Black Sabbath Postpone Farewell Tour Dates Due To Ozzy Illness(hennemusic)

Black Sabbath have postponed a pair of Canadian dates on their recently-launched farewell tour as frontman Ozzy Osbourne has taken ill. The news came just hours before the group's January 30 show at Rexall Place in Edmonton, while Calgary's February 1 concert has also been delayed.
"Due to extreme sinusitis with Ozzy Osbourne, the shows in both Edmonton and Calgary have been postponed," announced the band and promoter Live Nation via social media. "Details regarding rescheduled dates will be announced as soon as they are available."
The next scheduled date on Black Sabbath's 6-week North American tour is scheduled for February 3 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC. The group launched its farewell tour - a.k.a. "The End" - in Omaha, Nebraska on January 20.

Osbourne's voice was shaky on opening night, according to Kevin Coffey of Omaha.com. "Singer Ozzy Osbourne's voice wasn't great," he writes. "It wasn't awful, really. It simply wasn't very good. On Wednesday, he was sometimes flat. He was sometimes pitchy, occasionally off-key. He almost never hit the notes he was looking for. It was the first show of the tour, so maybe his voice will warm up." Read more including the band's tweet here.

Guns N' Roses Filming New Video?(hennemusic)

The reunited Guns N' Roses will reportedly film a new video in London this week. A UK network called Casting Call Pro has posted an online ad for two "kidnapping bad ass chicks" (ages 18 to 26) to appear in a Guns 'n' Roses video shoot on February 6.

"2 female kidnappers take the artist hostage and set up a ransom video where the artist performs into. The 2 female kidnappers will wear balaclavas and knee length bomber jackets, which will be provided. The hostages are are kick ass gun wielding bad girls."

Original Jefferson Airplane vocalist Signe Anderson died last Thursday (Jan. 28) at the age of 74 - the same day bandmate and guitarist Paul Kanter passed away.
"One sweet Lady has passed on," wrote Jefferson Airplane co-founder Marty Balin on Facebook. "I imagine that she and Paul woke up in heaven and said 'Hey what are you doing here? Let's start a band.'"

"She was a real sweetheart with a terrific contralto voice coming from a solid folk background," posted Airplane bassist Jack Casady on Facebook. "Listen to how she made the three part harmonies of 'JA Takes Off' (first album) sound so thick … her wonderful tone between Paul's and Marty's."

"Signe was one of the strongest people I have ever met," wrote Airplane lead guitarist Jorma Kaukonen on his blog. "She was our den mother in the early days of the Airplane … a voice of reason on more occasions than one … an important member of our dysfunctional little family." Read more here.

Extended Van Halen Super Bowl Commercial Goes Online(hennemusic)

Acura have released an extended version of their upcoming Super Bowl commercial that features the 1978 Van Halen classic "Runnin' With The Devil."
The ad for the 2017 Acura NSX high-end sports car marks the first time that the California band has licensed the song for commercial use. Acura bills the new vehicle as the "only so-called supercar designed, developed and manufactured in the U.S."

"Ultimately we knew that we wanted this to be a rock song," says Leila Cesario, the national advertising manager for American Honda's Acura division. "The Super Bowl is a big American platform. It needed a big American band that screams excitement."

KISS Star Gene Simmons Grants Dying Teen's Final Wish(Classic Rock)

KISS icon Gene Simmons granted a dying teenager's wish by visiting him in his hospital bed. The bassist and singer spent time with 17-year-old Dilan Kohn at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Children's Hospital of Nevada in Las Vegas last week. Dilan died a few days after Simmons' visit, but staff have thanked him for making the youngster's dream come true.
A statement from staff at University Medical Center, where the Children's Hospital is based, says: "Last week, one of our patients, Dilan Kohn, got his final wish. The critically ill 17-year-old desperately wanted to meet and hang out with the rock'n'roll musician, Gene Simmons, from the band Kiss.

"Mr Simmons had not only been Dilan's idol, but also his inspiration growing up. Mr Simmons was sent an email request last Thursday afternoon and flew into Vegas the next morning. He showed up with a big bag full of signed memorabilia just for Dilan.

"The two hung out, shared stories and laughed together for well over an hour while staff looked on with tears in their eyes. Thank you Mr. Simmons for making this wish come true just in time.

"Unfortunately Dilan passed away peacefully a couple days later." See the online post along with photos here.

Former Dio And Rainbow Star Jimmy Bain's Cause Of Death Revealed(Classic Rock)

Last In Line bassist Jimmy Bain's cause of death has been confirmed as lung cancer. The former Dio and Rainbow man died on January 23 onboard Def Leppard's Hysteria On The High Seas cruising festival where Last In Line were due to perform. He was 68.
His bandmate Vinny Appice says Bain didn't even know he had lung cancer and that he was receiving treatment for pneumonia when he died. Appice adds: "The medical examiner report states the official cause of death was lung cancer. Jimmy didn't know he had lung cancer, but he did know he had pneumonia and was receiving treatment for it.

"This didn't stop him or slow him down, we had four rehearsals four hours a day, then a flight to Miami for the Def Leppard rock cruise. A pre-sail gig and sound check was scheduled for the following day. At the gig Jimmy played great and even sang that night while holding a heavy bass guitar on his back, never complaining or asking for help.

"Next day we preceded to board the cruise ship for a five-day voyage of which we were scheduled to play Sunday, the fourth day. That gig never happened as Jimmy passed away in his cabin the night before. We were devastated." Read more here.

Drummer Andrew Tkaczyk confirmed earlier this month that he had lost his leg in the bus crash. He also suffered several rib, hip and spine fractures. Frehley has been working on all-star covers album as the follow-up to 2014's "Space Invader." "The album's going to be about my influences," says Frehley. "I'm probably going to do a Rolling Stones song, a Who song, possibly a Led Zeppelin song, maybe a Beatles song. Stuff from bands that I grew up on and greatly influenced me. Those are the songs I'd redo, besides vintage Kiss stuff and a Frehley's Comet track."

Slash joined the guitarist in the studio last summer to help record a Thin Lizzy classic, while other anticipated guests include Lita Ford, John 5, and Mike McCready from Pearl Jam.

Frehley's first new album in five years, "Space Invader" scored a US Top 10 debut when it entered the Billboard 200 at No. 9 with opening-week sales of 19,000. See the dates here.

David Bowie's "Blackstar" has topped the charts for a third straight week as the late singer continues to dominate UK music sales in 2016. Bowie also has another 6 albums on the charts - with 18 in the UK Top 100.
The Official Charts Company reports the project is one of five Bowie albums in the Top 10, including 2002's "Best Of Bowie" at No. 3, 2014's "Nothing Has Changed" at No. 5, 1971's "Hunky Dory" climbs three places to No. 9, and 1972's "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars" jumps nine spots to No. 10.

The feat means Bowie is the first act to score five albums in the Top 10 since Michael Jackson managed six in 2009 after his passing. Enter Shikari Release Acoustic Performance Footage(TeamRock Radio)

Enter Shikari have released footage of their intimate acoustic performance at London's Alexandra Palace. The band played in front of a small audience of friends and competition winners in a secret theatre at the iconic venue. And as well as the video footage, which can be viewed below, Enter Shikari have confirmed the release of an EP called Live & Acoustic At Alexandra Palace, out on February 1.
Filmed ahead of their upcoming UK tour in support of latest album The Mindsweep, the footage shows the band performing in a seldom-seen Victorian Theatre at the Ally Pally, rather than the 10,000 capacity hall where they'll wrap up the tour on February 27.

The theatre, largely unused in this century, is hidden behind the main building. It's a 2500 capacity ornate room that has, over the past 100 years, served as not only a place of entertainment but also a haven for Belgian refugees, a BBC props store and a German internment camp. Check out the video footage here.

In July of last year, he spoke about the band's creative process. He said: "We make our own music and for us, it's just about slow and steady wins the race - the hare and the tortoise mentality." Read more here.

Avantasia Announce Ghostlights World Tour(Classic Rock)

Ghostlights features guest vocals from Dee Snider and Geoff Tate, ex-Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick, Marco Hietala of Nightwish and Sharon Den Adel of Within Temptation. It follows their 2013 release, The Mystery Of Time.

Avantasia have made Ghostlights available to stream in its entirety via Bild.de. and have also unveiled a promo for the song Mystery Of A Blood Red Rose.

Mainman Tobias Sammet, who also fronts German metal band Edguy, says: "In my humble opinion, Mystery Of A Blood Red Rose is the perfect overture to the seventy-minute journey which the full album is going to be.

"Although it's is a rather short composition compared to most other Avantasia songs, I wanted to embellish and amplify it with flamboyance and all Avantasia trademarks. I wanted to make it a detailed piece of fantasy art, but at the same time it was a big challenge to make that painting look inherently consistent if you view it from the distance." Al Jourgensen Going Pop With New Band Surgical Meth Machine(TeamRock Radio)

Al Jourgensen has inked a record deal with Nuclear Blast for his new band Surgical Meth Machine. The speed metal outfit will be joining metal greats such as Slayer, Behemoth and Lamb Of God on the independent record label.
Surgical Meth Machine's self-titled debut album was recorded at Jourgensen's home studio in Burbank, California with longtime engineer Sam D'Ambruoso. The frontman had been eyeing last September for release, but the band has pushed the date back to later this year.

The 57-year-old says of the release: "There's a couple of real poppy things on there, which brings me full circle, because, literally, I don't give a f*** anymore. So I'm actually almost acknowledging that first horrible pop record I did in 1983. I'm crooning on some songs, I've got some pop songs on there, and then there's just brutal assault for the rest of it.

"It's a very dichotomous record, but it's me, and I'm acknowledging everything that's been me through, like, the last 35 years. Let's just throw my balls on the table and hope somebody doesn't have a meat cleaver running." Read more here.

Moon Safari say: "For those who don't know about this project, we've been working on and off since late 2010 with Steve Nardelli of The Syn as co-authors, producers and musicians on this album.

"The music can best be described as a mix between the psych pop Syn sound from the 60s and Moon Safari's trademark symphonic and vocal-driven progressive rock.

"Steve's characteristic and bluesy voice mixed really well with our smoothness and we are all convinced that the resulting cuts clocking in between three and 15 minutes will make for a good listen." Read more here.

Sjoblom says: "It was one of the last songs that was written for the album, but basically I was sitting in a hotel room, just strumming the guitar and started playing the opening riff over and over and singing a melody. I think I wrote the whole thing in 15 minutes. It quickly became a favourite for me and I recorded it the week after I wrote it.

"It's about growing apart and finding your way back to someone – your partner, yourself… your guitar? I can't be sure yet what it means to me personally but I know I feel very strongly about it." Stream the song here.

"I am very fascinated by the sunny, beautiful and urban in combination with the pumping undercurrents of creativity in that city." Bloater says: "About three years ago I was looking for something therapeutic to do that would just be me in a quiet room away from the noise and hassle of everyday life. Around the same time my dad cleared out his loft and a load of Lego I had as a kid appeared.

"I was instantly fired up to do some stop motion animation, especially as a lifelong Ray Harryhausen fan. I wrote this song about a year ago and not long after Lego released their swamp series so I knew this would have to be the video for it when the time came.

"It took me about a month to do but I could have taken a year, it was so much fun." Watch the video here.

Singled Out: Conan's Revengeance

Conan just released their brand new studio album "Revengeance" and to celebrate we asked frontman Jon Davis tells us about the title track from the new effort. Here is the story:
I was sitting in a Jewish cafe in the North West and was putting together some lyrics for the album, while listening to some studio demos. I started to think about the world in which we write Conan songs in and thought more widely about the political and sock economic structure of the worlds where Conan songs exist.

I began to realize that this was probably not such a nice place to live and started using phrases such as 'Endless age so desolate, Kingless realm so desperate' as these painted a picture of a land without leadership or guidance.

In the studio we started to play around with vocal lines and realised that the lines 'All this is infinite, we rot inside of it' sounded like 'All By Myself' by Eric Carmen, we decided to take this all the way and ape that vocal harmony totally.

Def Leppard Postpone Tour Kick Off Due To Illness(hennemusic)

Def Leppard were forced to postpone Wednesday's launch of their US tour due to illness within the group. While the group did not provide further details regarding the health issue, frontman Joe Elliott was recently forced to sit out part of the band's inaugural "Hysteria On The High Seas" cruise after coming down with "severe laryngitis."
"The Def Leppard concert scheduled to take place at the Greensboro Coliseum on Wednesday January 27 has been postponed due to illness," announced the band. "A new date will be announced soon. Please continue to hold on to your tickets as tickets purchased for the January concert will be honored on the new date - no exchange necessary."

Unable to perform a January 23 show on the cruise, several rockers filled in for Elliott - including Last In Line's Andrew Freeman, Mr. Big's Eric Martin and Winger's Kip Winger - with some additional help from Def Leppard guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell. Read more here.

Guns N' Roses Reunion Lineup Speculation Heats Up With Band Exit(hennemusic)

Guns N' Roses members Richard Fortus and Dizzy Reed have announced their exit from The Dead Daisies to be part of "a momentous project in 2016."
The move fuels further speculation about the longtime players' participation in GNR's reunion tour, which to date has only confirmed the involvement of Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan.

Keyboardist Reed has been in the GNR lineup since 1990, while guitarist Fortus has been on board since 2002. Guns N' Roses will launch the reunion run with a pair of shows at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 8 and April 9 - just two days after the venue's opening on April 6.

The band will then headline Coachella on April 16 and 23 as part of the two-weekend event. Former Whitesnake and Dio guitarist Doug Aldrich has taken Fortus' spot in The Dead Daisies as they begin work on a new album in Nashville with producer Marti Fredericksen. Read more here.

AC/DC Take Preemptive Move Against Counterfeiters(hennemusic)

AC/DC have reportedly filed a federal lawsuit to block all non-authorized sales of its merchandise during their upcoming US tour. TMZ reports the band - who earned $180 million on the Rock Or Bust world tour last year - have taken the preemptive move against counterfeiters for US shows starting next week.
"Y'know, most of the those guys you see hawking t-shirts and hats outside the arena - the band's filed a federal lawsuit to get cops to shut them down," says TMZ. "The tour starts February 2 in Tacoma, and they're asking the court to launch a full scale attack - sending US Marshals and cops to the Tacoma Dome to arrest all offenders and seize all bogus goods. They're asking for the same show of force in other cities too."

The tour marks the return of guitarist Stevie Young and drummer Chris Slade to the lineup following the retirement of founder Malcolm Young and a series of legal issues faced by longtime member Phil Rudd. Read more here.

Bruce Springsteen Added Dates To The River Tour(hennemusic)

Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler Apologizes To Bill Ward(Classic Rock)

Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler has apologized in public to Bill Ward for saying that the ex-drummer had been invited to take part in the band's final show.
Earlier this week, Butler stated in an interview that Sabbath had offered Ward the chance to appear with them just before they took their last bow on The End tour.

The bassist reported: "It's been mentioned to him - but he doesn't want to do it. He wants to do the whole tour or nothing." That led Ward to accuse his former colleague of making "inaccurate statements," adding: "My management reached out to the Black Sabbath management to inquire as to whether or not they would like to discuss my participation in the tour. We were told there was no interest."

Now Butler has tweeted: "It appears Bill Ward was never invited to do a last show - my mistake. Sorry @billwarddrums." Read more here.

Iggy Pop and Josh Homme To Launch World Tour(Classic Rock)

Iggy Pop has announced he will be touring with Josh Homme in support of his latest album Post Pop Depression. He's announced a run of shows worldwide that will see the duo play alongside Homme's Queens Of The Stone Age bandmates, guitarist Dean Fertita and multi-instrumentalist Troy Van Leeuwen, as well as Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders and session man Matt Sweeney.
Iggy and Homme recently performed Gardenia on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The song is available as an instant download with pre-orders of the album. They also made Break Into Your Heart available to stream.

Due on March 18 via Loma Vista, the pair recorded the album under the cover of secrecy at Homme's remote Joshua Tree and Pink Duck studios. Iggy says: "I wanted to be free. To be free, I needed to forget. To forget, I needed music. Josh had that in him, so I set out to provoke an encounter - first with a carefully worded text, followed by a deluge of writings all about me. No composer wants to write about nothing. He got revved up and we had a great big rumble in the desert USA."

Homme adds: "This was to go where neither of us had gone before. That was the agreement. And to go all the way." Read more here.

Foreigner To Offer Fans Recordings From Unplugged Tour(hennemusic)

Foreigner will raise funds for the Grammy Foundation by offering fans live recordings of their upcoming acoustic tour via the launch of the free new app Stereocast.
Billed as "a first-of-its-kind, live-music purchase platform", Stereocast gives fans access to purchase as little as one song or the entire show for download immediately upon exiting the concert venue.

Stereocast will officially launch with the opening night of Foreigner's all-acoustic tour at The Theatre at Westbury in New York on February 11. All proceeds from purchases made on the new music app will go straight to the Grammy Foundation, which helps to provide funding for high school music programs.

"We are pleased to be partnering with StereoCast on this new initiative," says guitarist Mick Jones. "As we move into the digital age, we are always looking for new ways to make our music available in the most innovative manner. To walk away from our concerts with an immediate download of the once-in-a-lifetime moments meets that criteria.

"Furthermore, the ability to provide funds from StereoCast downloads to our high school choir partners music programs and to The Grammy Foundation's music in schools initiatives furthers a cause close to our hearts." Read more here.

Bullet For My Valentine May Release Free EP(TeamRock Radio)

Bullet For My Valentine frontman Matt Tuck says the band are working on a possible free EP to be released this year. The Welsh metal heroes released latest album Venom last year and could follow that up with a five-track EP in the coming months.
Tuck tells Kerrang: "We're planning on doing something special this year as far as music goes. It hasn't been confirmed yet, but we've been having talks about dropping a five-track EP or something, to give away to the fans."

The vocalist says the band don't want to keep fans waiting too long for new music and that an EP could be the answer. He adds: "We would just really like to have something to keep everybody going between albums. The way music has changed and the way people listen to it is king, and you have to adapt and have something to keep people going." Read more here.

Slipknot's Corey Taylor Explains Why He Won't Go Solo(TeamRock Radio)

Corey Taylor says it would be "super greedy" if he split off to pursue a solo career. The Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman says he is happy working with his two bands at the moment - but that a solo career could be on the cards in a few years' time.
He tells RockSveridge: "I've been getting questions about solo stuff forever. But it's a good problem to have. But, at the same time, I'm in two fantastic bands. Why would I ever?

"Unless I wanted to get super greedy, why would I try to split off and do something else. I'm very fulfilled by the music that I get to make with both bands. Is there a solo album in me? Yes. But it's not gonna be for a few more years."

Talking about his diverse musical collaborations with rapper TechN9ne and Finnish cello rock band Apocalyptica, Taylor also says that he wants to work with Eminem one day. Read more here.

King 810 Stream Song In Support Of Flint's Water Crisis(TeamRock Radio)

King 810 have released We Gotta Help Ourselves in support of their hometown Flint, which is in the grip of a toxic water crisis. The metal outfit have been a prominent voice for the residents affected by the lead contamination in the Michigan city's water supply, due to a cost-cutting switchover from Detroit to the River Flint in April 2014. They announced in September that they would be dropping off packs of bottled water in neighbourhoods throughout the city.
They also say a few of their own crew members have been hospitalized due to the incident. King 810 say: "Most of you by now have heard what is going on around town. Since the inception of King in 2007, our foundation has been our city and its people, good or bad.

"Since music is our voice that's how we've chosen to go about things. We wrote this song to empower. To strengthen rather than weaken. To offer solutions instead of problems. To breed hope rather than doubt." Stream the song here.

Jonathan Davis Animated For Scooby Doo-Inspired Sunflower Dead Video(TeamRock Radio)

Sunflower Dead have introduced an animated Jonathan Davis for their It's Time To Get Weird video. It was announced in August that the Korn frontman would guest on the title track for their second album, which was out on October 30.
The Long Island Rockers supported Korn on their 20th anniversary shows in the UK last year, which led them the two bands to become friends. Vocalist Michael Del Pizzo says he masterminded the concept for the It's Time To Get Weird music video based around Davis' past as a funeral home embalmer and coroner's assistant.

He says: "For this one, I took the reins by writing the video treatment. We repeatedly heard that Sunflower Dead needs to be animated. "What better way to do that than with a Scooby Doo-inspired video for our new album's title track featuring one of heavy music's most unique frontmen, Jonathan Davis? My idea was combining the SFD story line with Jonathan's past experience working with dead bodies.

"Boom, a match made in heaven brought to life by the amazing animators at Smorgasbord Productions. This is my favorite SFD video by far." Watch the video here.

Lenny Kravitz Moving Towards A 'Brian Wilson Phase'(Classic Rock)

Lenny Kravitz believes he's on the verge of entering a "Brian Wilson phase" - and it'll take form when he learns to surf in the near future. He's been inspired by life at his second home in the Bahamas to look for a new musical direction.
Kravitz tells Rolling Stone: "Last night my sax player caught a 15-pound snapper that we just threw on the grill. That's the quality of living here - pick vegetables out of the garden and fish out of the sea.

"My big decision is, which beach are we going to hang out on? When we get to the water am I going to paddleboard or swim?" He admits he's a beginner when it comes to surfing, and that he's not a strong swimmer. But he adds: "I made a plan a month ago - surfing is going to change my music. It's going to offer me something I don't have that I need to move towards."

Kravitz, who's been listening to the Beach Boys a lot recently, continues: "A Brian Wilson phase wouldn't be bad." Read more here.

Santana Talks Forthcoming Reunion Album(Prog)

Santana are to release their forthcoming record, Santana IV, on April 15. The album sees the original members of the band reunite for the first time in 45 years.
Guitar icon and singer Carlos Santana, lead vocalist and keyboardist Gregg Rolie, guitarist Neal Schon, percussionist Michael Carabello and drummer Michael Shrieve last worked together on the multi-platinum record Santana III in 1971.

Santana, who formed fusion supergroup Supernova last year with John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, says: "It was magical. We didn't have to try to force the vibe - it was immense. From there, we then needed to come up with a balance of songs and jams that people would immediately identify as Santana."

"When you can go back and break new ground with joy and determination - and some whoop-ass energy - it gets you going. I think we achieved something very rare. This music was screaming to come out of us. It wasn't about nostalgia. It was about passion." Read more here.

IO Earth Announce Family Weekender Event(Prog)

IO Earth have revealed details of a weekender event designed to entertain their family of fans. The three-day extravaganza follows a one-off show in Birmingham's Crescent Theatre last year, which featured a 14-piece orchestra and led to calls for a repeat performance.
Now the band have confirmed they'll return to the Crescent during the last weekend of May - but in addition they'll play a second show in another venue, and take fans on a bus trip to visit filming locations used for their Insomnia and New World videos.

Vocalist and guitarist Dave Cureton says: "We had an absolute blast last year and we wanted not only to make the event happen again, but to make it even better. What's better than one concert? Two concerts!

"You should expect a couple of surprises this year. We're pulling out a few songs that we've never played live before, both old and new." Read more here.

Black Sabbath And Bill Ward Dispute Over Final Show Claims(hennemusic)

The feud between Black Sabbath members over failed attempts to fully reunite ahead of their farewell tour continues. Things flared up last week when bassist Geezer Butler said that drummer Bill Ward was not healthy enough to tour behind the group's 2013 album "13", which prompted an immediate denial from Ward.
Now, Butler claims Ward has been invited to perform at the band's final US show in Phoenix, AZ on September 16. "It's been mentioned to him," the bassist tells Radio.com. "But he doesn't want to do it. He wants to do the whole tour or nothing. We'd love him to come on at the very last gig and be part of the whole thing, but he didn't want to do that. And I understand: I wouldn't want to be asked to come out just for the last gig. It's a shame, but that's the way it is."

"If he's there, he's welcome," says Ozzy Osbourne. "But I don't really want to talk too much about Bill Ward! Because every time I do, he starts getting pissed off at me! Things are quiet between us right now, you know?"

"It's a shame that Bill won't be a part of it, but whatever happened, happened," adds Butler. "It's great that at least the three of us can end it on a high note and be friends together. I still get on with Bill, I saw him last year at some award show. We got on great, we had a laugh together. It's not personal, as Bill would say, it's business."

Ward denies the invitation and has stepped up to issue his side of the story. "I must respond once again to inaccurate statements made by Geezer," writes Ward on Facebook. "I never received an offer to play the final show of The End tour with Black Sabbath. When the tour was confirmed, my management reached out to the Black Sabbath management to inquire as to whether or not they would like to discuss my participation in the tour. We were told there was no interest. That is last conversation we had with them regarding the tour.

"I will say that I wouldn't want to play only one gig when I am completely capable of touring. I would not validate their untrue statements about my health by playing only one gig. Also, I wouldn't want to show up for only some of our fans and not for all our fans when I could have played multiple shows." Read more here.

Iggy Pop and Josh Homme Stream New Track 'Break Into Your Skin'(Radio.com)

Iggy Pop and Josh Homme continue revealing what their upcoming album Post Pop Depression will entail. After appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Jan. 21 to premiere the album's first single "Gardenia," the pair released "Break Into Your Heart" Monday (Jan. 25).
Loaded with reverb, Iggy's vocals hover against a guitar riff that would make Queen's of the Stone Age proud. The song's subdued rock sound, replete with heady sustain, has a traipsing rhythm to it that contrasts the forceful lyrics.

"I'm going to break into your heart/ I'm going to crawl under your skin/ I'm going to break into your heart and follow/ Until I get under your skin/ And the wall comes tumbling down/ And you finally let me in/ I break into your heart," Iggy sings on the song.

Post Pop Depression drops March 18th. Listen here.

Jimmy Bain's Death News Leaked Online Before Family Informed(Classic Rock)

Last In Line drummer Vinny Appice has revealed the band's frustration that news of Jimmy Bain's death went online before they'd had time to tell his family.
And he's suggested some people only spread the word because they wanted to "attach themselves to a tragedy." Bain passed away at the weekend on Def Leppard's cruising festival, while Last In Line geared up for the launch of debut album Heavy Crown. He was 68.

Close friends of the veteran bassist began posting online tributes to him soon after he'd died - but that was before his relatives had been informed. Appice says: "We are very sad about the news, and in shock. The band are also saddened that the news leaked out before we were able to contact Jimmy's family.

"Within an hour and a half it was all over the internet, confirmed by people that have no business confirming anything about this, and not knowing the facts of the situation. We apologies to Jimmy's family, and Jimmy's memory." Read more here.

David Bowie's Blackstar Remains At No. 1(hennemusic)

David Bowie's final album, "Blackstar", has earned a second week at the top of the UK charts. The Official Charts Company reports the project sold just over 80,000 combined sales to maintain its hold on No. 1.
Bowie continues to dominate the charts in his native land with 8 more entries in the Top 40, including two in the Top 10: his 2002 retrospective "Best Of Bowie" leaps from 18 to No. 3, while 2014's "Nothing Has Changed" lands at No. 6.

Outside of the Top 10, 1971's "Hunky Dory" climbs two places to No. 12, 1972's "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars" slips two to No. 19, 2013's "The Next Day" moves up one to No. 24, 1977's "Low" holds steady at No. 31 and 1983's "Let's Dance" climbs 7 into the No. 35 spot.

The music icon died on January 10, just two days after his 69th birthday and the release of "Blackstar." Read more here.

Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony Share Favorite Sunset Strip Memories(hennemusic)

Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony can be seen sharing memories of the Sunset Strip in behind the scenes footage from Hagar's new AXS-TV series Rock & Roll Road Trip.
The pair teamed up at the Whisky A Go Go - where Van Halen were once the house band in the 70s - to talk about the club's legendary history. "I was in high school when Black Sabbath played their first US tour and they played here," explains Anthony. "Except that night I couldn't get in. We drove up and down and stood outside and listened."

"Rhinoceros - they were from L.A.," says Hagar. "Kind of a band that never made it but when I was coming up they were my favorite band. And I came to see them and they were opening for Steppenwolf. It just happened that I got to see Steppenwolf, too."

Hagar's 6 episode AXS-TV series sees the Red Rocker drive across the country to jam with some of music's biggest names, including Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, Bob Weir and Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson, Alice Cooper and Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell. Last In Line Tribute Jimmy Bain With Two New Music Video(hennemusic)

Dio-offshoot Last In Line has released two new music videos as a tribute to bassist Jimmy Bain, who passed away on January 24 at the age of 68. News of Bain's death came as the band were scheduled to perform on Def Leppard's Hysteria On The High Seas cruise this past week.

"A few weeks ago, we had scheduled the release of the lyric video for January 25. RIP ‪#‎JimmyBain."

Pearl Jam Help Raise $300K For Flint Water Crisis(Classic Rock)

Pearl Jam have helped raise $300,000 to help the victims of the Flint water crisis in Michigan. Eddie Vedder and co donated $125,000 of their own money to the United Way of Genesee county's Flint Water Fund.
Live Nation, the group's record label Republic Records, Universal Music Publishing Group, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, Glaser Progress Foundation, Brandi Carlile's Looking Out Foundation and Ticketmaster threw in an additional $175,000 to the pot, bringing the total donation to $300,000.

The Seattle band also kickstarted a crowdfunding campaign on Crowdrise to help Flint residents purchase water filters, bottled water, emergency support services and prevention efforts.

Flint Mayor Karen Weaver declared a state of emergency in December last year after it was revealed that a dangerous amount of lead was contaminating the water flowing into residents' homes. The city had begun pumping water from Flint River instead of Detroit in April 2014, after it underwent a temporary water supply switchover to cut costs. Read more here.

Testament New Album Plans Were Delayed By Slayer Tour(Classic Rock)

Thrash veterans Testament say only the prospect of their upcoming tour with Slayer and Carcass has kept them out of the studio. Guitarist Eric Peterson insists the band would be recording the follow-up to 2012's acclaimed Dark Roots Of Earth album if it wasn't for the mouthwatering prospect of the live dates.
Drummer Gene Hoglan is set to return for the album. Hoglan has been working with Death and Dark Angel, with his place with Testament being filled by Alex Bent.

The Slayer/Testament/Carcass trek launches on February 19 in Chicago and sees the three bands touring the States for five weeks, climaxing with a show in Las Vegas.

Peterson, the band's sole remaining original member, tells Dean Guitars: "Right after the tour we're getting in the studio and we're gonna be doing the new record.

"Basically, we would be going into the studio if it wasn't for the fact that Slayer asked us to do a tour. When we got the offer, we were like 'Slayer...' And then I saw Carcass mentioned and I was like, 'Oh my God. That's killer - maybe the record could wait a couple more months." Watch the full interview here.

Gary Holt Receives Guitar Painted In His Own Blood(Classic Rock)

Slayer guitarist Gary Holt has been presented with a guitar painted in his own blood - and he's planning to use it during the band's upcoming tour. He agreed to allow surrealist artist Vincent Castiglia to draw some of his blood after a Slayer concert in New York last year. Castiglia used it to decorate a Gary Holt Signature ESP instrument, which he handed over to the axeman at the NAMM exhibition this week.
It's the first time Castiglia has used blood on a guitar, although he's well-known for using it on other materials. He says: "I pushed it as far as was physically possible in terms of detail - the subject matter, look and feel, and functionality of the piece are all in perfect line with my work.

"It's a functional piece of fine art that memorialises Gary's life's work with his lifeblood. It was an honour to work so intimately with Gary and ESP on this project - which was literally bonded by blood." Read more and see the guitar here.

Dream Theater's The Astonishing Was Mind Blowing For Mangini(Classic Rock)

Mike Mangini says making Dream Theater's concept album The Astonishing was a mind-blowing experience. The Dream Theater sticksman also says writing music with guitarist John Petrucci and keyboardist Jordan Rudess becomes a "visual" experience.
He tells Artisan News (via Blabbermouth): "John Petrucci put together the whole thing, and he organised it in a really amazing way. And then he used our keyboard player, Jordan.

"When he plays, you see things, you see a landscape, you've got a picture in your mind. It's so visual, it's unbelievable. There really is nobody better to help bring a story to life, so you feel it and see it. It's not something I do on my instrument. So when I experience it, it blows my mind."

But the 52-year-old admits that he finds the creative process demanding at times. He says: "The biggest challenge for me was interpreting the initial music that was given to me, because there were no drums." Read more here.

Black Sabbath May Still Make Another Album Following Farewell Tour(Gibson)

For the next year, at least, Black Sabbath will traveling around the world on what's being billed as their final tour. Will a new studio album follow, once the tour winds down? Too soon to say, but bassist Geezer Butler offers a glimmer of hope, as he clarifies earlier reports that he nixed the idea of making another Sabbath LP.
"I was just being logical," the bassist tells Rolling Stone. "At the time, we were given six months to write and record an album and I said, 'There's absolutely no way we can do it in six months.'"

Butler goes on to say that once the tour is complete, such constraints will no longer apply. "There's nothing stopping us from doing another album after the tour," he says. Read more here.

Jeff Healey's Lost Album 'Heal My Soul' Preview Goes Online(Classic Rock)

A trailer has been released for Jeff Healey's 'lost' album Heal My Soul. The album will be issued via Provogue on March 25 to mark what would have been Healey's 50th birthday. Healey died in March, 2008, at age 41 after a three-year battle with sarcoma cancer.
Heal My Soul was restored and remastered under the supervision of the Jeff Healey Estate, who say the songs "capture Healey in full flight, displaying the virtuosity that made the Toronto native one of the most revered musicians in the world during his all-too-brief lifetime."

In a joint statement, Jeff Healey Estate co-Administrators Cristie Healey and Roger Costa say: "Heal My Soul is a project that we have wanted to tackle for years. A 'lost' album, it contains material recorded during one of the most creative periods in Jeff's rock career.

"Until now, it has never seen the light of day. Jeff was very proud of this work and it features some of the most powerful and impassioned performances he ever committed to record. With complete creative control we've laboured hard, tracking down recordings, identifying the right performances, restoring them to their proper stature and mixing and mastering them from the ground up.

"This has been a true labour of love for us from beginning to end and we're absolutely thrilled to be able to finally share this significant release with the world." Check out the preview here.

Simo have streamed their album Let Love Show The Way in full. All 10 track can be heard ahead of its release on January 29 (Friday) via Mascot Label Group.

"For me, the music that always resonates most is when a performance is captured. That's what I love, and that's what we go for." The Nashville trio tour North American later this month, then play Europe and the UK in April. Stream the album here.

Steven Tyler Performs New Single On The Late Show(hennemusic)

Steven Tyler appeared on CBS-TV's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Friday. The singer was on hand to announce the release of his new solo single, "Red, White & You", and to promote his organization Janie's Fund, a new initiative with Youth Villages to provide services to girls who have endured neglect and abuse.
The charity project was inspired by the feedback to Tyler's 1989 Aerosmith song, "Janie's Got A Gun", which addressed the trauma of sexual abuse in children.

Part of the campaign's launch last year saw the singer send fellow rockers like Bono, Elton John and others a version of his classic scarf-wrapped microphone stand to use in promoting the venture through social media.

Tyler hooked Colbert up with his own mic stand and proceeded to demonstrate the proper use of the stage tool. "This is my girlfriend that I live vicariously through on stage," he told the late night host. Watch the video of the appearance here.

Per Valla Launching Post Abbath Project(TeamRock Radio)

Per Valla has launched his black metal solo project Valla with the digital release of track Oceans. The former Vredehammer vocalist and guitarist began writing his own material after he quit his session guitarist role in Abbath due to personal reasons late last year - days after the departure of drummer Kevin Foley.
He says he will release more songs periodically throughout the coming days. Valla says: "The plan is to do this project a little against the current. The music business is just so messed up today and because of that I will record at home and release this on YouTube.

Classic Santana Lineup Releasing New Album(Radio.com)

For the first time in over 45 years, Carlos Santana has recorded a studio album with the lineup he used in the early 1970s. His new album Santana IV marks the first time the legendary guitarist recorded with the same band featured on his 1971 effort Santana III.
According to a press release the 16-track album will be released on April 15 and features Santana's classic line-up of keyboardist and vocalist Gregg Rolie, Journey guitarist Neal Schon, percussionist Michael Carabello and drummer Michael Shrieve.

"It was magical," Santana says of the sessions. "We didn't have to try to force the vibe - it was immense. From there, we then needed to come up with a balance of songs and jams that people would immediately identify as Santana."

The iconic guitarist adds, "When you can go back and break new ground with joy and determination - and some whoop-ass energy - it gets you going. I think we achieved something very rare. This music was screaming to come out of us. It wasn't about nostalgia. It was about passion." Read more here.

Black Sabbath's Farewell Tour Will Run Into 2017(Classic Rock)

Rival Sons are opening for Sabbath on their farewell world tour and Miley says it'll go way beyond the dates already confirmed. As it stands, the last date confirmed is in Phoenix, Arizona, on September 21.
Miley tells One On One With Mitch Lafon: "The dates go into 2017, but none of those are released. We don't even know what they are yet. I think this tour is going to keep going for a while.

"We have dates up until September. It's pretty unbelievable. It's an honour to be invited by Ozzy and Sharon to be the opening band direct support on their farewell tour."

The End tour got underway last night (January 20) in Omaha, Nebraska, and will head to Australia in April after the first of two North American legs wraps up in New York on February 25. Read more and listen to the interview here.

Iggy Pop and Josh Homme Stream Song From Secret Album(Classic Rock)

Iggy Pop has released a stream of a track he secretly wrote and recorded with Josh Homme for an upcoming album. Gardenia is lifted from Pop's upcoming album Post Pop Depression, released on March 18 via Loma Vista.
Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Homme and Pop wrote and recorded the album in secret, roping in Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders and QOTSA man Dean Fertita for sessions at Homme's Joshua Tree and Pink Duck studios. The touring group will be completed by QOTSA's Troy Van Leeuwen and Chavez bassist Matt Sweeney.

The partnership started with a text from Pop to Homme which read, "Hey, it would be great if we got together and maybe write something sometime - Iggy."

Homme tells the New York Times: "He is the last one of the one-of-a-kinds. This is a much deserved victory lap for a man who's not sure if he won. But he did. He may have tunneled underground for lots of that, but he still got to the destination."

The pair shared ideas via post before agreeing to hit the studio to record Pop's first release since 2013's Ready To Die by The Stooges. Homme adds that working on the record helped him deal with the Paris terror attacks that saw 89 people killed at the Bataclan venue where Eagles Of Death Metal were performing on November 13 last year.

He says: "I wasn't there by a stroke of fate. I guess it was my fate to be home and to bring them home. Bad things are like a sunset, they dissipate over time. But this is a long sunset. My dearest friends - how will they un-see that?

"The fact that I had this to work on, it saved me." Stream the song here.

Megadeth released a video for the title track to their forthcoming album "Dystopia" on the eve of its January 22 release. The animated clip follows the storyline established in the video for the track "The Threat Is Real."
"We had met with a guy in England, and I basically talked to him about this dystopian city that I had kind of visualized," frontman Dave Mustaine tells Mashable. "You see all these movies like Armageddon, Independence Day, 12 Monkeys, Planet of The Apes and stuff, and there's always a moral at the end of the story: If you stand up for what's right, you won't have to give in to a dystopian world.

"It's just one of those things we grew up in. Explaining that concept to the artist - I thought he got what I was saying pretty clearly." Megadeth will launch a North American tour with guests Suicidal Tendencies, Children Of Bodom and Havok on February 20 in Dallas, TX. Watch the video here.

Don Felder Tributes Former Eagles Bandmate Glenn Frey(Gibson)

Glenn Frey and former Eagles guitarist Don Felder famously had their differences, but in a prepared statement, Felder has put aside their long-standing frictions.
"Glenn was the one who invited me to join the Eagles in 1974 and it turned out to be a gift of a lifetime to have spent so many years working side by side with him," writes Felder. "He was funny, strong, and generous. At times it felt like we were brothers and at other times, like brothers, we disagreed.

"Despite our struggles and difficult moments together we managed to create some magical songs, recordings and live show. His charisma on stage was felt and loved by millions of people all over the world."

Felder, who was dismissed from the band in 2001, says he now regrets that the chance to patch things up has passed. "I have many wonderful memories of those years and the many miles I travelled with Glenn, filled with laughter, song, parties, hugs and brotherly bonds. Glenn was the James Dean of the band." "So we demoed one song called We Are The Ones, which is a real active rock. It's hard, but it's not metal. And it came out great. So we went into the studio and recorded four more songs. Dream Theater Stream New Song 'Moment Of Betrayal'(Prog)

Dream Theater have released a stream of their track Moment Of Betrayal. It's the latest song lifted from their upcoming 13th album The Astonishing, out on January 29 via Roadrunner Records.
Guitarist John Petrucci previously said the 34-track record, which is split into two acts and set roughly 300 years in the future, was inspired by today's fast-moving technology.

He said: "There's already self-driving cars that they're experimenting with. Pretty soon, we'll be looking back, like, 'Oh, remember when you used to have to drive yourself?'

"Being a musician, and since music is such an important part of my life and people that surround me, I knew that music had to be a central theme. That with all the advances in technology, how music becomes less and less important and just really easy to stream and quickly listen to a song and make something up on your phone.

"As the importance kind of went away, I thought it would be really crazy and a travesty if people didn't make music or didn't participate in the arts anymore and it was all artificial - it was all done by machines." Stream the song here.

Ozzy In The Studio For Black Sabbath's Paranoid Anniversary(ITS)

The latest episode of syndicated radio show In The Studio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the 45th anniversary of Black Sabbath's Paranoid with an interview with co-founder, singer/lyricist Ozzy Osbourne. The show sent over the following details:
The world into which the Birmingham England band Black Sabbath quickly rose to popularity in late 1970 felt increasingly like a dangerous place. Political assassinations, bombings, race riots, the Kent State College campus slaughter, and the decade-long Viet Nam war all brought Sabbath's dark haunting world vision and bludgeoning hard rock into focus.

But the beginning of Sabbath was something quite different. Ozzy Osbourne shares with InTheStudio host Redbeard the fond memories of those days when he and his mates from the working-class neighborhood of Aston decided to ditch their trendy blues music, cut the band down from a 6-piece to a four, and started doing what Ozzy characterizes as "spooky music".

Ozzy said, "I took the album home. My mum and pops have got one of these great big radiograms... I put the record on, and my father turned around to me and said, 'Son, I'm going to ask you a question and you've got to be honest to me.' I said yeah. 'Are you sure you're just drinking alcohol?' I said yeah, why, what's the matter? He said, ' This is very odd music. This is not music. This is weird.' " Stream the episode here.

Leprous Guitarist Looks Back At Band's Evolution(Prog)

Leprous guitarist Tor Oddmund Suhrke says the band's reluctance to throw away material cultivated their progressive sound. The Norwegian outfit are the latest artist to appear on FreqsTV's Into The Machine series, with Suhrke and drummer Baard Kolstad in the spotlight on the latest episode.
Suhrke says: "We learned to play music at the same time as we were evolving as a band and it took many years before it was something you would listen to.

"On the latest two or three albums we've become a lot more aware of trying to find the best way to compose music. When you start out, you're making guitar riffs and you'll never throw them away. To begin with, when you made something, you had to keep it and try to make something out of it." Read more here.
