Def Leppard's Suffering From Unexplained Spasms(Classic Rock)

Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott says he's been suffering from bronchial spasms for a couple of months. He points to the band's August 7 performance at biker festival the Sturgis Rally, South Dakota for the issue - but insists it won't stop him from performing their upcoming shows, which includes dates in the UK and Ireland next month.
He tells the Belfast Telegraph: "We've three American shows left, then we've a three-week break and then we're off to Japan before the British and Irish tour. Sometimes the road is tough. I've had a bronchial spasm for about nine weeks.

"It's when you've got a cough and all the doctors can't figure out why you have it. It's one of those random things, I just cough for no reason, but luckily I've managed to avoid it onstage."

He continues: "It was brought on, I believe, by the dust and gas emissions from when we played this biker festival. They line up their bikes and rev their engines while you play and when you've got 30,000 doing it you can imagine the kind of air you're breathing in. It can't be good for you."

He says that show, coupled with the fact the band have been on the road throughout 2015, means his throat "gets a battering every night" and adds: " Sometimes you just have to suck it up and get on with the show." Read more here.



Fourth Member Of Goodbye To Gravity Dies From Club Fire(Classic Rock)

Goodbye To Gravity bassist Alex Pascu has died from his injuries in the Bucharest club fire last month, taking the death toll to 51. Drummer Bodgan Enache lost his life earlier this week, while guitarists Vlad Telea and Mihal Alexandru didn't survive the blaze at the Colectiv Club in Romania on October 30.
Vocalist Andrei Galut is the only surviving band member - he's among a total of 24 people who remain in hospital in serious conditions, while 52 others are also under medical supervision.

Meanwhle, Bucharest mayor Cristian Popescur Piedone has been released from prison, after having been arrested on suspicion of corruption in connection with the club. He was accused of allowing Colectiv to operate without appropriate safety permits.

Venue owner Alin Anastasescu and two associates were arrested and charged with homicide on November 2. Romanian prime minister Victor Ponta and his government resigned as a result of public reaction to the tragedy. Read more here.



Duff Reveals Unexpected Guns N' Roses Influences(Classic Rock)



Duff McKagan has recalled how jamming to classic funk records helped form the Guns N' Roses rhythm section's groove-fuelled style. The bass player and drummer Steven Adler jammed along to Cameo and Sly And The Family Stone albums as they were honing the band's early sound. And without that experience, McKagan says, they might never have developed the edge that made them the biggest rock band of their time.
McKagan tells Bass Frontiers: "Steven and I would play to Cameo, for Steven to get that groove. And that influenced the back groove on Appetite For Destruction. That's all from playing to Cameo, Sly And The Family Stone. Just kind of playing along to some cassette.

"And then we played ourselves, and we developed grooves. And he really became probably the best small-kit groove drummer there ever was. No rack toms. Just a floor tom and a snare and a kick drum, hi-hat, cowbell. But all you got at that point is groove. Your groove's gotta be deep, or go home. And he had a great groove."

McKagan also talks about seeing Axl Rose in action with LA Guns in Hollywood before he joined GNR. He says: "It was at The Troubadour. I got there late and saw a couple of songs. And it was just like a bull loose in the ring.

"It was, like, 'What the hell?' And he was different. He wasn't metal, and he wasn't punk - he was like his own thing. And I identified with that." Watch the full interview here.


Buddy Guy Shares His Jimmy Page Regret(Classic Rock)

Buddy Guy forgot to ask Jimmy Page an important question the only time they ever met - and he still regrets it. The blues icon has only ever come face-to-face with the Led Zeppelin guitarist at the Kennedy Center Awards in Washington, DC in 2012.
Guy tells MusicRadar: "I own the largest blues club in Chicago and I've got everybody to sign a guitar, but him. Now I can't track him down!" He recalls first encountering British blues musicians when he visited the country in 1965. "I toured with The Yardbirds and Rod Stewart was the valet," he says.

"I didn't know who Clapton, Beck, Jimmy Page, none of them was. They all were telling me they didn't know a Strat could play the blues. I laughed and said, 'What do you mean?'

"They were all looking at Gibson guitars. I went in there with a Strat and was playing in a kind of wild and crazy way, like throwing it up and catching it." Read more here.




Megadeth Have 'Cool Lineup' In Mind For North American Tour(Classic Rock)

Lamb Of God won't join Megadeth on their 2016 North American tour dates, Dave Mustaine has confirmed but he says he has a "cool lineup" in mind for the trek.
Randy Blythe and co are currently on tour with Mustaine's band in the UK, with drummer Chris Adler pulling double duty. But the Megadeth mainman told fans in a Periscope Q&A that the two bands won't join up for Megadeth's North America shows - the dates for which have yet to be confirmed.

Mustaine says: "I'm really excited about coming back to the States and doing our North American tour there. The dates are coming along pretty well. And we've got three bands we're gonna be taking out with us there.

"Not completely sure about confirming all of them, but if they do confirm, the guys that I'm thinking about - no, it's not Lamb Of God for North America - if those guys are on it, I think it's gonna be a cool lineup." Read more here.




Ritchie Blackmore's Former Singer Excited About New Rainbow(Classic Rock)


Former Rainbow frontman Graham Bonnet says he's excited at the prospect of seeing Ritchie Blackmore's latest band in action. The guitar icon recently unveiled his touring lineup for his upcoming rock shows.
And Bonnet, who previously urged Blackmore to "find the best young talent" rather than looking backwards, says he's sure the exposure the band will receive will stand them in good stead for the future.

He says on Facebook: "No one is happier than I about Ritchie's return to rock. I'm excited to see the band he has chosen as he has introduced so many amazing musician's to the world and I am sure that this will be no different.

Beatles Session Drummer Andy White Dead At 85(Classic Rock)


Renowned session drummer Andy White has died at the age of 85 after a "massive stroke." The Scottish musician, who famously replaced Ringo Starr on the recording of the Beatles' debut single Love Me Do, died on Monday in New Jersey, USA.
His wife, the voice actress Thea White, broke the news to her husband's friend and fellow sticksman Clive Edwards - formerly of UFO and Wild Horses - in an email that has been passed to Classic Rock writer Dave Ling.

White says: "I am overwhelmingly sad to have to tell you that Andy had a massive stroke last Thursday and died this afternoon, never regaining consciousness. He so enjoyed communicating with you about your mutual drum set." Read more here.




Bad Brains' Dr. Know No Longer In Critical Condition(TeamRock Radio)


Bad Brains' guitarist Dr. Know is no longer in a critical condition, it's been revealed. Know, aka Gary Miller, was admitted to hospital last week and was said to be on life support, with Cro-Mags frontman John Joseph later reporting his health was improving.
No cause of his condition has been made available but the band have given an update via their Facebook page. A statement reads: "The family of Gary (Dr. Know) Miller and the entire Bad Brains family would like to thank everyone for their well wishes.

"We are happy to say that Dr. Know's condition is no longer considered critical. He still remains under the close care and watch of doctors at this time so please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers." Read the band's full post here.




Great White Singer Feel Guilty For Surviving Deadly Club Fire(Classic Rock)

Great White singer Jack Russell has recalled the debilitating survivor's guilt he experienced after the 2003 nightclub fire in Rhode Island that killed 100 people.
Great White's pyrotechnic display sparked the blaze at The Station club in Warwick. It raged out of control when non-approved soundproofing equipment went up in flames in the overcrowded venue.

This month, a deadly fire in a Romanian rock club resulted in the deaths of 45 people, with many more in critical condition in hospital. Russell plans to tell his story in an upcoming documentary on the 2003 blaze.

He tells 105.9 The Brew: "It's a story of my life intertwined with the story of the fire. It's really hard, but it's gonna give me a chance to apologise and say how I feel about it. I never had the chance to say, 'I'm sorry.'"

The vocalist says he experienced months of horror in the wake of the tragedy. He adds: "I was almost catatonic for three months. I couldn't stop crying. It was horrible. I'll never be over it and I don't think I ever should. I think I owe it to my fans that lost their lives to never forget them.

"It was like the 9/11 of rock'n'roll. I feel a guilt. I have this survivor's guilt, why did I get to live when so many other people didn't? I feel guilty for people coming to see me play and losing their lives." Read more here.



Lamb Of God Release 'Erase This' Video(TeamRock Radio)

Groove metal powerhouse Lamb Of God are premiering their new lyric video for the song "Erase This" exclusively with Metal Hammer. The track comes from their album VII: Storm und Drang.
"Lyrically, Erase This deals with negative people and how they can drag you down without you even necessarily realising it," says guitarist Mark Morton. "It's about people you may even be close to, but who are stuck in their own self-pity and woe-is-me, kind of victim status.

"That kind of energy can spread like a virus. Most of us as humans have been on both the giving and receiving end of that kind of attitude, but the older I get, the more I try to focus on not allowing that type of vibe to enter my mindset." Watch the video here.




Foo Fighters Beat Rush For Classic Rock Award(Classic Rock)


Foo Fighters have been named winners of the Film (Or DVD) Of The Year prize at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour. The Foos were up against Rush - R40, Cobain: Montage Of Heck, Love And Mercy, The Wrecking Crew, Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me and Joe Bonamassa - Muddy Wolf At Red Rocks.
Dave Grohl and co scooped the award - voted for by Classic Rock readers - for their Sonic Highways series which documented their recording of the album of the same name.

The album was released last year as the eight-part HBO series was being aired. The show was later broadcast in the UK on BBC Four and is available on DVD and Blu-ray.

Classic Rock editor Sian Llewellyn says: "The fans have spoken, and Sonic Highways has taken the prize for best film. Dave Grohl and the guys put together an excellent series that gave viewers a remarkable insight into the workings and history of eight great musical cities in America." Read more here.



Leslie West Streams New Song Featuring Queen's Brian May(Classic Rock)

Leslie West has released his cover of soul-blues classic Going Down, taken from forthcoming solo album Soundcheck, which is scheduled to be released on November 27th.
He invited Queen guitarist Brian May and vocalist Bonnie Bramlett to guest on his take on the Don Nix song, popularised by Freddy King and also recorded by Jeff Beck.

Mountain man West says: "I've been playing this song onstage for a long time, slow and quiet, then I build up and use the volume knob to create violin-like swells.

"I love the way my bass player Rev Jones plays it with me, so I wanted to get it on the album. I took the opportunity to play some different melodies over the chord progression." Stream the new song here.



Slayer Launching Classic Album Reissue Campaign(Classic Rock)

Four classic Slayer titles are to be re-released on vinyl on January 15. Show No Mercy (1983), Live Undead (1984), Haunting The Chapel (1984) and Hell Awaits (1985) will be issued under the Metal Blade Originals series on regular black vinyl and limited-edition colored pressings.
Each will be presented in heavyweight cardboard sleeves, and come with branded stickers, prints and poster artwork. Hell Awaits, Show No Mercy and Live Undead will also launch with a 250g insert.

All four titles are available to pre-order. Slayer released their 11th studio album Repentless this year and will return to the UK later this month for a run of dates with Anthrax. Check out the details for the reissues here.


Katatonia Working On New Studio Album(TeamRock Radio)

Katatonia have confirmed they're in the studio to work on the follow-up to 2012's Dead End Kings. The Swedish metal outfit - who this year unveiled live package Sanctitude - have hired live drummer Daniel 'Mojjo' Moilanen as a full-time member and say their next album will be released in 2016.
Vocalist Jonas Renkse says: "We first met Mojjo back in 2009 where his band at the time, Engel, had joined up with us and Paradise Lost on a UK tour and we soon realised we shared the same musical background and ideals.

"We stayed in touch over the years and when Daniel Liljekvist quit Katatonia in 2014 we decided to give Mojjo a call. He has now been with us for well over a year, so far only as a live member, but now is the time for him to join the Katatonia album cycle and most importantly - make his own impression on our new material. Mastodon's Bill Kelliher Celebrates Personal Milestone(TeamRock Radio)

Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher has gone just over a year without a drink, he's reported. He's fought back from a debilitating addiction that nearly cost him his life when his liver came close to failing.
And he's now able to face the challenges of his mother's brain tumour and other family responsibilities without relying on drink to see him through.

Kelliher tells the Democrat And Chronicle: "It's been a struggle for many years. Everyone tells me the first year is the most difficult, when you've been an alcoholic most of your life. For me it was a choice when I gave up the booze. I didn't have to be that guy who needs a depressant to cope with life."

He adds: "Being sober, I could hold it together when I saw my mom that first day, in a kind of vegetative state. My brother was losing it and I just told myself, 'I've got to stay strong.'

"She was in really rough shape - she couldn't remember anything. The tumour was removed, they seem to think they got it all. Otherwise she's a very healthy woman. I'm going to spend as much time with her as I can." Read more here.




Charlie Simpson Reunites With Busted(TeamRock Radio)

Fightstar mainman Charlie Simpson has rejoined Busted for a 13-date arena tour of the UK and Ireland. Simpson left the pop punk boyband in 2005 and vowed never to return. But at a press conference in London, Simpson joined Matt Willis and James Bourne to announce the 2016 tour, which kicks off at Wembley Arena on May 11.
Explaining his decision to rejoin the group, Simpson says: "Staying in the band at that time could have risked our friendship. I've lost count of the number of times where I've said publicly I wouldn't do this again. But I have changed my mind."

The trio also confirmed they were working on new material. Willis and Bourne are also members of McBusted - a hybrid group featuring members of Busted and McFly. It's not clear what Busted's reunion means for McBusted's future. Read more including the tour dates here.



Obscura Announce New Album Akroasis(Prog)

Obscura have confirmed their fourth album will be called Akroasis - and it's set for release on February 5. It'll be their first material since 2011's Omnivium and will be issued via Relapse Records.
Frontman Steffen Kummerer says: "With Akroasis, we produced our grand opus featuring eight songs of fluent arrangements, odd time signatures never heard before in metal, and the most high end production in the history of the band.

"Without question Akroasis is the heaviest, most complex record we have made to date. We cannot wait to perform live again and bring this excellent music to stages around the globe."

Three Days Grace Announces 2016 European Tour(TeamRock Radio)

Three Days Grace have announced an 11-date European tour. The run of shows begin in Manchester on January 13 - the first of three planned UK appearances. The Canadian outfit have scheduled the shows in support of their fifth album entitled Human, released in March this year.
Former My Darkest Days singer Matt Walst replaced longtime vocalist Adam Gontier in 2013 and appears on the band's latest record. He told TeamRock: "I think a lot the Three Days Grace fans are digging something new - I think it's gone over really well.

Devin Townsend Announces Deluxe Casualties Of Cool(Prog)

The self-titled debut album from Devin Townsend's side project Casualties Of Cool is set for a deluxe reissue. Originally released in 2014, concept album Casualties Of Cool will be re-released and bundled with a live DVD on January 15.
The DVD features a full set filmed at London's Union Chapel during the short run of shows that took place around the album's launch. Townsend worked with vocalist Ché Aimee Dorval on the country folk rock record, which was backed by a successful crowdfunding campaign.

He said: "My childhood was full of that type of music. At Christmas my grandfather would insist on the whole family sitting around singing uncomfortably along to Johnny Cash songs and Irish stuff like the Clancy Brothers. It was a big part of my childhood, it's not like I'm putting on a new hat here."

Gentle Giant Score Chart Hit With Octopus Reissue(Prog)

Gentle Giant are celebrating after their reissue of 1972 album Octopus entered the BBC Rock Chart at no. 34. The reissue is is available to purchase on CD, Blu-ray and digitally.
The band's fourth album was remixed by Steven Wilson and released in late October with bonus material and new sketches by artist Roger Dean who created the original cover art.

Singer Derek Shulman says: "Everyone in the band is delighted to hear that the music that we created in 1972 seems to be even more popular in 2015. To see Octopus in the top 40 is such a pleasant surprise.

"Steven Wilson remixed the music in 5.1 with his usual respect and care." Read more here.



Agent Fresco Release 'Howls' Music Video(Prog)

Agent Fresco have released a music video for their track Howls. It appears on the Icelandic outfit's latest album Destrier, released in August via Long Branch Records.
The video was filmed at the band's sold-out show at the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik earlier this year. Agent Fresco singer Arnor Dan Arnarson says: "Baldvin Z, the award-winning director who also directed our video for Tempo, initially called me to congratulate us on our new album and our talk led us quickly to the idea of a new collaboration.

"I knew that we had to work with the song Howls and we both thought it would be fun to try and use that triumphant sound and visually captivate the magical atmosphere before and during our sold-out concert, where Destrier was performed in its entirety by a total of 15 musicians."

He continues: "This video is meant to be a tribute to our dear friends who joined us on stage and to the audience who made this an unforgettable experience."

Hands Like Houses Postpone Winter Tour(TeamRock Radio)

Hands Like Houses have postponed their winter UK tour until next year. The Australian rockers were due to play 11 dates, starting in Leeds on November 30. But they've pulled the entire run to concentrate on completing their third album, Dissonants. Rescheduled dates will be announced in due course.
The band say: "It's with a little bit of sadness but mostly a healthy dose of cool, collected optimism, that we will be postponing our UK leg of the Dissonants world tour to the start of 2016.

"This year has been a huge lesson in patience and perseverance as we've applied the finishing strokes to our third studio album, the largest lesson of all being that it is more important to get something right than simply to get it done.

Maybeshewill Announce Farewell Tour and Final Show Details(Prog)

Maybeshewill have announced they'll play a short run of shows before splitting up after their final gig at London's Koko in April. They revealed their plans to go their separate ways in September and have outlined three more farewell performances - including a night in their home town of Leicester.
The band say in a statement: "There are a million places we wanted to go back to but there are only so many places we can squeeze in to the time available to us.

"We'll be hitting Glasgow for you guys in Scotland, and Leeds for those of you in the north. We're making our penultimate show a home town affair in Leicester for the city that set us on this path, and which has been our home and safe harbour for the duration of our existence.

Chris Cornell's Jimmy Kimmel Live Performance Goes Online(hennemusic)

Chris Cornell performed his single, "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart", on ABC-TV's Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday. The singer also offered a taste of the tune "Josephine" from his latest album, "Higher Truth."
The Kimmel appearance comes on the heels of a North American tour that saw the Soundgarden frontman launch the project with a series of acoustic-based theatre shows.

Cornell made his acting debut in the Jesse Hill-directed video for "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart", which also saw cameos by Eric Roberts (Runaway Train, Heroes, The Expendables) and W. Earl Brown (Deadwood).

Up next, the singer will begin a month-long tour of New Zealand and Australia in Christchurch, NZ on November 20.

Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe Sad, Not Mad About Gang Attack(TeamRock Radio)


Randy Blythe says he's not angry at the gang of teenagers who attacked him in Dublin at the weekend - and that he's more saddened at the experience. The Lamb Of God frontman has told how he was the victim of an assault while he walked in the Irish capital late at night, taking photos hours before his UK tour with Megadeth commenced.
He was left with some minor injuries including head pain, and lost his glasses, a hat and an e-cig during the incident. But he's aware it could have been much worse.

Blythe says: "I've hurt myself worse skateboarding, so it's nothing I can't shake off. It was regrettable, but to a great degree it was also my own fault for not paying more attention to my surroundings. I knew better, but I got distracted taking photos.

"That's why I posted about it - to remind my friends and anyone else who might be out wandering in any city, not just Dublin, to remain alert at all times.

"These things can happen very quickly if you aren't on guard. It certainly did in my case, a matter of five seconds or so. Learn from my mistake. This is the reality of today's world."

He says the incident demonstrates that "we as a society are failing children," adding: "I'm not even mad at these youths. it's more sad to me that jumping strangers is how some kids get their kicks.

"To me this indicative of a lack of proper parenting. Boys will be boys, and I'm certainly no angel. But it never once occurred to me to gather four or five friends together and go beat some random person up for entertainment. That is not how my parents raised me. It's weak, cowardly, and very, very unmanly." Read more here.



Joss Stone Temple Pilots Mashup Performances Goes Online(Radio.com)

Stone Temple Pilots were joined by soul singer Joss Stone filled for Jimmy Kimmel Live's "Mashup Mondays" series on Monday (Nov. 10) for a performance of the STP song "Interstate Love Song."
The Collaboration comes on the heels of Stone Temple Pilots' Chester Bennington announcement that he was leaving the band to focus on Linkin Park. "Interstate Love Song" was recorded with STP's original lead singer Scott Weiland for the band's 1994 album Purple.

Joss Stone and Stone Temple Pilots are the latest in Kimmel's "Mashup Mondays" series which has included Blackstreet with Aloe Blacc (Aloe Blaccstreet), Weezer and ZZ Top (Wee-Z Top), Kenny G and Warren G (Kenny & Warren G), Morris Day and The Time with Haim (Morris Day and the Haim).

AC/DC Classic Gets Unusual Makeover(Classic Rock)

AC/DC's classic track Thunderstruck has been reinterpreted - on the bagpipes. The song, which originally appeared on the Aussie giants' 1990 album The Razor's Edge, has been covered by Indian artist Archy J, aka The Snake Charmer, who's called her version Dubstruck and mixed the song with Asian tunes.
She says: "The world's first dubstep bagpipe track on a rock'n'roll song. This will definitely be something you have never heard before. No matter what music you listen to, there is something in this for everyone."

Archy J has previously covered Eluveitie's A Rose For Epona, and the theme tune for HBO TV series Game Of Thrones. Check out The Snake Charmers rendition of the classic song here.



Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson Releasing His Memoirs(hennemusic)

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson will publish his memoirs in the fall of 2017 via HarperNonFiction and Dey Street Books. The project will see Dickinson tackle his thirty years with the metal legends, his work as a pilot, an aviation entrepreneur, a novelist, radio broadcaster and motivational speaker, as well as his recent battle with cancer.
"It was flattering to be approached to write a book about my experiences," says Dickinson, "and it seems an appropriate time to do this as I will have plenty of time on tour next year to work on a book. I am sure flying the 747 out round the World on tour will add to the tale with some unusual scenarios!"

"There's no one like Bruce," says Publishing Director Jack Fogg. "Which other rock musician can fly a 747, or fence at an international level? He's a total one-off; engaging, funny, warm, self-deprecating - a British eccentric in its very best form. His book will be outstanding and I am so delighted we get to publish it and work with him." Nobody Believed In Black Sabbath At First, Including The Band(Classic Rock)

Geezer Butler has recalled the indifference that greeted Black Sabbath in their early days. As the fledgling band were trying to record their self-titled 1970 debut album, they faced repeated rejection by record companies and struggled to get anyone to pay attention. Within weeks of its eventual release, Black Sabbath was a top 10 UK album and they were catapulted to international stardom.
Bassist Butler tells Metal Hammer: "Nobody believed that we'd ever do anything. And we didn't either. We thought we might get to do an album or two if we were lucky, and then we'd have to get proper jobs.

"Because we'd been turned down by so many record companies, told to come back when we could play our instruments - all the insults you could think of, they'd say to your face. We'd do showcases for record companies and they'd walk out after the second song.

Aerosmith's Brad Whitford and Derek St. Holmes Launching Tour(hennemusic)


Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford and longtime Ted Nugent vocalist Derek St. Holmes have announced dates for a fall US tour. The reunited pair will play a 2-week run starting November 12 in Milwaukee, WI and wrapping up November 22 in New Hope, PA.
The band lineup is rounded out by bassist Chopper Anderson, Tesla drummer Troy Lucketta and keyboardist Buck Johnson. Whitford and St. Holmes - who originally teamed up to release a self-titled album in 1981 - are recording a follow-up called "Reunion", with plans to release it in 2016.

"It's a classic rock album - modern classic rock," Whitford tells Billboard. "I mean, that's what we do. We're all rockers, and we're not gonna try and do anything else but what we know and what we love.

"I think a lot of Aerosmith fans are really going to enjoy this record because all I ever hear is, 'When you gonna do another Toys In The Attic? When you gonna do another Rocks?' That's what this album is. It's very straight-ahead, stripped-down classic rock." See the tour dates here.



David Bowie's Blackstar Extended Preview Goes Online(hennemusic)

David Bowie has issued an extended preview of "Blackstar", a song he was commissioned to write as the theme for a new crime series, The Last Panthers.
The tune is the title track to a new album by Bowie, which he'll release on his 69th birthday on January 8 and a longer snippet of the track can be heard over a new trailer for the program, which is set to premiere November 12 on Sky Atlantic. Bowie hooked up with director Johan Renck to discuss the series while it was still in the early stages of production.

"I showed Mr. Bowie the two first episodes in the rough state they were at the time, and he liked what he saw very much," says Renck. "We discussed the various aspects of the show; naturally the plot line, but also the underlying currents of guilt and personality flaws.

"We talked about the dark heart of Europe. We talked about the biblical aspects of human nature. He asked if there was anything else to see, so I showed him the first concept board I had just made for the title sequence - images from the show laced with chimaeras and demons from the worlds of Bosch and Grunewald.

"That's when he said go - it all fits. Then he played me his new song Blackstar." Check out the video here.



Lamb Of God Announce North American Tour With Anthrax(Classic Rock)


Lamb Of God have announced a 19-date US tour with Anthrax as main support. Randy Blythe and co are joined by the thrash icons on the widespread trek that kicks off in Pittsburgh on January 15 next year. Two further support acts will be announced soon.
Lamb Of God - who are promoting latest album VII: Sturm Und Drang - are currently on the road with Megadeth. Dave Mustaine confirmed this week that LOG won't be on the bill for Megadeth's 2016 US dates.

Tickets for the joint tour with Anthrax go on sale on November 13 (Friday) at 10am local time. American Express Card members have access to a pre-sale from 2pm today local time.

Cobra Starship Have Broken Up Reveals Gabe Saporta


Cobra Starship frontman Gabe Saporta revealed in an online posting that he has decided to "close the book" on the band and will turn his focus to the company that he is starting with Mike Carden.
Here is Saporta's full post, "After many incredible years, I'm making the difficult decision to close the book on Cobra Starship. If you stop reading this now, I want to say thank you if you've ever supported Cobras in any way. Whether you came to our shows and bought merch, or simply listened to a track and shared it with a friend, you allowed us to live out the most incredible adventure, and I am eternally grateful for that."

"I started Cobra Starship with a fundamental desire to reconnect to music the same way I did when I first picked up a bass at 12 years old; when things were carefree, pure, and less complicated. It was almost 2007 when Cobras set out on its first tour, and just a few short years later, a groundswell of support from diehard kids all over the world catapulted us into unknown territory. To this day I am humbled by how much love our fans showed us, and by the completely unanticipated level of mainstream success we achieved. When my dad reluctantly accepted that I was dropping out of school to pursue music, he never imagined that I would have platinum records, VMA nominations, or even be able to move out of his basement (to be honest, I even had doubts about that last point). But because of you guys, we were able to achieve more than what most kids who start jamming in their parents' garage ever dream of. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler Launches Janie's Fund For Abuse Victims(hennemusic)


Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has launched Janie's Fund, a new initiative with Youth Villages to provide services to girls who have endured neglect and abuse.
Inspired by the feedback to his 1989 Aerosmith song, "Janie's Got A Gun", Tyler says the ability to raise much-needed money and awareness to address the trauma of sexual abuse in children and to expand these services to aid even more girls has been a lifelong dream of his.

"As a father and grandfather," says Tyler, "I want to focus my energy on things that really matter and leave behind something else in this crazy world along with my music. I am starting Janie's Fund to give a voice to the millions of victims who haven't had one and encourage everyone to join me on this mission."

Music Icon Allen Toussaint Dead At 77(Classic Rock)

Producer, songwriter, pianist and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Allen Toussaint has died aged 77. No cause of death has been given. He's survived by his son Clarence, known as Reginald, and daughter Alison.
The Allen Toussaint Quartet were on tour in Spain and WWL report he passed away on Monday - a day after the band played a show at Bilbao's Sala BBK.

Toussaint was born on January 14, 1938, in New Orleans and released his debut album The Wild Sound Of New Orleans in 1958. He would go on to release more than a dozen albums, with his last being 2013's Songbook and was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1998.

Aside from his playing career, he collaborated, produced and arranged songs for dozens of artists, including Aaron Neville, Paul McCartney, Joe Cocker, Glen Campbell, Irma Thomas, Ernie K-Doe, Chris Kenner, Lee Dorsey, Jessie Hill, Benny Spellman and Al Hirt. Read more here.




Max Cavalera Ordered To Pay Damages Over Book Comments(TeamRock Radio)


Soulfly and former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera has been ordered by a Brazilian court to pay thousands of dollars in damages to his former sister-in-law.
The singer has been instructed to pay Monika Bass Cavalera $13,000 (£8600) for comments made about her in his 2013 book My Bloody Roots: From Sepultura To Soulfly And Beyond.

Monika is the ex wife of Max's brother Igor, and in his book, Max called her "a bitch" and suggested she tried to hit on him before eventually hooking up with his brother.

Blabbermouth reports that a Sao Paulo court awarded Monika 50,000 Brazilian reals in damages and to cover her legal fees. Read more here.




Fearless Vampire Killers Release Feel Alive Video(TeamRock Radio)

Fearless Vampire Killers have released a video for their track Feel Alive. It features on the English outfit's recently released Bruises mini-album - their first studio work since 2014's Unbreakable Hearts.
Singer and guitarist Kier Kemp said of their latest material: "Bruises comes from the heart. It's allowed us to explore a whole new side of the band commenting on the darker side of human nature.

"It's still dark, but much more frank. Our ability as musicians and songwriters has also developed, so I think it's pretty unanimous within the band that this is our best material yet."

Armored Saint have released a video for their track An Exercise In Debauchery. It's taken from the band's seventh album Win Hands Down, released earlier this year via Metal Blade.
Frontman John Bush says: "I'm so happy with the way this video turned out. The song has a heavy subject matter and the video complements it perfectly. There's also a feeling of campiness, which makes the viewer fade in and out of being uncomfortable and having a chuckle.

"The actors did a great job and personal props to my neighbour Sharon, who let it all out as the police officer. Oh, yeah, the band looks badass as well. Debauchery indeed."

The promo was directed by Brian Cox, who adds: "This was by far the most challenging music video I have ever produced - everything from the direction of the video down to the post-production editing techniques. Nordic Giants Release 'Year Zero' Short Film(Prog)

Nordic Giants have released a short film to promote their track A Thousand Lost Dreams. The film is called Year Zero and was directed by Misha Rozema.
A Thousand Lost Dreams is taken from debut album A Seance Of Dark Delusions, released earlier this year through Kscope. Year Zero is said to deliver "a heavy hitting message of environmental and political turmoil fitting the penetrative musical collisions of Nordic Giants."

Last month, the duo released live videos for Speed The Crows Nest and Little Bird as a teaser to their upcoming seven-date UK tour, which starts in Devon on November 11. Watch it here.




Twenty One Pilots Stage Makeup A Nod To Insecurity(TeamRock Radio)


Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun says the black makeup he wears onstage is a nod to his "insecurity." Dun covers his neck and hands in the makeup while performing live with bandmate Tyler Joseph.
He tells the London Evening Standard: "Insecurity for me feels like the sensation of suffocating. So that's why I do the neck thing. The other thing I'm most insecure about is saying, 'This is what I created. This is mine. This is the best I can do.'

"So there's black on my hands to represent that. The live show is a moment where that character is realized and confronted and hopefully conquered. As the show goes on, the make-up starts to wear away." Read more here.



Manic Street Preachers Announce Everything Must Go Anniversary Show(Classic Rock)


Manic Street Preachers will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their Everything Must Go album with a one-off show next year. They'll be joined by special guests Super Furry Animals and Public Service Broadcasting.
James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore will play Swansea's Liberty Stadium on May 26 where they'll perform their fourth record in full, along with a selection of other tracks.

They released the hit singles A Design For Life, Everything Must Go, Kevin Carter and Australia from the album, which was their first studio outing following the disappearance of guitarist Richey Edwards. Read more here.




Jonathan Davis Extremely Happy Never To Play Korn's Debut Again(TeamRock Radio)

Korn frontman Jonathan Davis says he's "happy as f***" as the thought of never having to play the band's debut album live again. The nu-metal pioneers are on the road celebrating the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut. And playing it in its entirety has, at times, put the singer in a bad place mentally.
Korn have been supported by Suicide Silence on the tour and Davis took part in a BREALTV joint interview with that band's vocalist Eddie Hermida, who said he was saddened at the prospect of the trek coming to an end.

Davis says: "I'm happy as f***! I'm so motherf***in' happy I don't gotta play this f***ing album again after this tour. I'm gonna be straight up honest, I don't like playing that f***ing record. It's dark, it f***s with my head. I've got into some worse depression on this tour. It's some sh*t that needs to go to bed.

Crown The Empire Part Ways With Guitarist Bennett Vogelman(TeamRock Radio)

Crown The Empire have confirmed they've split with guitarist Bennett Vogelman and say they will continue as a five-piece. The Texas metalcore outfit confirmed Vogelman's departure in a Facebook post, which reads: "Crown will remain a five-piece. Don't worry, we aren't going anywhere. We're just getting started."
In a statement on his blog, Vogelman insists there is no bad blood and that "personal growth" meant he was heading down "a different path." He adds: "Coming of age as a part of CTE provided an education I could never have imagine in school - living the dream playing music with my best friends.

"The guys in CTE are family. We spent four years fighting to make our dreams come true. Those guys played a big part in shaping who I am today. I'm extremely grateful for all I learned from them, and all we went through together." Read more here.

Queen and Adam Lambert will headline next year's Isle Of Wight Festival. Their set on Sunday, June 12, will be Queen's only UK performance of 2016. Former American Idol contestant Lambert has been performing with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor since 2012, filling in for the late Freddie Mercury.
May says: "I think Queen at The Isle Of Wight Festival is a date that was long overdue. How incredible to take on this challenge at this point in our lives. With an injection of new blood in the shape of the incredible Adam Lambert, Queen will be ready to tear it up on this legendary stage in 2016. Freddie would have loved it."

Queensryche's Silent Lucidity Gets Harp Twins Tribute(Classic Rock)

Queensryche classic Silent Lucidity is the latest track to be covered by Harp twins Camille and Kennerly Kitt. The track is available to purchase via iTunes and Amazon.
The song originally appeared on the US outfit's 1990 album, Empire - and the band have given the classical version the thumbs up, saying the sisters performed the song "beautifully" on their Facebook Page.

Nightwish Added To Download Festival Lineup(TeamRock Radio)

Nightwish have been added to the bill for next year's Download festival. Tuomas Holopainen and co will appear at Donington on Sunday, June 12, as main stage sub-headliners to event closers Iron Maiden.
Organizers Live Nation say: "Symphonic metal doesn't get better than Nightwish, who will unleash their operatic duets and shredding guitars on the final day. 2016 is set to be an unstoppable monster."

A total of nine acts have been confirmed so far, under Maiden's fellow headliners Black Sabbath and Rammstein. This will be Nightwish's third appearance at the annual event.

Stone Temple Pilots Confirm Split With Chester Bennington

After word spread that Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington had left Stone Temple Pilots, the band confirmed that amicable parting of ways in a statement on Sunday night.
The news of the departure first came to light from the band's original singer Scott Weiland who told Alternative Nation, "He's not in the band anymore" and soon after Highly Suspect singer Johnny Stevens tweeted that he was approached by Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo to join the group.

Bennington released the following statement about his departure, "The last few years have been an amazing experience. I got to create and perform with one of the greatest rock bands of our generation, that had so much influence on me growing up.

"With the amount of time STP deserves, in addition to being in Linkin Park, and with the needs of my family, one of them always seems to fall short. Going in to this, the four of us... Robert, Eric, Dean and myself knew what we were up against.

"We decided in due fairness to friends, fans and the legacy of STP that it needs more than time was allowing me. And in all fairness to my bandmates in Linkin Park, as well as to myself and to my family, I'm going to focus solely on Linkin Park so I can contribute 100%. It's been an amazing experience and a dream come true, and I look forward to the future of both STP and Linkin Park."

The band had the following to say, "What an amazing and beautiful few years we've all had together. It was our honor to play and see all of you recently on tour. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time together with Chester not only professionally, but even more so on a personal level.

"Sadly, it was evident that scheduling and time was working against us. Within this, there is a new beginning. There is an abundance of new music written, some of which is already recorded. We have had the fortune of playing with some very talented singers over the last few months and will continue to do so until each of us feels and knows when the right person arrives."

Scott Weiland Has 'Heard' Guns N' Roses Are Reuniting

Former Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland says that he heard that his former bandmates will be reuniting with Axl Rose in Guns N' Roses and also says that he believes Slash's former wife "kind of put the kibosh" on a Velvet Revolver reunion.
Rumors of a reunion of the original lineup, or the Use Your Illusions era, of Guns N' Roses have surfaced after Slash revealed that he and Axl Rose had settled their longtime feud.

Weiland was interviewed by Alternative Nation and was asked about his own feud with Rose and he responded, "There was a little going back and forth between the two of us at the time, but I think that Guns N' Roses are getting back together."

The site says they then pressed him on that response and he said, "I just heard that." Tommy Black, the bass player for Weiland's band The Wildabouts, added "we've heard rumors."

One reunion involved those same Guns N' Roses members that didn't come to fruition was with Weiland and Velvet Revolver. They did perform together again at a charity event in 2012 and discussed regrouping but it didn't happen.

Weiland shared his view of what prevented the reunion, "We did a show together, and there was talk about us getting back together, but Perla, Slash's ex-wife, kind of put the kibosh on everything … As far as getting back together, I thought at the time we would get back together and do a tour."

Ritchie Blackmore Reveals Members Of New Rainbow(Classic Rock)

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow lineup for his upcoming rock shows has been revealed. The guitar icon will hit the road with his new version of Rainbow for two German Monsters Of Rock festivals in June, and an appearance at Birmingham's Genting Arena the same month.
The lineup will consist of Blackmore, Lords Of Black singer Ronnie Romero, Stratovarius keyboardist Jens Johansson, Blackmore's Night drummer David Keith and bassist Bob Nouveau.

They'll play music from Rainbow and Deep Purple's back catalogue at the shows. Blackmore recently said his chosen vocalist was "a cross between Dio and Freddie Mercury." Read more here.



Paul Stanley Of KISS Addresses Gay Rumors(Classic Rock)

KISS frontman Paul Stanley has described long-standing rumours that he's gay as the "oddest" thing that's ever said about him. And he asserts that, if he was, he'd be proud of the fact.
Whispers have circulated for years that the iconic musician and father of four has kept his true sexuality a secret. But Stanley tells The Breeze: "As long as you're a good person, sexual orientation and stuff like that is totally irrelevant. That being said, I never saw a guy where I said, 'Gee, that's a close second to a woman.'

"I never looked and said, 'If I can't have that girl over there, I'm taking the bloke.' It's always persisted over time that I'm gay. If I were, I'd be proud to be whatever I am."

He adds: "That's always been really interesting, that some people can't take my comfort with sexuality, misreading it as something it's not. I scratch my head at that." Read more here.



Metallica's New Album Will 'Most Likely' Come In 2016

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett says in a new radio interview that the band's new studio album, the follow up to 2008's "Death Magnetic," will "most likely" be released next year.
Hammett told Buffalo, NY radio station 103.3 The Edge WEDG-FM, "Well, you know, we're moving forward. We're hoping that the album will be released next year. It's pretty much more along the same lines as 'Death Magnetic' - kind of like that direction. And, you know, we'll see.

"We're into it. I don't wanna say that we're a third into it, or two-thirds into it, or an eighth into it, 'cause anything could happen that'll just change that number.

"But, eventually, you will see a new Metallica album, and it will most likely be in 2016, and at the very worst, at the beginning of 2017." Listen to the full interview here.



Daniel Svensson Announces Departure From In Flames

Daniel Svensson revealed in an online post that he has left In Flames to spend more time with his family. Svensson took over as drummer in the group back in 1998.
Here is what Svensson had to say, "Time to turn the page... I have decided to close my chapter in In Flames after finishing up this current tour.It has truly been a fantastic journey and I want to thank Anders, Björn, Peter, Jesper and Niclas from the bottom of my heart, for all great memories and experiences that we've shared during the last 17 years(!) together.

"It's hard to leave what have become my second family, but now it's time for me to take care and spend more time with the most important people in my life - my wife and my three daughters.

Third Member Of Goodbye To Gravity Dies From Club Fire(Classic Rock)

The death toll in the Colectiv club fire in Bucharest has reached 45 after Goodbye To Gravity drummer Bogdan Enache passed away on Sunday. He was the third member of the Romanian band to die, after their pyro display caused a blaze in which over 160 others were injured on October 30.
Enache's heart failed while he was being transported to Switzerland for burn treatment. Medical crew spent 70 minutes in attempts to keep him alive. Guitarists Vlad Telea and Mihai Alexandru both died in the club, while vocalist Andrei Galut remains in a serious condition in a Netherlands hospital, and bassist Alex Pascu is recovering from surgery in Romania. 95 others remain in medical establishments across Europe.

Teenage Bottlerocket's Brandon Carlisle Being Taken Off Life Support(TeamRock Radio)

Teenage Bottlerocket drummer Brandon Carlisle is to have his life support removed, his band have confirmed. His bandmate and brother Ray Carlisle reported last week that the sticksman had been found unresponsive at home and was subsequently rushed to hospital.
He'd been in a coma for several days but the decision has been made to switch off his life support after scans showed no vital signs. The band say in a statement: "It is with the heaviest hearts that we have to report our beloved drummer Brandon didn't make it.

"Doctors did everything they could to save him, but the MRI showed he is no longer with us. His family and loved ones are with him as they prepare to take him off life support and let him gently move on."

"Brandon lived his life with his whole heart. He loved music, and he loved people. He always made it a point to let everyone know how much they meant to him, and to take time to make new friends. Anyone who was lucky enough to spend even a minute with the guy knows what a blessing he was to this Earth." Read more here.




Carlos Santana's Longtime Percussionist Raul Rekow Dead At 61(The Blues)


Carlos Santana's longtime percussionist Raul Rekow has died, it's been announced. He made his debut on Santana's 1977 album Festival and went on to play on 15 other studio recordings, including Marathon, Beyond Appearances, Supernatural and last year's Corazon.
Santana said in a statement: "We mourn the loss of my brother Raul Rekow. He was an integral member of Santana for 34 years and the heartbeat of the band.

"His presence on the stage was one of power, grace, collaboration and joy. He redefined what it means to be a conga player. My heart goes out to his family.

Phil Collins Would Love To Stage Genesis Reunion(Classic Rock)

Phil Collins says that he would love to stage a reunion with Genesis - but thinks it would have to be with the lineup he fronted, rather than bringing back Peter Gabriel.
The singer and drummer last month confirmed he'd come out of retirement after rethinking his life and receiving treatment for the physical issues that had hounded him.

He reported that he only needed to practice if he wanted to play drums again - but his latest comments suggest it might not be so straightfoward. Collins tells the Telegraph: "I'd love to do it, but it puts a bit of a kibosh on it if I can't play the drums. There's no reason why the three of us can't get back together, though. We still get along - always have done.

"The voice is alright, that's the main thing. Considering a lot of people don't even know I play drums, I could get away with it. It would piss me off, because it's the reason I started doing this in the in the first place - but I'm not sure anyone else would care." Read more here.

Good Charlotte have released a lyric video for their track Makeshift Love. It marks the first material from Joel Madden, Benji Madden, Billy Martin, Paul Thomas and Dean Butterworth since 2010, when they launched their fifth album Cardiology.
The track is available to purchase via iTunes and stream via Apple Music and has been launched to coincide with their upcoming show at the Troubadour, Los Angeles on November 19.

Last year, the Madden brothers released Greetings From California. W.A.S.P. Streaming Title Track To New Album Golgotha(Classic Rock) W.A.S.P. have released an online stream for the song "Golgotha" which is the title track of the band's brand new 15th studio album, the follow-up to 2009's Babylon.
"Golgotha is Hebrew for place of the skull," says frontman Blackie Lawless, "and it's the hill where Christ was crucified. And it's interesting, when you see a lot of bands going around using Satanic images or images of death and things like that, and I'm thinking, all they need to do is look at the source, 'cause it's right there.

Metal Allegiance Stream New Song Featuring Cristina Scabbia (Classic Rock)


Metal Allegiance have released a lyric video for their track, Scars. It features Lacuna Coil frontwoman Cristina Scabbia and Death Angel singer Mark Osegueda.
It's the latest track lifted from the metal collective's debut album, which was released in September featuring core members David Ellefson, Alex Skolnick and Mike Portnoy.

Skolnick tells Billboard: "The lyrics are a lament on modern times, with the male voice representing an honest person at their wit's end, scarred by all the falseness and deception he's encountered in life, and dismayed at the negative impact of human behaviour on a global scale. He's balanced by the female voice. She appears as a soothing angelic presence, offering hope and a reminder to stay strong."

Scabbia adds: "The love we all have for music and what we do for a living, added to the fact that we cherish our friendship, created an even bigger explosive factor that will blow your minds." Check out the song here.


Queen and Adam Lambert To Rock Next Year's Sweden Rock Festival(SRF)

Sweden Rock Festival has announced that Queen + Adam Lambert will be performing at next year's festival which will be taking place on Thursday, June 9th.
The festival will mark the group's first performance in Sweden in over 11 years. The festival organizers sent over the following details: It has been more than 10 years since Queen last visited Sweden, playing a sold out show at the Stockholm Globe Arena. Still, they have remained in the public eye and perhaps even built on their popularity since then.

Their musical "We Will Rock You" enjoyed tremendous success in Stockholm in 2010, Queen's music is continuously played on radio and television and just this past spring a Queen tribute show toured Sweden, selling thousands of tickets for each performance date.

This coming summer, Queen's Swedish fans finally have a chance to hear and see Her Majesty in the flesh again! "This is definitely one of the largest bookings in the history of our festival," says Martin Forssman, Promotor at Sweden Rock Festival.

"For a band of this magnitude, that haven't been to Sweden in so long, to do their only concert on Sweden Rock Festival, feels fantastic. They will bring a large production, and play all of their famous songs, so it's really rigged to become a magical evening."

The Cult Streaming New Song 'Dark Energy'(hennemusic)

The Cult have released a stream of the song "Dark Energy" which is the lead single from their forthcoming album, "Hidden City." The album is the group's first to feature new bassist Grant Fitzpatrick.
Produced by Bob Rock and due February 5, the band's 10th studio album is the third and final installment in a trilogy of recordings that began with 2007's "Born Into This" and 2012's "Choice Of Weapon."

"Hidden City is a metaphor for our spiritual lives, our intimate interior lives," says frontman Ian Astbury. Megadeth, Motorhead, Disturbed Lead Download Additions(Classic Rock)

Korn, Megadeth, Motorhead, Deftones, Disturbed and Nightwish have been added to the bill for Download 2016. They'll join headliners Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Rammstein at the festival, which will take place at Donington Park on the weekend of June 10-12, 2016.
Friday, June 10 will see Korn and Motorhead take to the stage, while Saturday's bill features Megadeth and Deftones. Disturbed and Nightwish have been confirmed for the Sunday.

Speaking about the headline acts, festival organizer Andy Copping said: "The mighty Iron Maiden back after another yet another no.1 album, the legendary Black Sabbath on their final tour and Rammstein, who blow me away every time I see them. Vinnie Moore Reveals Unusual Approach To Recording With UFO(Classic Rock)


UFO guitarist Vinnie Moore says recording away from the band helps control his "schizophrenic personality." He released his eighth solo album entitled Aerial Visions in October via Mind's Eye Music.
And he reports he finds it easier writing and recording his own material as he finds the process "therapeutic." Moore tells The Rocktologist: "UFO is a rock band so when I write songs for that, it stylistically falls within a more defined range. Because my solo stuff is instrumental, things are more open and there are less rules so I can just explore and follow the inspiration wherever it leads."

He continues: "I am all over the place so this format is perfect for me. It's therapeutic for my schizophrenic personality, frequent mood changes, and problems staying focused with one task. I enjoy both musical realms, though." Read more here.




Therapy? Expand Infernal Love Tour(Classic Rock)

Therapy? have added 11 shows to their Infernal Love tour. The trio had previously announced December gigs in Dublin, Belfast and London where they'll perform their 1995 album in full.
Now Andy Cairns, Michael McKeegan and Neil Cooper have revealed an extra run of dates across the UK early next year. Cairns says: "After 20 years we'll be revisiting our dark follow up to Troublegum, 1995's Infernal Love. We played the album in its entirety at Sonisphere 2014 and were knocked out by the reception it got.

'These songs, inspired by past sins, written under pressure and recorded under the influence, will be brought out for another moment in the sun alongside other tracks recorded for singles in the same era.

Next To None Announce U.S. Winter Tour(Prog)

Next To None - the band featuring Mike Portnoy's son Max on drums - have announced a run of extra dates across the US this winter in support of their debut album A Light In The Dark.
The group just concluded a small tour leg across North America with a concert at Allentown's Chicago Restaurant, Pennsylvania on Sunday night, (November 8).

But they'll head out on the road again starting next month for more shows, including an appearance on New Year's Eve with Portnoy Sr's Metal Allegiance project. See the dates here.




Crown The Empire Release 'Cross Our Bones' Video(TeamRock Radio)


Crown The Empire have released a video for their track Cross Our Bones. It appears on the deluxe edition of their second album, The Resistance which was issued at the end of October via Rise Records.
The new deluxe edition version of their 2014 release features four extra tracks, including a re-worked version of Machines and an acoustic take on Millennia.

Andy Leo, David Escamilla, Brandon Hoover, Hayden Tree and Brent Taddie recently wrapped up a North American tour with Hollywood Undead and I Prevail. They'll play The Bomb Factory in Dallas on December 27. Watch the video here.




Devin Townsend Releases 'Deadhead' Video From Ziltoid DVD(Prog)

Devin Townsend has released his performance of Deadhead from his Ziltoid Live At The Royal Albert Hall which is set to be released on November 13 via InsideOut.
It was filmed at London's Royal Albert Hall in April, featuring a cast of 12 actors and singers, narration from Bill Courage and guest stars Jean Savole, Chris Jericho and Dominique Lenore Persi.

Townsend recently said: "The whole thing was quite a challenge - but ultimately it worked and we were all very satisfied with it. If you enjoy what I do, you'll really dig it." Watch the video here.




Night Demon Release Heavy Metal Heat Video Ahead Of Holy Grail Tour


Night Demon have released a music video for their single "Heavy Metal Heat" and announced a string of tour dates in various markets in the U.S. next month with Holy Grail.
The band has been busy on the road supporting their debut album "Curse of the Damned" and played a special hometown show in Los Angeles on Saturday with Kyng. The new single "Heavy Metal Heat" video is now streaming at YouTube here.

The band had the following to say about the upcoming tour dates and new video, "What an amazing year it has been so far for Night Demon! Since the beginning of 2015, we have been on a mission to spread the gospel of metal. Travis Barker Offered Friends A Million Dollars To End His Life(Radio.com)

Blink-182's Travis Barker admits in a recent interview that following his 2008 plane crash, where he suffered second and third degree burns, he was in so much agony that he offered friends a million dollars to end his life.
The crash happened on a flight from South Carolina to California. Although the 39-year-old was in the hospital for four months and had to endure 27 surgeries, he was one of the lucky ones.

The crash claimed the lives of four passengers, including Barker's assistant Chris Barker, two members of his crew, and a security team member. DJ AM also survived the plane crash, but died in 2010 from an accidental drug overdose.

The Blink-182 drummer tells ABC, "I mean, [medical officials] had to take my phone out of my room because I was making these phone calls. I would call friends of mine and go, 'You know, I'll deposit a million dollars into whoever's bank account. Like, I'm done." Read more here.



Ozzy Was Feared Kidnapped Following Binge With David Lee Roth

Author Greg Renoff reveals in a new interview that police once feared that Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne had been kidnapped after he disappeared following a drug binge with Van Halen's David Lee Roth.
Renoff discussed the story while speaking to the Boston Herald about his new book on the early years of Roth's band, "Van Halen Rising: How a Southern California Backyard Party Band Saved Heavy Metal".

When asked for one of his favorite stories of decadence that he discovered while writing the book, Renoff responded, "I didn't discover the story, but I was able to really flesh out all of the details about the notorious Birmingham, Alabama 'Krell [Cocaine] War' between Ozzy and [Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth].

"In November 1978 in Birmingham hotel room, they both snorted enough coke to kill an elephant. After a bus ride to Nashville, Ozzy passed out for 24 hours in the wrong hotel room and in effect was missing.

"The police thought he'd been kidnapped. Let's face it, any story involving Ozzy, DLR, and drugs is going to be a fun one to tell." Read more of the interview here.



Queen Announce Special Record Store Day Release

Queen has announced that for this year's Record Store Day they will be using the special occasion to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their landmark track "Bohemian Rhapsody."
The special release on November 27th will feature the song released as a 12 inch limited edition vinyl that will include the original B-side "I'm In Love With My Car".

The legendary band received the Classic Song Award at the Q Awards earlier this week in London for the song, which celebrates its official 40th anniversary on Halloween, marking its original release on October 31, 1975.

A week prior to Record Store Day, the band will be releasing a special live package from that era. "Queen, A Night At The Odeon, Live At Hammersmith '75" is set to be released in CD, 2 LP vinyl and Super Deluxe Box Set formats as well as on DVD, SD Blu-Ray.

The show was captured during the final stop of the Queen Invite You To A Night At The Opera UK tour, which was the first tour to feature the band performing "Bohemian Rhapsody." here.



Iron Maiden Add More Dates To Book Of Souls World Tour(hennemusic)

Iron Maiden have announced a series of select European dates as part of their 2016 world tour in support of their chart topping new double album "The Book Of Souls."
The band revealed that they will headline the Rock In Vienna Festival in Austria, which takes place between June 3-5 and will also headline the Sonisphere Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland on Friday June 3rd.

Iron Maiden have also unveiled two additional headlining shows, including the Telenor Arena in Osolo Norway on June 15 and the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, Denmark on June 21 with The Raven Age and special guests Ghost. Read more here.




All Shall Perish Making New Music With Eddie Hermida(TeamRock Radio)

All Shall Perish have fought their way back from legal difficulties and they'll record a new album with Eddie Hermida, they've confirmed. He bowed out in 2013 when he took over from the late Mitch Lucker in Suicide Silence. But he's now set to work with both bands in the future.
All Shall Perish also features co-founders Matt Kukendall, Ben Orum and Caysen Russo, plus Chris Storey - but bassist Mike Tiner will not return as a result of the courtroom dramas.

A statement says: "The deathcore titans, hailed by fellow Bay Area dwellers like Kirk Hammett and Robb Flynn, are making new music. Hermida will continue in his role as full-time vocalist for Suicide Silence. Original vocalist Craig Betit also plans to contribute." Read more here.

Heaven's Baseman Part Ways With Frontman Aaron Buchanan(Classic Rock)

Heaven's Baseman have split with frontman Aaron Buchanan, and they've brought in We Are Harlot's Danny Worsnip as a stand-in for their upcoming shows.
The band report that the lineup change is amicable, and Worsnop's temporary position gives them time to recruit the perfect full-time replacement.

Buchanan joined the band in 2011 after the departure of Richie Hevanz, and appeared on 2012 debut album Filthy Empire. Heaven's Basement say: "We've all had a fantastic few years but we simply feel that our time together has run its course.

"We'll be looking for a new singer to move forward with and are excited for this new era. We can't wait to bring to life all of the new music that we have written and to get back onstage for you as soon as possible." Read more here.



Metallica's Robert Trujillo Reveals Jaco Soundtrack Details(Classic Rock)

Metallica's Robert Trujillo has revealed details of the soundtrack album for his Jaco Pastorius film. Trujillo is the producer for the documentary Jaco, to be released on November 27 after a successful crowdfunding campaign. The album Jaco: Original Soundtrack will be issued on the same day via Legacy Recordings.
The 16-song collection features three new recordings, including a version of Pastorius classic Come On Come Over by supergroup Mass Mental, featuring Trujillo, Flea, Skindred's Benji Webbe and Ugly Kid Joe's Whit Crane.

The soundtrack was produced by Trujillo and Pastorius' son John. As well as Jaco solo tracks, it includes Weather Report classics and collaborations with Joni Mitchell, Ian Hunter, Herbie Hancock and more.

Pastorius is widely regarded as one of the most influential and talented electric bass players of all time. He died in 1987 at the age of 35 following a fight in a Florida club. Jaco will be available via VOD services, digital download and on DVD/Blu-ray. Check out the tracklisting here.




Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi Receives Gibson Les Paul Award(Gibson)

On Monday (Oct. 19), Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi was presented with the prestigious Gibson Les Paul Award at the 2015 Q Awards ceremony in London. The honor, bestowed in recognition of Iommi's outstanding contribution to music and pop culture, coincides with the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Les Paul.
"Many thanks to Q Magazine and to Gibson," commented Iommi. "I have a long history with the guitar-maker." To commemorate the event, Gibson compiled some thoughts about why Iommi is so deserving of this special honor.

He invented a new genre of music: Sure, the phrase "heavy metal" had been invoked before (check out the lyrics to "Born to Be Wild"), but it was Iommi's minor pentatonic riffs, combined with "doom-and-gloom" imagery, that truly gave birth to the genre. "Every time I'm questioned about this, it's been confusing for me," Iommi told Gibson.com, in 2008. "It's just something that came out of me that was totally different because it was like doomy and the riffs were a bit frightening. And you know, it was something that I felt. It's really a mystical thing."

He's met-and conquered-adversity: Dating back to when he severed the tips of two fretting fingers, in a pre-Black Sabbath accident, Iommi has always persevered in the face of potential setbacks. Early on, in 1974, he explained how he adapted in the wake of the injury, with the help of thimbles as prosthetics. "I had to start all over again, which was kind of a drag," he said. "It involved a lot of determination and a lot of hard work and practice. I had to adopt a totally different way of playing. I mean, it's much easier when the flesh is there as it should be. Instead of, say, pulling a note, I have to sort of push it up to get a vibrato."

He's a riff maestro: From "Iron Man" to "Paranoid," from "War Pigs" to "Children of the Grave," Black Sabbath's songs have been powered primarily by riffs that, today, are etched into the fabric of classic metal. With characteristic humility, Iommi tends to downplay that singular gift. "[Drummer] Bill Ward may have played something and I just reacted to it," he told Gibson.com, explaining the origins of the riff for "Iron Man." "But I'm not sure, I really don't know. Without Bill and Ozzy that song would have never happened. I think it came at rehearsal. It was one of those occasions where I said, 'I've got a riff, I'll come up with something.' Then I just built it, worked on it from that. A lot of that stuff came fairly quickly; it just sort of happened."

His influence is pervasive: The likes of Judas Priest, Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer-even Nirvana-would be unthinkable were it not for the pioneering impact of Iommi's work. Mastodon's Brent Hinds spoke for many when he wrote these words for Rolling Stone: "I remember the first time I heard Black Sabbath. My older brother got their album, Master of Reality, from a kid who lived next door. The music just struck me like lightning. Tony is a metal pioneer, but there's a real finesse to his playing; it's not all that fast. His phrasing has such a classic vibe, and I draw a lot of inspiration from Tony's trilling. I truly enter the Iommi-sphere every time I put a guitar on."

He's always taken the high road: Rock and rollers tend to be notorious back-biters. But … sift through the voluminous interviews Iommi has done through the years, and you'll be hard-pressed to find unkind words about anyone, including bandmates, former bandmates and peers. In 2008, Guitar World asked Iommi to recall his initial reaction to Ozzy Osbourne's first solo album, Blizzard of Oz. "It was good," he said. "I loved Randy [Rhoad's] playing. I didn't rush out right away to buy Ozzy's album because I was into what we were doing at the time. But I was pleased for Ozzy. It was the spark that got him going, and it was exactly what he needed." Later, in 2013, Iommi was asked about drummer Bill Ward's refusal to rejoin the band, purportedly over money issues. The Rolling Stones Release 'Mixed Emotions' Live Video(hennemusic)


The Rolling Stones have released a video of their performance of "Mixed Emotions" as a preview to the forthcoming release, "From the Vault: Live at the Tokyo Dome 1990," which will be released as a 3-DVD and Blu-ray set, as well as a 4-LP+DVD package on November 13th.
The US Top 10 lead single from "Steel Wheels" introduced the 1989 album, which peaked at No. 3 on the US Billboard 200 and went on to sell more than 2 million copies in the States alone.

Due October 30 on DVD and Blu-ray with a new mixby Bob Clearmountain, the new live package captures the band during the first series of concerts they ever played in Japan.

"Mixed Emotions" is the second preview from the set following the group's cover of the 1963 Bob & Earl track "The Harlem Shuffle." Check out the new video here.




Bruce Springsteen Goes Behind The Scenes Of The River Box Set(hennemusic)

Bruce Springsteen has released a behind the scenes preview video of his forthcoming 7-disc box set, "The Ties That Bind: The River Collection." Due December 4, the project present material recorded for his 1980 double-album, "The River", which delivered the New Jersey rocker his first No. 1 US album on the Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 5 million copies in the States alone.
"We recorded and recorded and recorded and recorded," says Springsteen. "We were in the studio day after day after day, you know. I probably worked the hardest on some of things that ended up as outtakes…you never knew, I never knew. I didn't know where it was going."

The 4CD/3DVD package offers the original double album alongside "The Ties That Bind" - a 10-track album that Springsteen recorded in 1979 as a follow up to 1978's "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" but never released.

The set also includes 22 outtakes from the studio sessions alongside an hour-long documentary/interview with Springsteen and a legendary 1980 concert filmed at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ.

The package adds a hardcover 148-page coffee table book containing 200 studio and live photographs plus memorabilia documenting the album and the era. Watch the video here.




Tremonti Leave The Door Open For Van Halen Return(Classic Rock)


Mark Tremonti says the door remains open for bassist Wolfgang Van Halen to hook up with Tremonti now that Van Halen's tour has come to an end. Wolfgang - the son of Eddie - played bass on Tremonti's second album Cauterize, but had to sit out the tour as Van Halen were on the road on a North American jaunt.
Tremonti - the solo project of Creed and Alter Bridge guitarist Mark - hired Tanner Keegan to fill in, but would welcome Wolfgang back with open arms just as soon as he's ready.

Mark Tremonti tells Robb's Metalworks: "It's totally up to him. I think they just finished the Van Halen tour last week, and he's working on an album of his own.

"That will probably take precedence over this while he's doing that, but I'm sure when he's not doing that and whenever he wants to throw with us, he's got that opportunity. He's probably in my same situation. I've got Alter Bridge and Tremonti. Now he's gonna have that band and this band, so whenever the schedules match up, we'll be touring. But Tanner Keegan's out with us, and he's been killing it. The fans love him." Read more here.




Rammstein Join Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath As Download Headliners(Classic Rock)

Rammstein have been confirmed as the Friday Main Stage headliners for next year's Download festival. The German metal icons take top billing at Donington on June 10. They're the third and final Main Stage headline act to be announced, after Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath.
Festival organizer Andy Copping says: "I cannot wait for this year- three of the biggest names in rock are heading to Donington. Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath have legacies to rival Download festival and its rich rock heritage, it's a match made in rock heaven.

Leslie West Streaming His Take On 'People Get Ready'(Classic Rock) Leslie West has released his version of Curtis Mayfield classic People Get Ready with The Blues, which is featured on the Mountain man's album Soundcheck, to be launched on November 20 via Mascot Label Group.
West recently explained the album title by saying: "I used to hate soundchecks. With my partner Felix Pappalardi, if we did a soundcheck we'd have to do half a show.

"One of his, one of mine... and we both sang. I like doing soundchecks now, because he's not around to bust my balls." The record features guest appearances from Brian May, Peter Frampton and the late Jack Bruce. Check out the new song here.




Devil You Know Release Uncensored 'The Way We Die' Video(TeamRock Radio)

Devil You Know have released the uncensored version of their video for The Way We Die. It can be seen via adult site Burning Angel and comes complete with an adults-only warning.
The track appears on second album They Bleed Red, to be launched on November 6. When the original cut was released, drummer John Sankey said:

"We had no interest in doing another performance video with us jamming out. This was all about us having fun, getting crazy, living the dream and sharing it with the world to enjoy."

Gary Holt Reveals His Most Important Contribution To Slayer(Classic Rock)


Gary Holt believes he's been a unifying force in Slayer - and it's one of the most important things he's brought to the band. The Exodus guitarist has been working with Kerry King and Tom Araya since the late Jeff Hanneman stepped back in 2011, and appears on the thrash icons' latest album Repentless, alongside drummer Paul Bostaph.
The two remaining original members haven't always had the closest of relationships - with frontman Araya admitting earlier this year that he and King often didn't communicate in the past.

Holt tells The Jasta Show: "People have asked me, 'What do you think is the most important thing you brought to Slayer?' It sounds like a really hippie way to say it - I'd say it's unity.

"I'm really close to everybody in the band. I maybe have been a bridge in keeping everybody smiling. I'm always in a good mood. I'm a hard guy to piss off."

He adds: "We have our times when I hang out with Kerry at night. I hang out with Tom and Paul at different times. But everybody's happy - everybody's enjoying it." Read more here.





Escape The Fate Release 'Alive' Video(TeamRock Radio)


Escape The Fate have released a video for their song Alive, which is a track that comes from upcoming fifth album Hate Me, due on October 30 via Eleven Seven Music.
Frontman Craig Mabbitt says of the album: "It has been a real team effort this time around. We've all worked on lyrics, all contributed to the songwriting process.

"We're the most unified as a team I think we've ever been, certainly in my history in the band. I actually wish we hadn't done a self-titled album already because I think this is our most definitive statement yet." Watch the video here.




Lenny Kravitz Releases Live Video For 'The Chamber'(hennemusic)


Lenny Kravitz is released a video of his performance of the 2014 single, "The Chamber", as a preview to the October 23 DVD, Blu-ray and digital release of his live concert film, "Just Let Go."
The tune was the lead single from his tenth album, "Strut", which peaked at No. 19 on the US Billboard 200 but failed to achieve Gold status in the country.

"The Chamber" follows the preview of his 1993 smash, "Are You Gonna Go My Way", from "Just Let Go", which was filmed over three months in late 2014 during the European leg of the singer's world tour in support of the project.

"The film takes a deeper look into what it's like to be on tour," says Kravitz, "and also gives an intimate perspective into my life with my band, both on and off the stage." Watch the video here.

The Temperance Movement have released an online preview stream for their forthcoming second album White Bear, which is scheduled to be released on January 16 via Earache.
The new online video preview includes clips from all 10 tracks on the follow-up to their self-titled 2012 debut, plus iTunes bonus song Time Won't Leave.

Mostly Autumn Release Acoustic EP(Prog)

Mostly Autumn have released a new acoustic EP entitled Mostly Autumn Acoustic: The Genesis Revisited Tour 2014 which was recorded live on their support tour with Steve Hackett.
Bryan Josh and Olivia Sparnenn-Josh performed under the name Mostly Autumn Acoustic for a run of shows in 2014, and they describe the experience as "a very exciting journey with one of our heroes."

Butcher Babies Show Their Goofy Side With 'Igniter' Video(TeamRock Radio)

Butcher Babies have released a video for their track Igniter. The song is taken from second album Take It Like A Man which was issued in August via Century Media Records. The promo features footage shot during the band's performances at Download, the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards show and onboard HMS Hammer this year.
Singer Carla Harvey says Igniter is about "the anger and frustration that we can let consume and even destroy us at times." She adds: "When we first started Butcher Babies, I was in a much darker place and often let that rage overtake me, but after six years of having a healthy outlet for those feelings through our music, I'm a completely different person.

"I love that the video for Igniter, shot while we toured the UK this summer, shows a juxtaposition of on stage rage and our off stage fun personalities. It speaks volumes to the release that music provides not only for the listener, but the creators."

Fellow vocalist Heidi Shepherd adds that the clip shows the band's "goofy, off-stage personalities." Watch the video here.



Mythra Reveals Details For Limited-Edition Anthology(Classic Rock)

Mythra have revealed the tracklist and artwork for their upcoming limited-edition anthology. The NWOBHM outfit will launch Warriors Of Time on November 30 via Skol Records. It features the classic tracks they recorded between 1979 and the early 80s, plus five new numbers written after they announced their comeback this year.
Vocalist Vince High previously told TeamRock they wanted to set the record straight with the authorised collection. He said: "This is important for several reasons - not least of which is the fact that the CD release in 1998 was done without any input from the band whatsoever.

"The company concerned even got some of the song titles wrong. We didn't know it had been released until after it came out. It's now long out of print and fans are having to pay silly money on the net." Read more including the tracklisting here.




Operation: Mindcrime Add UK Dates To Winter Tour(Classic Rock)

Operation: Mindcrime have added four English dates to their winter European tour. Geoff Tate's band previously announced a 22-date trip around the continent, and they've now added December shows in Stourbridge, Southend, Buckley and Brighton.
The tour - in support of debut album The Key - kicks off in Germany on November 13 and tickets can be purchased via the band's website. Support at the English shows comes from British band ICON.

Bring Me The Horizon Release 'Happy Song' Live Video From Leeds Fest(TeamRock Radio)

Bring Me The Horizon have released a live video of their performance of "Happy Song" from this year's Leeds festival. The footage was captured during the Sheffield band's Main Stage performance at Leeds on August 30.
The track comes from Bring Me The Horizon's fifth album That's The Spirit, which was issued in September. On the album, frontman Oli Sykes previously said:

"This time round the challenge wasn't just for people to be impressed that a screamer's learned to sing. We had to come back with something that would be impressive for people who had no idea of the history of the band." Watch the video here.




Napalm Death's' Live Corruption' Set For Limited Edition Vinyl Reissue(TeamRock Radio)

Napalm Death's 1992 live collection is due to be released on vinyl for the first time. It was previously only available on CD as part of a limited edition box set.
Live Corruption was recorded in 1990 at Salisbury Art Centre in England and features the band's classic lineup of Barney Greenway, Jesse Pintado, Mitch Harris, Shane Embury and Mick Harris.

On November 20, Earache Records will release the set on limited edition vinyl - with 300 clear and black splatter versions available and just 100 copies of a special 'black series' version being issued. See the track details here.



Skunk Anansie Announce New Album 'Anarchytecture'(Classic Rock)

Skunk Anansie have confirmed the released of their sixth album, Anarchytecture, which is set to hit stores on January 15, ahead of a European tour which kicks off with two UK dates.
The band's management describe Anarchytecture as "a collection of hard-hitting alternative rock anthems, brimming with punchy riffs and the sort of fire that can only burn from the heart and soul of vocal powerhouse, Skin."

The follow-up to 2012's Black Traffic was produced by Royal Blood and Killing Joke engineer Tom Dalgety at RAK Studios in London, with mixing duties divided between Dalgety and Jeremy Wheatley. Mastering will be handled by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York. See the tour dates here.



Singled Out: Doll Skin's Family of Strangers

Doll Skin, the up and coming all-female rock quartet, tell us about "Family of Strangers" from their "In Your Face" EP which was produced by Megadeth's David Ellefson and will be released on October 30th. Here is the story:
Family of Strangers was the very first song Doll Skin ever wrote. It existed before we gave our band the name Doll Skin, actually! We were adamant about adding an original to our set for the battle of the bands we were participating in at drummer Meghan's high school. It would be our first gig ever, and we knew not a lot of bands would have originals, especially for a small high school battle. As soon as Alex perfected the main riff, and Nicole wrote a solid bass part, Meghan knew exactly what lyrics to pull for the song.

A year back, she wrote the lyrics about how connected a room full of fans can feel to each other during a concert. Complete strangers can become instant friends because they already have one thing in common; their love for music. For that one day, these people can all feel like family. Sydney phrased the melody to sound pretty punk heavy. We wanted the song to be huge in sound! We actually sped up the tempo at least 25 bpm's after five months of playing it slower live. It sounds way cooler at a faster tempo. It evolved even more when we recorded it at the Platinum Underground!
