Baroness Address Fan Sexual Assault Allegation(Classic Rock)

Baroness have slammed a fan who allegedly sexually assaulted another gig-goer at their recent show in Birmingham. The band have reacted to a blog post by writer Rosie Solomon who says a man subjected her to a sustained assault at the city's O2 Institute on February 29.
Solomon says she was left feeling "shaken, angry, upset, confused" by the incident, in which a man deliberately and repeatedly thrust his groin into her leg and made a suggestive comment, before she tried to report him to security staff.

In a statement, Baroness say: "The man detailed in this article, whoever you are, if you read this post, stay the f*** away from Baroness and our audience. We don't need you at our show, we don't want you in our audience.

"We have no tolerance for sexism, or any form of intolerant or insensitive behavior. In Baroness' real, functioning touring-world, we are witness to daily proof-by-example that gender exerts no weight on the scales of capability, strength or intelligence.

"Additionally, we are extremely sensitive to the gender-disparity that can exist, especially within the world of rock and metal music and we are embarrassed and disturbed that Rosie, or anyone, for that matter, could have had such a terrible experience at one of our shows." The singer has released several new editions of The Roth Show since his online return last month after a year without a social media presence.
Roth recently made headlines with the release of a new song, "Ain't No Christmas", as speculation in some corners of the internet continues about his future with Van Halen.

The singer's management responded to the recent chatter, saying, "It's poetry. It has nothing to do with Van Halen." Roth later issued a direct response on the matter via Facebook, stating: "On second thought, if all work is autobiographic, maybe this song is about Van Halen..." Watch the episode here.

"We part ways on friendly terms and don't want any bad blood. To be honest, this has been really painful. After taking time to consider how to move forward, we ultimately found that we really do believe The Resistance can and should continue on. And so we will."

But Stromblad, who previously spoke out about his 20-year battle with depression and anxiety, has issued a counter-statement that disputes his former bandmates' version of the split.

He says he did quit the band, but adds: "I was not aware that depression was the reason. I totally admit that I'm an alcoholic and the band suffered a lot for that, but stuff happened during that time that changed my mind about lot and the direction I personally wanted to go." Read more here.

Frontman Andy Cairns says: "There's a Samuel Beckett influence on Tides. I used to live near the harbour in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland. I'd sometimes stay up all night to try to get inspiration for songs and often ended up going down to the pier and just look out at the waves. Later on, I found out that Beckett used to get a great deal of influence from that as well. I took that low point in my life and how I managed to dig myself out of it as an inspiration.

"The spark that lit the idea was a quote from his play Krapp's Last Tape," he adds. "It goes, 'Spiritually a year of profound gloom and indulgence until that memorable night in March, at the end of the jetty, in the howling wind, never to be forgotten, when I suddenly saw the whole thing. The vision at last… the fire that set me alight.' The idea was fortified after listening to Standing By The Sea by Hüsker Dü from their 1984 masterpiece, Zen Arcade." Watch the video here.

Singled Out: Night Lights' Take My HandNight

Lights frontman Mau Jimenez tells us about their single "Take My Hand" which is one of a series of singles the indie rock group plan to release this year. Here is the story:
I wrote the lyrics to "Take My Hand" at a time when I was desperate for change. I think I realized that people from our generation are discovering something inside of them doesn't quite fit with the world around us as it is. We're all unsatisfied because we have been tasked with discovering purpose in a world that doesn't sustain the dreams that call us. It hit me very hard towards the end of my college career. I didn't know what my purpose was, and I for sure didn't want to get stuck making money so I could spend my life. So I started soul searching, and mind you, I still am soul searching, but I came to some powerful realizations. I realized that if I did anything for my own sake, that it was pretty pointless. Like if I just did life for the sake of me and what I could gain from things, I'd turn up empty. So, I started putting my theory to the test and paying more attention to friends, to random people, and to my surroundings, and the more I extended a hand, the more I found the people around me were saving me from my depression and concurrently I from theirs.

So this song is kind of an ode to all the people whom have extended their hands to me, and whom are relentless in loving, forgiving, and embracing someone else in spite of all the crap they carry. As a band, were all hoping that the song inspires and reminds people of the importance of selflessness and how selflessness may in turn lead to self discovery and appreciation.
