(Classic Rock) Randy Blythe has been freed from prison in the Czech Republic, a spokeswomen for the Prague Court has confirmed.

However, under legal proceedings in the former Soviet nation prosecutors can object to a suspect's freedom, which happened in his case. Although objections were not accepted, his bail was raised to $400,000. This again was paid, but another objection was lodged. more on this story
Incubus Going On Hiatus
(Gibson) It's hard to ignore that Incubus have a ton of fans that came up during the band's zenith in the late-'90s and early-2000s. That said, anyone gunning to see the guys live may want to try extra hard to catch the band on their upcoming Honda Civic Tour with Linkin Park, as Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd says the guys are planning to take an extended hiatus right after the tour wraps.
"As far as Incubus right now, we'll probably take another break," Boyd told Billboard regarding Incubus' post-Civic Tour plans. "Hopefully it won't be as long [as the five-year wait between If Not Now, When? and Light Grenades] but what we'd like to do is arrive with the best of intentions and try to create music from a sense of urgency as well as purity and not necessarily based on a schedule."
Boyd also added that he might release a second solo album during Incubus' impending break. If you're worried that means the end of Incubus, it's not. Boyd says Incubus plan to work on new music during their break, so while the hiatus "can be frustrating for our listeners and stuff, but I think we'll make better music as a result," he said. more on this story
Queensryche Deny Using Tapes Of Tate Live

Led Zeppelin Artist Dies
(Classic Rock) Classic Rock has learned of the death of cover artist Zacron, real name Richard Drew, best known as the sleeve designer for Led Zeppelin III. Drew died in January this year from bowel cancer but his estranged family have only just learned of his passing.
Zacron was born in Sutton, Surrey in 1943, and studied with Eric Clapton and members of the Yardbirds at Kingston College of Art between 1957-60. During this time he met fellow art student Jimmy Page and the pair reconnected in 1969 when Zacron was commissioned to do the sleeve for III. The artist took four months to complete the distinctive sleeve, featuring a rotating cardboard disc that revealed different images through holes in the sleeve as it was turned. The idea originated with Jimmy Page (based on a crop rotation volvelle) but the guitarist has since commented that he thought the finished product "very teeny-bopperish".
In 2007, Zacron designed the cover of Classic Rock's special issue dedicated to the Led Zeppelin reunion and talked through the genesis and meaning of the album cover. See it here.
Bad English Singer Slams Former Journey Bandmates
(Classic Rock) John Waite insists he'd rather shoot himself than sound like Journey, which he described as "super-white music".
And the singer is adamant there will be no reunion of Bad English, the band he formed with Journey men Neal Schon, Deen Castronovo and Jonathan Caine.
Waite is happy with his relatively low-key solo career and has no desire to return to the supergroup he co-formed in 1988 and split in 1991. "I think it's garbage," He tells Metal Sludge. "I hate to say it, but I listen to Journey and think, 'That is just wrong.' That's why there will never be a Bad English reunion." more on this story

Judas Priest Preview Screaming Release
(hennemusic) Judas Priest fans are about a month away from the release of an expanded, 30th Anniversary edition of the band's 1982 set, "Screaming For Vengeance" and the band is giving them a preview.
The project will feature not only the remastered original album plus bonus tracks, but also a live DVD from the 1983 US Festival show, filmed in San Bernadino, CA on May 29, 1983.
The "Screaming For Vengeance – Special 30th Anniversary Edition" live DVD was filmed at the second, and what turned out to be last, US Festival in 1983. Headlined by Van Halen, Sunday was the Heavy Metal Day, billed as "the day new wave died and rock 'n' roll took over." It set the single-day concert attendance record for the U.S. with an estimated 375,000 people.
"On the day that we performed, we flew in by helicopter — and the first sight we saw was that of thousands of abandoned cars piled up around the crests of the hills that surrounded the festival arena, which as we went over took our breath away," said Priest in a statement. "For there, below us, spread throughout hundreds of acres was a massive crowd — over three hundred thousand strong! The summer heat was raging and combined with the hot Santa Ana winds made for a scorching metal furnace on stage." Watch a preview here.

Dylan tells Rolling Stone: "It's not very truthful. But a songwriter doesn't care about what's truthful. What he cares about is what should have happened, what could have happened. That's its own kind of truth.
"It's like people who read Shakespeare plays, but they never see a Shakespeare play – I think they just use his name."
Tempest, Dylan's 35th studio album, is released on September 11. A long clip from the track Early Roman Kings is to be used in TV series Strike Back. Check it out here.

Anchor & Brail Singled Out Week: Goes Without Saying
Anberlin's lead singer Stephen Christian's released the new Anchor & Brail album "Quiet Life," this week. Today Stephen tells us about the song "Goes Without Saying":
Kevin and Micah (the co-production team) sat me down near the end of pre production and told me that did not feel we had a complete record, they needed a few more songs to round out the moment. They wanted an upbeat song in the vain of the others on the record and felt that that would be the missing puzzle piece to the record.
I drove straight home and sat down at my piano, inspiration struck immediately. Realize that inspiration never strikes me; it's more like a slow moving sloth that catches up to me when I sleep. This 'lighting in a bottle' moment just hit that night; I started to play the main melody line on the piano and the chords just followed.
I had the song in delivered to them the next morning and both agreed that it was their favorite song on the record. For me personally it is my favorite song on the record musically. The additional percussion and eerie guitar movements make me want to listen to it over and over.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Sly's bandmate Matt Riddle, broke the news to fans via the group's Facebook page on Wednesday. He wrote:
"i've learned over the years there's really no right way to talk about this stuff. i was kind of hoping it wouldn't get out so fast for his family's sake but it's a little late for that now. i see that this news has gotten around pretty fast. so i wanted to tell you all personally that this morning i found out that yesterday tony passed away. i'm not sure of all the details yet, and i don't think that's really important. what's important is i lost a great friend and you lost a great songwriter. i've been playing with him for 15 years? 16? i haven't processed it yet. i've been on the phone all day with friends and family. i'm not looking forward to it sinking in. i'm worried sick for his wife and kids. i knew tony very well and he would definitely want to thank you for all the love and support for both no use and his solo career. if this doesn't sound like a professional statement, it's because it's not. it's just me venting and i wanted to let you guys know personally." more on this story
Terror Cancel Czech Show Due To Randy Blythe Arrest
The band Terror is standing in solidarity with Lamb of God's Randy Blythe, who is imprisoned on manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic following the death of a stage diving fan at one of their concerts. As a result, Terror have now canceled their upcoming concert in the country.
The band explains: "Terror is going to cancel their show in the Czech Republic this month. We feel obligated to stand up for Randy Blythe. This situation seems to be taken too lightly. Randy comes from punk and hardcore roots, just like Terror. He still supports underground music and has always supported Terror-- even singing on stage alongside us when we play Richmond. This hits really close to home for us having members of the band and our crew from the hometown of Lamb Of God."
"We love our Czech fans very much and have amazing shows there, but we need to 'stick tight' to our friend Randy, which is why we have chosen to cancel the show. As a band that could easily be in this same position at any given show, we don't think we can play there and act like this is OK - it isn't."
"This is bigger than a hashtag or a clever t-shirt-- we as a community need to take action and speak up. Free Randy Blythe." more on this story

Johnny Winter Fights Back Against His Demons
(Classic Rock Revisited) Johnny Winter found a guardian angel in his manager, producer and rhythm guitarist Paul Nelson. In only six years, Nelson has taken a rock icon that had damaged himself with drugs and alcohol, to the brink of death, and rebuilt both the man and his career.
Johnny Winter's triumphant return can be heard on his new CD Roots. "It was very important for Johnny to do great on this album," states Nelson. "Johnny is off the drugs and the drinking, and all of the stuff that he was on for all of those years."
Winter admits he is surprised he was able to change, "Heroin was the hardest thing that I ever had to go through. It was worth it to go through it and get clean. I am not taking any drugs and I am not drinking. I am not smoking cigarettes anymore and I am not doing anything bad. I never thought this would be possible. I never thought I would see the day that I didn't have any vices at all."
Nelson took over as that artist's manager and made immediate changes that made it possible for Winter to begin to recover from decades of abuse. "I had to wait, wait and wait until he was primed and ready. Johnny had just gotten off methadone about a year before. Once he got off that, then his voice got stronger, and his playing got stronger, and it was time to record. The music doesn't lie. That is why this is so important; this album had to be strong." A death in the family is never easy to deal with and we hope they all get to spend this time with their loved ones as we continue onward to perform at the remaining dates without Slaves. We hope that we can join forces with them again in the future, and until then we wish them all the best in the world." more on this story

Aerosmith Recruit Special Guests For New Album

Music From Another Dimension is set to be released on November 6, having been pushed back from its initial release date of August 28. But aside from the five bad boys from Boston, the album will also feature a couple of guest appearances by, among others, Julian Lennon and Johnny Depp.
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler met Lennon while working on American Idol, and he got Lennon to sing harmony vocals on the track "Love Three Times a Day." Tyler told Rolling Stone "He's such a sweet f---ing guy, and he's John's first son with that voice and sense of humor – gimme a break!"
Depp is no stranger to the world of music, having played slide guitar on the Oasis song "Fade In-Out," and playing guitar for the band P in the mid-'90s. Depp contributes backing vocals to the song "Freedom Fighter," which may not be on the official album, but rather as a bonus track according to Joe Perry. more on this story

(Gibson) Bloc Party have made comments to the effect that they may be calling it quits after finishing their touring duties behind their new album, Four. In fact, Bloc Party singer and rhythm guitarist Kele Okereke thought the band was done after touring behind their last album, Intimacy.
According to NME.com, Okereke told Australia's Triple J magazine: "When we took a break in 2009 I was in the mindset that we were done, our relationships were in such a difficult place that this was it, this was the end." Okereke added, "I don't know where we'll go from here. I don't know what will happen. But I know if this is the last thing we ever do, then we've done everything I wanted to do."
Two tracks from Four have seen the light of day so far: "Octopus" and "Day Four." "Octopus" is driven by an infectious clean guitar riff, while "Day Four" is more of a mellow and melodic affair. more on this story

Motorhead Were Also Blamed For Fan Injured At Concert
(Classic Rock) Motorhead drummer Mikkey Dee says his band were once chased in an attempt to blame them for an injury sustained by a fan who decided to jump from a balcony while they played.
It's a similar situation to the current ordeal of Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe, who's been behind bars in Prague since June. Blythe remains in jail without charge in the Czech Republic having paid $200,000 bail – which was later doubled – a month ago. He was arrested in connection with an incident in 2010 when fan Daniel Nosek voluntarily invaded Lamb of God's stage several times, during which he may have sustained the head injury which led to his death four weeks later.
"One guy years ago threw himself from the second floor in a theatre and ended up breaking his back on one of the seats," Dee tells Artisan News. "And they came after us for that."
And he says Motorhead have their own experience of the legal system in the Czech Republic
Muse Reveal Some New Album Details
(Gibson) Muse have revealed the artwork for their sixth album The 2nd Law, which is due to hit stores on September 18. The artwork features a map of brain pathways in neon colors.
The album title reportedly refers to the second law of thermodynamics, the study of the relations between heat and other forms of energy.
Muse are known for their unconventional approach to rock music, with singer and guitarist Matt Bellamy playing the most outlandish guitar riffs with the help of various effect processors, like for example the outlandish riff in their 2006 song "Map of the Problematique."
On The 2nd Law , the band is apparently even taking things a step further and delving in to dubstep on one of the tracks. See the artwork here.
Queensryche Break Out Rarities For Debut Gig With New Singer
(Gibson) The new lineup of Queensryche played their first official gig over the weekend, pulling out some vintage classics as well as a few rarely played deep cuts at the Halfway Jam in Minnesota.
The band recently parted ways with singer Geoff Tate after 31 years, amid claims of frustration at the direction the band had taken. Tate contends that his former bandmates weren't submitting ideas and had never spoken up to say they weren't happy with how things were going. QueensrĂżche claims, among other things, that their ideas were being brushed aside in favor of outside writers. The conflict became physical in Brazil in May, with Tate being fired in June. The matter is before the courts but for now, QueensrĂżche have upheld the right to continue to use the band name for now.
Some QueensrĂżche fans are thrilled with the decision to hire Todd La Torre on vocals and to focus on QueensrĂżche's harder-hitting material. Others are concerned that without Tate, the band will lose much of its theatric edge. And they have a point: previous QueensrĂżche tours have included actors playing parts from Operation: Mindcrime; a mock bar for the performance of the epic title track to the Promised Land album; and of course the notorious QueensrĂżche Cabaret tour, which saw the band performing with dancers, jugglers, contortionists and drag queens. more on this story

Mike Oldfield Hopes For Resurgence of Music By Musicians Not Computers
(Classic Rock) Mike Oldfield hopes his Olympic performance of Tubular Bells marks a resurgence of instrumental rock music and that it might herald an end to the era of computer music.
The veteran composer appeared as part of the sport event's opening ceremony, delivering a part of his iconic 1973 work in a segment which hailed the UK's National Health Service.
Oldfield says he felt a "glow of pride" when director Danny Boyle invited him to be part of the show – and it was a refreshing contrast to the negative energy he received in the punk era. "Hopefully it will inspire some kind of renaissance in instrumental rock music." he says. "Let's throw away all the computer software. You just get a load of software and click a few buttons. You don't have to have the slightest bit of musical talent." more on this story

Marilyn Manson, Lou Reed and Neil Young Teepee Tale Part Of Billy Corgan Book
(Gibson) Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has spoken to Australia's Channel Seven about the memoir he is writing. He hinted at stories involving Marilyn Manson, Lou Reed and Neil Young.
When asked about his celebrity encounters, Corgan balked about saying too much on the breakfast TV show but said: "I'll put in the slight plug, I'm writing a book that does reveal some of those stories."
He continued, "It's sometimes hard to tell those stories out of context because, during times of drug and drink, there was a lot of crazy stuff that went on. I'll give you a perfect example, I'll give you something that doesn't give anything away.
"I was at Neil Young's house once – a beautiful, incredible house out in Northern California. And he had a teepee, a real, legitimate Native American teepee. So, in the teepee there was myself, Marilyn Manson, Lou Reed, Neil Young, probably like Harvey Keitel or something. You can imagine that round table." Let's hope Corgan remembers if it was "probably" Keitel or "definitely" Keitel. If he can't, his story may lack gravitas? more on this story

Anchor & Brail Singled Out Week: Knew Then Know Now
Anberlin's lead singer Stephen Christian's released the new Anchor & Brail album "Quiet Life," this week. Today Stephen tells us about the song "Knew Then Know Now":
My brother and I once wrote a song for my sister upon high school graduation, honestly it was a really good song. It was a 'the world is yours go find it' type of song. I wanted to continue in that vein and approach this song as motivational song to try to show people that they do not have to be a slave to their circumstances or past. We are not our fathers or mothers, we are not what we came out of; we can stop the forward progression of apathy and change it.
I constantly think about all the decision I had to make in early high school, I remember feeling how heavy they were, how weighty. But now I look back on those 'hard times' and laugh. I would give anything for the lack of responsibility and carefree moments that those formidable years exude. The funny thing is that I believe in 20 years from now I will look back at these times and laugh at how good I had it. In other words our personal circumstances may feel insurmountable right this second but in time we will see that life simple works out the way it should.
These are some of the best lyrics on the record, so I felt inclined to include them:
KNEW THEN KNOW NOW
Life is beautiful open your eyes whether you see it believe it or not
It's not somewhere out there; it's them by your side, its here in today its there in your smile
Take all of it in, let it all go, where you end up well nobody knows
dance like you care, act like you don't. if life wants to drowned well pretend that you float
if I knew then what I know now
I would tell tell myself again
life works out the way it should
if I could go back in time awhile
I would tell myself to rest awhile
don't worry about all the have been what could
life works out the way it should
life is here and gone, no one denies, we live we learn we love then we die
so while were still young lets take on the town lets travel the world follow the sun don't quit till we're there, I know it seems long but this road only takes those who are still strong feeling the wind brushing your face this is a freefall not a human race.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
Metallica Show Off New Live Special Effects With 9 Minute Video
(Banana 101.5) Metallica's eight-concert run in Mexico City has begun at the Palacia de los Deportes. A video of the 'best effects' during the opening show on Saturday, July 28 is now available.
The nine minute clip includes shots of various pyro and lighting effects, including what appeared to be stagehands catching on fire.
During 'Enter Sandman,' a flare malfunctioned, and two stagehands examining it were engulfed in flames. The show was stopped while the fire was extinguished and the crew members were taken off the stage on stretchers. The horrifying event apparently was all a stunt, as a spokesman for the promoter described it as "part of the show." Watch it here.
KISS For Tots Preview
(hennemusic) Rockabye Baby!, which transforms timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies, will release "Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions Of Kiss" on August 28.
"Rockabye Baby" was developed by Van Halen singer David Lee Roth's sister Lisa Roth, in conjunction with CMH Records. The series includes collections made from the songs of artists like AC/DC, Metallica, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, The Beatles, and many others.
Here's the KISS album description: "There will never be a better show opener than 'Detroit Rock City'. 'Beth' is the gold standard for power ballads. And 'Rock And Roll All Nite' is the quintessential rock 'n' roll national anthem. Given Rockabye's kid-tested, parent-approved lullaby treatment, these KISS Klassics are as alive as ever — just as thrilling when xylophones and bells replace Ace Frehley's Gibson Les Paul and Gene Simmons' demonic snarl. Except come bedtime, junior won't be able to keep partying into the 'nite;' these lullabies will have him counting a veritable KISS Army of sheep."

Today's Day In Rock News!
Killing Joke's Jaz Coleman Missing
(Classic Rock) Killing Joke say they're concerned for the welfare of frontman Jaz Coleman, who's gone missing after insulting the Cult online.
KJ, The Cult and The Mission were due to tour the UK together in September. But earlier this month a Facebook post, believed to be by Coleman, stated his band wouldn't take part.
Now Killing Joke members Geordie Walker, Martin 'Youth' Glover and Paul Ferguson report they haven't heard from Coleman since that announcement. The band say: "A statement was posted on Facebook, reputedly by our singer, maligning both The Cult and The Mission and pulling us out of the shows. Metal Show Halted Over Threat of Violence
(Classic Rock) A rock concert in Florida featuring Job For A Cowboy was halted last night after venue owners were warned a member of the audience was armed and planning to shoot and stab people.
The Summer Slaughter tour stop at the Ritz in Tampa was suspended for two hours when police were called to investigate. No one was injured during the incident.
Officers evacuated the venue and searched fans for weapons before allowing the event to continue. "A note was passed to the bartender stating that during our set a man with two knives and a gun was going to hurt people," Job For A Cowboy drummer Jon 'Charn' Rice told Blabbermouth . "Cops were called, and after the proper precautions were taken the show set off again, albeit a bit behind. No one was hurt and everyone involved is safe." more on this story

The couple found themselves behind bars in Indiana at the weekend, charged with domestic battery in front of a child. Benante's head was bandaged when his police booking photo was taken.
They return to court on Friday, where the drummer's representative, William L Hotopp, says his client will be vindicated. The lawyer explains: "Last Friday Charlie was assaulted several times during an altercation that sent him to the emergency room with a gash at the back of his head that required several staples to close." Back To The Future For Van Halen
(Classic Rock) Wolfgang Van Halen tried to push dad Eddie back into his seventies state of mind before the band began working on recent album A Different Kind of Truth.
The young bassist believed his father, David Lee Roth and Alex Van Halen could create material as good as their early work if they could be reminded how they used to think.
"I wanted to remind my dad of the mindset he was in when he wrote songs like Runnin' With The Devil and Dance The Night Away," Wolfgang tells Guitar World. "I thought recording those old songs would make it easier for Dad, Dave and Al to put their minds where they were back then, and get back to writing how they would have then." He had a lot more to say.
Arctic Monkeys Score A Hit With Beatles Cover
(Gibson) If you didn't catch Friday's Summer Olympics opening ceremony in London (directed by Danny Boyle), you missed quite a show: James Bond and the Queen parachuting down to the stadium, Mr. Bean nearly screwing up a performance of "Chariots of Fire" and the legendary Paul McCartney bringing the house down.
But the musical moment that appears to have garnered the most attention was Arctic Monkeys' version of The Beatles' "Come Together". The live performance – led by frontman Alex Turner on vocals and a pretty Les Paul – is currently sitting at #14 on the iTunes download chart, according to NME.
In addition, Boyle's soundtrack to the whole ceremony (featuring songs by The Rolling Stones, the Sex Pistols, The Jam, Muse, Queen and more) is currently at #1 on the iTunes album charts in Great Britain, Spain, France and Belgium. It has hit #5 in the U.S. Check out video of the cover here.

Jane's Addiction Plan New Album and Lollapalooza Expansion
(Gibson) Jane's Addiction plan to hit the notepads for a new album as soon as they wrap up the current round of touring in support of their latest, The Great Escape Artist.
Vocalist Perry Farrell tells LocalBozo.com the band is already planning the writing phase for the next record. "I'd like to give it a six-month window and just get another Jane's record out, coming off the heels of The Great Escape Artist," Farrell said. "I think that's the way to do it for us. I don't think we'll wait eight years to do another record."
Farrell went on to say that after 2003's Strays, the band had no intention of recording another album. "We didn't plan on getting back together," he said. "We had broken up. That was part of the reason that we took so long, but these days, the best thing that an artist can do or a group can do is stay busy and stay on the trail. And that's what our plan is."
Farrell also dropped the tantalizing teaser that the Lollapalooza festival – which he founded as a farewell festival for Jane's Addiction's first breakup back in 1991 – will soon announce another new location. more on this story
Queensryche Battle Goes Digital
(Classic Rock) Geoff Tate is continuing to block his former bandmates from accessing the Queensryche website and social media channels, they say.
And the singer's representative argues that a court ruling allowing them to continue using the band name means he can do the same – raising the suggestion there could be two outfits operating under the title.
The band played their first show with new singer Todd La Torre at the weekend. But they say they've been forced to launch a new website because Tate won't give them access to their old one. more on this story
Rick Rubin Changed Linkin Park's Approach To Recording
(Gibson) Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson says the band's new album, Living Things, came together at lightspeed compared to their previous, much more drawn-out creative efforts.
In an interview for Beat magazine to be published on August 1, Delson told me the band started writing Living Things during a break between tour legs for 2010's A Thousand Suns, so by the time they'd finished the previous album cycle they had a wealth of ideas to work from. "I think sonically or maybe in terms of song approach this album is very different from A Thousand Suns, and part of that was the inspiration of doing something in contrast to what we'd just done," Delson said. "That's what makes the studio so fun. There are no rules."
Delson said producer Rick Rubin suggested one particular change in the band's working methods that had a profound difference on the outcome. "One thing that Rick would encourage us to do is to put vocals on it right away. That helps us to know if the content is good. Is this song in its barebones form a good song? Whereas our method of working on our first two albums was almost entirely music-focused first, and then the vocals would go last. People say, 'Is there a message in the album?' and it's like, 'I don't know! We don't even know what we just said! We don't even know what we just played!' In fact, we make the songs in such a postmodern way that when it's time to prepare for our tours we literally have to learn how to perform the songs for the first time." more on this story

Wolves In The Throne Room Going On Hiatus
Wolves In The Throne Room assure fans that they are not breaking up, but are instead putting the band on hiatus.
"After months of journeying we're settled back into our life at home. Soft, warm breezes, the calls of Ravens and Eagles, the scent of Cedar and Salt Water. The Northwest Summer is a soothing balm to the stresses and strains of the road and the alchemic pressure-cooker of the recording studio. But it has been a great two years for us. We are so proud of Celestial Lineage, and our tours in the United States and Europe were inspiring and full of good experiences.

Singled Out: Hyro Da Hero's Sleeping Giants
Today Hyro Da Hero tells us about the new single "Sleeping Giants" from his brand new album "Birth, School, Work, Death," which hits stores today and features an all-star band backing him with members of Blood Brothers, At The Drive-In and Idiot Pilot. Here is the story:
Sleeping Giants is a special song to me. Its one if my most energetic, anti-authority, and uplifting songs on my album. A guaranteed mosh starter.
It has always been a dream of mine to work with Ross Robinson and when given the opportunity I stepped up to the mic with a vengeance. Having such an amazing band backing my record ( Mark and Cody from Blood Brothers, Paul from At the Drive-In, and Daniel from Idiot Pilot.) I wanted Sleeping Giants to be the loud gunshot to wake up this zombie like society we have today.
This is one of my first tracks to be recoded with Ross. I remember hearing so many crazy stories of Ross Robinson's recording process that i was a bit nervous. I soon found that to be true when he planned for me and him to do a 3 day fast before recording any vocals. Luckily he needed me to do a rough take before we both starved. Once I stepped up to the mic and started rapping the words to Sleeping Giants he was amazed. I remember him saying to skip the fast we are recording now. From that moment I rocked the mic and created my album Birth, School, Work, Death.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Today's Day In Rock News!
Metallica To Begin Work On New Album
(hennemusic) During a conference call with reporters this week to promote their upcoming headlining set at the Outside Lands festival, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich revealed the band's plans to begin a new album following the event.
"Pretty much when we're done with the [3D] movie [project] and with Outside Lands, which should all be wrapped up by early September," explained Ulrich, "We're gonna basically just concentrate on new music and try to get another Metallica record [done]."
As for new music, Ulrich says there's no shortage of inspiration. Every time James Hetfield picks up a guitar, there are some brilliant riffs that come out of it, and I try to make sure that they are all recorded and try to do my best to keep up with them and try to put some drums in behind them," he says. "So there are, obviously, tons of ideas sitting around waiting to be had at in terms of turning ideas of James' into songs." more on this story

Steven Tyler Replaced Drugs With Idol
(Classic Rock) Steven Tyler believes he became a judge on TV gameshow American Idol in order to replace the adrenaline buzz heroin used to give him.
The singer caused dissent among his Aerosmith bandmates when he announced he'd signed up to appear on the talent search series – because his 2009 stage fall followed by the admission he was back on drugs had nearly led to the band's collapse.
He thinks his drug habit cost him over $20m during the years he was a habitual user. But now that he's quit the show in order to concentrate on the band and their upcoming album Music From Another Dimension, he believes he needed the rush live TV offered him. more on this story

Eric's surgery involves micro-decompression in the lumbar region of the spine and will be performed in Los Angeles, California. Lamb Of God, Dethklok and Gojira Tour Canceled
Lamb Of God announced yesterday that their coheadlining tour with Dethklok, supported by Gojira, has been canceled because frontman Randy Blythe remains in jail in the Czech Republic on manslaughter charges that stem from a fan being injured during a concert by the band.
Lamb of God says: "The band regrets the decision but the uncertainty of Randy's release makes it impossible to carry on with the tour. Upon Randy's release, it is the band's intention to rebook a tour in the fall and at this time the band fully intends to participate in the Mayhem Cruise in December.
"Lamb Of God wishes to thank Dethklok, Adult Swim and Gojira for their support and patience as well as all of the promoters who had dates on the tour. Last but certainly not least, the band thanks all of the fans who bought tickets for the tour and who have been supportive of Randy and the band over the last month that Randy has been held in Prague. Joe Walsh Says James Gang is Alive and Well And Hope To Tour
(Gibson) Joe Walsh has revealed that the James Gang is not only "alive and well," but that the legendary trio will likely tour small venues in the not-too-distant future.
Speaking to M – Music & Musicians, the guitarist said, "I went to Cleveland and saw [drummer] Jimmy [Fox] and [bassist] Dale [Peters], and we played some together. It's great; we can still do it. The James Gang is alive and well.
"The first little window I get from my current project, and the Eagles, we'll probably go out as a three-piece. At some point we'll go out and play some small places. I don't think we should have a 'comeback' tour and I don't think we should try to fill 10,000-seat places. But in House of Blues and Hard Rock CafĂ© venues – those types of places – I think we would do great." more on this story

Hawkwind Fans Are Just Fine But Band Was Never Booked For Event
In a follow up to a story earlier this week we learn that Hawkwind fans are indeed desirable and there appears to be some kind of communication break down over an upcoming event, because the venue says that the band's appearance wasn't canceled, it was never booked. Conkers offered their side of the story on their website:
Space Rock legends Hawkwind have never been strangers to courting myth and legend, but the team here at CONKERS never thought they'd find themselves wrapped up in rumours surrounding the band. Imagine our surprise then when this week we start receiving emails and calls asking why we've cancelled Hawkwind from playing at CONKERS.
Sadly we've never booked Hawkwind to play at CONKERS, although we think this is a brilliant idea! If they happen to read this and find themselves 'In Search of Space' then please get in touch. We'd love to have you and think our covered amphitheatre would be the perfect space for a Hawkwind gig. more on this story

Science Proves Rock and Metal Fans Right About Pop Music
(Classic Rock) A scientific experiment has confirmed what rock and metal fans already knew: pop music is too loud and it all sounds the same.
Using an archive called the Million Song Dataset, researchers in Spain reduced pop songs from 1955 to 2010 into a series of numbers which were then analysed by a supercomputer.
After analysing the results, artificial intelligence expert Joan Serra concluded that recordings have become much louder over the years, while employing fewer combinations of musical notes.
Chart-fodder has also come to rely on a narrower set of instrument sounds as use of digital production increased over the years. more on this story
