Journey Reunion With Steve Perry At Rock Hall 'Has To Happen'(Classic Rock)
Journey's Jonathan Cain says that former singer Steve Perry should perform with them if they get the final nod for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction next year.
The band have been shortlisted alongside Yes, Bad Brains, Pearl Jam and Depeche Mode among others. Inductees will be announced in December with the induction ceremony set for next April at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
Keyboardist Cain says they'd welcome the former vocalist, who left in 1998, back for a performance at the ceremony. He tells The Pulse Of Radio (via Blabbermouth): "The door's always been open for him to join us any time he wanted. I mean, that has to happen. That band has to play. They have to play their music - two songs and I think we get to do two or three. That's how it works."
But Cain also admits he thinks it's "wrong" that current singer Arnel Pineda wasn't invited by the Rock Hall - and he says they'll lobby for his inclusion if they're inducted. Deep Purple were involved in a similar tug-of-war over Rock Hall's lineup selection earlier this year." Read more here.
Metallica To Make Videos For Every Song On New Album(Classic Rock)
Metallica are planning to make a music video for every song on their forthcoming album "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", according to drummer Lars Ulrich.
The band's 10th album is released on November 18 and so far they have issued videos for the tracks Hardwired, Moth Into Flame and Atlas, Rise! Drummer Lars Ulrich says the band have been sure to stay active online in the run-up to the album's launch.
He tells The Straits Times: "We like to stay active on social media. It's fun to do stuff where it instantly shows up all over the world. You have to accept the way that the world is spinning. Now that YouTube is the world's biggest television station, we figured we may as well knock a video out for every song."
Metallica have been recording the videos while making the album and on downtime from their current run of tour dates. Ulrich adds: "The practicality of shooting 12 music videos is kind of crazy, especially when you're trying to promote your record, and you're all over the place, and trying to make sure it doesn't leak. It's crazy but, at the same time, fun." Read more here.
Slash's Ex-Wife Reacts To His Claims They Were Never Really Married(Classic Rock)
Perla Ferrar, the ex-wife of Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash has hit back at the guitarist's claims the couple were never married. Earlier this week, Slash indicated they never legally tied the knot and, as a result, Ferrar had no right to a share of his wealth following their divorce in 2014.
Slash said he discovered she was still married to previous partner Carlos Marty when they later applied for dual citizenship for their son, Cash. The forms for a final judgment were reportedly not filed properly, according to TMZ.
But in a new TMZ video clip, Ferrar says Slash's claims are false and they're causing distress to both her and the couple's children. She says: "It's very hurtful to me and disrespectful to our children, and I gave him 18 years of my life. It's a bit unexpected and humiliating to our family. It's quite sad - we got married two times." Read more here.
Slipknot's Corey Taylor Announces New Book(Metal Hammer)
Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor will release his new book, America 51: A Probe into the Realities That Are Hiding Inside the Greatest Country in the World next July.
Its title is a play on Area 51, the top secret military base in Nevada. Continuing "the moral outrage" which began in his last book, You're Making Me Hate You, the Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman discusses what he's learned about America's contemporary culture and its role in an "increasingly unstable" world from his experiences touring around the globe in a successful band.
The frontman said that the book deals with "just how batsh*t crazy my country is right now, in good ways and in bad ways." He added: "It's going to deal with everything from politics to social commentary. It's going to piss off a lot of people in my country, but everyone else will love it." Read more here.
Andy Biersack Speaks Out About On-Flight Altercation With Wife(TeamRock)
Black Veil Brides vocalist Andy Biersack and his wife Juliet Simms have commented on the on-flight altercation they were involved in at the weekend.
Simms - who was a runner-up on the US version of The Voice in 2012 - had been drinking in first-class on the American Airlines flight from Charlotte, North Carolina to Los Angeles when she and Biersack got into an argument - which resulted in her getting taken away by the FBI upon landing.
One witness, adult star Mary Carey, claimed in a video that Simms screamed that she "I lost my baby last week" during the drunken row. Now the couple confirm the "tragic" news that she'd had a miscarriage - though Simms says they'll try again in future.
Biersack says: "We are currently home and safe and trying to emotionally recover from all of this. The unfortunate event itself compounded with online stories and videos, show an isolated but difficult moment for my wife and I encourage you to read her statement on her Instagram regarding the situation - as I feel it is best that any information comes from her directly.
"Many of you know that I recently decided to live entirely sober. In the past, I struggled with the concept of alcohol and my own personal demons, and so a year ago I decided it was time to move on from it and start down the path to sobriety. I believe alcohol is one of the most poisonous and volatile substances we as a society have at our disposal and that it can truly hurt and affect people in the most negative way." A new update for Apple's iOS operating system includes David Bowie emojis. The iOS 10.2 update comes complete with a new range of emojis, including male and female characters complete with Bowie's iconic Aladdin Sane lightning bolt facepaint.
They are part of a profession selection that includes firefighters, painters, doctors, scientists, pilots, and others. Users will be able to make the David Bowie emojis shrug their shoulders, cross their fingers and even face palm.
A compilation featuring the singles of David Bowie is to be released next month. Titled Legacy, the collection will include a selection of the late icon's most popular tracks including Space Oddity, Ashes To Ashes, Ziggy Stardust, Heroes and The Jean Genie. Read more here.
Chiodos Break Up Confirmed By Craig Owens(Metal Hammer)
Craig Owens has confirmed that Chiodos have split up. Their last studio album was 2014's Devil, but the vocalist reports that they decided to call it a day as they "just couldn't stay afloat."
Owens tells Billboard: "It's done - it just couldn't stay afloat. There were just kind of, not necessarily bad vibes, but we came to the realization that we can't do it full-time.
"I think it just stopped becoming a passion for all of us, so we said, 'All right, let's stop.'" But while Owens has ended one chapter of his career, he's started another - announcing new project BXC, aka badXchannels.
He's been working with Panic! At The Disco producer Erik Ron for the last 18 months, with the band's debut EP WHYDFML out on November 18. Watch a video for the track One Car Funeral here.
Judas Priest Guitarist Reveals Band's Album and Tour Plans(hennemusic)
Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner has revealed a status update on the band's follow-up to 2014's "Redeemer Of Souls," during an interview with Sweetwater Sound's Mitch Gallagher.
"We've just been in the studio for a couple of months putting songs together," Faulkner says . "We haven't started the recording process yet, but we're recording demos; we're recording songs that work without the production to save them, if you know what I mean. But the core value… We're putting down some grassroots ideas and fleshing them out for the next Priest record.
"So we're gonna go into the studio to start recording in January. So it should be out sometime next year. But we're not touring next year. So we're gonna be touring, hopefully, in 2018." Check out the full interview here.
Alter Bridge Announce North American Tour(hennemusic)
Alter Bridge have announced the dates for an early 2017 tour of North America that they will be launching in support of their latest album, "The Last Hero."
The month-long run opens January 21 in Mobile, AL with shows scheduled to late February in Seattle, WA. Presale tickets for most shows start November 2 at 10:00 AM local time, with general public seats available November 4 at 10:00 AM local time.
Alter Bridge recently debuted their fifth album, "The Last Hero", at No. 8 on the US Billboard 200 with opening week sales of 28,000 units (27,000 in traditional album sales). See the tour dates here.
Underoath Announce 2017 Rebirth Tour Dates(Metal Hammer)
Underoath have confirmed 10 lives dates across the UK and Ireland. They'll hit the road in May 2017 on the Rebirth Tour after reuniting earlier this year following their split in 2013 - where they'll showcase two of their best-loved albums.
Frontman Spencer Chamberlain reports: "I'm so excited to come back to the UK, playing They're Only Chasing Safety and Define The Great Line back-to-back every night.
"I never thought in a million years we'd get this band back together with the lineup from those records. We can't wait to hang out with everyone and play some rock shows."
Their comeback earlier this year sparked a run of North American dates. "We wouldn't have got back together just to do a tour, I want to make that clear to everyone," Chamberlain said. "Underoath is not back to just rake in a bunch of money and go, 'Peace out.'
"We decided that we're a family. There's no point to put an end to something, unless a member is dead or something like that has happened. Underoath is back together? Yes. Will there be more tours Probably, absolutely, 100% in my mind.
"Will there be more records? I would hope so. But right now we're focused on this tour, being a family, getting along and taking it day by day." See the dates here.
Papa Roach Stream New Song 'Crooked Teeth'(Metal Hammer)
Papa Roach have released an online stream of their new song "Crooked Teeth." They launched a Pledgemusic scheme to fund the follow-up to 2015's F.E.A.R in the spring - offering to sell their Sacramento studio and its contents if someone comes up with $600,000.
Though they've not given many further details regarding the album title or release date, they shared the new song with the caption: "Crooked Teeth 2017."
Papa Roach say: "You know a new Papa Roach album is in the works. We've teamed up with PledgeMusic to offer you an early experience like none other - including some really cool and unique things that we hope you'll enjoy."
They also tell potential Pledgers: "Not only will you get a digital download of the album when it comes out, you'll hear streams of new songs, videos of us recording in the studio, pics of us at home and much, much more. You'll be fully immersed in this album with us." Listen to the song here.
Korn Go Behind-The-Scenes Of 'Take Me' Video(Metal Hammer)
Korn have released a video giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of their promo for Take Me. They released the Take Me video last month. The song is taken from Korn's 12th album The Serenity Of Suffering, which is out now on Roadrunner Records.
In the behind-the-scenes clip, frontman Jonathan Davis says: "We had this crazy set built. I'm in some crazy-ass lab detoxing. My band's watching but they can't do anything.
"I'm performing the song and the band's looking at me like there's nothing they can do to help me, and I've just gotta deal with it. It's gonna be pretty cool."
The director of the Take Me video Andrew Baird and editor Nick Pizzillo also give their insight on the work that went into creating the promo. Baird say: "It's like trying to visualise a feeling and a mood of going through the final stages of addiction, detox and surrender. It's very symbolic and open to interpretation.
"It's Jonathan's experiences with the substance and we flick back and forth between how the substance abuse and addiction affects the person." Watch the making of clip here.
Avenged Sevenfold's 'Voltaic Oceans' Made Up By Chris Jericho(Metal Hammer)
Chris Jericho has revealed how he and M Shadows plotted to keep the release of Avenged Sevenfold's new album a secret. The Fozzy frontman and WWE wrestler appeared to accidentally leak the title and release date of the seventh Avenged Sevenfold album.
His Instagram post led to speculation that the record would be called Voltaic Oceans and that it would launch on December 9. In fact, the album is titled The Stage and it was 'sneak released' last week.
Jericho admits that his Instagram post was a deliberate attempt to throw people off the scent of the album's actual release details. On his Talk Is Jericho podcast, he says: "It worked so perfectly, we fooled everybody. We were the masters of puppets pulling the strings for all of the media and throwing everybody off the scent of The Stage.
"I just posted this Deathbat with December 09, 2016, and then I put a hashtag of 'voltaicoceans' which people were then deciding that would be the name of the record - 'Voltaic Oceans is out December 9, 2016.'
"And then I pulled it a couple hours later after posting it and suddenly it went viral. I made up the whole thing. Voltaic Oceans, I just made it up." Read more here.
Guns N' Roses Now Very Focused And Intense Says Fortus(Classic Rock)
Guitarist Richard Fortus says that he has rehearsed more with Guns N' Roses in the past year than the previous 14 years. He made the revelation in a new video interview for Gretch.
The axeman left his role in the Dead Daisies alongside keyboard player Dizzy Reed in January to join Guns N' Roses at their Las Vegas and Coachella comeback shows - before they later announced their Not In This Lifetime world tour.
He tells Gretsch: "I've rehearsed more in this last year with that band than I have in the previous 14 years put together. It's been really intense, and very focused, and a great learning experience, as well as a great honour to play with those guys."
Last year, Fortus said the band would release new material for the first time since 2008's full-length _Chinese Democracy._ Axl Rose later confirmed he'd presented his Guns N' Roses bandmates Slash and Duff McKagan with new material. here.
Marilyn Manson Reveals Inspiration For Say10 Album Title(Metal Hammer)
Marilyn Manson reveals that the inspiration for the title of his upcoming 10th album Say10 comes from an idea he had when he attended a Christian school.
The shock rocker will release Say10 on February 14 next year and previously said it will sound "not very much in any way" like his previous effort, 2015's The Pale Emperor.
Now he has revealed the origins of the title and says it "is very political, socially and sexually." Manson tells the Los Angeles Times: "My next album's called Say10, like Satan. I found that title in my 12th-grade yearbook at Christian school. It goes back that far.
"The record is very political, socially and sexually. It deals with things I've talked about a lot but may not have sung enough. I work best when I combine imagery and words, rather than just words alone." here.
Dweezil Zappa Says Family Trying To Trademark The Name Zappa(Prog)
Dweezil Zappa says the Zappa Family Trust is planning to trademark the name Zappa - effectively banning him from performing under his own name.
Dweezil - the son of the late Frank Zappa - has been involved in a long-running dispute with the Zappa Family Trust (ZFT) over trademarks and music licensing surrounding his performances of his father's music.
His live show was originally called Zappa Plays Zappa, but he had to change it to Dweezil Zappa Plays Frank Zappa when the ZFT objected. Further intervention by the ZFT saw him perform under the banners of Dweezil Zappa Plays Whatever The F*** He Wants and Dweezil Zappa: Cease And Desist.
Now he claims the ZFT want to stop him using the name Zappa altogether and he has asked fans to contribute to a crowdfunding campaign to help him fund a legal battle over the rights.
Dweezil also claims the ZFT want to use his father's name to market branded "beer, wine and yoga pants." Addressing the audience at an October 28 show at The Warehouse in Fairfield, Connecticut, Dweezil says: "Now they are very intent to do something that is probably the most ridiculous thing ever. They have actually filed for a federal trademark for the surname Zappa on it's own, so that they can prevent me from using it for live concert entertainment or personal appearances, effectively making me only be allowed to exist as 'Dweezil'." Obituary Finish Recording New Album And Eye March Release(Metal Hammer)
Obituary's 10th studio album is sounding "brutal" according to guitarist Trevor Peres. He says they wrapped up studio sessions before embarking on their current European tour with Exodus, with the band hoping to release the follow-up to 2014's Inked In Blood in early 2017.
He tells The Breathless Sleep: "Our new album is going to come out in March. We just finished recording before this tour started. There's some leads that still have to be finished.
"So the actual title - we haven't made a decision what to title the album yet. I think there's going to be eleven songs on the album, including Ten Thousand Ways To Die."
He admits coming up with material that'll resonate with fans is becoming harder, but says their approach remains the same. Peres adds: "Compared to Inked In Blood, as far as composing and stuff, it's always the same, as far as how we structure or start writing a song - it always kind of has been, from day one."
