Avenged Sevenfold Release Surprise Album

Update: Avenged Sevenfold confirmed the surprise release of their new album "The Stage" early this morning (Oct 27th). It was released both physically and at digital retailers. Here is our original report with more details:
Avenged Sevenfold's new album may be released on Friday (October 28th). The band has been expected to announce the effort during their concert event tonight, but an online retailer appears to have jumped the gun by publishing details.

Rumors have circulated that the band would announce the new album during tonight's concert (Oct 27) which will be streamed across the world in 3D, 360-degree via the VRTGO virtual reality platform.

Amazon in Canada reportedly posted details for the album including the tracklist, artwork and the title "The Stage" (not the rumored Voltaic Oceans) and listed a release date of October 28th, making it a surprise album release if the details are accurate. Guns N' Roses Fuels Call Of Duty Trailer(Classic Rock)

Guns N' Roses classic Welcome To The Jungle provides the soundtrack to a new trailer for upcoming video game Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
The trailer for the game - which is released on November 4 on PS4 and Xbox One, has been posted online. It also features swimming hero Michael Phelps and Eastbound & Down star Danny McBride.

Guns N' Roses this year announced a partial reunion of their classic lineup, with frontman Axl Rose and guitarist Slash playing together for the first time in years. Bass player Duff McKagan is also involved.

The reunited Guns N' Roses are currently on tour, with dates lined up through until next year. Further shows are expected to be announced in due course. Watch the trailer here.




Original Foreigner, Santana Singer Lead The Rock Pack Lineup

Original Foreigner frontman Lou Gramm, founding Santana singer and keyboardist Gregg Rolie, Cheap Trick singer Robin Zander lead the lineup of a special music collective called The Rock Pack.
The aforementioned singers along with ex-Journey singer Steve Augeri, former Asia frontman John Payne, The Tubes' Fee Waybill will be teaming up for a special concert on December 16 at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix.

Payne organized the event, which is expected to run for two hours and feature each singer sharing stories and performing some of their biggest hits. Payne had this to say, "I decided to create a unique concert concept that was start to finish full of monster hits by iconic vocalists." Find more details here.




The Doors' Earliest Recordings To Be Released On New Live Album(Radio.com)

Newly discovered live recordings of The Doors from May of 1966 are set to be released via a new live package entitled "London Fog 1966" which will hit stores on December 9th.
Before The Doors released their self-titled studio debut in 1967, they performed as the house band at London Fog, a West Hollywood nightclub located just down the way from Whiskey a Go Go. Now, fans will get to hear The Doors before they really became The Doors.

The live album will feature seven songs newly mastered by Doors engineer Bruce Botnick. The tracks are a combination of early Doors songs as well as blues covers. London Fog 1966 will be a collector's edition boxed set with only 18,000 copies available and each one numbered individually.

The set comes in a lift-top package made to look like a vintage storage box, and will include a CD and a 10-inch record designed to look like a test pressing. Read more here.



Killswitch Engage Announce Special Two-Disc Release

Killswitch Engage have announced that they will be celebrating this year's Black Friday Record Store Day event with the release of "Beyond the Flames: Home Video Part II."
The special release will be available in a two-disc, Blu-ray and CD package and will only be offered on RSD, which will be taking place this year on November 25th.

The package will include 3 and a hours of footage, including 17 live performances, a 75-minute documentary about the return of frontman Jesse Leach, the band's early days, as well as Jesse's departure from the group, according to the announcement. Read more here.





Chicago's Jason Scheff Leaves Band After 30 Years

Longtime Chicago singer and bass player, Jason Scheff, who replaced Peter Cetera in 1985, has officially parted ways with the group after an over 30-year run with the band.
Chicago broke the news to fans via their Facebook page with the following statement, "We are so grateful to Jason for the enormous contribution he has made to Chicago over the last 30 plus years. Everyone wishes him and his family all the best as he continues his musical journey."

The veteran outfit have recruited Jeff Coffey (credits include Hootie and the Blowfish, Vertical Horizon, Sixpence None the Richer), to take Scheff's place after he filled in for the singer/bassist earlier this year who took a break from the group for "family health reasons". Dillinger Escape Plan Perform With Original Singer(Metal Hammer)

The Dillinger Escape Plan invited their original singer Dimitri Minakakis to perform two songs with them in Seattle and video footage of the jam has been posted online by the band.
The band are on tour in support of new album Dissociation, after which they will bring their 20-year career to an end. Minakakis was a founding member of the group but left in 2001 and was replaced by Greg Puciato. The former frontman guested on The Mullet Burden and 43% Burnt - both early Dillinger tracks on which he recorded vocals - during the group's set at Seattle's El Corazon venue this week.

Earlier this month, former guitarist Jeff Tuttle joined the band for performances of Mouth Of Ghosts and Milk Lizard in Pontiac, MI. Dillinger have been playing smaller venues on the current run of North American dates, with guitarist Ben Weinman saying he will miss performing live when the band call it quits.

Weinman said: "The scary thing for me, in ending this, is I'm not scared of continuing to do this - I'm scared of not having those shows." Read more and watch the video here.




Video Of Danny Worsnop Live Return To Asking Alexandria Goes Online(Metal Hammer)

Video footage has emerged of Danny Worsnop making his live return to Asking Alexandria. The video was shot at Seattle's Showbox SoDo - the first show on their 10 Years In The Black tour.
The reunion was confirmed at the weekend, following a breakdown in relations with Worsnop's replacement Denis Stoff, who'd joined in 2015. Asking Alexandria's Seattle setlist excluded all songs from latest album The Black - their only record featuring the Ukrainian musician. Fans on social media have commented on the fact that nothing from The Black was performed and that a number of tracks not played live in years were included.

Guitarist Ben Bruce reported that Stoff had "just stopped talking" to the band - but the singer hit back later, saying: "I left AA because I can't be in a touring band at this point in my life. There's no drama and I don't want to be a part of it."

Asking Alexandria also recently confirmed they'd already started recording a new song with Worsnop. Matt Good - who's a member of Kill It With Fire alongside Bruce - has revealed studio work is in progress.

Good said: "Mixing an amazing new Asking Alexandria song at the moment featuring the return of Danny, who absolutely crushed the vocals. Damn damn." Read more and watch the video here.




Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow Release 'Perfect Strangers' Video(hennemusic)

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow have released a performance video of the Deep Purple classic, "Perfect Strangers", as a preview to the November 18 release of their DVD and Blu-ray package, "Memories In Rock - Live In Germany."
The set captures the guitarist's return to the rock stage for the first time in two decades this past June with a new lineup for a pair of Monsters Of Rock festivals in Germany and a third date in the UK.

Blackmore was joined by Lords Of Black singer Ronnie Romero, Stratovarius keyboardist Jens Johansson, Blackmore's Night drummer David Keith, bassist Bob Nouveau and backup singers Candice Night and Lady Lynn for the rare rock shows by the former Deep Purple legend.

Blackmore last performed rock in 1997 while touring in support of Rainbow's eighth album, "Stranger In Us All." That same year he went on to form the medieval folk band Blackmore's Night with then-girlfriend and now-wife Candice Night, and the group has gone on to release ten albums.

"Memories In Rock - Live In Germany" will be available via DVD+2CD, Blu-ray+2CD and digital formats, with a deluxe version (DVD, Blu-ray and 2CD in a 48-page hardback photobook) and a 3LP version (180-gram vinyl) due on December 2. here.



Limited Edition Beach Boys Album For Record Store Day(Gibson)

Thanksgiving is on the way, which means Black Friday is coming up, too. Each year, Record Store Day rounds up a collection of exclusive releases for its 2016 Black Friday event, with the music being available exclusively at independent record stores on Nov. 25.
Black Friday for the Beach Boys will bring a 19-song LP called Becoming The Beach Boys that packs songs from the band's recent compilation of early recordings.

The Monkees will release a 10-inch EP on vinyl named Good Times! Plus! that includes four non-LP songs the guys recorded while doing their 2016 release, Good Times!




Testament Frontman Calls Former Member's Rants Delusional(Metal Hammer)

Testament vocalist Chuck Billy has called the band's former bassist Greg Christian's most recent outburst "delusional". The disgruntled musician left the band in 2014 and said in the aftermath of the split that he had been left with less than $150 to his name. He also claimed that his former bandmates "took advantage" of him financially.
And last week, Christian repeated online rants about the situation, claiming he had made a "bad life choice" by staying with the band for as long as he did. But Billy reports he was surprised by Christian's most recent comments as they recently met face to face and their relationship seemed to have improved.

The vocalist tells eonMusic: "We shot our video last weekend - we're actually documenting some of the history of the Legacy record, and we'll hopefully put out a 30 year anniversary edition.

"We invited Greg to come down. Even with all the stuff that he has said, we still thought it was the right thing to do to invite him, because he was a part of it. He came down, and he said, 'I'm not going to bring any negativity - it's all going to be positive.'

"He came down, did his thing, we all said hi, smoked a joint together, and he was off on his way - no big deal. I don't know what happened by the time he got home, but by the evening, he just went on a rant again.

"I can't quite figure out what's going on or why, but his accusations are very delusional." Read more here.



The Winery Dogs Supergroup Going On Hiatus For 2017(Classic Rock)

The Winery Dogs are taking all of next year off to focus on their own individual projects, drummer Mike Portnoy confirms. The trio featuring the former Dream Theater drummer, along with Mr. Big men Billy Sheehan and Richie Kotzen, recently wrapped up their tour in support of their second album Hot Streak.
Portnoy tells Sirius XM (via Blabbermouth): "We're basically going to take 2017 off. Richie's going to do his solo band stuff, and I think Billy says he might be doing some Mr Big activity.

"I'm going to spend 2017 with The Neal Morse Band for the first several months, then possibly a new Flying Colors album and a new Metal Allegiance album. Billy, Richie and I have penciled in tentatively reconvening after next year - and hopefully at the start of 2018." Read more here.



Last In Line Is 'All About The Music' Says Vivian Campbell(Classic Rock)

Guitarist Vivian Campbell has called working in Last In Line a "passion project" and credited late bassist Jimmy Bain with making sure that any profits generated by the band were split equally.
Bain died just weeks before the Dio offshoot released their debut album Heavy Crown. But speaking about his work outside of Def Leppard, Campbell praised Bain's vision for the band and says being able to perform in the outfit is a "labour of love."

Campbell tells Rock Today: "Jimmy did feel that this was his band. We split everything equally - there's no prima donnas in this band. We split all the songs four ways, regardless of who initiated the idea or who did the lion's share of the work. It was very much a team effort and I think Jimmy really appreciated that.

"I think that makes for better music where's there's no other agenda involved, when you're not thinking 'OK, I'm going to get all the publishing on this song so I can make more money'. It's all about the music and that's all it's about." here.




Periphery's Spencer Sotelo Finishes NIN Inspired Solo Album(Prog)

Periphery frontman Spencer Sotelo has finished working on his solo album under the name Endur. Heavily inspired by Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor - taking in everything from the band's 1992 debut EP Broken up to 2007's Year Zero - Sotelo says the project will launch before the end of the year.
He tells Metal Injection: "I actually just finished my solo album. It's coming out under the name Endur. It's like Trent Reznor worship and very heavy industrial.

"From Broken to Year Zero material. That's coming out on Sumerian Records in November or December this year. There's no set date for it yet, but I just turned it in." Read more here.



Kentucky Headhunters Cover Alice Cooper Classic On New Album(Gibson)


Veteran rockers the Kentucky Headhunters are gearing up for the release of On Safari, a collection of fiery blues-tinged and country-flavored rockers that rank with the best work the pioneering southern band has ever recorded. The album features all-original material, with one exception - a blistering cover of the 1971 Alice Cooper classic, "Caught in a Dream."
"That was [drummer] Fred Young's idea," says Headhunter guitarist Greg Martin. "He and [his brother] Richard had the Love it to Death album in the early '70s. That's such a great song. We didn't do it exactly like the Alice Cooper group did it - we changed the format around a bit and tried to bring something of our own spark to it, hopefully."

Martin, who's a big fan of original Alice Cooper guitarist Michael Bruce's songwriting, says he detects an "early Cooper" influence in the work of other southern bands. Read more here.

Steven Wilson and Aviv Geffen Push Back Blackfield Album Release(Prog)

Steven Wilson and Aviv Geffen will release Blackfield V in February. It was originally due to be released in November via Kscope - but that date has now been pushed back until February 10, 2017.
Wilson stepped back from Blackfield in 2009, announcing a full departure in 2014. But he's described his latest work with Geffen as "a return to the full partnership that made the first two albums such firm favourites with fans."

Blackfield V was written and recorded over 18 months between Israel and England, and features 13 "linked songs that form a flowing 45 minute ocean themed song cycle." It's said to be "a powerful journey through catchy melodies, lush arrangements, and stunning production, with legendary producer and engineer Alan Parsons working on three of the album's key tracks." Sid Vicious Documentary Coming To Theaters(Gibson)

A film documentary that explores the tumultuous relationship between late Sex Pistol bassist Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen will be screened in several North American cities during November and December.
Directed by Danny Garcia, whose previous work includes "The Rise and Fall of The Clash," the aptly titled "Sad Vacation: The Last Days of Sid and Nancy" will also be available on home video beginning December 9.

It includes interviews with such insiders as Bob Gruen, Sylvain Sylvain, Leee Black Childers and singer Donna Destri -- sister of former Blondie keyboardist Jimmy Destri.

Rock Has Reached A Dead End According To The Who's Daltrey(Classic Rock)


Roger Daltrey says rappers have more relevance in today's music scene than rock bands. The Who frontman says rock music has "reached a dead end" and also reckons his band have been "stuck in a cycle" as they've been playing the same material for the last 40 years.
Daltrey tells The Times: "The sadness for me is that rock has reached a dead end. The only people saying things that matter are the rappers and most pop is meaningless and forgettable. You watch these people and you can't remember a bloody thing."

The Who recently wrapped up appearances at the Desert Trip festival in California with the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young and Roger Waters. And despite the star-studded names in the lineup, Daltrey says his high point was at the Day On The Green concert in California in 1976.

He adds: "Since then it seems we've been stuck in a cycle. Day On The Green happened 40 years ago yesterday. At Desert Trip we played the same set." Read more here.



Yes Icon Rick Wakeman Disgusted By Rock Hall(Prog)

Rick Wakeman has slammed the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for leaving the progressive music genre "ignored" - and says he might not attend if Yes are inducted next year.
They've been nominated for the third time after first becoming eligible in 1994. Wakeman tells WROR: "I pushed for Yes to go in the Hall of Fame when I wasn't in the band, because I felt the band deserved to go in years ago.

"There's some bands that have been inducted that I have no idea why they're in there. There's bands like Yes and a few others and you go, 'Why aren't they in?' It just doesn't make an ounce of sense to me."

He continues: "It seems that anything to do with prog rock was considered a dirty word by them. It's the most inventive and the most influential music to musicians that there's ever been in the history of rock'n'roll - and yet it's ignored.

"I'm not sure whether I'd turn up. I'm so disgusted with the way that prog rock and Yes have been treated, I might be busy. I might be washing my hair that night." Read more here.




Rolling Stones Play Private Gig For 300 People(Radio.com)

On Tuesday night, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft hosted a private Rolling Stones concert at Gillette Stadium for 200-300 of his closest friends and business associates.
According to the Boston Globe, those invited received a small box in the mail containing a white rock with the printed words: 'Gillette Stadium Tuesday Evening October 25, 2016. Very Special Live Performance by The Rolling Stones."

The guest list included 98.5 The Sports Hub's Scott Zolak, Boston rocker Peter Wolf, legendary designer Tommy Hilfiger, Secretary of State John Kerry, and Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck. Read more here.

Asking Alexandria have already recorded a new track with returned frontman Danny Worsnop. The reunion was confirmed at the weekend, following a breakdown in relations with his replacement, Denis Stoff, who'd joined in 2015.
But Matt Good - who's a member of Kill It With Fire alongside Asking Alexandria's Ben Bruce - has revealed studio work is in progress. Good tweets: "Mixing an amazing new Asking Alexandria song at the moment featuring the return of Danny, who absolutely crushed the vocals. Damn damn."

Iron Maiden Stand Against Pay For Play Practice(Classic Rock)

Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris says they'll never make other bands pay to support them on tour - and he believes other successful acts should do the same.
He argues that it's a great opportunity to help nurture the big names of the future, and it's also a chance to give something back to the scene that made him a success.

In many situations, support bands will be required to "buy on" to a headline act's tour, paying for the opportunity to appear before a bigger audience than they'd get themselves, with the aim of expanding their own following.

Harris tells Metal Journal (via Blabbermouth): "I hate it when people charge bands to play with them - I hate that. I've never done that and I will never do it.

"To me, it's just wrong. A band should get at least some expenses to pay a gig, and they shouldn't have to pay to play. I've always been really against that. I've always tried to help people out." Read more here.







Prince, Rolling Stones, Jack White Record Store Day Exclusives(Classic Rock)

Prince, the Rolling Stones and Jack White vinyl exclusives have all been announced for this year's Record Store Day's Black Friday event on November 25.
Late pop icon Prince will be honored with a 12-inch picture disc, featuring his 1992 single with the New Power Generation, Sexy MF. The Rolling Stones will also release their cover of Eddie Taylor's Ride Em On Down. The song will also be included on their forthcoming LP Blue and Lonesome, which arrives on December 2.

Jack White, formerly an ambassador for Record Store Day, will re-release the Raconteurs' Steady As She Goes and Store Bought Bones in a vinyl package which contains replicas of the band's backstage passes. Prophets Of Rage will issue a vinyl edition of their debut EP The Party's Over as part of Black Friday celebrations. Read more here.




Korn Release 'Take Me' Video(Metal Hammer)

Korn have released a video for their new track "Take Me." The song is taken from Korn's 12th album The Serenity Of Suffering, which is out now on Roadrunner Records.
Frontman Jonathan Davis recently told Metal Hammer that he was proud of the band's legacy and how they inspired a host of rock acts. He said: "Slipknot were inspired by what we did, but they took it and did their own thing, which is f***ing amazing. One that I thought was a big compliment, but I also thought was f***ed up, was Sepultura's Roots album.

"That was just a blatant Korn rip-off, and I had it out with producer Ross Robinson about that, because he just took our sound and gave it to Sepultura. My young brain couldn't handle it. But they were one of our biggest influences, so I guess they get a pass. And that's a classic album, so it's all good." Watch the video here.



For Today Members Launch New Band, Stream First Song

For Today may be on their farewell tour but brothers Ryan Leitru (guitar) and Brandon Leitru (bass) are already looking ahead to their next music project.
Ryan and Brandon announced their new group which they are calling Nothing Left and they are giving fans a taste of what is come with the releasing of the band's first song "Hands of Death".

Fans in Europe can also see the band perform live as a support act on For Today's farewell tour which kicks off tonight (Oct 26th). Brandon had this to say about the new group, "A lot of people have been asking if any of us will continue making music after For Today is finished," said Brandon Leitru. "Well, the answer is yes! Check out the first song from Nothing Left - the new band that Ryan and I started.

"We started putting together songs for this project early this year. We asked our friend Danon to do vocals and got Alex from Silent Planet to play drums on the recording. I'm happy with the way the songs turned out and excited to finally let people hear them."

Ryan adds, "It's been awesome to start fresh on a new project without guidelines or expectations. We had the freedom to make music that we want to hear without concern for how people will receive it. Tom Petty Announces 40th Anniversary Box Sets(hennemusic)

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will commemorate the 40th anniversary of their self-titled debut album with two companion vinyl box sets featuring their entire studio album catalogue alongside three solo records by Petty.
Many of these albums have been out of print on vinyl for years and most albums have been remastered for this release. All LPs in each of the limited-edition box sets will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl with replica artwork.

Due December 9, "The Complete Studio Albums Volume 1 (1976-1991)" presents Petty's first nine records - from the 1976 debut to 1991's "Into The Great Wide Open." The set features the singer's solo debut, 1989's "Full Moon Fever."

Due November 25, "The Complete Studio Albums Volume 2 (1994-2014)" delivers Petty's solo efforts "Wildflowers" (1994) and "Highway Companion" (2006) alongside all band releases through to their most recent album, 2014's "Hypnotic Eye." here.




Scorpions Energized By Addition Of Motorhead's Mikkey Dee(Classic Rock)

Scorpions singer Klaus Meine has hailed former Motorhead drummer Mikkey Dee as a "fresh wave of energy" for the band. Dee was named a permanent member of the veteran German outfit last month, after having joined them on a temporary basis in April. The move came after the end of Motorhead with mainman Lemmy's death in December.
Meine says in a press conference video, below: "We celebrate 50 years of Scorpions, but it's much more than that - the fact that the band is still together and we still put on a damn good show.

Evergrey Recruit Floor Jansen For 'In Orbit' Video(Prog)

Evergrey have released a video for their new single "In Orbit". It features on the Swedish outfit's 10th album The Storm Within, which launched in September. The track features Nightwish singer Floor Jansen - who also appears in the video for the track.
Evergrey vocalist Tom S Englund tells Loudwire: "Floor is a personal friend and a major Evergrey fan, so it was discussed over a glass of wine between her and my wife Carina, who asked her if she wanted to do the song."

Speaking of the concept behind the follow-up to 2014's Hymns For The Broken, Englund said: "As usual, the lyrics are based on someone or some event in my life. When we were making this album a lot of these relationship issues were going on around me - people losing a partner or a loved one and grieving.

"The Storm Within is about a search for identity, trying to make yourself full when you feel half empty, and I placed that storyline in an interstellar world." Watch the video here.




Enslaved Stream New Song 'Heimvegen'(Prog)

Enslaved have released a stream of their new single "Heimvegen." It comes from the Norwegian outfit's upcoming 14th studio album The Sleeping Gods - Thorn, which will launch on November 11 on By Norse Music.
The follow-up to 2015's In Times is available for pre-order via their label's website and comes just a week after their 1994 debut album Vikingligr Veldi is reissued. It's set for release on November 3.

Guitarist Ivar Bjornson said of revisiting the record: "We have been waiting since the day we recorded it - and at last it is happening. It has been a challenging journey, and it has demanded a lot of patience and understanding from all parts involved.

Rick Parfitt Rules Out Return To Status Quo(Classic Rock)


Rick Parfitt says he won't return to performing with Status Quo in any capacity. The veteran guitarist suffered a serious heart attack on the road in June and his management later revealed he'd "died for several minutes" during the incident.
While he is expected to make a full recovery, he won't play any part in the band's current run of farewell electric shows and he now reveals he won't return to Quo in any performing capacity - although he remains involved in Quo's business activities. He has been replaced by Richie Malone and after the tour ends on December 23, Quo will only perform acoustic shows in the future.

Parfitt tells Classic Rock's Dave Ling that he won't go to any of the electric shows and that he has no interest in being a part of any future acoustic gigs. On whether he will attend the electric shows, Parfitt says: "That wouldn't be a good move. Some fans would think, 'If you're well enough to be here then you're well enough to play.'

"Plus, standing there in the audience… no, I don't think I could do that, but I do wish Richie Malone all the best. He's a f***ing good little player and it must be all of his dreams come true." Read more here.




Bob Seger In The Studio For Night Moves 40th Anniversary(Classic Rock)

The latest episode of the syndicated radio show In The Studio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the 40th anniversary of Bob Seger's breakthrough album "Night Moves." The show sent over these details:
Bob Seger had come to the plate eight times with studio albums prior to 1976. He had singled way back in 1968 with "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", doubled into the gap with Back In '72 and Bob Seger Seven and tripled with 1975's "Beautiful Loser". But the album Night Moves released in October 1976 was a real home run that traveled out of the park and didn't come down until it landed in 2004 at the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame.

Prior to Night Moves, Seger, considered by many critics as strictly a Midwestern regional act, proved them wrong when, after a twelve year career of paying his dues, he release two records back to back, Live Bullet in April 1976, recorded in front of an enthusiastic home crowd at Detroit's Cobo Hall, followed in October of that same year with Night Moves, which Rolling Stone magazine declared as the "Best Album of the Year".

In an in-depth interview with In The Studio host Redbeard, Bob Seger shares stories about the making of this landmark album and the professional and life lessons learned getting to that point.

Bob Seger says, " I think I made it when I was ready to make it. I think a lot of it was attitude. A lot of it was writing ability, consistent writing ability. A lot of it was maturity, a lot of it was the right band."

Protest The Hero Stream New Song 'Harbinger'(Prog)


Protest The Hero have made their song "Harbinger" available to stream. The track comes from their forthcoming EP Pacific Myth - their first material since 2013 studio album Volition - and it'll feature six new tracks along with instrumental versions.
The songs were previously only available to subscribers to the band's Pacific Myth platform - but the songs have now been remixed and remastered for a wider audience. The package will get its official retail release on November 18.

Crowbar Going Old School With Todd Strange(Metal Hammer)


Crowbar leader Kirk Windstein says the return of bassist Todd Strange has given their material an "old school" feel - and he can't wait to return to the road with him.
Former bassist Jeff Golden claimed he was fired by text message earlier this year - a move which paved the way back into the band for Strange, who had left the group in 1999.

Windstein says bringing him back into the fold wasn't a conscious decision, but one which has proved to be a success as Crowbar prepare to launch their 11th album The Serpent Only Lies on October 28.

Windstein tells New Noise Magazine: "We wish Jeff Golden all the best. It's just one of those things where things weren't working out with Jeff, and it's weird.

"Todd left the band in late 1999, and I hadn't seen him for years. We never left on bad terms - he just decided he'd had enough. As things started to become obvious that it wasn't going to work out with Jeff, we said, 'We probably have to get a new bass player if things don't change.'

"Todd had picked up the bass and started playing again a couple years ago. So, when things didn't work out with Jeff, Todd was there. Everything was written before any of that happened. That wasn't a conscious thing with Todd in mind.

"But I can't wait to play the new songs with Todd, because it does have that old school feel, and him coming back into the band is really a great thing. His attitude is unbelievable." Read more here.




Knifeworld Release 'I Must Set Fire To Your Portrait' Video(Prog)

Knifeworld have released a live video for their track "I Must Set Fire To Your Portrait." The song originally appeared on the band's third album Bottled Out Of Eden, which launched earlier this year. And they've made the video available to mark the announcement of a one-off acoustic show at London's The Islington on January 14.
The new video was shot at London's Bush Hall in June on Knifeworld's tour in support of the record. Vocalist and guitarist Kavus Torabi says: "The last tour felt, in a lot of ways, like the coming together of everything we've been doing in Knifeworld since we became an eight piece.

"Some of the songs have really evolved since they were first recorded and sound so much more exciting now. The Bush Hall concert felt like such a magical show and I'm so glad we captured it." Watch the video and read more here.




Singled Out: The World Over's Mountains

The World Over vocalist Tiaday Ball tells us about their latest single and the title track to their recently released new album "Mountains." Here is the story:
Our single and title track, "Mountains", started out sounding like the metalcore/post-hardcore stuff we used to play on our first album ("Rampart District") before it evolved into what it is now. There's a big change stylistically between our 2 EPs which is why they're 2 years apart. We really wanted to do something that sounded more like us, and post-hardcore didn't feel like "us". We wanted something fresh. We were inspired by a lot of different artists all across the board from PVRIS to the Deftones to more popular acts like Sia or more progressive acts like Periphery and even some more fusion artists like The Reign of Kindo. We'd spend a few days every week at Ryan's home studio during pre-production just writing non stop.
Once we dialed in the sound we wanted for this record, it all came together very naturally. We already knew exactly what we wanted by the time we hit the studio in Canada. There we recorded with our producer Siegfried Meier and Melvin Murray on drums and the whole thing came together very smoothly.

This song in particular took the longest to write, vocally. We tried collaborating with other artists to get outside ideas and perspectives on it. We'd be jamming with 3 acoustic guitars around in a circle at our former drummer's house and we got this one melody that wouldn't leave us. We tried using it as a chorus and got tired of it or it didn't sound as good sung with lyrics, tried using it in other songs; it just didn't seem to fit. That melody kept following me around even after I came up with the current chorus melody for this song so we decided to make it the "viking chant" gang vocal part in the bridge and it worked perfectly.

The chorus melody came to me so last minute and was put together only a few weeks before it was time to go to Canada. Throughout the entire pre-production process, this was the hardest song to put together and we even thought this wouldn't make it on the record so we would use something else instead. I had a huge writers block for a good portion of the pre-pro side but I guess I work better under pressure!

As for the lyrics, to what extent will you go to save your friends in their times of need? If it's hurting your morals, sucking you of your life and precious time? I was trying my best to help out a close friend of mine during times when no one else was there for her. I thought I knew her really well but she turned out to be a crazy motherf*cker and in the end, I had to cut her out of my life. If people want to be saved, they will take your help and work on themselves, not bring you down with them. That is not a friend.

Eddie Vedder Ejects Fan From Pearl Jam Concert(hennemusic)

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder ejected a fan during the band's second show at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL on August 22 and video of the incident has surfaced.
The group were performing "Lukin" late in the main set when Vedder noticed something going on in the crowd near the stage and he abruptly shut down the song.

"Hey! Hey mister! Hey, hey, get your finger out of that woman's face motherf…" he said. "Hey mister, all the the fingers are pointing at you. Yep. Come on. Clear out, mister."

As the alleged offender was escorted out by security, the singer made sure the female fan who may have been harassed was alright. "Ma'am, you're OK? Yeah? You're good? Alright, good," said Vedder. "That's a good man, taking care of your woman, and then she was taking care of herself, too, pretty good."

Vedder then counted the tune back in and, without missing a beat, Pearl Jam performed the final 15 seconds of the 1:02 track from their 1996 album "No Code."

Metallica Avoiding Online Negativity Over New Music(Metal Hammer)


Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett refuses to let himself read online comments about latest track Hardwired, in case they make him feel as if he shouldn't have bothered recording it.
He'd rather preserve the "great buzz" he has about the song, which will appear on 10th album Hardwired… To Self Destruct when it arrives on November 18.

The band debuted Hardwired on stage in Minneapolis at the weekend, just five days after they'd first played it together. Hammett tells 93X: "I feel the excitement, the energy in the air. We're all kind of picking up on it. I'm getting a tremendous amount of texts from friends, saying, 'Great song! Wonderful song!

"But as soon as I go onto my computer I think to myself, 'Should I read what other people are saying? Should I read some comments?' I instantly say to myself, 'Don't go there.' Because I'll get angry, then frustrated, then confused - and then want to write it all off as just f---ing useless bull---. 'Why did I even waste my time?'" Read more here.




Bruce Dickinson Backed Aircraft Crashes During Second Flight(Classic Rock)

An aircraft part funded by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson has crashed on its second flight. The Airlander 10 was damaged when it took a nosedive during a flight from Cardington Airfield in Bedfordshire, UK.
Billed as the world's longest aircraft, the £25 million aircraft sustained damage to its cockpit in the crash that occurred at around 11am GMT on Wednesday.

Aircraft enthusiast Dickinson announced last year that he was investing £250,000 in the manufacture of the Airlander 10 - which is described as part plane, part airship. It measures in at 302-feet long and can stay airborne for five days.

HAV, the craft's developer, tells the BBC all the crew are "safe and well". A spokesman adds: "The flight went really well and the only issue was when it landed." Read more here.




Nickelback Stream Cover Of Don Henley Classic(TeamRock)


Nickelback have streamed their cover of Eagles man Don Henley's 1982 track Dirty Laundry. They recently recorded it during sessions for their ninth album, which is expected early next year.
Chad Kroeger and co say of the song: "Sometimes you play a song in the studio just for fun. And sometimes it's so fun you have to record and share it with everyone!"

Nickelback are engaged in legal action against insurance giant Lloyds, who are refusing to cover the $13m costs associated with cancelling a run of dates last year as a result of Kroeger's vocal cord issues. Lloyds claim that he knew about the problem before the tour was arranged, but the band say that's not true and the firm are simply trying to avoid paying out. Check out the stream here.




Slipknot Considered Breaking Up Says Corey Taylor(Metal Hammer)


Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has recalled how the band almost split after their first album as a "f*** you" to the music industry. Their self-titled debut was released in 1999 and the backlash that surrounded it nearly led the band to call it quits before they eventually made 2001's follow-up Iowa.
Taylor tells Alternative Press: "That was one of those ideas that I was so in love with because it was such a 'f*** you' to the industry. Just to pull a total Sex Pistols and make one monstrously f***ing destructive album then just be like, 'No, that's all you f***ing get, f*** you.'

"I just remember the excitement on all of our faces and in all of our hearts. I even told some friends 'Yeah dude, we're gonna break up,' and they were like 'What the hell are you talking about?' They just thought we were f***ing crazy." Read more here.






Lemmy Statue Unveiled At Rainbow Bar And Grill(Classic Rock)

Artist Travis Moore has unveiled his statue to late Motorhead icon Lemmy at Hollywood's Rainbow Bar And Grill - the singer and bassist's favorite haunt.
The life-size bronze sculpture was commissioned after fans and friends contributed to a fundraising campaign following Lemmy's death in December.

Motorhead's long-time manager Todd Singerman and Lemmy's girlfriend Cheryl Keuleman attended the unveiling along with a number of rock and metal fans, who crammed into the venue on the Sunset Strip to see the 6ft statue for the first time.

Singerman tells the Press Association: "I look at him no differently than Johnny Cash, the Beatles and so on. He was real. He didn't bullsh*t. The way he went on stage was the way he was at home. Go find that today."

Speaking of the decision to locate the sculpture at the venue, Keuleman says: "The Rainbow was Lemmy's home." Read more and see a photo of the statue here.




Of Mice & Men Release Fan Assisted 'Real' Video(Metal Hammer)


Of Mice & Men have released a video for their track Real. The song comes from their forthcoming fourth album Cold War, which is released on September 9.
The video features members of Of Mice & Men's Ampersand fan club after the band asked them to to answer the question 'What makes you feel real?' Fans were asked to write their answer on white paper and film themselves, before sending the footage for consideration. Seven of the fans were also chosen to take part in the video shoot.

On the Real video, frontman Austin Carlile tells Rolling Stone: "We shot it in Portland, Oregon, during a day off from tour. We asked fans to submit footage holding up poster boards that explain what makes them feel real. The images that pop up mention everything from music to foster care activism to the Marfan's Community to St Jude's hospital.

"And some people wrote stuff like, 'reading,' 'my friends,' 'family.' We even had some fans in the studio while we were recording, just to include them more in the process." Watch the video here.




Frankie Miller Lost Duets Album Includes Rod Stewart, Elton, Kid Rock(Classic Rock)


A lost duets album of Frankie Miller songs featuring Rod Stewart, Elton John, Kid Rock and Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh is to be released. Double Take, which also features country singer Willie Nelson, singers Huey Lewis and Bonnie Tyler and Status Quo's Francis Rossi, will be issued on September 30, 22 years after the singer-songwriter suffered a brain haemorrhage which cut his career short.
A batch of the singer-songwriter's lost demos have been reworked for the release after they were given to manager David Mackay by his wife, Annette.

The album is bundled with documentary DVD Frankie Miller: Sending Me Angels. Walsh tells the Daily Record: "I knew he was a brilliant singer, but I didn't realize how good a songwriter he was until I heard this massive collection of demos that he did.

"He pretty much wrote a song every day. I can't comprehend - it takes me a year to write a good song, you know, and he'd just crank 'em out without even trying." Read more here.




Dee Snider Predicts Metal Fans Will Hate His New Album(Classic Rock)


Dee Snider says most of the metal fans who follow Twisted Sister will "hate" his upcoming solo album, We Are The Ones. The singer has launched a Pledge campaign to fund the record, which is due out on October 28 and available for pre-order via Amazon.
Snider tells Billboard: "We created an album that is part Foo Fighters, part Imagine Dragons, part 30 Seconds To Mars. Forget anything from the past. Most of my heavy metal fans are gonna hate it - I've abandoned my past to move forward."

Though his sound is moving in a different direction, Snider says the legacy of Twisted Sister classic We're Not Gonna Take It will live on in the album's title track, We Are The Ones, which was the first song producer Damon Ranger presented to him.

Snider says: "Thematically, Damon says it's the message of Dee Snider fighting back and rebellion. it's believing in yourself. The We're Not Gonna Take It message is eternal and that should continue on." Read more here.




Toots Thielemans Dead At 94(The Blues)


Toots Thielemans has died aged 94. The multi-instrumentalist, who was widely known for his mastery of the harmonica, reportedly died in his sleep. He'd been hospitalised last month after a fall.
His manager Veerle Van De Poel tells the Los Angeles Times: "There were no complications. He died of old age, his body was simply worn out." Thielemans was an in-demand session player and a successful recording artist in his own right, having released a string of solo records over 50 years - including 1962 hit album Bluesette. He once described his sentimental, melodic musical style as "between a smile and a tear," his unusual blend of guitar and whistling becoming his trademark sound.

Though he rose to prominence in the jazz scene, Thielemans featured on a number of pop songs, such as Billy Joel's Leave A Tender Moment Alone and Julian Lennon's Too Late For Goodbyes, as well as R&B works including Quincy Jones' 1981 album The Dude and Paul Simon's 1975 record Still Crazy After All These Years. King 810 Release 'Alpha & Omega' Video(Metal Hammer)

King 810 have released a video for their track Alpha & Omega. The song features on the band's upcoming album La Petite Mort Or A Conversation With God, which was produced by the band along with Josh Schroeder and Justyn Pilbrow.
The launch of Alpha & Omega follows the band's videos for I Ain't Goin' Back Again and The Last Supper. The follow-up to 2014's Memoirs Of A Murderer is described as an "inspired, holistic body of work that marks a profound evolutionary leap for the restless, driven souls of King 810.

"The title itself is a reference to the duel themes of the records - the real life violence and despair of Flint that fuels frontman David Gunn's narrative and secondly, the steady desensitisation and terminal closing down of the human spirit experienced when confronted with those real life conditions.

Jon Anderson Reveals His Last Message To Chris Squire(Prog)

Former Yes vocalist Jon Anderson has revealed the last message he sent to Chris Squire before the bassist's death last year. And he's reflected on the impression his late colleague's approach to music continues to make on his own work.
Squire passed away in June 2015, a month after announcing that he'd been diagnosed with cancer. He was 67. Anderson - who split with Yes in 2008 - tells Newsweek: "I emailed him, but he couldn't speak at that time. I said, 'I want to thank you for your life, your music. Without you I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing, and I'm so blessed to have had you in my life.'"

He continues: "As a musical partner he was so opposite to me. We were the yin and yang of the band. Like we would joke, I was Obi-Wan Kenobi and he was Darth Vader.

"The beauty of it was, I would be singing ideas and his bass would reflect my song, my lyric, my everything." Read more here.




Anthrax's Joey Belladonna Returns To The Recording Studio(Metal Hammer)

Anthrax producer Jay Ruston has revealed the band's frontman Joey Belladonna is in the studio working on an unnamed project. Ruston has posted a picture of himself and the singer on social media, alongside the captions "Vocal time @Anthrax" and "Hmmmm, what could they be recording?"
It is not clear whether Anthrax are working on new music so soon after the release of their latest album. Anthrax released their 11th album For All Kings in February of this year. And in a recent interview with The National Student at this month's Bloodstock festival, Belladonna revealed he was recording "a couple of songs" once he got back to the US.

He said: "I'm going to record something when I get back - a couple of songs - but that's right in the middle of it. If something needs to be done, I've got to get in to do it. I hate to be rushed. I wish I could have done it two months ago but now there's a window." Read more here.




Children Of Bodom Announce North American Tour(Metal Hammer)

Children Of Bodom have announced a North American tour which will take place this winter. The Finnish band will hit the road with Abbath, Exmortus and Oni in November and December, with the dates set up following Alexi Laiho and co's 2015 album I Worship Chaos.
Former Immortal frontman Abbath will also be promoting his self-titled 2016 debut record on the trek. The album has courted controversy, as his former bandmates accused him of stealing songs they had written for the follow-up to 2014's All Shall Fall.

Laiho tells Blabbermouth: "We're happy to have finally put something cool together for our upcoming US headline tour with Oni, Exmortus and the one and only Abbath - so I'd say this tour is more than worth checking out. We hope to see you there." See the dates here.




Status Quo Announce New Acoustic Album 'Aquostic II'(Classic Rock)

Status Quo have revealed that they'll launch their second acoustic album later this year. The follow-up to 2014's Aquostic (Stripped Bare) will be titled Aquostic II - That's A Fact! and will be released on October 21 via Universal Music On Demand.
Aquostic II - That's A Fact! will be issued on CD, limited edition double vinyl and deluxe 25 track edition 2CD. The standard CD release features 12 reimagined Quo tracks along with new tracks One For The Road and One Of Everything.

The deluxe edition comes with a second disc which features six tracks recorded at the band's Stuttgart Aquostic show 2014 and another new track, Is Someone Rocking Your Heart?

Enter Shikari Announce 'Live At Alexandra Palace' Album(Metal Hammer)

Enter Shikari are to launch an album titled Live At Alexandra Palace on November 4. It will be the sixth installment of the UK outfit's Bootleg Series - showcasing their sold-out performance in February at the London venue.
The band originally planned to release the entire show as a live video package using crowd-shot footage and film captured from giant screens. But they didn't have enough quality footage and instead opted to put out Redshift as a standalone visual document of the night.

Frontman Rou Reynolds said of the video: "After such a spectacle, we decided to cobble together and edit the footage from the jumbotrons on the night.

"Unfortunately a lot of the crowd footage was warped and unusable, but we were only able to put together one great track rather than a whole show, but we hope this'll give you an idea of the energy on the night.

"Being such a DIY tour - programming the video screen content and 4.1 surround sound mix ourselves, for example - it seems only right and proper that we apply that approach to the documentation of the show too. You Me At Six Stream Title Song For 'Night People' Album(TeamRock)

You Me At Six have revealed they'll launch their fifth album Night People on January 13. To mark the announcement, the UK outfit have released a stream of the title track and given details of a 14-date UK and Ireland tour.
The band have been working on the follow-up to 2014's Cavalier Youth since last summer, with guitarist Max Helyer saying in 2015: "We've got ideas but we're very different people now and I think it's going to show the next progression of our band. We've done 10 years, but what's going to be the next 10 years for You Me At Six and what are we going to bring?"

Sabaton Announce Thobbe Englund's Replacement(Metal Hammer)


Sabaton have bid farewell to outgoing guitarist Thobbe Englund and officially welcomed his replacement Tommy Johansson. Englund played his last show with the band at their Sabaton Open Air festival in Sweden at the weekend. Earlier this month it was revealed Englund was leaving due to the band's hectic touring schedule.
Now Sabaton have announced former Golden Resurrection and ReinXeed man Johansson as his replacement. Sabaton say: "Thank you Thobbe, welcome Tommy.

"Our guitar player Thobbe did his final concert with us on last Saturday's very emotional show at the Sabaton Open Air festival. Celebrating the release of our new album while saying goodbye to a great friend is lots of mixed feelings. But the future is bright since this was not nearly our last stand. The event's fourth edition, dubbed Sur La Mer, will also host The Orchestra, Little River Band, Ambrosia, Richie Furay, Strawbs, Caravan, Lighthouse, Ides Of March, Shawn Phillips, Mike Dawes, Randy Hansen, Mellow Yellow and special guests Young Dubliners over the five nights on the Celebrity Cruise's Celebrity Eclipse vessel, which sails from Miami on January 2. Moody Blues frontman Justin Hayward says: "It's such a great opportunity to have all the fans together. I think the cruises are probably more about the people who love the Moody's music getting together - I think we're kind of incidental to it. I'm looking forward to it - it's always fun. AC/DC's Brian Johnson Helping Launch Music Therapy Center(hennemusic)

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson has been announced as the first patron of the Graham Wylie Foundation. The foundation's first project is to open a Nordoff Robbins music therapy center in Newcastle - the first of its kind outside of London.
"I am very proud and privileged to be the first patron of the Graham Wylie Foundation," says Johnson. "I strongly believe in the power of music to help children and adults through the tough times of ill health.

"The Brian Johnson Music Therapy Room in Sarasota, Florida, is flourishing and the results are wonderful, but now to be asked to be involved in something from my hometown makes me very proud." Read more here.




Lower Than Atlantis Announce Their 'Biggest UK Tour Ever'(TeamRock)

Lower Than Atlantis have announced their "biggest UK tour ever" next March. The UK outfit have planned the dates in support of the follow-up to their eponymous 2014 album, which is expected in 2017.
They're also offering fans the chance to buy pre-sale tickets on August 30 by pre-ordering a "signed and personalised" copy of the record by August 26 at midnight through their website.

Dreams of Vertigo's Doug Ferguson tells us about the "An (Un)Easy Goodbye" from their forthcoming EP "Reject University Part 2: From Six 2 Midnight". Here is the story:
Hate, anger, depression, and thoughts of suicide. All emotions that unfortunately plague millions of Americans. It was spring 2015 when singer Doug was heading to the small city of Temecula to visit his parents. As he was approaching the on ramp, he noticed a bunch of police cars making rapid U-Turns. As he got onto the freeway he noticed something. A man, in his 20s, hanging on the sign on the freeway over pass. Doug passed slowly and looked on. The man was at his lowest point in his life. sitting on the sign, ready to jump at any minute. Ready to end his life in the blink of an eye. Doug started to think... what was it that made this man so sad? What made him want to end his life? He got to his parents house, and jotted down some lyrics, thinking out loud to himself what this mans back story was. How he got there, etc... He then thought about all his friends who had battled depression. Some of them not making it.

"An (Un)Easy Goodbye" is that story. The life of a man, at the end of his life. Reflecting on his past mistakes, and what his life really meant. "An (Un)Easy Goodbye" can be found on the new EP from Dreams of Vertigo entitled "Reject University Part 2: From Six 2 Midnight" out on October 14th.

The recording process was quite fun with this song. We knew this song was going to be different from anything we had ever recorded, which was why we wanted to do it. We wanted big guitars, and huge vocals. Gonz came up with the bass riff a long time ago for another band he was in years ago. He said, it just wasn't the right fit for any other band he was in. It was definitely one of those songs where each member pushed each other to the limit. I think it's the most experimental song we have ever done. We hope that it speaks to people. We hope that we can connect with someone who may have problems with a similar issue. We hope that this song can reach people and make an impact on their life.

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler Fears For Joe Perry Following Collapse(Classic Rock)


Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler says he's "really concerned" about bandmate Joe Perry, who collapsed this past weekend while performing with the Hollywood Vampires.
The guitarist was taken to hospital after staggering off stage in New York City, and although he's been reported to be "doing better than feared," no details have been released.

Tyler fears that Perry, 65, is working himself too hard - and doesn't know how to stop. The singer tells Billboard: "I know my brother. He's just about the only other guy that's as passionate about his art as I am.

"He's always asking me to do three, four shows in a row. I can't - I'll blow my voice out. I know hot to maintain my career, my health. I don't think he knows how to."

Tyler suggests "someone's overbooking" the Hollywood Vampires, explaining: "I think they're all little burnt. I think they may need to look at that. Not young any more, you know?"

Reports that Perry may have had a heart attack remain neither confirmed nor denied, and it's not known when he'll return to action. He's due to commence an Aerosmith tour in September.

Tyler says: "I don't give a sh*t about the band - i want Joe to live. I'm really concerned that I'm not getting any news. I know that nobody's talking to me. I can only tell you that Joe's my brother, and I love him so much." Read more here.




Guns N' Roses Add New Leg To Reunion Tour(hennemusic)


Guns N' Roses have announced dates for a South American tour this fall. The reunited trio of Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan will extend their Not In This Lifetime run with the addition of 10 shows starting October 27 in Lima, Peru.
The trek will see the band play stops in Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Colombia and Costa Rica, with more to come. On-sale information, including Nightrain fan club pre-sales, will be announced soon.

Guns N' Roses are currently playing shows across North America on a tour that launched in Detroit, MI on June 23. Following Tuesday's concert in Pittsburgh, PA, the group will perform this week in Philadelphia, PA (July 14) and Toronto, ON (July 16). See the tour dates here.




Poison's Rikki Rockett Says He Is Now Cancer Free(Classic Rock)

Poison drummer Rikki Rockett has reported he's free of cancer after undergoing a program of experimental treatment. He'd been fighting a tumour on his tongue since June last year, and later reported it had returned despite nine rounds of chemotherapy and 35 rounds of radiotherapy.
But after being accepted for the experiment at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center, he says the tumour has completely gone. Rockett, 54, has posted a picture of himself with the center's Dr Ezra Cohen, saying: "Because of this man, I am cancer free!"

The drummer recently told how he'd retained an upbeat attitude, saying: "I was doing everything I could to think positive - that I was going to get on the trial." Read more here.




Why KISS Ditched Plans For Reality Competition TV Show(Classic Rock)


KISS drummer Eric Singer has revealed why the band drew up plans for a TV game show to recruit the next generation of members - then abandoned the idea.
The discussion came after Gene Simmons talked up the notion of KISS continuing once all the original men had gone, and came up with the game format alongside Mark Burnett, who devised The Apprentice.

The game show scheme was finally put to bed by band manager Doc McGhee. Singer tells Talk Is Jericho: "There was talk years ago about trying to do a TV show they were going to call KISS: The Next Generation, kind of like one of those reality shows, based on finding the members and putting them together.

"But the problem was, like Doc said, it's a great idea - but once you do that, then KISS as it is now, you're done. You can't do that kind of a show, then still keep being KISS. The Ghost Inside's Zach Johnson Has Surgery Setback(TeamRock Radio)


The Ghost Inside's Zach Johnson has been dealt yet another health blow to his recovery from the El Paso bus crash last November. Both drivers were killed in the collision and the band have suffered varying degrees of injuries.
Guitarist Johnson has endured more than 26 hours of surgery since the incident, which left him with a severely broken pelvis, various broken bones and the loss of some of his toes.

He's now facing his 11th procedure after an x-ray revealed his thigh bone hasn't healed properly. Johnson says: "I went in for a check up on my pelvis/hip. Then this came out of nowhere.

"Turns out my femur hasn't healed - it could be due to infection or just bad luck. They're setting up an array of tests, which will more than likely end up in surgery again, which would make it my 11th procedure." Read more here.




Red Hot Chili Peppers Star Blasts 'Idiot' Comparisons(Classic Rock)


The Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has branded those who draw comparisons between him and previous guitarist John Frusciante as "idiots."
Klinghoffer joined the band in 2009 after having been a touring member, in the aftermath of his friend and collaborator Frusciante's refusal to return following a hiatus.

The multi-instrumentalist has now recorded two albums with the Chili Peppers - 2011's I'm With You and this year's The Getaway. Klinghoffer tells Russian outlet Metro News: "Of course it gets annoying. On one hand it's an honor for me to be part of this band, and be mentioned in the same breath as Frusciante.

"But all these comparisons are simply absurd. We are two totally different people. I have never tried to emulate his technique - and, of course, I was not trying to get him to leave the band." He adds: "Seriously, anyone trying to compare us is an idiot." Read more here.




Slipknot's Corey Taylor Appears On Korn's New Album(TeamRock Radio)

Slipknot's Corey Taylor will guest on Korn's upcoming 12th album, Metal Hammer can reveal. Korn guitarist James 'Munky' Shaffer says Taylor "really lets loose" on the song he guests on and adds that the follow-up to 2013's The Paradigm Shift hits "nine out of 10" on the "heaviness scale."
Munky says: "We have Corey singing on one track and it's going to be a fan favourite because he really lets loose. On a heaviness scale of one to 10 with 10 being the 1994 self-titled, this album is a definite nine."

The as-yet-untitled record is expected to be released later this year and Munky says the band are working like "a well-oiled machine" since the return of Brian 'Head' Welch in 2013. Read more here.




Phil Collins Announces New Solo Collection(TeamRock Radio)


A Phil Collins compilation featuring 45 of his solo tracks is to be released later this year. Titled The Singles, the collection charts Collins' entire solo career - from his 1981 hit In The Air Tonight through to the title track of his 2010 album Going Back.
The package comes on the back of his Take A Look At Me Now retrospective campaign, with Nick Davis back on board to oversee the mastering process.

The Singles will launch on October 14 across three formats - 3CD deluxe edition, 2CD/4LP box set and via digital services. The box set incorporates 33 tracks in total. See the cover art and tracklisting here.




Operation: Mindcrime Announce New Album(Classic Rock)


Operation: Mindcrime have named their second album and announced its release date. The follow-up to 2015's The Key will be titled Resurrection and will launch on September 23 via Frontiers Music. It'll form the next chapter of a planned trilogy of albums from Geoff Tate and co.
Resurrection features a number of guest musicians including Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, while Tim 'Ripper' Owens and Blaze Bayley feature on the track Taking On The World.

Tate says: "I'm excited for people to hear and experience Resurrection because I think it answers some of the questions that were posed in the first album. Musically, it offers some of the most diverse and challenging material that I've ever written."

Trivium have announced a North American autumn tour with Sabaton and Huntress. The tour starts in Columbus, Ohio, on September 15 and runs for 25 dates.

Nirvana, At The Drive-In, Stooges Offshoot Anywhere Special Release (Classic Rock)


Anywhere, the supergroup collective featuring members of Nirvana, At The Drive-In and The Stooges, have announced a triple 7-inch limited edition vinyl package entitled "The Light Portals".

Dillinger Escape Plan Announce Intimate Tour(TeamRock Radio)


The Dillinger Escape Plan have announced an intimate tour of North America to take place in August. They've named it the Limerent Death tour - which would appear to be the name for their sixth album.
The follow-up to 2013's One Of Us Is The Killer has been produced by Steve Evetts, who worked on their 1997 self-titled debut EP. It's to be released via the band's own Party Smasher Inc label.

Frontman Greg Puciato said in March that the record would be "less accessible" than their previous work, adding: "As of right now it's pretty weird. I don't know if I would use the word aggressive - it's just really a change. I honestly don't really know how to describe it."

Megadeth Tease 'Post American World' Video(hennemusic)


Megadeth are previewing a clip from a forthcoming video for "Post American World", a track from their latest album "Dystopia." Filmed in late April, the full video is expected to be released soon.
Frontman Dave Mustaine calls the song a spiritual (and riff-wise) follow-up to Megadeth's 1992 track "Symphony Of Destruction." "There are all kinds of governmental backdoor meetings and agreements that the U.S. government has with people that you and I as Joe Q. Six-Pack have no idea of the why, whens or how," Mustaine recently told the Houston Press about the song. "People don't want America everywhere. And we can be like 'Okay, screw it. We'll pull out.' And then they can see what happens."

Following its release in January, "Dystopia" debuted at No. 3 on the US Billboard 200 with opening week sales of 49,000 equivalent album units. The feat marks the group's highest-charting US album since 1992's "Countdown To Extinction", which debuted and peaked at No. 2. Watch the preview here.




Limp Bizkit's Wes Borland Launches New DIY TV Series(TeamRock Radio)


Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland stars in a reality TV show which focuses on his restoration of a house in Detroit, Michigan. Borland and his fiancee Carre Callaway appear in Sight Unseen, which made its debut on the DIY Network in North America Wednesday night (July 13.)
Borland and Callaway - who work together in their band Queen Kwong - bought the house as a "fixer upper" and were followed by the DIY Network's cameras throughout the process.

Callaway tells Entertainment Weekly: "We already decided to move to Detroit. I guess the idea was we wanted to buy one of the houses in the historic neighborhood, and we had no background really with taking on such a large renovation project.

"This show we thought would really help expedite the process so that we would learn a lot from it. We wanted to leave LA and we were considering a few different places, and we just felt that Detroit was the right choice. We don't have any ties here and we didn't know anybody here, but we were really intrigued by the city and everything that is going on with it now. It has exceeded our expectations." The Ramones Stream Classic 'Blitzkrieg Bop' Performance(hennemusic) The Ramones are previewing the upcoming 40th anniversary expanded reissue of their groundbreaking 1976 album debut with a live version of their classic "Blitzkrieg Bop."
Recorded during the second set of a two-gig night at The Roxy in West Hollywood in August of 1976, it's one of the previously unavailable bonus tracks featured on a new 3CD/1LP deluxe edition of the collection due for release on July 29.

The deluxe package includes a remastered stereo version of the self-titled project, a new mono mix and a pair of live sets at The Roxy. "The earliest mixes of the album were virtually mono," says original producer and mixer Craig Leon. "We had an idea to record at Abbey Road and do both a mono and stereo version of the album, which was unheard of at the time. I'm thrilled that now, 40 years later, we followed through on that original idea."

The 40th anniversary edition's second disc spotlights single mixes, outtakes, and demos. Several of those recordings have never been released, including demos for "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," "53rd and 3rd," and "Loudmouth."

The third disc captures the band performing two full sets live at The Roxy on August 12, 1976. Rounding out the collection is a vinyl LP containing the new mono mix of "Ramones", all packaged in a 12 x 12 hardcover book. Descendents Streaming New Song 'Without Love'(TeamRock Radio)


Descendents have issued a stream of their track Without Love. The song features on the band's seventh studio album Hypercaffium Spazzinate, which is out on July 29 via Epitaph Records.
Singer Milo Aukerman, bassist Karl Alvarez, drummer Bill Stevenson and guitarist Stephen Egerton ended their hiatus in 2010 and have been working on the new album over the course of the last three years.

Aukerman said: "I think one of the things that's kept us inspired over the years is having the music as an outlet for our frustrations. Having the freedom to completely blow my voice out every time I recorded was a very positive experience for me." Stream the song here.




Tesseract Streaming New Version of 'Survival'(Prog)


Tesseract have made their "reimagined" song Survival available to stream. It's lifted from the tour version of their album Polaris, which is due out on September 16. The package includes bonus disc Errai, with four new songs Survival, Cages, Tourniquet and Seven Names.
Vocalist Dan Tompkins says: "It's been fantastic to re-visit and re-work the vocals to some of the Polaris tracks from a different angle and with the benefit of time and space. The normal process of writing Tesseract songs starts with the creation of the music followed by the lyrical content.

"This time our producers have stripped away the music and re-created the songs based around the vocals. As a result this has allowed much more breathing space between both and also highlighted much more detail in the performance." Stream the song and read more here.




Matt Sorum Feels 'Blessed And Fortunate'(Classic Rock) Matt Sorum says he's "blessed and fortunate" to have such a successful career in music. The former Guns N' Roses and current Hollywood Vampires drummer admits that, as he has grown older, he's learned not to take his life and talent for granted.
He tells WRIF: "I've been really blessed and fortunate to play with my heroes and then my peers at the highest level of rock'n'roll. So what more could a guy ask for that grew up listening to rock and roll and then came to Hollywood in the late 70s?

"At this stage of my career, I'm not a young guy anymore, but I'm still keeping it together pretty good. I'm out there and I'm playing and people are coming." Read more here.

Motionless In White have released a video for their track 570. The band previously issued a stream of the song and made it available as a free download. It's not yet clear if 570 will appear on the follow-up to 2014's Reincarnate, although the band recently signed with Roadrunner Records.

Anvil have released a new music video for their track Zombie Apocalypse. The song comes from their album Anvil Is Anvil, which was issued earlier this year.
Steve 'Lips' Kudlow tells KNAC: "Zombie Apocalypse is my personal favourite from the album. I love the feel and tempo which allows for melody and sheer power."

Drummer Robb Reiner adds: "The song is combined with slamming doom feel and the track is hypnotic in nature. It displays a shredding of a guitar solo and has been fun to perform live. One of the many top tracks from Anvil Is Anvil." Watch the video here.

Motley Crue The End Farewell Concert Coming To PPV and On-Demand(hennemusic)


Motley Crue have announced that they are bringing their farewell concert film "The End" to Pay-Per-View and Video On-Demand across North America starting July 16.
Directed by Christian Lamb, the project presents the Crue's final live performance as captured at the Staples Center in their hometown of Los Angeles, CA this past New Year's Eve.

Concert footage is rounded out with interviews and behind the scenes material shot by "Jackass" creator Jeff Tremaine. "The End" saw its worldwide debut in US cinemas on June 14, followed by a Canadian screening on July 11.

The Warped Tour have released a live clip of Every Time I Die performing their track The Coin Has A Say. It was recorded at Houston, Texas, and the song features on the band's eighth album Low Teens - out on September 23 via Epitaph Records.
The follow-up to 2014's From Parts Unknown is described as "their most poignant and impassioned album in a career full of sardonic illuminations and pit-inciting fervor."

Beartooth Release 'Hated' Music Video(TeamRock Radio)

Beartooth have released a video for their track Hated. The song features on the band's second album Aggressive, which launched last month. The Ohio outfit previously issued streams of Loser and Fair Weather Friend along with a promo for the record's title track.
The band said of the follow-up to 2014's Disgusting: "The songs have as much in common with stomping metalcore as old-school punk, vintage screamo and harder-edged pop punk, combining circle pit-inducing bangers with soaring choruses and bridging raw authentic intensity with accessibility."

Beartooth will embark on a winter tour of the UK and Ireland later this year, with Vanna and Fit For A King in support.

AC/DC Icon Reveals Retirement Plans(hennemusic)


AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams says he plans to retire following the band's Rock Or Bust world tour. Florida's Gulfshore Life reports Williams plans are, in part, due to the changes the group have faced over the past few years, including the 2014 retirement of founder Malcolm Young due to dementia, a series of legal issues faced by drummer Phil Rudd, and the spring 2016 departure of singer Brian Johnson due to hearing loss issues.
"It's been what I've known for the past 40 years, but after this tour I'm backing off of touring and recording," says Williams. "Losing Malcolm, the thing with Phil and now with Brian, it's a changed animal. I feel in my gut it's the right thing."

All three longtime members have seen their roles filled by others: guitarist and nephew Stevie Young stepped in for Malcolm; Chris Slade returned to handle drums after Rudd recorded "Rock Or Bust"; and, the band accepted an offer from Axl Rose to help them fulfill their remaining 2016 tour dates in place of Johnson.

Williams joined AC/DC in 1977 following the firing of Mark Evans shortly after the group completed the recording of the "Let There Be Rock" album. Williams performed with AC/DC on the tour in support of the record before making his studio debut with them on 1978's "Powerage." Read more here.




Ex-Iron Maiden Singer Paul Di'Anno Recovering From Lung Surgery(Classic Rock)

Paul Di'Anno says a "rugby ball-sized abscess" on his lungs turned out not to be cancer. The former Iron Maiden frontman, 58, is living in a care home in his home town of Salisbury, England, as he recovers from an operation to remove the non-malignant abscess.
He expects to be in care for up to eight weeks and says that he could have to wait six months for an urgent knee replacement operation. After an interview with his friend and fellow former Maiden singer Blaze Bayley was reported on this week, fans were worried that Di'Anno was battling cancer. But he insists that is not the case.

Di'Anno tells Classic Rock: "I collapsed at home after coming back from Argentina and a scan found a massive big black shadow on my lungs. I thought I was on my way out, but it turned out to be non-malignant.

"It was an abscess that was all infected and the size of a rugby ball. It turns out I've been living with this thing in me for the last few years. The doctors said it was an airborne thing that caused the infection and I could have picked it up anywhere.

"I had to go into recovery after the operation and rather than go back to my home in Sao Paulo, Brazil, I stayed here in England and I'm now in a care home." Read more here.




Metallica's Lars Compares New Album To 'Master of Puppets'(Classic Rock)

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has offered a comparison between iconic 1985 album Master Of Puppets and their next release. And he's admitted his biggest regret with their third title is the amount of reverb used in the mix.
Speaking the US Library Of Congress on the occasion of Master Of Puppets being added to its permanent registry, Ulrich says: "Obviously the album has resonated with not only the Library, but with fans and critics. I'm not sure I can sit down and listen to it, though, and not yell, 'Will someone turn the reverb down!'"

He adds: "I guess there's a cohesiveness in the songwriting and the production. It works really well as a cohesive landscape, a musical territory. I'm happy it all lined up."

He recalls being "infatuated with the overdubbing opportunities and with all we could do in the studio" as they worked. Ideologies change - they go through arcs," he reflects. "At that time there was an evolution happening and people took it seriously.

"The record we're now working on is more about capturing a mood, making it sound raw and not overproduced. But it was a different vibe then and we were comfortable with it - we were excited about multi-tracks and all the gadgets." Read more here.

Paul Stanley Thinks KISS Should Make New Album(Classic Rock)


Paul Stanley thinks KISS should make another album - even though he admits fans are "not interested" in new material. The frontman says the follow-up to 2012's Monster would only be worth making if the band felt a creative desire to do so - as fans simply tolerate new material from classic rock bands rather than anticipate it.
Stanley tells Miles Schuman: "It's only worth doing it if, artistically, you want to do it. Every time we finish an album, I kind of go, 'Well, that's it.' When we did Sonic Boom, it was because the band was so good that I just thought to not capture the band and do new material would be a shame. But once we did Sonic Boom, I said, 'Well, we've made the point.'

"Then, a few years later, it was, like, 'Wow, why don't we dig deeper and get a little closer to the roots and the people that we loved and kind of do something else,' so we did that, and then I said, 'We're done.'

"Lately I've been thinking, yeah, we should do another. But there's no secret that when anybody who's considered classic or of our generation does a new album, most people are not interested in hearing that stuff - they tolerate it at best." Read more and watch the full video clip here.

For Today will split after 11 years together. The Iowa hardcore outfit have announced a farewell tour across North and South America, with European dates to be revealed soon.
For Today say: "When we started this band in 2005, we never imagined that our music would make it out of Sioux City, Iowa, let alone take us all around the world multiple times. Our lives have been hugely impacted by the time we've spent making music and touring.

"We met our wives, had kids and moved to different States because of For Today. It's been an incredible experience, but we feel like now is the time to close this chapter of our lives and move on.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Releasing 12 Previously Unreleased Solo Albums(TeamRock Radio)


Omar Rodriguez-Lopez will issued 12 previously unreleased solo albums over the coming months. Each album will be available on digital formats and CD, while a limited edition CD/LP box set will be announced in the near future.
The At The Drive-In and Mars Volta man recorded them between 2008-2013 and the collection will be issued by Ipecac Recordings on a bi-weekly basis, starting with the July 15 launch of Sworn Virgins.

Ipecac co-owner Greg Werckman says: "We had all admired Omar's work from afar and then recently got to know him up close. It was so great to find out that as talented as he is, he is an even better human being and we love having him as part of the Ipecac family."

Rodriguez-Lopez adds: "It's crucial in this day and age to be able to surround yourself with like minded people that you can share an ethos with. I feel grateful and fortunate enough to have found this with such amazing people: Mike, Greg, Shawn, Marc and the Ipecac family. Tame Impala Pelted With Cushions During Concert(Prog)


Tame Impala were pelted with cushions at their show in Lyon on Monday night. Kevin Parker and co were playing at the French city's Theatres Romains De Fourviere when the crowd, who had been given cushions to sit on, began launching them on to the stage towards the end of the band's set.
Tame Impala posted a short video clip of the incident on their Instagram account with the caption: "Get showered in cushions by 4000 French people."

They later posted a picture of the covered stage, saying: "Crowd standin' there all guilty like a puppy dog sittin' next to a pile of poo." Read more and watch the video here.




Jeff Beck Streaming New Song 'Right Now'(Classic Rock)


Jeff Beck is streaming his track Right Now exclusively with Classic Rock. It's taken from Beck's upcoming 11th album Loud Hailer, which is due for release on July 15 via Atco Records. Loud Hailer is Beck's first new album in six years.
Beck is featured in the upcoming new issue of Classic Rock magazine, which is out next week. In the interview, he reveals that he and Loud Hailer collaborators Carmen Vandenberg and Rosie Bones got together last December and "sat down by the fire with a crate of prosecco and got right to it."

He adds: "The songs came together very quickly - five in three days." One of the tracks, The Ballad Of The Jersey Wives, is about the widows of the 9/11 victims.

Beck adds: "We don't actually make reference to 9/11. The songs are about a general disgruntlement and dissatisfaction with things." Read more and stream the song here.




Alter Bridge Reveal New Album Details(hennemusic)


Alter Bridge have revealed that their upcoming fifth album will be titled "The Last Hero." The follow-up to 2013's "Fortress" was recorded earlier this year with producer Michael 'Elvis' Baskette.
The band hosted a listening party and live performance at The Beacham in Orlando, FL on Wednesday where fans were given a first listen to the project.

The event marked Alter Bridge's first live show of 2016, and they will now head out on a summer tour of North America beginning July 9 in Syracuse, NY.

The group just announced dates for a fall run across Europe, where they'll play 24 shows in support of the new record starting November 4 in Bilbao, Spain. Read more here.




Bumblefoot Knew About Guns N' Roses Reunion(Classic Rock)


Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal knew that Slash and Duff McKagan were returning to the band when he decided to quit. But even that didn't keep him from making the decision to move on - because he believed the time was right.
Asked if he knew about the reunion, he tells Loudwire: "Yeah, I did." But he hasn't seen the latest lineup perform. "That would just be weird," he says. "It's like going to watch your ex-girlfriend get married. I moved on, they moved on, I hope everybody's happy, that's all."

In 2012 Bumblefoot brought young fan Chloe Paris to a rehearsal, where she sang with the band. He recalls: "The things I remember the most was when something bad happened and it turned into something good.

"There was a sweet girl, and all the kids in school picked on her. I brought her into a rehearsal and she was a big fan of the song Catcher In The Rye. She's pretty much the only other person who sang with Guns N' Roses." Read more and watch the full video clip here.




Anderson, Rabin & Wakeman Reveal Full Band Lineup(Prog)


Anderson, Rabin & Wakeman have identified the other members of their band - bassist Lee Pomeroy, drummer Louis Molino III and multi-instrumentalist Gary Cambra.
The six-piece are gearing up for a tour of the US and the UK, which will include rearranged Yes material along with new music that's being written at the moment.

Wakeman says: "I have played with arguably the greatest bass players ever - Chris Squire, John Entwistle and Lee Pomeroy. I can't wait to play with Lee again!"

Molino has previously worked with Rabin, Roger Hodgson, The Tubes and others, while Cambra is also a Tubes collaborator and a composer for movie and TV soundtracks. Read more here.





Apocalypse Blues Revue Stream New Song 'The Tower'(TeamRock Radio)


The Apocalypse Blues Revue are streaming their track The Tower exclusively with TeamRock. The band is centred around Godsmack men Shannon Larkin and Tony Rombola, who are joined in the lineup by vocalist Ray 'Rafer John' Cerbone and bassist Brian Carpenter.
They'll release their self-titled album on August 26 via Provogue/Mascot Label Group. Larkin said of the project: "As far as blues goes, Apocalypse Blues Revue is a little heavier, a little darker, and has some punk rock attitude in the lyrics.

Joe Bonamassa Knows Where Stolen Eric Clapton Guitar Is?(Classic Rock)


Joe Bonamassa says he knows the location of the guitar stolen from Eric Clapton after he'd used it to record the Bluesbreakers' Beano album. The Les Paul Sunburst vanished from a Cream rehearsal in 1966, soon after work had been completed on the LP officially known as Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton.
The instrument has since become something of a legend among equipment fans. The Gibson company made a Beano replica in 2010. Bonamassa - an avid gear collector - tells Guitarist: "It's in a collection on the East Coast of America. That's all I can tell you and that's all I will say.

"It still exists. I haven't seen it, but I have it on good authority from people who have." He adds: "I don't know if Clapton would even want it back at this point. Would he even recognize it 50 years on? I guess so." Read more here.




Airbourne Streaming New Song 'Breakin' Outta Hell'(TeamRock Radio)


Airbourne have made their new single Breakin' Outta Hell available as a stream exclusively through Metal Hammer. The single will be released on July 8.

Syd Barrett To Be Celebrated At Film Festival(Prog)


A series of films will be shown at this year's Cambridge Film Festival to celebrate the life of late Pink Floyd icon Syd Barrett. Cambridge Live have teamed up with the Cambridge Film Trust for the event and will screen the documentary Get All That Ant? which features stills and archive footage taken during the 60s and filmed in Barrett's hometown of Cambridge, London and San Francisco.
The majority of footage has never been seen before and features live performances and stills featuring artists including Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones, The Doors and Donovan.

Filmmaker Anthony Stern says: "The film came about after a diagnosis of Parkinson's encouraged me to make sense of the last 50 years of my life. Delving through my cellar, I found suitcases full of tapes, film reels and over 7000 still photographs from the period 1963-1970.

"This film is a homage to that time, capturing the dreams, memories and reflections that sprung from a moment when we really thought we could change the world. Fifty years on, I'm starting to think these values are starting to reemerge." Read more here.

Five Finger Death Punch's Jason Hook says the band had their pick of record deals because they had "offers across the board from every label." The band signed with Rise Records in May following a legal dispute with their former label Prospect Park - whose roster includes acts such as The Devil Wears Prada, Of Mice And Men and Cane Hill. The guitarist describes the company as "hard-working" and "focused."
Hook tells Scotty Mars: "The nuts and bolts of it is that it takes a good, focused team to do all of the things that need to be done for a record and its cycle. And we're not delusional about knowing that a good team and a good label is just healthy and good for us.

"Rise is a very hard-working, no-bullcrap, focused label, and they work hard. I mean, let's face it - we could have basically picked anybody. We had offers across the board from every label." Read more here.




A Day To Remember Frontman Was Terrified Making New Album(TeamRock Radio)


A Day To Remember frontman Jeremy McKinnon approached the band's sixth album Bad Vibrations with terror - and that's how the record got its name.
His concerns came from having no material to present to his bandmates when the time came to start work on the follow-up to 2013's Common Courtesy, which will be released on August 19.

McKinnon tells RockSound: "The record is called Bad Vibrations because that's what I was feeling at the time, stuck in this weird, high-stress mindset every day. I was terrified. I went in to record with nothing much to offer - hardly anything that I was excited about."

He adds: "I've never had a problem with pushing other people's expectations aside, but it became a real issue. Thankfully the other guys stepped in and brought some great stuff to the table." Read more here.




Led Zeppelin Manager Peter Grant 'Was A Big Softie'(Classic Rock)

The late Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant was "a big softie" at heart, his son Warren says. The iconic music mogul carved a reputation as one of the most divisive and powerful figures in the industry before he died of a heart attack aged 60 in 1995.
But Warren - who is set to make a documentary about his father's life with the late boss's longtime friend, Atlantic Records executive Jerry Greenberg - says Peter was actually a "real people person" who treated everyone the same. The 49-year-old says this memory of his father has shaped his career as a manager of tribute band, Hats Off To Led Zeppelin.

Warren tells Billboard: "Dad was a big softie, let me tell you that. He knew when to push people's buttons at what point in time, or what needed to be done to get the job done. His no.1 thing was to protect that band, and he would use whatever means he needed to make sure that his band had what they needed to be brilliant at what they do."

He adds: "Dad was a real people person, you couldn't tell whether he was talking to the head of a department or a manager or promoter or just the person that was coming in during the patron, or the chauffeur, he would look after everybody the same." Read more here.




Deftones Frontman Explains Their Setlist Choices(TeamRock Radio)


Deftones say they don't feel pressured to play newer material in their shows before they feel ready. Despite that they face criticism from across their fanbase depending on the material they choose to play, Moreno says the band find comfort in the slow rehearsal process.
Moreno tells No Brown M&Ms: "There's this handful of fans that study every setlist in every city we play. They say, 'Why dont you play this?' The bulk of the stuff we play is the stuff that we play well. We want to play a good show.

"Not that we couldn't play other songs well, but the idea is that, as soon as we feel very confident, we can slowly start bringing them into the set and swapping songs out. But if we don't play it live, it's because it's not well-rehearsed yet. Why force it in there if it's not ready?" Read more here.

Plexus was inspired by new age philosophy and psychology all tightly knit into one package. The notion of a plexus is a mass gathering of nerve endings in one's body. Ironically, just about everything in our universe is connected in one way or another and that was the main theme behind our song. We promote the idea that whether you are predominantly positive or negative, however you choose to think and be is exactly how your life will turn out.

Gladiators is heavily influenced by a blue collar work ethic and our goal is to rub that off on our fan base and listeners any way that we can. "Plexus" has a spacey feel to the song so metaphorically speaking the connections and choices we make on a daily basis are endless.
