INXS Find Their New Voice and It's Not Bono
(Gibson) INXS recently posted a clip of a new song with the band's new singer but neglected to say who he was – only that he was Irish, which led to speculation about Bono and Rea Garvey. The Australian band have now revealed that their new singer is Ciaran Gribbin, according to Rolling Stone.
Gribbin's resume includes writing the Madonna single "Celebration" and singing backing vocals on Snow Patrol's "Eyes Open." Ciaran has already recorded some demos with INXS and will front the band during a tour in November. He replaces J.D. Fortune (who sang with the band after winning the reality competition Rock Star: INXS). Original singer Michael Hutchence died in 1997.
"A baptism of fire is the best way to describe the live shows, I think," Gribbin told Billboard. "In a way I'm slightly nervous, and in another way I'm unbelievably excited. It's a wonderful, proud moment for me. It's a real feeling of achievement to have a band of INXS' stature believe in me as a performer and a singer. It's genuine dream-come-true, fairy-tale stuff for me. I'm still waking up in the morning here in Australia going, 'How did I get here?'" more on this story

The Rolling Stones Hitting The Big Screen
The Rolling Stones will be hitting the big screen for one night only when their concert film from summer of 1978, The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live In Texas, is shown in more than 300 theaters nationwide on Tuesday, October 18, at 7:30 p.m.
Here is the official word on the film and theatrical event: Unveiled for the first time in more than 30 years, this rare, never-before-seen concert was captured live in Fort Worth, Texas, on July 18, 1978.
Digitally re-mastered to HD with Cinema Surround Sound, this legendary footage includes a mixture of classic Stones hits such as "Brown Sugar," "Honky Tonk Women," "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "Tumbling Dice," paired with blues numbers and Chuck Berry covers, as well as songs from the then newly released Some Girls LP including fan favorites "Beast of Burden" and "Miss You." more on this story
Rockstar: Supernova For L.A. Guns?
(Gibson) Following the departure of singer Jizzy Pearl, guitarist Tracii Guns is auditioning new singers for his version of L.A. Guns, including former Rockstar: Supernova contestant Dilana.
Guns confirmed on Metal Sludge, "I met with Dilana last night … she was actually pretty smart and down to earth, we had a long conversation and Jeremy [Carson, bass] was there. There are two other people I'm talking too as well who live out of the country."
Pearl departed the band on friendly terms to focus on his own projects. "He feels it is time to do his own thing and I couldn't be happier for him," Guns said. "He's a great friend. If Dilana were to end up in L.A. Guns it would be because I like her based on our chemistry and her ability to sing the L.A. Guns songs appropriately. I won't make a judgment on her based on someone's opinion of her on Rockstar: Supernova. Honestly, I wouldn't mind having a woman sing for L.A. Guns." more on this story

Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth and Leslie West Tour Postponement Explained
Yesterday we told you that the 3 Guitar Heroes Tour featuring Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth and Leslie West has been postponed. We now know why.
SKH Music further explained that the tour was postponed, "due to insurmountable travel issues. When faced with securing a viable path for West¹s travel while still confined to a wheelchair, the search for a vehicle went on for months, and it has been called off. Last week, West was fitted with a prosthetic leg, but it will take months before he is able to live a normal life with the appendage, and there is no way to tour at this time without the security of the wheelchair he has been confined to post-amputation."
As our news partner, Rock News Desk reported back in July: "West contracted an infection connected with diabetes on the way to a Mountain show in Mississippi. A two-day battle to stop it spreading to the rest of his body led to half of his right leg being removed." more on this story

Boe tells the Sunday Mercury that the two met by chance in a bar and realized they were fans of each others' work. Says Boe: "There are many people in the music business that I would love to collaborate with – but top of the list has always been Robert Plant. I'm a huge fan of classic rock. To get the chance to duet with him is a wonderful opportunity. It's fantastic! He's always been a real hero of mine." more on this story

The band had the following to say about their new deal and forthcoming album. Guitarist Ryan Moll says, "we are psyched to be on Candlelight." Sharing details about the ongoing recording he notes, "Right now we are in the studio working on our third and most intense release to date. This album promises to be the fastest, darkest, most relentless and insane album yet. It will contain some of the most bone-crushing, graveyard stomping, Frankenstein/Dracula/Wolfman hate-fuck riffage written thus far."
Guitarist Matt Moore adds, "Our wretched new masterpiece will be finished soon enough. Each song has its own distinct and strange aura of speed, darkness, brute strength, violence, cunning, and power. Like any respectable band, we have raised the bar and taken on musical and lyrical concepts that would drive commoners insane. Faster. Louder. Darker. Crazier."

Singled Out: 9 Left Dead's Put Your Guns Down
Today 9 Left Dead singer Travis Jones tells us about "Put Your Guns Down" from their brand new album "The Wrong Things," which is being released today. Here is the story:
The inspiration behind this single actually came from a night when Jared and I were on duty as prison guards. One day we had an inmate come in thinking he was a little more hardcore than he actually ended up being. I was having a bad night, and to add to it, this inmate kept running his mouth. One thing led to another and he ended up taking a swing at me. So I moved in on him, picked him up, and slammed him into the ground taking control of the situation.
Later on that night I was going back over what had just happened in my head and the line 'careful what you wish for' kept sticking in my head, because he wanted to fight, but I know he didn't see it playing out the way it actually did. And it made me think about those guys that think they are unstoppable until someone actually puts them in their place. That's where the idea for 'Put Your Guns Down' came from.
We look forward to the release of our album, 'The Wrong Things' this Tuesday, September 27. It is a very straight up rock and roll album with aggressive guitars riffs, hard hitting drums, and catchy lyrics and melodies that everyone can relate to and sing along with as well. Making this album with Cody Hanson of Hinder and Marshal Dutton was the experience of a life time for us and we hope our fans love it and that it helps us to build our fan base to an entire other level.
