Green Day Frontman In Rehab After Concert Tantrum
(hennemusic) Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has entered rehab following his on stage meltdown in Las Vegas Friday night.
"Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse," posted the band on Sunday. "We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances."
About 30 minutes into their set, producers notified Green Day – via teleprompter – that they had one minute left on stage, causing the group to abruptly stop playing while Armstrong addressed the situation by calling out the show's producers, flipping them a middle finger and smashing his guitar before storming off stage. Watch specific video of the incident here.
Led Zeppelin Members Avoid Answering Reunion Question
(hennemusic) Led Zeppelin members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones made a rare appearance at a London media event on Friday to promote the band's forthcoming live set, "Celebration Day" and the question of them reuniting again came up.
"Let me ask you a question," said Page when the band were first asked if they might play together again. "Have you seen the film? Did you enjoy it? Then we've done our job, haven't we?"
When a second questioner asked if Zeppelin would "do it again", singer Robert Plant replied: "With you?" more on this story
Paul Gray To Be Part Of Next Slipknot Album
(Classic Rock) The next Slipknot album will feature songwriting elements from late bassist Paul Gray, who threw the band into turmoil when he died of an accidental overdose in 2010.

Metal Star Accused Of Infringing His Own Copyrights
YouTube's race to remove copyrighted material from the streaming video site has proven to be a bit too aggressive as a notable metal star has called out the service for removing material that he posted himself claiming he was infringing on himself.
Last week Devin Townshend notified fans of the actions by Youtube via another notable website Twitter. On the 18th, Townsend Tweeted: "HA! Got a copyright infringement warning from YouTube for posting my own sh*t... AWESOME!!!! Suck it! =]"
A short time later he Tweeted: "Wow! The music industry is at war with itself! Who will win? ...stay tuned for more wacky adventures! woopwoopwoop! =] "
The following day he Tweeted: "Youtube is pulling lots of my own stuff for illegal content. So freaking weird. Get over yourself, money isn't everything."

Steven Tyler Would Return to American Idol
(hennemusic) In a new interview with E! News to promote Aersomith's forthcoming album, frontman Steven Tyler talks about how his participation on American Idol caused some drama with his bandmates and he says he would be up to returning to the show.
"We'd just come off a tour and I took Idol and I didn't tell these guys, to be fair, and they got bummed out," says the singer. "We got into a lot of ya-ya because of tumult that happens in a band. Sometimes stuff doesn't get talked out quite properly, but it always turns out as songs down the line anyway."
When asked if he would ever return, Tyler seemed totally for it...but not as a judge. "I wouldn't go back and be a judge, but I'd be a mentor," he says. "I loved the fact that you go through 700 people, and out of that, you really can pick someone that has talent, because they have to audition anyway. And I'm just grateful that Jennifer and I and Randy could pick people that wound up being so good." more on this story
Black Country Communion Feud Goes Online
(Classic Rock) The feud between Glenn Hughes and Joe Bonamassa over the future of Black Country Communion has gone public, with the pair indulging in a brief exchange on Twitter.

On Friday, Bonamassa tweeted: "I am very sorry about the Black Country Communion canceled gig. But principle still stands for something in 2012. I ready to move on." Find out what Hughes had to say.

The fame associated with the album's success led to bullying and abuse, he claims, and to him dropping out of school. The band's management say it's a matter for their record label to deal with. More rock news.

Speaking to MTV Hive, the veteran frontman said, "I'm starting to write new songs for the next Pumpkins album. I've got a lot going on. I have a title … but I won't tell. It's going to be a cruel record. Vengeance is mine."
Corgan went on to say the growing tendency of bands to dig into their back catalogs is a bad idea. "That overly sentimental culture as a new business model is really weak," he said. "I'm in my 40s, I should be making new music predominantly. I think that that expectation that's been created is really bad for people." more on this story
Current Anthrax Lineup Will Be Their Last
(Classic Rock) Scott Ian insists the current Anthrax lineup will be their last and he's heaped praise on returned frontman Joey Belladonna for powering the band's rise to success in the 1980s.
He left in 1992 and was replaced by John Bush, who led the band through what many fans feel was a same-but-different era.

B Sides
Singled Out: Dead Fish Handshake
Today Dead Fish Handshake guitarist Rob Ferreira tells us about the lead single, "Turning A Blind Eye" off their latest album, "The Sixes," which was produced by Clint Lowery (Sevendust, Call Me No One). Here is the story:
After last year's "Across State Lines", it was time to start thinking about a new record and as we compiled a song-list of both new and existing songs, "Turning a Blind Eye" was one of those ideas that came together in the later days of writing and immediately became a band favorite. The end result is slightly different than the arrangement we went into the studio with. Credit to Mr. Clint Lowery (Sevendust, Call Me No One). Working with Clint was an incredibly rewarding experience. We're a band that prides itself on not only finding the right balance of song and melody but doing it in different ways each time. That was the main focus of this new record. "Turning A Blind Eye" exemplifies that intent. With its infectious chorus, we thought it'd be a great first single to bridge lyrical substance and hook sensibility.
Lyrically, the song can be interpreted in a few different ways. It's one of those fascinating things about music - it's all relative to the listener and their life stories. Essentially, the song addresses that age-old topic of 'ignorance is bliss', what it means and how it's experienced. The failure to seize that defining moment that's presented in front of you as a result of unintentionally 'turning a blind eye' is an occurrence that we've all experienced at one time or another in our lives. They say that being none the wiser about our surroundings may sometimes be beneficial. But is it really? The passing of missed opportunities can sometimes make all the difference in our worlds. It could mean the difference between refinement or confinement. Arguably, what you don't know can't hurt you, right? But is that so or is it just an excuse to be less involved with important matters that shape our future? And does that shunning behavior contribute to our metaphorical nightmares or are we content turning a blind eye? It's a topic that you can talk in great lengths about. Sometimes all you need is a 3 minute song to set the table for hours of contemplation.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

Cameraman Insists Danzig Punch Out Wasn't A Stunt
(Classic Rock) The man who filmed Glenn Danzig being punched out by North Side Kings singer Danny Marianino in 2004 insists it wasn't a stunt.
Dan Stone says: "The two of them started talking and things got a little heated so I figured, 'Let's see where this goes.' I had no idea what was about to happen – I just imagined I'd get some footage and Glenn Danzig and Danny talking: two guys from Jersey yelling at each other. There was no intention of doing anything with it; it was just a weird moment caught on video."
Responding to Danzig's claims the video was altered, Stone says: "If you watch the video it's clearly one continuous shot. There are no cuts – that's everything." [Decibel] Watch the Video here.
Rob Halford Goes Track By Track For Judas Priest's Screaming Anniversary
(hennemusic) Earlier this month, Judas Priest released the "Screaming For Vengeance – Special 30th Anniversary Edition" package.
The project features not only the remastered original album plus bonus tracks, but also a live DVD from the 1983 US Festival show, filmed in San Bernardino, CA on May 29, 1983.
Legendary singer Rob Halford talks about the album in the track-by-track commentary below: "The Hellion" (instrumental) – "We'd never done that type of opening before. And obviously it came from Glenn (Tipton, guitars) and Ken (K. K. Downing, former guitarist) at the time. I can't really remember how it came together in the studio, was it one person? Was it collective? I don't know. But we were always experimenting, always trying to do something that we hadn't done previously. We were inspired by what Brian May was doing with a lot of the Queen stuff. We've always been big fans of Queen. But Brian was doing those same types of multi-guitar track things. As you get a bit more experienced in a band, you understand the value of setting the scene – we quickly thought, 'We can use this as an intro tape.' And we did. In terms of set-up, in terms of getting an audience's attention, it just works magically, even now, when we did it at our last show at Hammersmith – once you start it, the audience just grabs onto it right away."
"Electric Eye" – "I love the rhythmic set up on that song. Emotionally again, it starts roaring right from the opening bars. We're a metal band and if you're that sort of band it's important that you make sure you have that type of attitude and approach within your first two or three tracks. It reinforces who you are and what you're trying to do. The way that Electric Eye kicks off is very much a statement, an assertive statement… It's a really good song and I think it's just got the attitude and the in-your-face drama that Priest has always tried to put forward." Heart Discuss New Book In TV Interview
(hennemusic) Heart sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson's new autobiography, "Kicking And Dreaming: A Story Of Heart, Soul And Rock & Roll" was published last week.
The sisters stopped by CBS New York's The Couch to talk with hosts Carolina Bermudez and John Elliott about the memoir, their history, and some of the unique pressure they felt as pioneering women in rock.
"Especially in the MTV generation," says Ann, "When it first came out, suddenly women were highly objectified even more than before. It was a rapid change and I think I was at the vortex of that."
