have some dates coming up that have not been canceled.

Paul McCartney Wants to Play Final Concert At Candlestick Park
(Radio.com) In 1966, San Francisco's Candlestick Park hosted The Beatles' final show. Now Paul McCartney is offering to return the favor by headlining the stadium's final show before it gets knocked down in 2014.

The city's mayor Ed Lee told the San Francisco Chronicle that McCartney threw out the idea a half hour before taking the stage at this year's Outside Lands Festival. "And it was him who made the suggestion," Lee said. "Believe me, it wasn't something I, or anyone else, was expecting."

The two talked about Candlestick and how the city was collecting photos and videos to honor the Beatles' final concert. McCartney then compared the Candlestick tribute to what they did at Shea Stadium in New York, where the Beatles played two of their most famous show. McCartney played Shea Stadium just before it was demolished in 2009 and then, along with Billy Joel, helped christen Citi Field where the Mets now play.

According to Lee, McCartney then said, "Well, if you are going to tear down the stadium next year, we should think about us doing the last concert there." - more on this story

System Of A Down Will Make A New Album
(TeamRock Radio) System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan has assured fans there will be another album, but not just yet. Reports have been confused from within the band, with bassist Shavo Odadjuan having complained that frontman Serj Tankian was responsible for their lack of studio action, then apologising for his comments.

Last month Dolmayan told an audience in Los Angeles that the next time they were in town a new record would be on the shelves. But Tankian has emphasised that, while he's not against making another album, there's nothing in the pipeline yet.

Now Dolmayan says: "The next album is coming. It's coming at some point." Asked if they're already working on it, he says: "We're not – just in our heads." - more.

Journey Singer Nearly Collapsed In Terror Before Big Show
(Classic Rock) Arnel Pineda nearly collapsed in terror as he geared up to perform to 25 million people soon after being confirmed as Journey's frontman.

The previously-unknown vocalist was hired in 2006 after guitarist Neal Schon saw him covering Journey tracks in a YouTube video. But nothing could have prepared him for one of his first appearances with the band, in Vina del Mar, a sold-out show which was being televised live across South America.

Schon tells Rolling Stone: "We there him in the fire, no doubt about it. Two seconds before we go, Arnel is like: 'Can I go home? I don't want to go out.'

"It was fear and loathing to the max – but then he went out, and he went for it, and the audience went nuts."

Pineda recalls: "I was terrified to death. It took years, but I survived it." - more on this story

Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme Talks New Album Plans
(Radio.com) For a band as big and established as Queens of the Stone Age, 2013 has proved to be quite the comeback year for frontman Josh Homme and company, following a six-year dry spell.

After more than a decade recording for Interscope Records, the band made a change to stalwart indie label Matador. The move resulted in …Like Clockwork, which was not only the band's first release to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, but also Matador's first chart-topping full-length.

Radio.com sat down with Homme and guitarist Troy Van Leeuween earlier this year, when the pair discussed everything from working with the likes of Elton John and Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys on the new album to Homme dishing on a traffic accident in which an unnamed actress from TV's One Tree Hill nearly killed him.

With the band blazing around the world, performing at a slew of music festivals over the summer, we recently caught up with Homme as QOTSA embarked on their own headlining tour, something he admitted he was especially excited about. While Homme sounded tired speaking on the phone from a hotel room on the road, he assures us it's the "good kind of tired" that comes from preaching the rock and roll gospel night after night from the hallowed pulpit that is the stage.

Radio.com: You recently mentioned the idea of the new QOTSA album coming out sooner than later, and having it be more of an upbeat counterpart to …Like Clockwork. Is that something you've thought about more since then?

Homme: Those are all just wishes. In a way, I probably guaranteed that it will be anything except that. This is the problem of talking about something before you do it. You sort of jinx the living hell out of it. I know this: I wanna create more stuff. Maybe we should just say touring is a part of what we do, but we'll just slowly and continuously do it without stopping. We'll go slower and take longer breaks, and there will just be records over the top of that and we'll just keep going. Maybe it should just be this slow-moving tank that keeps on rolling.

Radio.com: It seems like you're changing up the setlist every night.

Homme: We always put in a different three or four songs, at the minimum, for every show. We have a new drummer [Jon Theodore], and we're actually learning our old stuff so we can change around the setlists drastically. We have a lot of people that will come to multiple shows, and even if it's only five people, they might want to see something else. Also for us, too, it keeps it fresh. I've seen a lot of bands, we've played festivals with them, and they play the same set every night, say the same things in between songs. That would be hard for me to do. Like last night we played in Edmonton, and the crowd was so good, you know? And I told them that, and I don't say that every night. It's not necessary to shine ass like that. But I want people to know that I mean it when I say it. I just do whatever it takes to make every show as original as possible. - more on this story

Savoy Brown's Kim Simmonds Guitar Plans Didn't Go As Planned
(The Blues) Savoy Brown frontman Kim Simmonds says he first picked up a guitar because he thought it would help him make friends, but it didn't work out like that at first.

The veteran guitarist, singer and composer is the only person to have featured in every lineup of the band, which has seen 59 members move through the ranks since 1965.

Simmons tells the Journal Standard: "I bought my first guitar when I was 13. I had no idea at the time that I was meant to be an artist of some sort.

"I remember taking the guitar to school and thinking that I could make some friends with it. I think that was the advert that led me to buy the guitar: 'Make friends at school!'

"What I didn't realise was that, for the next three years, I'd lock myself in my bedroom, teach myself by playing along with records – and make no friends whatsoever." - But it doesn't end there.

"I completely understand people who look at this whole thing, and it might look like a hobby, or it might look like a sort of vacation. It isn't that at all. Jane's Addiction Release Another Soulmate Lyric Video
(hennemusic) Jane's Addiction have released a lyric video for their new single, "Another Soulmate" which is a song that Perry Farrell says was inspired by true events.

"Jane's is kind of known for long songs," singer Perry Farrell told Rolling Stone recently. "Being this is a one-song single, I thought it'd be interesting to try and write a Beatles-esque short song that would be fast and furious and it would just be fun, dig it and move on, short attention span."

The new tune was inspired by true events. "Etty [Lau Farrell, Perry's wife] had a girlfriend and this girlfriend, as all people do, really wanted a mate, and I think she shortchanged herself an awful lot in life," Farrell explained.

"She's a good-looking woman, she had a career, but when it came to love and romance, she sold herself short all the time and she would reach out to guys that we would scratch our head like, 'What is she doing with this guy?' She said, 'I feel like he's my soul mate.' Any time she'd meet a guy she'd say, 'I feel like he's my soul mate.' So I wrote this song." - Check out the video here.

God Forbid Break Up
Members from the band God Forbid have posted online statements announcing that the group has broken up after their guitarist Doc Coyle posted a lengthy message to fans announcing his departure from the group.

Coyle broke the news to fans on Friday (see his full statement below) and a short time later both frontman Byron Davis and drummer Corey Pierce posted their own messages.

Davis told fans, "It's Friday and my boy is home doing well and yes it's true, GF is down. We are a family for the most part some moveon while others keep it real like before the band began.

"I should feel sad but I dont right now because a new chapter has begun. I'll be seeing you all around somewhere. Believe that. Uncle Corey J needs some drums I have a guitar too for him. Blabbering."

Pierce followed with this brief statement, "No more suspense... God Forbid is over. Sorry."

Here is Coyle's full statement: "I am sorry to say that I am indeed leaving God Forbid. I started playing with these guys since I was 16 years old. Now I'm 32. You do the math. To say this is difficult and a big move for me would be an understatement. It has been very emotional and very sad for me to actually follow through with this, but I feel in my heart and head that it is the right thing to do.

"Let's first remove the elephant from the room, and explain why I am leaving. I don't want to leave the band, but there are elements of disorganization and unprofessionalism within the group that have made it impossible to be an effectively active band. I don't feel like I'm being treated in a way that meets my standards, so I have to remove myself from the equation. I'm not going into great detail because I don't want to throw anyone under the bus. I still love all the guys in God Forbid. They will always be my family even if there isn't a working band. But just because you love your family doesn't mean you can work with them in a professional sense.

"Anyone who has read any of my blogs has probably heard me talk about trying to cope with confronting adulthood after living a musician's life for my entire youth. I probably never, ever even entertained the idea of quitting God Forbid until my brother left in the spring of 2009. I always thought we were destined to 'make it'. I thought we were special. Nothing existed outside of the band. Nothing else mattered. Girlfriends, financial security, real world stuff would always take a back seat to the band. Even my girlfriends pretty much knew that.

"When Dallas quit, I became emboldened to carry on in spite of him. I wanted to prove that we didn't need him. And carry on we did as God Forbid had 3 of the biggest tours we ever had all booked in a row with Kris Norris filling in on a massive tour with Lamb of God, and than Matt Wicklund finally coming in to finish a festival run in Europe and than Mayhem Fest in the states. I never really dealt with Dallas leaving on an emotional level, because we were steadily on the road. I was so angry with him. He was pretty much by my side for my entire life either on stage, binge watching movies, drawing comics, playing basketball, playing guitar together or living in the bedroom next to mine in the same house. Than just like that…..he was gone.

"Things began to unravel on the Mayhem Fest 2009. The band was financially and logistically unprepared for the tour with very little label support because we were at the end of our contract with Century Media despite the efforts of A&R at the time, the eager and helpful Ray Harkins. We ended up splitting with our manager at the beginning of the tour because of the sh*tstorm of unpreparedness. Plus I could just tell, we weren't connecting with fans the same way we had, say at Ozzfest 5 years prior. The tour featured a lot of death metal, Behemoth, Job For a Cowboy, Black Dahlia Murder. There just seemed to be a turning of the tide, and as an artist you have to be aware of how the world is perceiving you. For some reason, whatever we were doing was not breaking through to the populous the same way.

"Just to put a cherry on top, my girlfriend broke up with me literally on the drive home from the tour due to finding out about some f**kery on my behalf. It didn't really hit me til I walked in my door at home, but I realized my brother was gone, my girl was gone, and my band career as a full time thing was probably over. I fell into a deep depression because I didn't have a leg to stand on and probably didn't get back on track for another 7-8 months. For the first time in my adult life though, I didn't really care about God Forbid. At that point, the band seemed to be the cause of my problems.

"But playing with the guys, and writing with Matt Wicklund in particular, really inspired me and helped me get out of my funk. I continued with the Equilibrium album out of loyalty to the guys, and I believe in finishing things I start, and that included doing some touring as well. All in all, I don't regret it because I think it's a fantastic album, if not our best album.

"Unfortunately, touring with the band last year proved to be unsustainable from a financial survival standpoint. I was homeless, in debt and needed to figure something out, because this lifestyle I was living was not working. "The last few years are the first time in my life I've really thought about what I wanted to do outside of God Forbid.

"The answer is A LOT. I have so many ideas and prospective projects on the docket, that I'm sure many of them will never see the light of the day. My priorities right now are having the time and freedom to be creative and productive. While still trying to keep the lights on of course. This is both exciting and scary. I'm not sure if I will end up with a regular career that puts me in an office 5 days a week or end up in another band touring full time again. I am just taking things as they come. I'm sure many of you have seen the reports regarding my new rock band and cover band, so I'm obviously continuing to play as much as possible. It's still my favorite thing to do in the world, so I will not be stopping playing or performing anytime soon. Having this time recently to figure out what I want has made me realize that being a musician is who I am. Even if I end up doing other things, I will always be a rock n roller at heart.

"I am keeping the door open to all forthcoming opportunities and I am not closing the door on God Forbid forever, but now is not the time." -

Aerosmith Cancel Concerts
Aerosmith announced on Sunday that they have been forced to cancel two music festival appearances this week because the local promoter for the shows was "unable to meet contractual obligations."

The band was scheduled to perform at festivals in China this week as part of their Global Warming Tour but have pulled out the shows in Shanghai on August 21st and Taipei on August 24th.

The group's representative sent over these comments from the band: "We are extremely upset to have disappointed our dedicated fans," says Steven Tyler. "They have welcomed us into their country and due to uncontrollable circumstances we will not be able to perform. We were so excited to share our music with them and look forward to one day returning and giving them the show they deserve."

"It's always been a dream of ours to play in Shanghai and Taipei, and meet our fans there," Tom Hamilton says. "We were really looking forward to visiting Shanghai and Taipei and playing for our fans there and are very disappointed that these two shows have been cancelled."

"We're disappointed as we wanted to play for our fans," said Joe Perry. "We've looked forward to this for a lifetime."

"I'm disappointed we weren't able to play for our fans in China; however, the circumstances were beyond our control," says Joey Kramer. "I sincerely hope Aerosmith will get another opportunity to come back to Shanghai and Taiwan to play for our many fans there."

The Replacements Confirm Reunion Lineup
(Classic Rock) The Replacements have confirmed their lineup for a handful of reunion shows 22 years after they last performed. Original members Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson will be joined by drummer Josh Freese and bassist David Minehan.

Dark Angel Address Reunion Rumors
Dark Angel singer Don Doty and drummer Gene Hoglan have addressed rumors that the band was planning to reunite and confirmed that they are currently discussing the possibility.

Hoglan says, "Howdy everybody. Now that I'm off the road for a few minutes, I'd like to address these Dark Angel rumors that are flying around. Yes, we have been talking about doing something next year, and although it looks like possibly some festivals could be in the works, right now it's just speculation. Don Doty and myself have been in contact for the first time in many many years, and it's been great to re-connect with my old friend.

"Fortunately, I've remained great buddies with all the DFA guys after all these years, and we do try to stay in contact with each other and see each other when we can, especially since we are all spread out over the Western US.

"We are indeed discussing the possibility of a reunion, and yes, the DFA guys are well aware of all of my other commitments, such as Testament, Dethklok and the like. So again, we are moving forward s-l-o-w-l-y, with hopes to getting Dark Angel's wings off the ground for festival season in 2014."

Doty had this to say, "Members of Dark Angel are currently sitting down for talks for a reunion. This will be for the year 2014. All are excited. I was talking on a radio show recently and had said that all members would be attending, this statement may have been misunderstood.

"Myself, Gene, Mike, Eric and Jim are talking and when talks are complete a statement will be given. We will know more in the months to come. We will let you know as it unravels." -

Unreleased Mars Volta Songs With David Guetta Leaked Online
(Radio.com) Originally borne from the ashes of Texas post-hardcore heroes At the Drive-In, prog-rock outfit The Mars Volta shocked the music world when singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala unexpectedly announced the band's break-up via Twitter in January of this year.

While The Mars Volta has splintered into two new bands — Bosnian Rainbows and Zavalaz, the group's legions of diehard fans are celebrating the release of 15 previously unheard tracks, which according to Spin were recorded with a most unlikely ally: EDM superstar David Guetta.

The tracks appeared on the Comatorium, a fan site for The Mars Volta. They were posted by site member ShaREEB, who says he received the songs from a random user who asked that he share them online.

While excited fans quickly began downloading and analyzing the trove of unearthed TMV tunes, Bixler-Zavala again took to Twitter to allegedly explain the music's surprising origins. - Read that and more including the download link.

Jeff Beck Appears On New Album From Queen's Roger Taylor
(Gibson) Queen drummer Roger Taylor has confirmed that his new solo album, Fun on Earth, will be released in October. Included on the disc is a re-make of "Say It's Not True," which was the first Queen studio single to feature singer Paul Rodgers.

In a recent interview with Classic Rock, Taylor said: "My first solo effort (in 1981) was called Fun in Space. I've called this one Fun on Earth. I've come down to earth a bit, but there's still a bit of fun in there--some smiley tracks.

"It's been written over a five year period, so it's very eclectic. Some gentle stuff, some rockier stuff, and some fairly political stuff." - more on this story

Massive Glam Rock Box Set Coming In Rocktober
(Classic Rock) A five-disc box set celebrating the history of glam rock aims to tell the entire story of the movement through 91 tracks. "Oh Yes We Can Love: The History Of Glam Rock" will be released by Universal on October 28 – but it contains much more than the usual suspects.

The label explains: "It isn't just Bowie, Bolan and Gary Glitter – it explores a complete myriad of mutations from early origins in Chuck Berry and Little Richard to the contemporary evolution in The Darkness and Foxy Shazam, and everything in between.

"When Marc Bolan appeared on Top of the Pops in 1971, daubed in glitter, it permitted a generation of teenyboppers to begin playing with the idea of androgyny. It marked the dawning of a new era, a rejection of what had gone before.

"Arguably reaching its zenith in 1973 when the likes of Slade, Sweet and Suzi Quatro all had a run of chart-topping singles, the death-knell was eventually sounded by the rise of punk. Yet throughout the 80s and 90s and into the new millennium, bands have often drawn liberally from the lexicon of glam." - More including the tracklist

Jon Lord's Concerto Coming to Blu-Ray and Vinyl
Late Deep Purple legend Jon Lord's "Concerto For Group And Orchestra" is set to be released as Blu-ray/CD set and on double vinyl on September 3rd. The new release follows the standard CD release from September 2012.

Lord said of the project in May 2012, shortly before his death, "Over these last years since leaving Deep Purple, I've played it over 30 times with different orchestras and conductors all over the world, and, of course, in 2000 I did it well over 30 times with Purple on the Concerto tour, so I've been honing the piece live on stage, and I've had the opportunity to change things in the score that weren't sounding quite right. It is therefore a marvelous and exciting prospect to have the definitive recording of the definitive version of the score."

The recording of the project began in Liverpool in June of 2011 when Lord recorded the rhythm section by conductor Paul Mann with Guy Pratt (Pink Floyd, Madonna) and Brett Morgan (Jon Anderson, Sting) with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

The recording then moved to the famed Abbey Road Studios in London where Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson, Steve Balsamo and Kasia Laska recorded vocals and Joe Bonamassa, Darin Vasilev and Steve Morse recorded guitar parts.

The double vinyl release will feature a special bonus of Jon Lord's last interview with the BBC from August 2012. The Blu-ray + CD release will include the full Concerto on CD and a 5.1 audio bonus piece on the Blu-ray, as well as a "Making Of" feature, in-depth interviews with Paul Mann and Marco de Goeij, and an exclusive new behind the scenes documentary "Up Close & Personal (Orchestral Recording Sessions)". -

Producer Excited With New Paul McCartney Album
(Gibson) Paul McCartney's forthcoming solo album is looking exceptionally strong, according to producer Ethan Johns. Johns, one of several producers working with the former Beatle, spoke with Rolling Stone about a ballad titled "Hosannah."

"The first day we had was remarkable," he said. "[McCartney] walked in with this incredible song, we threw up a couple of microphones and within four hours we had this great track. I think we did an edit between the first two takes."

The veteran soundman continued: "It had an incredible feel – a really evocative piece of music. A very interesting lyric, and the performance was great. Then we started to experiment with it, and I put a bunch of psychedelic strangeness on it. You have fun. 'Oh, try this! Do that!' It's just very inspiring to be around."

Johns was especially impressed by McCartney's receptive view towards collaboration, adding: "The first thing he said was, 'What do you feel like doing?' I could have said, 'Let's spend the day making percussion loops with drum machines,' and he would have been, 'Great! Let's do that!' I don't think he ever said 'No,' which is kind of the mark of who he is as an artist, really. He's always up for trying something new." - more on this story

Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band Going Down Under
Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band will be heading "Down Under" early next year as the band has announced a tour of Australia and New Zealand.

The tour will be kicking off on February 7th with group's very first concert in Perth. The tour also features the group's first concert in Adelaide and their first concert in New Zealand in over a decade when they close out the tour on March 1st in Auckland.

The new shows follow the Wrecking Ball tour's visit to Australia earlier this year where the band performed shows that run for over three hours in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Victoria's Hanging Rock.

Jon Landau explains why the band decided to go back, "Our shows in Australia earlier this year were among the very best and most satisfying of our whole 128 show tour.

"The crowds were tremendous, the fans as warm, friendly, and welcoming as we could ever hope for, and the quality of the performances, as virtually every reviewer commented, were spectacularly high.

"From the moment we finished the second show at Hanging Rock on March 31, we have been working on a plan to return next year. Among other things, we wanted to expand the number of places we play to include the Hunter Valley, Perth and Adelaide, with a trip to Auckland, as well. Those venues are in addition to the new dates in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

"In other words, this will be our most far reaching tour of Australasia ever - and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are planning to make it their finest." - more on this story

LaBrie recently admitted he'd aimed for a more pop-oriented style of songwriting for the project, saying: "They're pretty damn poppish. A song like Back On The Ground definitely deserves to be in amongst the songs being played on radio these days, and it stands up against any one of them.

"For me a song is either a song or it's not good, and what's important is what it conveys to me regardless of whether it's a metal song, a pop song or a jazz piece. There are songs on Impermanent Resonance that definitely have that pop sensibility to them." - Check out the song here.
