Today's Day in Rock

Freak Accident Derails Rev Theory Plans
Rev Theory's guitarist Julien Jorgensen suffered an injury from a freak accident at a wedding and it has forced the band to pull out of their upcoming fall dates including a tour with Five Finger Death Punch, All That Remains, and Hatebreed.

The Rev Theory camp sent over these details: While at a post-wedding reception gathering, an individual standing adjacent to Jorgensen was opening a beer bottle without an opener. It slipped, shattered on the edge, and sliced the guitarist's left hand on the follow through. The resulting cut has been operated on, and he is unable to perform at this time. A full recovery is expected.

Jorgensen shared, "I am super bummed that happened, and it is a freak accident. It is a helpless feeling. I feel bad about dropping off the tour and disappointing the fans. As soon as I am able, we will be back on the road." Singer Rich Luzzi added, "After being a band for 10 years, Rev does not feel comfortable taking the stage without our brother as it would not be a true representation of the band."

Future plans for touring will be announced once available.

Weezer's Mikey Welsh Predicted His Own Death
(Banana 101.5) Weezer's former bass player Mikey Welsh was in Chicago to see his old band perform, the 40-year old was found dead by hotel staff prior to the show. The strangest part of the story is that he actually foresaw his untimely passing.

News of his "unexpected" death was first reported by his family via Twitter, yet it was not a surprise to everyone. On September 26th, Welsh posted the following eerily cryptic message on Twitter himself: "Dreamt I died in Chicago next weekend (heart attack in my sleep). Need to write my will today."

Welsh later corrected his timing mix up saying, "Correction: weekend after next." Whether this was a desperate cry for help or a genuine vision of his own doom will probably never be clear. more on this story

Panic! at The Disco Singer Hospitalized But Band Rocks On
Salt Lake City rockers King Niko sent over this bit of news about how their frontman and Neon Trees' Tyler Glenn helped save the day for a Panic! at The Disco appearance at a radio festival this past weekend after the PATD's singer Brendon Urie was hospitalized.

Panic! At The Disco arrived at Gallivan Plaza in downtown Salt Lake to headline the X96 FM Big Ass Show without their lead vocalist, Brendon Urie. Urie, who with the rest of Panic! At The Disco had recently returned from a tour in Indonesia, had a fever of 105 degrees [PATD's site said 102], and doctors at the Los Angeles hospital where he was being treated warned the singer against travelling, fearing malaria.

In a moment of desperation the band considered their options: cancel a sold-out festival-headlining gig, or figure out a way to play without their charismatic front man. Luckily, Panic! At The Disco bassist Dallon Weekes caught Salt Lake City rock band King Niko's Big Ass Show set, and found in frontman Ransom Wydner the onstage persona he needed to fill in for Urie. more on this story

Kid Rock, in association with his partners, will donate money to local charities, causes and individuals via the Kid Rock Foundation, along every stop of his "Underplay" club tour. The tour will feature stops at Nashville's famed Ryman Theater and New York's Beacon Theater to name a few, a big change from Kid Rock's "Born Free" Tour, which saw him playing the country's biggest stadiums, arenas and amphitheaters. more on this story

Megadeth's Mustaine Recovering From Surgery
(Banana 101.5) Years of headbanging will take it's toll on your neck — just ask Dave Mustaine of Megadeth. The metal vet had to undergo surgery for that very reason, but after just two weeks he already "feels great".

The metal community just let out a collective sigh of relief as Dave Mustaine has emerged from his neck surgery healthy and unscathed. Mustaine risked serious injury (and the possibility of being paralyzed) by fulfilling Megadeth's obligation to play at the Yankee Stadium show with The Big 4 September 14th. Regarding his decision to postpone his surgery until after the gig, Mustaine told Rolling Stone:

"I thought about it and I thought, 'You know what? I trust God and I know he's got me in his hands. I know that he hasn't brought me this far through all this adversity and done all this reconciliation with all the bands and us all getting along this well to have the finale show here in the States stopped. And I just thought, either God's everything or it's nothing, and I believe in him, so that's why." more on this story

Guns N' Roses Now What Axl Wanted It To Be Says Former Member
(hennemusic) Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke was asked his opinion about the current version of his former band. Here is what he had to say:

"As it stands? Well, knowing Axl, and knowing Axl 20 years ago, and knowing what he wanted to do, I would assume that he's a happy guy," says the guitarist.

"This is, [from] what he explained to me, what he wanted the band to be. When we had our, what I call, a disagreement, he wanted to take the band in a new direction. He wanted to bring in lots of people and this is what he envisioned. I assume he is happy. Is it the kind of music that I enjoy? Some of it, some of it. I think it's creative and I think it's what music is supposed to be. It's supposed to be original and creative and I think it is all those things. It's just, to me, when I think of Guns N' Roses, it doesn't sound like Guns N' Roses to me. But as I say, if this was an Axl Rose album, it'd be fantastic, because it's good music. It is! I can't say it's not good music." more on this story

No More Beers For Ozzy
(Rock News Desk) Ozzy Osbourne finally quit drugs after he realised almost all the friends he used to go on benders with were dead. And he started by focusing on what he says is the most difficult substance to stop using – tobacco.

Osbourne tells Classic Rock Revisited: "I got fed up with quitting. To be honest with you I was not having a good time. I would make all of these grandiose statements about how I was 'Mr Sober' now. In the National Enquirer the following day you would see me on the floor in a bog covered in piss.

"The first thing I stopped was tobacco – and don't ask me how I did that. I have been in nearly every rehab around; I have been in rehab with heroin users and they say, 'I can put the smack down but I can't give up tobacco'. more on this story

Former Yngwie Malmsteen Singers Return With New Projects
(Gibson) Two former Yngwie Malmsteen singers are working on new releases for early 2012.

Jeff Scott Soto, who appeared on Yngwie's first two solo releases, Rising Force and Marching Out, says he is two vocals tracks away from wrapping up work on Damage Control, which he describes as combining the best elements of his first two Frontiers Records. Soto's bandmates and cowriters on the album are Joel Hoekstra of Rock of Ages/Night Ranger, and Jamie Borger of Talisman/Treat. The album is due in March 2012 on Frontiers, with a full European and South American tour and possible U.S. dates to follow.

Meanwhile, Joe Lynn Turner, who appeared on Malmsteen's Odyssey album in 1988, is putting the finishing touches on a new Sunstorm album to be called Emotional Fire. The first two Sunstorm albums were inspired by the AOR catalogue of songs Turner penned for himself or other artists of the genre, but Emotional Fire is inspired by Turner's numerous 1980s background vocal sessions for other artists. Bob Ezrin The Other Half of Alice Cooper
(hennemusic) Alice Cooper is currently on the road across Europe, touring in support of his new album, "Welcome 2 My Nightmare" - the sequel to his classic 1975 concept album.

"He [Ezrin] brings out the very worst in me, and I bring out the worst in him," explains Cooper, "which makes us make really good albums. Bob is really the other half of Alice: he understands Alice as much as I do... and we write for the character; we don't write for me, cuz Alice is another being. [for example] 'I would say this, but Alice would never say that.' So, when I write 'I'll Bite Your Face Off," that's coming from Alice." Check out the video interview here

Singled Out: White Willow's Floor 67
White Willow release their brand new album, "Terminal Twilight," today and to celebrate we asked Jacob to tell us about one of the songs from the effort, "Floor 67". Here is the story:

The song "Floor 67" off our latest album "Terminal Twilight" actually started with me reading a newspaper article about a couple in Brazil. This was back when the first big financial crack happened, back in 2008. This well-off couple had bought the penthouse apartment in Brazil's newest, fanciest, most luxurious high-rise apartment building.

They were the first couple to have bought an apartment, and they moved in immediately. And just, like almost on the very day that they moved in, the market crashed and everything stopped. No-one bought another apartment, development in the area stopped completely. But they had paid for their apartment, and refused to budge on the matter. So they lived alone, in the topmost apartment of this gigantic skyscraper, while the world pretty much fell apart all around them.

I read that and I thought, THIS is a song if ever I heard one. So I wrote it, and sort of took the story to its extreme conclusion, so there are lines like: "The empty cabana, the wolves by the poolside, the hawks in the grand foyer", which sort of puts an apocalyptic spin on the whole thing. But the story seemed apocalyptic to me from the outset.

Today's Full Report

Jennifer Hudson No Show At Michael Jackson Tribute Concert
(TMZ) Jennifer Hudson's no-show at the Michael Jackson tribute concert this weekend caught the show's producers completely off-guard ... especially since she was already paid to do the gig ... this according to sources close to the show.

Rico Suave Singer Vs Lady Gaga Musical Director
(TMZ) The one-hit wonder who sang that catchy "Rico Suave" song back in the '90s claims he's been swindled out of millions of dollars by Lady Gaga's musical director ... this according to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ.

Gerardo Mejia grew up to be a bigshot music executive with Interscope Records -- but according to the suit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Gerardo left his gig in 2004 to become a personal manager for an up and coming music stud named Fernando Garibay.

Gerardo definitely has an eye for talent -- because Garibay has been a MASSIVE success, as the musical director for Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" album ... and has also worked with megastars like Britney Spears, Sting and Enrique Iglesias.

But according to the docs, Gerardo claims he never got his commissions for the "lucrative" deal he scored for Garibay back in 2007 ... and now, he wants his revenge in court.

Gerardo is now demanding AT LEAST $4,000,000 for his troubles.

We called Garibay for comment -- so far, no response. more on this story

Paris Hilton's Sex Tape Partner Being Stalked?
(TMZ) Paris Hilton's sex tape partner Rick Salomon claims a mentally unstable woman has been terrorizing him and his teenage daughters -- once even leaving her "soiled" pants on his front steps.

Rick filed a request for protection last week in L.A. County Superior Court, claiming 44-year-old Heidi Thomas -- his former real estate agent -- showed up at his home several times on September 16 ... refusing to leave the property.

According to Rick, Heidi threatened and terrified his daughters, leaving her "soiled pants" on the front door step ... which may have been a contributing factor in her arrest.

Rick claims Heidi is emotionally unstable and appears homeless -- and wants a judge to keep her at least 100 yards away from him and his family at all times.

Heidi is still in custody. A hearing for the restraining order is set for October 12th. more on this story

Daryl Wright Wildy Inappopriate Tomorrow
Comedian Daryl Wright's CD debut, Wildy Inappopriate, is set for release tomorrow(Tuesday, October 11th).

Eardrum Records was founded by comedian George Carlin in 1986 and is currently run by Jerold Hamza, Carlin's long time manager of more than three decades. Wright is the first and only other artist besides Carlin to be signed to Eardrum Records since its formation.

Hamza said, "Having been partners with George for more than 35 years, I was no hurry to work with another comedian. But then Daryl was brought to my attention by my now partner, Rocco Urbisci, producer/director of George's last 10 HBO specials and found that Daryl had a very special and unique comedic voice. Raised in the streets of Washington, DC and being a former felon gives Daryl that wonderful "edge" to his stand-up."

Casey Anthony's Attorney Commends Amanda Knox's Parents
(TMZ) Casey Anthony and Amanda Knox have a lot in common -- they were both recently freed from jail, they're both big celebrities now and they're both hot. What they don't have in common ... supportive parents, at least according to Casey Anthony's lawyer.

Jose Baez tells TMZ he was very happy for Amanda Knox and her family when the verdict was overturned. Baez says he watched the verdict and it was " a very surreal moment for me because I remembered being in that situation -- where a young woman's life hung in the balance -- and in a split second, her life was given back to her."

Baez says he felt Amanda's family played a key role in things, saying they should "be applauded" for sticking with her through the entire process -- unlike Casey's parents, who did not support her and instead, he feels, "hurt her case."

In the end, Baez says they're just a pair of "all-American girls." more on this story

I wrote this song from a different point of view than most of my songs. As opposed to a traditional love song, this is a song where the Narrator has "never even spoke" to the girl he longs for. It's a song about someone falling in love with someone from afar, but the lyrics are disguised as a normal love song.

I was inspired to write "Maybe" after seeing a movie, and for a little while after, I couldn't stop thinking about the lead actress. I wished she loved me instead of her character's love interest (I still have not met this particular actress to this day).

This song was recorded in LA with the rest of the album. Alex played a great laid back drum part, some fun keyboard parts throughout and sang some badass background vocals. I played bass and guitars on it. I'm pretty sure I sang on it too. My playing was influenced by the band Big Star.

Ozzy Confirms Black Sabbath Reunion
(hennemusic) After months of rumors, innuendo and speculation about a Black Sabbath reunion, Ozzy Osbourne has confirmed the band has reconnected.

While speaking with Billboard about his upcoming second book, "Trust Me, I'm Dr. Ozzy," Osbourne touched on the swirling Sabbath reunion rumors. "Yes, it's a very, very strong possibility," he says of getting the old band back together.

Velvet Revolver Eye New Singer
Apparently Velvet Revolver isn't entirely on the backburner and a member of the band reveals in a new interview that they are looking at a new singer.

The singer in question is Ours acclaimed frontman Jimmy Gnecco who jams three songs with Velvet Revolver members Duff McKagan, Slash and Matt Sorum at the recent Road Recovery concert which honored Slash.

When OCWeekly.com asked Duff McKagan about finding a new vocalist for Velvet Recover, he responded: "Slash and I played in New York a couple weeks ago and Matt Sorum was there. There was a singer there we might write some songs with. None of us have really tried [to find anyone] in the last few years. We've all been busy with other things. I think once that whole thing went down with Scott [Weiland], we thought we'd find a guy right away. Once a few months went by, it was like, 'Oh f**k.'

"We didn't give up on the band but you can't force a singer into a situation. It's got to just kind of happen. So playing a few weeks ago with that singer, it seemed really natural. So we'll see. I'll come back to you on that."

Phil Anselmo Discusses Dimebag's Murder
(Rock News Desk) Former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo recently revealed he'd spoken to the cop who stopped the shooting rampage which ended Dimebag's life.

And he said any member of Pantera would have been a target for the ex-Marine who opened fire on Dime and three others at a Damageplan concert in 2004. Ohio police officer James Niggemeyer shot the madman in the face, killing him instantly and ending the horror.

Dimebag's brother and bandmate Vinnie Paul, who was also a member of Damageplan after Pantera split, has not spoken to Anselmo since. The tragedy appears to have cemented the distance between them. The singer wasn't allowed to attend his former colleague's funeral – but he's spoken of the conversation he had later with Niggemeyer. more on this story

Zakk Wylde Has No Grudge Against Ozzy
(hennemusic) All is well between Black Label Society leader Zakk Wylde and his former boss, Ozzy Osbourne. Zakk had two lengthy stints as Ozzy's guitarist: the first, from 1987 to 1995, and then from 2001 to 2009, when Osbourne brought in Firewind axeman Gus G. to handle things.

The days with Ozzy are behind him now — at least for the time being — since Osbourne announced in 2009 that he was replacing Wylde. But Zakk harbors no hard feelings. On the contrary...Osbourne simply decided his band was starting to sound like BLS.

"Yeah, no, totally, I still talk to Oz," Zakk tells NewsOK. "No, no fallin' out or nothin'. No, we never got in any arguments ever. I mean, we were too busy dyin' of laughter. It was just like with Oz, 'Zakk, I don't wanna be the lead singer in Black Label,' you know what I mean? I mean, if Randy Rhoads, if Saint Rhoads was still around, and if Randy was leavin' Oz, goin' to Quiet Riot and comin' back to Oz, Quiet Riot, Ozzy, Quiet Riot, after a while you go, 'Uh, Randy, it's startin' to sound like Quiet Riot. I don't wanna be in Quiet Riot...I wanna have my own thing.' And you know, you can't blame Ozzy for that at all." more on this story

STEVE PERRY'S STREET TALK A VINYL CLASSIC:

Steve Perry Oversees Meticulous Remastering of His 1984 Solo Album Debut, Featuring #1 Oh Sherrie
180-gram virgin vinyl edition available everywhere starting November 1, 2011, through Columbia/Legacy
Street Talk is released simultaneously with CD and gatefold double 180-gram virgin vinyl edition of brand new Journey collection, Greatest Hits Vol. 2 and gatefold double 180-gram virgin vinyl edition of original Greatest Hits. All overseen by Steve Perry.

Nearly three decades after its initial release in 1984, Street Talk, the debut solo album from Journey lead singer Steve Perry, has been meticulously remastered for a new generation of rock fans who are rediscovering the sonic wonders of vinyl.
The RIAA double-platinum classic, featuring the #1 single Oh Sherrie (and follow-up hits Foolish Heart, I Believe, She's Mine and Strung Out) will be available as an audiophile 180-gram LP in original artwork, starting November 1, 2011, through Columbia/Legacy, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. The LP will also come with an exclusive free bonus download of the specially mastered-for-vinyl digital files.
As many long time fans remember, Street Talk was one of the most successful albums of the original MTV era. The classic video for Oh Sherrie - in which Steve lampoons the high-concept video making that was popular at the time - became a memorable touchstone on its own, marking one of the first times an artist broke the standard album-version formula of early MTV. Two other videos, Foolish Heart and Strung Out followed, with Perry showing his varied roots namely Soul and Rock music as well as poking fun at the industry that was rapidly making him a household name.
For the new remastering, Steve worked at long-time industry standard The Mastering Lab in Ojai, CA using the original master tapes with engineer Robert Hadley to achieve what he feels is the definitive vinyl version of the album.
I started with a pristine 24bit/96khz transfer of the original stereo mix and went from there. We used Pro Tools to bring out some of the subtle frequencies and moments in the original mixes that, in the old world of live analog hands-on console mixing would get compromised. Now we can take our time and really make the original tracks shine. This hybrid of analog and digital is, in my opinion, the wave of the future. The vinyl pressings also sound fantastic! The RTI pressing plant really knows how to take the lacquers we created and press some amazing audiophile-quality vinyl. I truly feel like this is the way this album was supposed to sound! Steve Perry

Street Talk by Steve Perry (Columbia/Legacy 88697 93882 1originally issued April 1984, as Columbia 39334) Selections: 1. Oh Sherrie (1st single, Rock #1, Hot 100 #3) 2. I Believe (2nd single, Rock #43) 3. Go Away 4. Foolish Heart (5th single, Hot 100 #18) 5. It's Only Love 6. She's Mine (3rd single, Rock #15, Hot 100 #21) 7. You Should Be Happy 8. Running Alone 9. Captured by the Moment 10. Strung Out (4th single, Rock #17, Hot 100 #40).

EDDIE MONEY IS NEW MORNING SHOW HOST FOR THE RIVER:

From: blogs.ajc.com/radio-tv-talk/2011/10/06/eddie-money-new-morning-show-host-for-the-river
"Imagine when he does the two tickets to paradise giveaway. Classic rocker Eddie Money has been tapped to do mornings on The River 97.1 starting Monday at 6 a.m. The guy behind such radio classics as Take Me Home Tonight, Baby Hold On and Think I'm in Love will record the majority of his shows from his home in Los Angeles, but will come to Atlanta periodically. Money was in town last week to lay down a couple days worth of Money in the Morning shows. Cagle, program director at The River, said the station wanted to make a big splash and started thinking about different artists who might make a good radio host. A friend of Cagle's who knew Money approached him in Los Angeles and asked how he felt about doing radio. Money bit, and will now host a weekday show from 6-9 a.m.
He's got a natural knack, said Cagle. He loves to talk, he tells some great stories and has great information that people would never hear otherwise about being on tour with Led Zeppelin, being on the road with the Eagles, those kinds of things. As this is Money's first foray into radio, Cagle will serve as a coach, listening to Money's recordings and providing advice. The show won't air live at least at first while Money settles in. Keep an ear out for announcements about Money making some appearances in Atlanta to promote Money in the Morning.

After ongoing communication via the internet, Benedicto flew from California to the UK to see him. Shortly after she arrived, Russell took her to a forest and convinced her to wear a blindfold claiming he had a gift for her. New Queen Singer Options Include Lady Gaga and TV Show
(hennemusic) Queen's "Radio Ga Ga" might turn out to be more than just a song, if guitarist Brian May has his way. The Daily Express reports Queen are in talks with Lady Gaga to work with the pop star, and maybe even tour together.

At the London BMI Awards Tuesday, where Queen were honored with the Icon Award, May spoke about where the legendary band might be headed. "We talk about going out on the road all the time, but there's a bit of a singer problem, to put it mildly," said May. "We get a lot of offers to work with other people. I worked with Lady Gaga and she's very creative, and is someone we've talked about singing, fronting the band with. She's not just a singer, she writes her own material."

He also said that 25-year-old Gaga isn't the only person he has considered. "We have talked about doing duets with other people and, in a strange way, I almost pressed the yes button. We were debating the idea of a TV show where we have all these guest stars. We didn't press it, today, but we are still looking at it. Lady Gaga has said she would like to do something with us." more on this story

McCartney: The Beatles Would Have Reunited
(Gibson) The Beatles parted ways in 1969 amid fatigue, conflict and even some bitterness, leaving behind a legacy of the most celebrated musical enterprise in rock and roll history. Thankfully, the guys patched things up in the 1970s, and had all of the members survived a bit longer, Paul McCartney says, eventually, the band would have properly reunited.

"If John [Lennon] and George [Harrison] were still here, it's highly likely we would've had a Beatles reunion," Sir McCartney told the Daily Express, "I think we would've mellowed to the point where we would've said, 'Come on, let's do it.'

"The thing was whenever we got together, no matter if we were arguing, we played great," the 69-year-old added. "We knew each other so well; we read each other… It would've been great, but I'm not a great believer in 'What if?' You can't do it, but I suppose it's nice to speculate." more on this story

Throwdown's touring lineup for the trek will feature Dave Peters (vocals) (Throwdown 2000 - present), Mark Mitchell (bass) (Throwdown 2007 - present), Davie Nassie (guitar) (Bleeding Through / ex-No Use For A Name) and Tim "Yogi" Watts (drums) (Demon Hunter, ex-The Showdown).

Frontman Dave Peters had this to say: "I can't say I love having a chronically fragmented lineup for Throwdown, but it does leave the door open for cool opportunities like this. I'm VERY happy to be playing these shows with Yogi and Nassie as 'special guests' or whatever you want to call them under the circumstances. They're great guys and equally great musicians. It will be a cool thing for fans of the three bands too, as it's hard to say if or when we'd share a stage in the future. The only drawback is running the risk of them setting the sound bar too high for the next time we play in our backyard". more on this story

Iced Earth are giving fans a taste of their upcoming album by streaming the title track "Dystopia" online.

Iced Earth 10th studio album, Dystopia, is set for release October 18th. Fans can now stream the title track here.

Although Dystopia is not a concept album, founder Jon Schaffer admits there are unifying themes to several of the songs - and even an appearance by band mascot "Set Abominae." "I've always been fascinated by the darker side of life," Schaffer said. "Movies like Metropolis, Brazil, and The Matrix resonate with me. The same for albums like 2112, The Wall, and of course Operation:Mindcrime. Their images of a soulless, repressive society stuck with me over the years. It must be the sci-fi fan in me." more on this story

Singled Out: Glyder's Don't Make Their Mistakes
Today Jackie Robinson from Glyder tells us about "Don't Make Their Mistakes" from their forthcoming album "Backroads to Byzantium," which is set to hit stores on October 25th. Here is the story:

It was a really difficult decision for me to single out one track; I love each song on the album for different reasons. Our new album "Backroads to Byzantium" has quite a bit of variety, it definitely rocks but I feel there is more to it than just that.

The song I'd like to talk about is "Don't Make Their Mistakes". This is one of the tracks off the album that holds personal significance for me; the subject matter regards the issue that has affected so many people in Northern Ireland. Regardless of what some people would like you to believe, the religious/political divide is still firmly in place. I know this is old news; the worrying thing is though that it seems to be getting worse, I see more unjust hatred in the youth now than I've ever seen before. So many kids are being bombarded by bigoted and prejudiced narrow-minded views from their parents; the religious segregation of some of our communities does nothing to stop this perpetuating either. Thankfully I was lucky enough to grow up in a family that didn't express those views, and I was allowed to form opinions for myself. It's seems crazy to me that this kind of sectarianism still exists today, even crazier that known terrorists are allowed to have political control. My family and friends have been directly affected by the "troubles"; they have affected the lives of so many decent people. If no one acts and things stay the way they are then this madness will just keep continuing. I'm under no illusions of my control of this situation (which is none), but maybe if this song helps to change one persons view then I've done a little good.

Due to the geographical distance between the members of the band now, we had to take a slightly different approach to the way we went about writing the songs for this album. We had to work on the songs using home recording software sending our ideas back and forth via email; you can watch a short documentary about how we made the album on Youtube. (Glyder- writing for "Backroads to Byzantium").

"Don't Make Their Mistakes" kicks off with a short ominous bass intro before your hit by the riffing guitars, and driving force of the drums. The vocals come in around the 20second mark with real grit and authority (if I do say so myself ha-ha). You will hear a heart filled vocal, with lots of emotion. You will not hear an angst filled performance as we're not a metal band, and it wouldn't suit the track. The tone and mood of the song is set by this point. Then it comes to the catchy chorus and bridge, before you come to the soaring guitar solo.

This track and a couple of others on the album are a bit of a departure from the original line-up sound, but due to great twin guitar work of Bat and Pete you still know its Glyder. "Don't Make Their Mistakes" is a great rockin song, that like the rest of the album you'll find hard to get out of your head!

Glyder are back on a new journey, will you follow us??

You Say France & I Whistle was born out of the frustration of having played in too many "cool" pop bands without any love. In their cold Swedish environment, the band members wanted to share some colorfulness that could be spread throughout the people. But when every stage had a smoke machine it wasn't that easy to reach out. Michael Jackson Estate Loans Katherine Jackson Six Million Dollars

Steve Jobs RIP
We are sad to report that the visionary cofounder of Apple Computer, Steve Jobs, died Wednesday after a long fight against pancreatic cancer. He was 56. Here is our tribute to the man and his legacy:

Steve Jobs' impact on modern society can not be understated. He may not have invented the internet, but he helped make it possible. Jobs helped usher in the age of personal computing by first seeing the potential of his friend Steve Wozniak's homemade computer and helping to create the first mass-market personal computer with the Apple II.

It was a visit to Xerox PARC where Steve's dream of something "Insanely Great" was first sparked. It was on that visit that Jobs was exposed to three technologies which dominate computing today: object oriented programming, Ethernet and a revolutionary new way of computing... the Graphical User Interface (GUI). more on this story

Why Anthrax Ditched Their Singer
(hennemusic) In a new interview with Guitar World, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante and guitarist Scott Ian shed some light on the abrupt 2009 resignation/firing of singer Dan Nelson, after he spent less than two years with the band. At the time, the group issued a press release stating Nelson's departure was 'due to illness', and that upcoming tour dates were cancelled.

Nelson fired back online with a statement of his own: "It was the other band members' decision to cancel the tour dates, not mine. I was ready, willing and able to do my job. After issuing the press release, the other band members decided, on their own accord, that I had 'resigned' from the band. I never resigned from the band."

Until now, Anthrax have chosen not to elaborate on what went down.... According to Ian, "(Nelson's) words were, 'I quit. I'm not doing this. Don't come to my house. Don't try and talk me out of this.' Again. Because that wasn't the first time he had quit Anthrax; it was the third time. But that was his M.O. He would quit, and then he would make a bunch of demands on us, and we would cave and he would come back."

"First show we did with him, backstage, big argument, big blowout," added Benante. "It was unbelievable. And from that moment we should have known. And all along, he just kept pulling weird s**t. Like, he would call me and not tell the other guys, or call one of them and not tell the rest of us, and just talk s**t." more on this story

Billy Corgan Refutes Smashing Pumpkins Break-Up Reports
(Banana 101.5) Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan explains an ominous statement he made last week about the band's fate being tied to the success of their new album 'Oceania'.

Most reports on the interview with Billboard cited his comments as a dark cloud over the future of the band. Corgan recently did some clarifying in an interview with Crestfallen.com:

"I would say those reports are irresponsible. We are very happy together as a band and as friends, and there are no plans to disband, nor any discussions about disbanding. My point was if Oceania is not well received, it would be time to change our focus as a band. I have plenty of projects that have been sitting on the shelf for a while that I'd be more than happy for us to get into. That said, Oceania is a record we are very proud of and we hope people feel about it as strongly as we do." more on this story

Avenged Sevenfold Was The Beginning of Portnoy's End in Dream Theater
(hennemusic) The Mike Portnoy situation is a topic Dream Theater will likely have to address for some time to come, and guitarist John Petrucci does just that in a new interview with Guitar World. One of the first signs of an issue with Portnoy was the drummer's plan to tour with Avenged Sevenfold at a time when Dream Theater were planning to record.

"Mike had played on Avenged's album ['Nightmare'] and that was fine," explains Petrucci. "We all do side projects when time permits. But touring with the band, that was a different story. That was taking significant time away from Dream Theater at a point when we were all planning to start recording. Initially, we put off recording to go on tour with Iron Maiden — that was too good an opportunity for us to turn down. And then when Mike said he was going on the road with Avenged Sevenfold right after the Maiden tour, that didn't feel right."

Portnoy then asked DT to take an extended hiatus, with no timeline to regroup. "In the end, it was something we couldn't do," says John. "Mike wanted to hold all the cards. He wanted to get back together when it suited him. We couldn't abide by that. So he decided to quit. It was quite a blow.
