Two Members Leave Boysetsfire
Boysetsfire announced yesterday that they have lost two members of the group, drummer Matt Krupanski and his brother Marc Krupanski who played bass.

Guitarist Chad Istvan first broke the news to fans about Matt's departure with the following posting on Facebook: "I've written and erased this announcement a number of times over the last few months. I can't say whether it's that I don't know the right way to approach what I'm saying or if the act of saying it gives a certain finality to the words but here goes...

"Matt Krupanski, long-time friend, will not be playing with us anymore. He has a number of incredible opportunities in his life right now and understandably will pursue them. It turns out when we saw him reading books with titles like "why buildings stand up" and "why buildings fall down" it was a lot more than just a vague interest in architecture, it was a new passion. Matt graduated from the Pratt institute last spring after 5(?) challenging years learning things that make ZERO sense to me and now he will put that knowledge to good use. more on this story

Fleetwood Mac's Buckingham Discusses Christine McVie's Burnt Bridges
(CBS Local) Fleetwood Mac has just announced dates for their 2013 tour which will consist of founding members Mick Fleetwood on drums and John McVie on bass, along with singer/guitarist/songwriter Lindsey Buckingham and singer/songwriter Stevie Nicks but not Christine McVie who lest the band after The Dance tour.

Would Fleetwood Mac ever welcome Christine to join them for a few of her classics? CBS Local put that question to Lindsey Buckingham. "Well, that's a good question! It's an odd thing for me, in many ways I'm having a better time in the band as a foursome, only because it opens up a range of things that I can do. Except for maybe 'Don't Stop,' we don't do a lot of her stuff. It opens up the amount of material we can play, it allows me to be more of a 'guy,' to be more of who I am up there," he explains, saying that without a keyboardist in the band, his guitar takes center stage. "I would be shocked if she ever expressed any interest to do anything with us. Shocked and pleased."

Christine has attended one Fleetwood Mac show since leaving the band (she declined to perform with them), but she hasn't had much contact with the group in the past decade. But Buckingham explains that she was going through a lot of life changes at that point. "She ended up getting a divorce, she ended up selling her house in L.A., she moved back to England, she quit the band, she sold her publishing," Buckingham said. "She didn't necessarily have to burn as many bridges as she did. Everyone sometimes wonders whether or not there might have been more of a middle ground for her to strike, not necessarily in terms of her staying in Fleetwood Mac. But she just wanted to reinvent herself. She seems to want to lead the antithesis of the life she led before, and I don't pretend to understand such a radical change but it was obviously something she needed." More from Lindsey here.

Jackson Browne InTheStudio For Running On Empty Anniversary
InTheStudio is celebrating the 35th anniversary of Jackson Browne's Running On Empty on the latest episode of the syndicated radio show. They sent over these details:

Jackson Browne remembers the concept for the album Running On Empty to program host Redbeard. "It wasn't called Running On Empty…But it was going to be a live album, with live versions of songs that had already been recorded, and new songs, and jams, and some of the hilarious things people say."

Coming off his solo breakthrough album The Pretender, the Southern California singer/songwriter suddenly found himself a single parent with a 3 year old son and a widower following the suicide of his wife. Conventional wisdom would assume that any one of these challenges alone could require an entertainer to put his or her career on hold indefinitely, yet Jackson Browne did exactly the opposite. He went on tour to work through his personal struggle and his creative pause, where the road offered a routine, structure and distance from the pain. Browne's idea to write and record on the road would garner two Top 20 singles, "The Load Out/Stay" and the # 11 charting title track "Running On Empty". Stream the episode here.

The film is due for release in cinemas in 2013, but if you want to be involved you'd better act quickly: the deadline for footage submissions is 11am on Thursday December 6. You can upload your footage at the film's website, www.springsteenandi.com - and obviously the higher the quality the better, but anything will be accepted for consideration, as long as it's under 5 minutes in length. more on this story

Singled Out: My Heart to Fear
Today My Heart to Fear lead singer Trevor Pool tells us about the song "Blood Money" from their brand new EP "Lost Between Brilliance and Insanity," which was released this week. Here is the story:

It was June of 2011 and we were on a three month tour up and down the coast of the good ol' USA. The tour manager had just informed us that a local church was going to house us for the night, and we were looking forward to finally washing ourselves in a shower rather than a carwash. We arrived at the church around noon after driving all through the night, but didn't know which building to go into. So after 20 minutes of awkwardly roaming around this rather large property, we finally found where we were supposed to be.

So, there we were all settled into our resting quarters, and I decided to take a stroll around the church lot for an hour or so. The foyer was this huge cross-section hallway that was about thirty feet tall on the inside and had marble floors and stone pillars. I walked around the place(s) a little more and find that each building was gargantuan as well. EVERY SINGLE DETAIL was expensive. There were showers in every bathroom, dressing rooms for the choir, closets the size of my living room that only hold the choir's robes, LED exit signs, bridal rooms, the sanctuary had five oversized plasma TV's just to show the words of the songs being sang, etc…etc…

So here it is. The moment where I anticipated to walk into the GIANT sanctuary to justify the giant church, right? Wrong. The maximum capacity (as listed on the wall of the upper part of the sanctuary) was 810. So just for benefit-of-the-doubt's sake, I told myself it was probably a college campus, homeless shelter, orphanage, or whatever could justify all of this non-sense. I walk up to one of the pastors on staff, and asked him what kinds of purposes the buildings served. I asked if they were for teaching, community service, or the like. His reply was a simple "Nope. S'just a church" I proceeded to ask if there was a large youth program and he interrupted me in mid-sentence saying "No, sir. It is only a church"

Now, our tour was sponsored by a charity organization known as "Compassion International," which has this program where you can feed, clothe, educate, and give medical attention to a needy child in another country for only thirty-eight dollars a month. So here I was thinking, if this church spent even a tenth of what they spent on these buildings and donated it to a charity like Compassion, literally an entire village-maybe an entire town- could be saved. Also, this whole story begs the question…is the blood of the children that could have been saved on the wealthy American church's hands?

All of this to say, I began immediately writing the first line to our newly made song, saying "Why do we paint the walls of our churches with the tears of the starving children?" I understand it's the easiest way to be controversial by writing a song against widely-understood corruption in the church, but we're not writing/releasing this song to be "edgy" or "controversial", we're releasing this song to not only bring this serious matter to attention, but also to disassociate the love of Jesus Christ from the acts of churches and people like these.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you watch the video here and learn more about the band and the EP right here!

Triple Play Q&A: Why Your Band Is A Virus
Last week we told you about James Moore releasing a new edition of his book "Your Band Is A Virus - Expanded Edition". Today we debut our new Triple Play Q&A series by asking James three direct questions to go a little deeper into what the book is all about:

antiMusic: What inspired you to write the book (and give away your secrets)?

James: Well, the main inspiration factor for me as a music lover has always been music with depth, whether that be Neil Young, Public Enemy, Rage Against the Machine, or Radiohead. I've taken that motto into my company, Independent Music Promotions, but I can only taken on so many artists. Getting into the educational side and writing books was a must, because if the information is made available, then the serious artists can choose to work with it and generate results. Lending a helping hand, or even providing a few pointers, to an up-and-coming artist who means what they say is inspiring to me. The book is mainly aimed at the artists with real passion and creativity/drive, and not ones who are looking to be a cookie cutter group or perhaps mold themselves into a commercial machine (those who want to be the next Nickelback, for example).

Yes, I decided in the end to share almost everything, as the underlying goal of the book was to provide the most comprehensive music marketing guide available period. That meant "selling the farm", so to speak. It's not really risky to reveal the tactics and have the market saturated, because only a small percent of artists will be dedicating the necessary hours to make it happen.

"He hadn't worked with them before, but here he is establishing his independence by doing this track without Chas [Chandler], and it yields this track called 'Somewhere'," Kramer says. "It's an amazing example of Jimi's control of the wah wah, the tone of the wah wah, how that affects the whole song. It projects itself through the track."

Kramer goes on to praise Hendrix's vocals on the track. "Jimi's vocal encapsulates this lovely softness in his voice," he says. "It's wonderful." Coheed and Cambria On Crash Concert Series
Coheed and Cambria are featured in the latest episode of Yahoo's Crash Concert Series.

This episode featured Coheed and Cambria performing their single "The Afterman" in what they describe as "guerrilla style" at New York's Comic Con.

Coheed and Cambria faced a 'superhuman' challenge in figuring out how to handle the acoustics and setup of the convention center -- they had no amps, no stage, no microphones, and a large and very loud moving crowd to overcome. The guys cheerfully took it on, terming it "guerrilla style" showmanship. Watch it here.

Coheed and Cambria will be releasing The Afterman: Descension, which is the second half of a double-album set, on February 5, 2013. The first half, The Afterman: Ascension, hit stores in October.

No Bragging Rights Release Repeater Video

Directed by veteran director Josh Knoff (As I Lay Dying, Asking Alexandria), NBR offers their support for our country's men and women enlisted in the armed forces and the struggles they deal with upon returning home.

Lead singer Mike Perez offers his thoughts: "I'm happy but not just because it's my favorite track off the album, but because of the message behind it. Also, I'm glad we went the soldier route. I don't think people understand the emotional strain some of them have to deal with when returning back to normal life." more on this story

The Who's Pete Townshend Pays Tribute To Mike Shaw and Chris Stamp
Pete Townshend has issued tributes to "two great and long-time friends of The Who" who passed away recently: Mike Shaw (The Who's first production manager) and Chris Stamp (helped break the group as their co-manager and also released the Jimi Hendrix Experience's first single and album through his Track Records label.)

Pete wrote these tributes: Chris Stamp wasn't just a good looking boy. He was tough, kind, creative and fun to be around. I can't think of anyone with whom it was better to brainstorm. For me, our best idea will always be THE WHO SELL OUT. We got so excited when we figured we could sell advertising space between tracks on our records. Why leave that income to radio stations and pop magazines? We weren't prepared for how irritated those guys would be with the idea. Chris was also very spiritually open, and later in his life focussed on the questions of the purpose of the soul. That said, he was never pious or pompous, never preachy. In his last days, despite terrible pain, we who were lucky enough to spend time with him, felt the presence of angels (or something like that) around him. There was a different kind of light in the room when he was fighting back at his cancer.

He had a wonderful life in his early and later years. The middle years, very much like my own, were tough partly because of his massive success. Track Records – which Chris ran for many years – had The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Marc Bolan and a dozen other big hit single successes. The Who's success in the USA brought us all great notoriety, and Chris was as hard living as the rest of us. But he found recovery many, many years before it came into vogue to do so in the music business, and as a result became like a kind of recovery guru in the New York area, loved and respected by hundreds of people he met in his work as a counsellor.

Roger became especially close to Chris in recent years, all past arguments and complaints forgotten. Love prevailed between them. I never lost touch with Chris because together we continued to be partners in Fabulous Music who published all the early Who music in the UK and Europe.

I will miss him, but remember him with real gratitude and pleasure – always.

Ozzy Hopes Not To Disappoint Black Sabbath Fans
(hennemusic) Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne spoke with a newspaper about the band's reunion album and how things are now different with the group.

"What's different now is that none of us get drunk or stoned or any of that stuff," Ozzy told The New Zealand Herald . "We're all clean, and all in control of ourselves, we're not intimidated by each other, there are no arguments, and it's the way it should be. But when we were kids we had egos. When you're 21 and you get some success it takes a while to get your head around. You have an ego, you have the spoils of success, the cars, the houses, the money, the alcohol, the drugs, the groupies, and all the rest of it, and if you go through all of that and you are lucky enough to survive you get married, you get divorced, you get married again, and it's a journey."

"But we've done it all so what it boils down to now is the music," explains Osbourne, "and that's what got us where we are in the first place. We have come through the other side, we're still able to work together, and that's where the enjoyment comes from. It's been a lot of fun making this record."

"It's been more than 30 years since I really seriously worked with the guys," adds Ozzy. "We had a try a few years back but nothing came of it. But for some reason the timing is right and we've done about 15 songs. Black Sabbath is very unique in the respect that nothing is formulated. It's very unpredictable. I just hope the people who have waited all these years aren't disappointed." more on this story

The idea of making a solo album was first encouraged by her husband, Blackmore's Night co-founder Ritchie Blackmore. "I had so many lyrics, so many ideas backing up," Night recently told Newsday, "and I came to Ritchie and said, 'I need more music. Give me more music. I want to put these to songs.' I really love listening to records front to back and going through the experience of a whole record, and that was how i wanted to make this album. Singled Out: John Lawton (Uriah Heep)
Today legendary Uriah Heep vocalist John Lawton tells us about the song "The Search" from the brand new John Lawton & Diana Express album "The Power Of Mind". Here is the story:

To pick a particular song from this album is difficult as they are all good in their own right...

It came down to 2 if I had to pick any from the 2 I have gone for "The Search". This track stood out for me the very first time I heard the album. I was given a copy of the album Power Of Mind sung in Bulgarian, which was where the original songs were recorded. I think it's the intro on acoustic and the change over to strings and piano...very simple but relaxing. But then into the mix is added the female vocal line very ethereal and hypnotic...And once more back to the acoustic augmented with the rest of the band...truly a great song to sing. But so are they all...

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

For our old fans, I am pretty sure it will be well worth the wait and I also think it holds great potential to satisfy a bunch of new listeners. Silverstein Releasing Concept Album
Silverstein have set a February 5, 2013 release date for their new studio album, This Is How The Wind Shifts.

The new album, their 7th studio full-length album, is a concept album that includes 14 new tracks.

Frontman Shane Told explains, "The idea of this album is how a persons life can change forever with just one event. It is the 'what if' that everyone thinks about from time to time. This album is different from a typical start to finish story concept album, or an album where all the songs have a common theme. Each track has a parallel track that tells the story in a different light, what would have happened if things were different due to a single event. The song titles of each parallel track go together, forming a sentence or in some cases two words that relate to each other and to the story. Overall, the point of this album is not to prove the existence of fate, or to disprove it. It's a discussion of life, of loss, of trial and error, of success within failure, of failure within success, of the struggle between your actions and your feelings, and how those don't always go together. This Is How The Wind Shifts is a journey that jumps around but stays cohesive, with underlying meaning and stories that have a real human meaning and cater to the soul." more on this story

Singled Out: Whispers of Wonder
Today Whispers of Wonder tells us about the song "Attempt to No Avail" from their brand new EP "The First Year," which was released this week. Here is the story:

"Attempt to No Avail" is about succeeding in spite of the people who try to tear you down. The title refers to the fact that even when people try to dog on us or attempt to belittle us they will never succeed. The song is about rising above the hate and the venom that is spewed out by so many people today.

"Attempt to No Avail" was the first track we recorded for 'The First Year' EP so it was also the first song we got to hear during pre-production the first day we went into the studio, which was definitely a mojo-booster and helped keep spirits high throughout the rest of the recording process.

Moonlight Bride Streaming New EP Online
Moonlight Bride are streaming their new EP, Dead Language, online ahead of the digital release on December 4th.

"I feel like good stripped down songwriting is becoming a lost art. Our generation is obsessed with the flash and flare of some pawn dancing around and pressing a couple of buttons and calling it electronic or dub- step. Dead Language is anti that," explains frontman Justin Giles.

Today's Day in Rock

Jimi Hendrix Track By Track Preview Of New Album
Today Jimi Hendrix would have celebrated his 70th birthday. To mark the occasion, Experience Hendrix LLC and Legacy Recordings have released a track by track preview of the forthcoming album, 'People, Hell & Angels,' which will feature twelve previously unreleased studio recordings by Hendrix and is set for release on March 5th.
Earth Blues: Totally unlike the version first issued as part of Rainbow Bridge in 1971, this December 19, 1969 master take features just Hendrix, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles--stripped down funk at its very origin.

Somewhere: This newly discovered gem was recorded in March 1968 and features Buddy Miles on drums and Stephen Stills on bass. Entirely different from any previous version fans have ever heard.

Hear My Train A Comin': This superb recording was drawn from Jimi's first ever recording session with Billy Cox and Buddy Miles--the powerhouse rhythm section with whom he would later record the groundbreaking album Band Of Gypsys. Read about the rest of the tracks here.

Jimmy Page Discusses Led Zeppelin Remasters Details
(hennemusic) Last month, Led Zeppelin manager Peter Mensch confirmed that guitarist Jimmy Page was holed up in a west London studio "remastering every Led Zeppelin LP."

Now, in a new session with Rolling Stone, Page is stepping forward to discuss the long-term project. "The catalog was last remastered 20 years ago," said Jimmy, referring to the 1990 release of the four-CD box set, "Led Zeppelin." "That's a long time. Everything is being transferred from analog to a higher-resolution digital format. That's one of the problems with the Zeppelin stuff. It sounds ridiculous on MP3. You can't hear what's there properly."

The group did not record a lot of additional songs for each LP. "But there was an overage of material – different versions of things, different approaches to the mixes," Page explained. He mentioned experiments with equipment and sound on early alternative takes at Headley Grange, the English manor where Zeppelin recorded some of their most iconic work, particularly their 1971 untitled fourth album. More from Page here.

Progstreaming is streaming the album "The Key Part I: The Prophecy" is available here, and "The Key Part II: The Labyrinth" can be heard here.

Strangers on a Train was formed in 1990 as a musical hybrid of talents comprising Clive Nolan (Arena, Pendragon, Shadowland, Caamora),Karl Groom (Threshold) and Tracy Hitchings (Landmarq). "The Key Part I: The Prophecy" (1990) is the beginning of The Key trilogy, an epic concept conceived by Clive Nolan, who also wrote all the music and lyrics. "The Prophecy" set out to be a performance album based on the strength of compositions, the skills of individual band members and a high level of emotional intensity. One could call it "chamber rock" - drawing from the roots of progressive rock, yet abandoning the unnecessary clichés that have always attached themselves to that genre of music. "The Prophecy" contains over an hour of thoroughly composed, well thought out, brilliantly performed music - sometimes haunting, sometimes soothing, versatile in style and just plain different, which makes for a unique listening experience. Strangers on a Train quickly got a faithful following and nowadays they enjoy a cult status. They have been known to be popular amongst progressive rock fans and those accustomed with Nolan's works, as well as crossing over to a wider audience, appreciative of New Age music and Cinematic soundscapes. more on this story

"Over the past few months we have been writing and demoing songs for the next album. We decided to move on, and find someone that shared the same passion to create the music that we've always wanted to make. We wish Jon all the best, and we want to thank him for being a part of this band.

"We are extremely excited to announce and welcome Matt Ares into the band as vocalist and bassist. Matt has really been a breath of fresh air for us, and in the first two weeks of jamming with him we were able to create an entirely new batch of songs and finish demoing the second album. Sixx:AM Frontman James Michael Releases New Single
Sixx:AM frontman James Michael has released his new digital single "Learn To Hate You."

"This project started as a recurring dream for me," explains Michael. "Countless times I'd wake up in the middle of the night with these ambient sounds and melodies going through my head. It didn't sound like any of the bands I was working with at the time, nor did it sound like my own band, Sixx:AM. I knew it was some kind of sign, I just didn't know what it meant. Until fans started asking me when I was going to do another solo project. That's when it hit me... My fans crave musical diversity just like I do."

Michael recorded the song at his own Red Level Three Studios in Nashville, TN; he squeezed tracking the music and recording his vocals in between producing and/or writing sessions for Kelly Clarkson, Motley Crue, Papa Roach, Halestorm, Hinder, Sixx:AM, James Durbin and a few new projects he has in development. According to Michael, "my decision to release "Learn To Hate You" now was based on how intensely creative the last couple of years have been for me. I've been in the studio non-stop producing one record after another with very little time to stop and deal with "life stuff" of my own."

The video for "Learn to Hate You," currently streaming on YouTube, was also shot in Nashville by renowned director PR Brown who has worked with many artists including John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, Prince, Audio Slave, Motley Crue and Sixx:AM. "PR Brown has an incredible cinematic eye which is evident in everything he does," observes Michael, "including his very dark and beautiful still photography. His films and videos have a way of ripping an artist out of real life and placing them right in the center of a world he has created." "From working together on Sixx:AM," Michael adds, "Brown understands the intense emotional conflict that exists in me and my songs and he captures it in a perfectly narrative way."

Kreation Records React To Warning Reissue Controversy
Patrick Walker the cofounder of the now defunct doom metal band Warning publicly criticized a vinyl reissue of their "Watching From a Distance" album and now the label behind the reissue has issued their response:

We at Kreation Records would like to clear up some of the details about the controversy surrounding our license of the excellent "Watching From a Distance" album by Warning for vinyl reissue.

Here are the facts. Cyclone Empire recently reissued the CD and we have worked together before so I asked them about licensing it for vinyl here in the U.S. They told me to contact Miskatonic Foundation, which originally released the "Watching From a Distance" LP. Miskatonic agreed to license it to us. more on this story

Singled Out: The Great Book Of John
The Great Book Of John have released their new single "Dark Star" which gives fans a preview of their new studio album that is expected to be released early next year. We break from our traditional Singled Out formula to provide a little extra background information about the song and the album:

While on tour the band spent two days at Premier Studios in New York with Paul Logus (whose credits include Blondie and Anthrax.) The marathon sessions yielded an album's worth of material including the new single 'Dark Star.' The Great Book Of John's Bekah Fox had this to say about the session:

We were right in the middle of tour so us being tight as a band is an understatement. We were also really excited about laying down the new songs that we'd been playing on stage. Something about having them and not being able to share them outside of performances can really start to wear on you. We love Paul and were over the top when we found out we would have this time with him. And then our producer, Jeffrey Cain (Remy Zero, Isidore) came, too. We hung out, played music together, and got to watch two masterminds have fun behind the glass.

Paul will be coming to work with us in Birmingham to artfully toy around with some other possibilities before we release the newest album. But Dark Star is a perfect example of where we are as a band and what we look forward to giving to those who are interested.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the band and the album right here!
