Velvet Revolver Update From Duff McKagan
(hennemusic) In a new interview with Australia's Faster Louder, bassist Duff McKagan was asked for a Velvet Revolver status update.
As for who might fill Weiland's shoes as frontman, Duff said "I have no idea." And the group? "Um … I think it's at nowhere," he replied.
"I think everybody just kind of got sick of talking about it, because there's really no guy, so there's nothing that me or Slash or Matt [Sorum] or Dave [Kushner] could say that would change the course of this question. So there's nobody now, I think the longer that Slash is out touring, and that I'm out touring, people will stop asking as much. Maybe once it's settled down, we'll find the guy." more on this story

Lamb of God's Randy Blythe Recalls Manslaughter Arrest
Metal Hammer have released some excerpts from their exclusive interview with Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe following his release on manslaughter charges.
Here is an except: On Being Arrested Upon Touching Down In Prague "It still didn't sink in that something weird was happening with my band, but as soon as I got to the top of the ramp, the first thing I noticed was four or five really large men with guns and great pig pointy knives, pistols and facemasks. All you could see was their eyes and their mouths and they looked like they were there to apprehend a terrorist.
"After a minute this woman goes, 'Mr Blythe', and I said, 'Yes?' and she's looking at my passport, then she hands me a piece of paper that said I was to be charged with…well..we're using the term 'manslaughter' because it's the nearest translation in English. It said I was to be charged with, what I think in English would be, GBH, grievous bodily harm with malicious intent resulting in someone's death." Find out what happened next.

Black Country Communion Pull The Plug On One-Off Show

Fans To Pick Songs For Metallica's New DVD
(hennemusic) Metallica have announced plans to release a two-disc DVD set this December featuring a mix of two 2009 World Magnetic concerts from Quebec City.
Fans are being invited to vote on the setlist for the package - here's the full details from Metallica: "Happy September... we've got an early Christmas present for you! As we get ready to head back into the studio, we thought we would round out the Death Magnetic experience with the DVD/Blu-Ray release of the two nights we filmed in Quebec City way back in the fall of 2009. We were in the thick of the World Magnetic tour at that time and thought it would be cool to invite our friend Wayne Isham out to capture the shows, so while we were getting ready to film the 3D movie and all the other shenanigans we've been up to since then, Wayne and his team have been quietly editing and working with our team of next level audio engineers. The resulting two disc set will be ready in early December of this year with all the details coming very soon. However, we need your help now!"
"As we mentioned before, we played two shows... we would like YOU to pick which setlist is the main feature with the remaining songs not played in the setlist that you choose appearing later on the disc in the "extras" section." more on this story

"How it started was that Graham Leslie came to me with a cassette of songs – which shows how long ago it was! – and I thought they were really good, so I said I'd try to help his band do something," Harris recently told Classic Rock. "I ended up managing them and producing them and writing with them, although I kept that fact under wraps, to the point where even some people in the band didn't know. Anyway, when that band imploded I thought, 'Well, I've got to do something with this', because I thought the songs were so strong." more on this story
Aerosmith Found New Energy Working With Old Producer
(hennemusic) Aerosmith spoke with Fuse TV recently about making their forthcoming new album, "Music From Another Dimension."
According to Steven Tyler, the band discovered a new energy by revisiting methods that worked for them in their earlier days.
"The band has been around for 40 years [and] we found a new energy," he says. "An energy in fighting and making up; an energy in not playing forever; an energy in getting together in a room with an old producer named Jack Douglas that we could sit in there and write the songs all together like the old days. Sometimes you need a little energy to blow into the mix because it gets a little boring putting a record out, going on tour, putting a record out, going on tour….so this definitely had a whole new vibe to it." more on this story

Jon Bon Jovi Help Big and Rich's Hillbilly Jedi
(Classic Rock) Jon Bon Jovi is responsible for country band Big and Rich being allowed to call their new album Hillbilly Jedi.
He stepped in when the duo's record label told them they couldn't use the title because George Lucas had trademarked the Star Wars word. And it took just one call from the singer to turn things round.
Big Kenny Alphin and John Rich co-wrote the song Born Again with Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, during which the title "Hillbilly Jedi" came up.
Rich tells Billboard: "I don't remember who actually said it first, but I remember Jon Bon saying: 'If I ever saw a couple of hillbilly Jedis it would be you knuckleheads.' The title just kind of stuck. Find out how Jon helped make the album title possible.
Rolling Stones Ronnie Wood Years Focus of New DVD
The Rolling Stones Under Review 1975-1983: The Ronnie Wood Years Part 1 is set to be released on DVD on November 20th. Here is the synopsis:
By the end of 1974 all was not well in the camp of the group tagged 'the greatest rock n' roll band in the world'. Their last two records had received little in the way of critical acclaim, the co-songwriters and main players had drifted far apart and in one notable quarter heroin addiction was rife. So when the man who had, for the previous five years, often been seen as the ensemble's anchor announced his resignation, many fans wondered if the game was all but up for The Rolling Stones.
But those of little faith had no further need to fret once Ronald David Wood, formerly of the much loved but shambolic Faces, plugged his Fender Strat into the Stones' PA, having been offered, to rapturous acceptance, the coveted position formerly occupied by Mick Taylor, and before him, the late Brian Jones. more on this story

"Once we started working with new drummer Jay, the reunited band got back into songwriting mode quickly and almost too easily - like we never stopped. 'American Oblivion' is our very best effort yet, and sums up all our hard work since forming way back in 1988." Stream the album here

The Replacements Documentary Coming To DVD
MVD have set a November 20th DVD release date for The Replacements documentary, "Color Me Obsessed." Here is the synopsis:
Told through the eyes of fans, friends, and contemporaries, Color Me ObsesseD breaks from the traditional music documentary format of music and performances. Not looking to make a VH1/where-are-they-now style documentary, director Gorman Bechard took a unique approach, "I decided to present the band in a more iconic way," he explains. "I thought, people believe in God without seeing or hearing him but rather through the passion, faith, and stories of others. After watching COLOR ME OBSESSED, I'm pretty sure music fans will believe in The Replacements in much the same way."
Telling the band's story was a project close to the heart for Bechard. Like many who were weaned on punk music he latched onto this brash young Minneapolis band with fervor. Dubbed "the last best band" by Spin Magazine, their live shows could be miraculous or downright disasters. Their fans, unwaveringly faithful. As critic's darlings, their albums were wrought with angry guitars and passionate well-written lyrics that hinted at potential commercial success. Yet, somehow, the band managed to continually shoot themselves in the foot. Their relative obscurity was a motivating factor in presenting their story on film. "The Replacements should have been the next Rolling Stones," Bechard says, "And to the people who loved them, I think they were." more on this story

Becoming The Archetype Singled Out Week: The Sky Bearer
Becoming The Archetype released their new album, "I Am," this week and we asked the band to tells about some of the tracks. Today drummer Chris Heaton tells us about the song "The Sky Bearer". Here is the story:
When I first entered the writing process for this album, most of the songs had already been completed, at least from a compositional standpoint. Daniel had created some fabulous pre-production tracks that he sent to me in Nashville, which I was using to learn the songs and write my drum parts. At that time, there was only one song that had yet to be fully fleshed out. "The Sky Bearer."
Although the song was hardly half-finished when I received it, I could not stop myself from playing it over and over again. I had a feeling early on that it would become one of, if not my most favorite track on the record. I just love the vibe of the song. It flows in a really interesting way right from the beginning, and has a great chaotic feel that suddenly tightens up at the first "breakdown" section.
I remember hearing that part for the first time, and having to rewind it right away to hear it again. From a drummer's perspective, talk about fun!
To say the least, I was very excited to see how the song would progress from there. A few days before we entered the studio, I went down to Georgia to meet up with everyone for final rehearsals and, of course, to finish "The Sky Bearer." Daniel and Seth already had some things in mind for how the song might develop. They knew it should change gears and move into a softer middle section, so with that in mind, the three of us began hashing out ideas and trying to put something together.
It's interesting to me how certain songs reveal themselves differently during the writing process. Some songs just come out all at once, almost spontaneously, while others almost need to be coaxed into existence over a longer period of time. "The Sky Bearer" seemed like a bit of both. It sat unfinished for a pretty long while, and during that time didn't change at all. Once we started working on it again, however, it almost seemed to write itself. It didn't take long at all before the rest of the song began taking shape, and within a day "The Sky Bearer" was finally constructed.
Because drums were the first thing to be recorded, we mainly just focused on the structural and rhythmic aspects of the song at that time, so when the vocals, keyboards, harmonies, and guitar solos got added into the mix, the song really took on an exciting new life! I believe this song is a really great combination of new and old BTA sounds, and hopefully listeners will pick up on that as well.
After everything was said and done, "The Sky Bearer" definitely became a personal highlight of the album. So I suppose my original feeling was correct!
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Evanescence Planning To Take Another Break
Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee says the band plans to take another break after they complete touring in support of their self-titled album.
"I'm really not sure what I'll do next," Lee tells NME. "At the end of any really long tour you need to get your head in order. I think at the end of the run we'll go on a break for a while and figure things out."
Fans had to wait five years between the release of the band's latest album and "The Open Doors". Lee explains her view on the band taking long breaks. "Taking long breaks is seen as a bad thing, but I don't think it's a bad thing. People have the idea that you have to keep putting stuff out while people remember you. But I'd rather make something that's awesome and then make people remember again. I hope it doesn't take five years, but I don't want to put a timeline on it either." more on this story
Metallica Beats Black Sabbath For Top Metal Album Honors
(hennemusic) Metallica's 1986 album, "Master Of Puppets," has been named the Greatest Heavy Metal Album Of All Time in a new online poll by readers of Rolling Stone magazine.
Metallica dominated the poll, which launched last Friday, by taking four of the top ten spots. "Metal fans are a very passionate bunch," wrote the Rolling Stone editors. "They're also very opinionated, so when we asked them to vote for their favorite metal albums we expected a huge response. We also expected a big debate about the very definition of 'heavy metal.' Some metal fans say that groups like Led Zeppelin and Guns N' Roses are metal. Others think that's completely insane. We aren't here to settle these debates. We're merely here to count the votes."
Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" and 1970 self-titled debut took second and third, respectively; Iron Maiden's 1982 album, "The Number Of The Beast" landed in fourth, with Metallica's "…And Justice For All" rounding out the top 5. more on this story

New George Martin Documentary Released
Famed Beatles producer George Martin is the focus of a new DVD, Blu-Ray and digital video released by Eagle Rock entitled, Produced By George Martin. We were sent these details and a link to the trailer.
The documentary is a feature-length profile of Britain's most celebrated record producer. In this very personal film, Sir George talks about his childhood, his war experience and his early days as a music student. Originally broadcast to great acclaim in 2011 as part of the BBC's "Arena" series, this version contains over 50 minutes of additional interviews not included in the TV broadcast version. These extras include contributions from Rick Rubin, T-Bone Burnett, Howard Goodall, Jimmy Webb and Ken Scott.
Truly, George Martin has had a career like no other. In the early '50s, he joined EMI/Parlophone and started working on orchestral music, music for children and single handedly pioneered a range of hugely successful comedy records with Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, Peter Ustinov and others. Then, in 1962, he signed The Beatles and everything changed. Together, George Martin and The Beatles revolutionized pop music and recording techniques, forging probably the greatest producer/artist collaboration there will ever be.
Produced By George Martin features numerous classic clips of the artists he has produced, and new interviews with many of them including Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Michael Palin, Jeff Beck, Rolf Harris, Cilla Black, Millicent Martin and Bernard Cribbins. A fascinating man, and a compelling film. Watch the trailer

Metal Sidecar did a fabulous job and the app is phenomenal. You can actually access Allen's mic collection and match them with a complete range of musical instruments. You get tips on the best miking techniques and can listen to samples played by top session cats like Hal Blaine on drums." more on this story

Singled Out: Miss Anderson
Today guitarist Peter Rundh from Swedish country rockers Miss Anderson (you read that correctly) tells us about their debut single "Love For You All". Here is the story:
The first single "Love For You All" is a story about night life, that most people can relate to. It is my somewhat cynical reflection on the unwritten social rules that exist everywhere in society, and it is a reflection on how you can sometimes feel lonely even though you are among people. In the middle of all this there are individuals searching for love in life, and my main message with the song is that I hope everybody will find real love.
As a songwriter I am mostly driven by the secrets and surprises of life. I am also a philosopher who is constantly thinking about, and reflecting on, life events and personal encounters with an impact on us.
The recording took place in western Sweden's forests, as well as in Nashville, USA.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

On Monday, during an interview with Bay Area rock station 107.7 The Bone, Slash felt the need to clarify his earlier remarks.
"That was a very casual conversation with somebody on the phone in Australia that I had no idea was gonna get blown up. It became this big headline, and it was very awkward," said Slash. "I'm embarrassed 'cause I'm sure David didn't appreciate it. And my mom — rest in peace — probably wouldn't have dug it either. All it was, was they dated for a while, which is common knowledge, and all I said was there was one occasion where I happened to walk into the bedroom when they weren't fully dressed. That was it. This new version of this behind-the scenes diary of the early Stones has never been seen; Mick Gochanour and Robin Klein, the team that brought The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus to the screen, have painstakingly restored over 90,000 frames of optical screen prints and negative, going back to the original sound tapes and 3-track live recordings. more on this story

Becoming The Archetype Singled Out Week: The Ocean Walker
Becoming The Archetype released their new album, "I Am," this week and we asked the band to tells about some of the tracks. Today guitarist Daniel Gailey tells us about the song "The Ocean Walker". Here is the story:
"The Ocean Walker" was technically the first song written for the new record. I wrote the main riff over a year ago and felt like it was a really good start, but had no idea where to go with it. At that point I didn't really know what kind of songs I wanted to write for the rest of the record, but it was still early on in the game and I didn't want to force things, so I left "The Ocean Walker" alone for a little while. As time went on, and riffs from other songs started coming together, it all started to click. I figured out exactly what I wanted and how these songs should flow. I realized how dark and heavy this record was going to be, so I started reworking songs before they even really had first drafts.
"The Ocean Walker" was the first song that I came back around to, and it all just sort of fell into place. I knew that I wanted to focus more on song structure this time around, and make sure that I wasn't just cramming riffs on top of each other. I did my best to make sure that there would be recognizable sections to each song. Verse, bridge, chorus. etc. I also wanted these songs to be intricate and technical, but not so intricate and technical that it would be distracting. Most of the songs on the record have two rhythm parts and a lead part throughout. It was a lot of fun getting to add some melody with a lead over the main guitar parts, especially on this song. The lead melodies seem to mold right into the riffs and add a lot of feel to the song.
When we entered the studio to start tracking these songs and putting vocals to them, it didn't take us long to realize that this should be the opening track on the record. Things just came together so smoothly with this song and I'm really stoked with how it turned out.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

August Burns Red are streaming their new Christmas song "Sleigh Ride," on their official website.
The song is the second new track from their upcoming Christmas album: August Burns Red presents: Sleddin' Hill, A Holiday Album, which will be released on October 9th.
"'Sleigh Ride' was the last song to come together for Sleddin' Hill' and one of the trickier songs to cover due to its crazy structure and various key changes," says guitarist JB Brubaker. "The original song is all over the place and so is our version. 'Sleigh Ride' is a complete roller coaster - there is even a jazz section in the middle complete with horns. The end reminds me of a rock n roll dance party in the 1960s. I don't know what else to say - you just have to listen to it." Listen to the new song here.

Pearl Jam and Soundgarden Tour?
(Classic Rock) An Australian radio station has prompted speculation that Soundgarden and Pearl Jam are planning a joint tour in 2013, leading to double duties for Matt Cameron, who plays drums in both bands.
Radar Music believe they've made sense of the jigsaw – they suggest the only way for Cameron to be available for both tours is if they took place simultaneously. And the only thing standing in the way of Pearl Jam hitting the road was they didn't have an album to follow 2009′s Backspacer.
The station says: "Matt has confirmed on multiple occasions that he's not leaving Pearl Jam, and that he's committed to Soundgarden. If he is staying on with both, it could mean only one thing: a Soundgarden and Pearl Jam world tour.
"However we were still missing a key ingredient – a new Pearl Jam album. The tour could only take place if that was on the cares. Cue guitarist Jeff Ament confirming this month that they're half-way through, and on track for an early 2013 release. more on this story

The Man Who Walked Away From Replacing Jim Morrison in The Doors
Imagine that The Doors were interested in hiring you to replace Jim Morrison soon after his death and as you were about to meet the band members in the recording studio but you turned around and walked away from the opportunity. That's just what happened to P.J. Proby.
Finding Zoso recently conducted an extensive interview with P.J. Proby who recalls his experiences with The Beatles, The Who, Elvis, John Lennon and even having Led Zeppelin as his backing band. During the exchange, Proby confirms the rumor that he was approached to fill Morrison's shoes in The Doors. Here is what he had to say:
"Yeah I was asked to do that. I got as far as the recording studio. I was to meet everybody down in the recording studio and luckily the red light was on which meant don't enter, they're recording. In the time it took for the red light to go out, I realized that I could never ever fill Jim Morrison's shoes. I could never do a show where I go out there and pull my doo-da out or take my pants off onstage.
"I know I already had the reputation for being wild over here with the ripped pants and everything, but Morrison went all the way and I couldn't do that. So what I did was when the red light went out I thought to myself, 'You can never replace that son of a gun,' and I got in my car and drove off."

"We've not decided yet, but from what we've seen from traveling around the world is that people want to hear some new stuff," Sumner says. "Speaking to journalists and speaking to fans, they seem to really want to hear some new stuff. We won't play live as much next year, maybe half the amount we've done this year, and we'll write some new stuff."

Lamb of God Frontman's Dramatic Arrest
(Classic Rock) Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler has described the moment they realised they were in trouble as Randy Blythe was dramatically arrested for manslaughter.
The vocalist spent five weeks in jail in Prague after the band flew in for a tour date, without having been warned they were suspected of involvement in the death of fan Daniel Nosek in 2010.
"An officer explained in broken English that they were investigating a homicide. We'd been flying around the world for the last five and a half weeks – maybe something happened at one of these festivals, and they're talking to all of the bands, or someone we know might be in trouble? We never thought they were investigating us," Adler tellsMetal Insider. "Then they hand us all a piece of paper that explains in broken English about the situation that happened in 2010. They said they needed us all for interrogation, but they're taking Randy with them now. That's when it hit us. "We came in to do the session with Bruce and the hope was Jon would put on an organ solo towards the end of the day. Heart's Hunt For McCartney
(Classic Rock) In the 1970s, while musicians all over the UK were dreaming of making it to America, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart were dreaming of making it to Scotland.
Their sights were set on the remote Mull of Kintyre, the peninsula where ex-Beatle Paul McCartney lived. And when they found themselves at the top of the charts with 1987 single Alone, they also found time to chase their dream.
In an excerpt from their biographical book Kicking And Dreaming, out now, Ann tells how they arrived a week early for a European tour in order to hire a car and hunt McCartney down. Find out what happened next.

Singled Out: The Luxury
Today Jason Dunn from The Luxury tells us about the title track of their brand new album "Why Don't You Cry Anymore (Like You Used To)?" which has drawn comparisons to the sound of Oasis, The Smiths and The Cure. Here is the story:
A lot of the songs I've written have a sort of feel-good melody and rhythm with just absolutely dour and depressing lyrics, or sarcasm floating under the surface of something genuine. In this one, I was trying to marry the two.
I'd been with someone off and on for a good six years, and as luck would have it I finally hit the epiphany wall and realized she could possibly be the ONE, just a few short months after she finally gave up on me. So there was a massive blender of conflicting emotions in my own head, coming to grips with all the things I'd said and done over the years, trying to reconcile what a bastard I'd been with how much I wanted it to work out in the end.
I was a mess, and I wound up making a fool of myself, being way too intense, trying to find a balance between properly saying all the things I never really said and being an over-the-top, gushing disaster. So the song came from the two voices in my head, one believing that we were "too big and too good to fail", and the other feeling resigned that we were "guided by the great, gaping hole in our sails" - we were destined to crash regardless of how beautiful we were supposed to be together in my own mind.
The bridge, or middle bit, was a sort of acknowledgement that no matter how private one would hope this would be, there were plenty of people watching, taking sides, offering sage advice with no end game ("everyone's an expert and nobody knows"). And the chorus is just a sort of self-rebuking, sarcastic refrain - whining for someone to show some real emotion but knowing damn well that it's everything you've said and done that made them shut down on you.
All that said, it's probably the bounciest, happiest-sounding thing I've ever written.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Another Lost Year Singled Out Week: Come And Gone and The Last Goodbye
Another Lost Year released their new album "Better Days" this week and to celebrate we asked lead singer Clinton Cunanan to tell us about some of the tracks. Today he tells us about "Come And Gone" and "The Last Goodbye". Here are the stories:
Come and Gone, the acoustic track that no one thought would make the album. It was the first song that I wrote after I got out of the army. We were in the studio doing pre production and we had about 15 songs, after sorting through the songs and getting the skeleton of the album done, I felt like there was a piece missing, so I sat down with Justin our producer and started going through a few ideas, possibly writing a song, and then I started to play Come and Gone. He looked at me, told me to re write the chorus and I had 3 days to get it ready to be tracked. No pressure.
I locked myself in a room at the studio, and went to work. I had a ton of personal things going on at the time, and Come and Gone's final version was born. Pictures tell stories of times that people want to remember, good or bad, and most of the time it is telling the story of a beautiful lie, "The pictures tell the story of a life we left behind", found it's way into the lyrics.
We all have to close chapters on our life, and this was my way of closing a time that has defined who I am, but not what I am.
The Last Goodbye is a song that really is a song about my high school and college days. When I was younger all I wanted to do was be older, and now that I'm here all I want to do is go back and make better decisions.
"As daylight fades into the place, where identity is lost" is the opening line of The Last Goodbye, and at night was when I was always left with the what if's of life. I spent so much time wanting to be something more, instead of realizing what I already was, constantly running from a past that was just that, the past. I had left home for the army after college, and when I came home, I realized that no matter how much things changed around me, I was still the same.
People tend to at times constantly think the grass is always greener on the other side, when in truth, sometimes the grass is painted. "Everything thing we thought was wrong, turns on them in the end", was the best way I felt verbally could convey that things aren't always what they seem. When it all settles in the end, did you really have to run so far to find who you really are? And are all the goodbye's truly the end?
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Strangers on a Train's Albums Being Reissued
Strangers on a Train's long out of print albums will be reissued on November, 5th in Europe and December, 11th in USA.
"The Key Part I: The Prophecy" and "The Key Part II: The Labyrinth" have been remastered using tube technology and released in new digipack editions.
Strangers on a Train was formed in 1990 as a musical hybrid of talents comprising Clive Nolan (Arena, Pendragon, Shadowland, Caamora), Karl Groom (Threshold) and Tracy Hitchings (Landmarq). "The Key Part I: The Prophecy" (1990) is the beginning of The Key trilogy, an epic concept conceived by Clive Nolan, who also wrote all the music and lyrics. "The Prophecy" set out to be a performance album based on the strength of compositions, the skills of individual band members and a high level of emotional intensity. One could call it "chamber rock" - drawing from the roots of progressive rock, yet abandoning the unnecessary clichés that have always attached themselves to that genre of music. "The Prophecy" contains over an hour of thoroughly composed, well thought out, brilliantly performed music - sometimes haunting, sometimes soothing, versatile in style and just plain different, which makes for a unique listening experience. Strangers on a Train quickly got a faithful following and nowadays they enjoy a cult status. They have been known to be popular amongst progressive rock fans and those accustomed with Nolan's works, as well as crossing over to a wider audience, appreciative of New Age music and Cinematic soundscapes. more on this story
B Sides
Singled Out: Prototype
Today Prototype frontman Vince Levalois tells us about the titled track from their new album, "Catalyst," which just hit stores this week. Here is the story:
Although this is the second track from our 3rd full length CD release entitled Catalyst, a concept album, it's just the first song with lyrics. Musically speaking it was worked on for a good while, with bits and pieces put together over a few months at least. This song is a calling card for the whole album in that it's titled the same and it introduces the listener to the album's concept.
We incorporated a fast paced beginning but then contrasted a heavier verse and even more melodic chorus. We like to mix elements in a way to create smooth contrasts that eventually form the shape of a whole song that guides you through the feeling of the story.
Lyrically, I imagined the beginning of the story, which predates the existence of life on Earth, but also explains its origins. The "Catalyst" is what stimulated the basic elements in the primordial "soup" to become evolving life. Without this, life would have never existed on Earth. the Catalysts take form in large crystal stems hundreds of feet long, built by an alien race, that embed themselves into the Earth. These stems are a technological marvel and are made to analyze the composition of planets to find out if they contain the type of energy that this race needs in order to survive, and hopefully find a permanent home. The aliens are called "Unfamiliars" and are space drifters due to the destruction of their system of origin. They live on a separate "plane" from humans, invisible yet able to directly influence and affect the physical world around them.
The result here is that these probes end up enabling the beginning of life on Earth. This is a random occurrence, but it starts the path that would eventually unite humans and Unfamiliars in an epic journey.
The concept/story as a whole is a result of my fascination with science fiction, movies and science in general. I'm offering an entertaining way of imagining at how we came to be on our planet and what happens to us because of it in the future.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
