Slash Embarrased By David Bowie Comments
(hennemusic) In a recent interview with Sydney, Australia's Triple M, Slash spoke candidly about his mother's affair with David Bowie back in the day.
On Monday, during an interview with Bay Area rock station 107.7 The Bone, Slash felt the need to clarify his earlier remarks.
"That was a very casual conversation with somebody on the phone in Australia that I had no idea was gonna get blown up. It became this big headline, and it was very awkward," said Slash. "I'm embarrassed 'cause I'm sure David didn't appreciate it. And my mom — rest in peace — probably wouldn't have dug it either. All it was, was they dated for a while, which is common knowledge, and all I said was there was one occasion where I happened to walk into the bedroom when they weren't fully dressed. That was it. It wasn't anything more lewd to that." more on this story

Rolling Stones Expand Classic Tour Film
(hennemusic) The Rolling Stones will premiere an expanded version of their 1965 tour film, "Charlie Is My Darling – Ireland '65," at the 50th New York Film Festival later this month.
In 1965, Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham asked filmmaker Peter Whitehead (The Fall, Tonite Let's All Make Love in London) to accompany the band on a quick tour of Ireland. Whitehead was astonished...not only by the incredible power of the Stones' performances, but especially by the raw energy of the crowds of young people that rushed them everywhere.
This new version of this behind-the scenes diary of the early Stones has never been seen; Mick Gochanour and Robin Klein, the team that brought The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus to the screen, have painstakingly restored over 90,000 frames of optical screen prints and negative, going back to the original sound tapes and 3-track live recordings. more on this story

Becoming The Archetype Singled Out Week: The Ocean Walker
Becoming The Archetype released their new album, "I Am," this week and we asked the band to tells about some of the tracks. Today guitarist Daniel Gailey tells us about the song "The Ocean Walker". Here is the story:
"The Ocean Walker" was technically the first song written for the new record. I wrote the main riff over a year ago and felt like it was a really good start, but had no idea where to go with it. At that point I didn't really know what kind of songs I wanted to write for the rest of the record, but it was still early on in the game and I didn't want to force things, so I left "The Ocean Walker" alone for a little while. As time went on, and riffs from other songs started coming together, it all started to click. I figured out exactly what I wanted and how these songs should flow. I realized how dark and heavy this record was going to be, so I started reworking songs before they even really had first drafts.
"The Ocean Walker" was the first song that I came back around to, and it all just sort of fell into place. I knew that I wanted to focus more on song structure this time around, and make sure that I wasn't just cramming riffs on top of each other. I did my best to make sure that there would be recognizable sections to each song. Verse, bridge, chorus. etc. I also wanted these songs to be intricate and technical, but not so intricate and technical that it would be distracting. Most of the songs on the record have two rhythm parts and a lead part throughout. It was a lot of fun getting to add some melody with a lead over the main guitar parts, especially on this song. The lead melodies seem to mold right into the riffs and add a lot of feel to the song.
When we entered the studio to start tracking these songs and putting vocals to them, it didn't take us long to realize that this should be the opening track on the record. Things just came together so smoothly with this song and I'm really stoked with how it turned out.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

August Burns Red Release New Christmas Song
August Burns Red are streaming their new Christmas song "Sleigh Ride," on their official website.
The song is the second new track from their upcoming Christmas album: August Burns Red presents: Sleddin' Hill, A Holiday Album, which will be released on October 9th.
"'Sleigh Ride' was the last song to come together for Sleddin' Hill' and one of the trickier songs to cover due to its crazy structure and various key changes," says guitarist JB Brubaker. "The original song is all over the place and so is our version. 'Sleigh Ride' is a complete roller coaster - there is even a jazz section in the middle complete with horns. The end reminds me of a rock n roll dance party in the 1960s. I don't know what else to say - you just have to listen to it." Listen to the new song here.
Iron Maiden Release New Road Report
(hennemusic) Iron Maiden spent the summer bringing their "Maiden England World Tour" to fans across North America and the band have posted a US West Coast report from the road, featuring live footage and interviews with band and crew members.
The tour closely mirrors, in terms of production and content, the original 1988 concert video of the same name, shot on the "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour."
The North American trek hit more than 30 cities before it wrapped up in Houston, TX on August 18. Check out the road report here.
The Features Release Another One Video
The Features have released a new music video for their song "Another One," which you can view online.
The video was directed by Ryan Newman, and MTV notes: In an possible outtake from "Honey, We Shrunk The Rock Band," the Nashville quartet delivers the hooky track (which feels like the Talking Heads synced up with The Cars) from the safety of a mouse-sized hole in the wall until our lovelorn protagonists outsmart them and put this whole of-mice-and-men thing to bed. Watch the video here
You can also see the band on the road. They wrap up their European tour tonight in Belgium and will kick off their North American tour next week in California
