Ozzy Hopes Not To Disappoint Black Sabbath Fans
(hennemusic) Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne spoke with a newspaper about the band's reunion album and how things are now different with the group.
"What's different now is that none of us get drunk or stoned or any of that stuff," Ozzy told The New Zealand Herald . "We're all clean, and all in control of ourselves, we're not intimidated by each other, there are no arguments, and it's the way it should be. But when we were kids we had egos. When you're 21 and you get some success it takes a while to get your head around. You have an ego, you have the spoils of success, the cars, the houses, the money, the alcohol, the drugs, the groupies, and all the rest of it, and if you go through all of that and you are lucky enough to survive you get married, you get divorced, you get married again, and it's a journey."
"But we've done it all so what it boils down to now is the music," explains Osbourne, "and that's what got us where we are in the first place. We have come through the other side, we're still able to work together, and that's where the enjoyment comes from. It's been a lot of fun making this record."
"It's been more than 30 years since I really seriously worked with the guys," adds Ozzy. "We had a try a few years back but nothing came of it. But for some reason the timing is right and we've done about 15 songs. Black Sabbath is very unique in the respect that nothing is formulated. It's very unpredictable. I just hope the people who have waited all these years aren't disappointed." more on this story

The idea of making a solo album was first encouraged by her husband, Blackmore's Night co-founder Ritchie Blackmore. "I had so many lyrics, so many ideas backing up," Night recently told Newsday, "and I came to Ritchie and said, 'I need more music. Give me more music. I want to put these to songs.' And he just looked me and said, 'Come up with the music yourself because I'm kind of busy with what I'm doing.' And I had never thought of that before. I really love listening to records front to back and going through the experience of a whole record, and that was how i wanted to make this album. Singled Out: John Lawton (Uriah Heep)
Today legendary Uriah Heep vocalist John Lawton tells us about the song "The Search" from the brand new John Lawton & Diana Express album "The Power Of Mind". Here is the story:
To pick a particular song from this album is difficult as they are all good in their own right...
It came down to 2 if I had to pick any from the 2 I have gone for "The Search". This track stood out for me the very first time I heard the album. I was given a copy of the album Power Of Mind sung in Bulgarian, which was where the original songs were recorded. I think it's the intro on acoustic and the change over to strings and piano...very simple but relaxing. But then into the mix is added the female vocal line very ethereal and hypnotic...And once more back to the acoustic augmented with the rest of the band...truly a great song to sing. But so are they all...
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

"They can either move on musically where you don't even know who the guy was on the first record, or you have a band that is so happy about sounding the way they sound that they don't have this need to change too much. I have a need to change but I do it with the melodies and I do it with songs but, as you hear, it's the same guy singing." more on this story

"After a very long time of hard work, this album is finally ready for release. We couldn't be more happy with the way it turned out and I really think it is the best Kongh material so far. For our old fans, I am pretty sure it will be well worth the wait and I also think it holds great potential to satisfy a bunch of new listeners. In my opinion, the album is more dynamic and has much more emphasis on melodies than our previous works. At the same time it maintains the harshness and it's undoubtedly the heaviest slab of metal we've done as well." Stream the new song here.

Silverstein Releasing Concept Album
Silverstein have set a February 5, 2013 release date for their new studio album, This Is How The Wind Shifts.
The new album, their 7th studio full-length album, is a concept album that includes 14 new tracks.
Frontman Shane Told explains, "The idea of this album is how a persons life can change forever with just one event. It is the 'what if' that everyone thinks about from time to time. This album is different from a typical start to finish story concept album, or an album where all the songs have a common theme. Each track has a parallel track that tells the story in a different light, what would have happened if things were different due to a single event. The song titles of each parallel track go together, forming a sentence or in some cases two words that relate to each other and to the story. Overall, the point of this album is not to prove the existence of fate, or to disprove it. It's a discussion of life, of loss, of trial and error, of success within failure, of failure within success, of the struggle between your actions and your feelings, and how those don't always go together. This Is How The Wind Shifts is a journey that jumps around but stays cohesive, with underlying meaning and stories that have a real human meaning and cater to the soul." more on this story

Singled Out: Whispers of Wonder
Today Whispers of Wonder tells us about the song "Attempt to No Avail" from their brand new EP "The First Year," which was released this week. Here is the story:
"Attempt to No Avail" is about succeeding in spite of the people who try to tear you down. The title refers to the fact that even when people try to dog on us or attempt to belittle us they will never succeed. The song is about rising above the hate and the venom that is spewed out by so many people today.
"Attempt to No Avail" was the first track we recorded for 'The First Year' EP so it was also the first song we got to hear during pre-production the first day we went into the studio, which was definitely a mojo-booster and helped keep spirits high throughout the rest of the recording process.

Moonlight Bride Streaming New EP Online
Moonlight Bride are streaming their new EP, Dead Language, online ahead of the digital release on December 4th.
"I feel like good stripped down songwriting is becoming a lost art. Our generation is obsessed with the flash and flare of some pawn dancing around and pressing a couple of buttons and calling it electronic or dub- step. Dead Language is anti that," explains frontman Justin Giles.
"We've had the idea of doing this sort of b-side compilation for awhile now," says Giles. "It's a group of songs we recorded and always liked but just didn't seem to fit with the material that we've been putting together for the new album."
Moonlight Bride is currently working on their new full-length LP which is projected to be released late next year. Listen to the EP here.

Jimi Hendrix Track By Track Preview Of New Album
Today Jimi Hendrix would have celebrated his 70th birthday. To mark the occasion, Experience Hendrix LLC and Legacy Recordings have released a track by track preview of the forthcoming album, 'People, Hell & Angels,' which will feature twelve previously unreleased studio recordings by Hendrix and is set for release on March 5th.
Earth Blues: Totally unlike the version first issued as part of Rainbow Bridge in 1971, this December 19, 1969 master take features just Hendrix, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles--stripped down funk at its very origin.
Somewhere: This newly discovered gem was recorded in March 1968 and features Buddy Miles on drums and Stephen Stills on bass. Entirely different from any previous version fans have ever heard.
Hear My Train A Comin': This superb recording was drawn from Jimi's first ever recording session with Billy Cox and Buddy Miles--the powerhouse rhythm section with whom he would later record the groundbreaking album Band Of Gypsys. Read about the rest of the tracks here.
Jimmy Page Discusses Led Zeppelin Remasters Details
(hennemusic) Last month, Led Zeppelin manager Peter Mensch confirmed that guitarist Jimmy Page was holed up in a west London studio "remastering every Led Zeppelin LP."
Now, in a new session with Rolling Stone, Page is stepping forward to discuss the long-term project. "The catalog was last remastered 20 years ago," said Jimmy, referring to the 1990 release of the four-CD box set, "Led Zeppelin." "That's a long time. Everything is being transferred from analog to a higher-resolution digital format. That's one of the problems with the Zeppelin stuff. It sounds ridiculous on MP3. You can't hear what's there properly."
The group did not record a lot of additional songs for each LP. "But there was an overage of material – different versions of things, different approaches to the mixes," Page explained. He mentioned experiments with equipment and sound on early alternative takes at Headley Grange, the English manor where Zeppelin recorded some of their most iconic work, particularly their 1971 untitled fourth album. More from Page here.

Strangers on a Train Reissues Streaming Online
(MMP) Two long out-of-print albums from Strangers on a Train are set to be reissued in the U.S. on December 11th and right now fans can stream both albums in full.
Progstreaming is streaming the album "The Key Part I: The Prophecy" is available here, and "The Key Part II: The Labyrinth" can be heard here.
Strangers on a Train was formed in 1990 as a musical hybrid of talents comprising Clive Nolan (Arena, Pendragon, Shadowland, Caamora),Karl Groom (Threshold) and Tracy Hitchings (Landmarq). "The Key Part I: The Prophecy" (1990) is the beginning of The Key trilogy, an epic concept conceived by Clive Nolan, who also wrote all the music and lyrics. "The Prophecy" set out to be a performance album based on the strength of compositions, the skills of individual band members and a high level of emotional intensity. One could call it "chamber rock" - drawing from the roots of progressive rock, yet abandoning the unnecessary clichés that have always attached themselves to that genre of music. "The Prophecy" contains over an hour of thoroughly composed, well thought out, brilliantly performed music - sometimes haunting, sometimes soothing, versatile in style and just plain different, which makes for a unique listening experience. Strangers on a Train quickly got a faithful following and nowadays they enjoy a cult status. They have been known to be popular amongst progressive rock fans and those accustomed with Nolan's works, as well as crossing over to a wider audience, appreciative of New Age music and Cinematic soundscapes. more on this story

Diamond Plate Replace Jon Macak
Diamond Plate have replaced frontman Jon Macak with vocalist and bassist Matt Ares. The band sent out these comments:
"Over the past few months we have been writing and demoing songs for the next album. During that time, we felt that the chemistry between Jon and the rest of the band wasn't as strong as it needed to be. We decided to move on, and find someone that shared the same passion to create the music that we've always wanted to make. We wish Jon all the best, and we want to thank him for being a part of this band.
"We are extremely excited to announce and welcome Matt Ares into the band as vocalist and bassist. Matt has really been a breath of fresh air for us, and in the first two weeks of jamming with him we were able to create an entirely new batch of songs and finish demoing the second album. Matt's voice and playing add new dimensions to our sound, and we can't wait for everyone to hear the band now. Thanks for always supporting, and keep your ears open for a new Diamond Plate record in 2013!"

Sixx:AM Frontman James Michael Releases New Single
Sixx:AM frontman James Michael has released his new digital single "Learn To Hate You."
"This project started as a recurring dream for me," explains Michael. "Countless times I'd wake up in the middle of the night with these ambient sounds and melodies going through my head. It didn't sound like any of the bands I was working with at the time, nor did it sound like my own band, Sixx:AM. I knew it was some kind of sign, I just didn't know what it meant. Until fans started asking me when I was going to do another solo project. That's when it hit me... My fans crave musical diversity just like I do."
Michael recorded the song at his own Red Level Three Studios in Nashville, TN; he squeezed tracking the music and recording his vocals in between producing and/or writing sessions for Kelly Clarkson, Motley Crue, Papa Roach, Halestorm, Hinder, Sixx:AM, James Durbin and a few new projects he has in development. According to Michael, "my decision to release "Learn To Hate You" now was based on how intensely creative the last couple of years have been for me. I've been in the studio non-stop producing one record after another with very little time to stop and deal with "life stuff" of my own."
The video for "Learn to Hate You," currently streaming on YouTube, was also shot in Nashville by renowned director PR Brown who has worked with many artists including John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, Prince, Audio Slave, Motley Crue and Sixx:AM. "PR Brown has an incredible cinematic eye which is evident in everything he does," observes Michael, "including his very dark and beautiful still photography. His films and videos have a way of ripping an artist out of real life and placing them right in the center of a world he has created." "From working together on Sixx:AM," Michael adds, "Brown understands the intense emotional conflict that exists in me and my songs and he captures it in a perfectly narrative way."
Kreation Records React To Warning Reissue Controversy
Patrick Walker the cofounder of the now defunct doom metal band Warning publicly criticized a vinyl reissue of their "Watching From a Distance" album and now the label behind the reissue has issued their response:
We at Kreation Records would like to clear up some of the details about the controversy surrounding our license of the excellent "Watching From a Distance" album by Warning for vinyl reissue.
Here are the facts. Cyclone Empire recently reissued the CD and we have worked together before so I asked them about licensing it for vinyl here in the U.S. They told me to contact Miskatonic Foundation, which originally released the "Watching From a Distance" LP. Miskatonic agreed to license it to us. more on this story
Singled Out: The Great Book Of John
The Great Book Of John have released their new single "Dark Star" which gives fans a preview of their new studio album that is expected to be released early next year. We break from our traditional Singled Out formula to provide a little extra background information about the song and the album:
While on tour the band spent two days at Premier Studios in New York with Paul Logus (whose credits include Blondie and Anthrax.) The marathon sessions yielded an album's worth of material including the new single 'Dark Star.' The Great Book Of John's Bekah Fox had this to say about the session:
We were right in the middle of tour so us being tight as a band is an understatement. We were also really excited about laying down the new songs that we'd been playing on stage. Something about having them and not being able to share them outside of performances can really start to wear on you. We love Paul and were over the top when we found out we would have this time with him. And then our producer, Jeffrey Cain (Remy Zero, Isidore) came, too. We hung out, played music together, and got to watch two masterminds have fun behind the glass.
Paul will be coming to work with us in Birmingham to artfully toy around with some other possibilities before we release the newest album. But Dark Star is a perfect example of where we are as a band and what we look forward to giving to those who are interested.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the band and the album right here!

Aerosmith's Tom Hamilton Cancer Free
Aerosmith guitarist Tom Hamilton says in a new interview that he recently learned that he is now cancer free.
Hamilton spoke with Backstageaxxess.com earlier this month to promote the band's current tour and new studio album, "Music From Another Dimension". During the interview Hamilton discussed working with Jack Douglass again and his cancer battle. Excerpts of those parts of the conversation are below:
Backstageaxxess.com: You were diagnosed with throat cancer back in 2006 and battled with it since then. Where do you stand with it today and how are you feeling?
Tom: I'm feeling really good! I'm cancer free as of 5 days ago. (Editor's note: this interview was conducted on Wednesday November 14, 2012). I had it 2006 and had it again in 2009. The doctor who treated me in 2009 said "Listen, I can help you in a way that is going to preserve your way of life, but you're going to have to come in here a lot afterwards for a long time!" I was completely fine with it and I said sign me up! I go in there about every 2-3 months. I get looked at by having the doctor put a scope down my throat. It's a nerve racking process but I don't have to worry about it for another couple of months and I'm feeling great!
Backstageaxxess.com: "Music from Another Dimension" is the latest offering from Aerosmith and their 15th studio record. Jack Douglass, who produced some of Aerosmith's classic records "Get Your Wings," Toys in the Attic," Rocks" and "Draw the Line" was back at the helm to produce this record. How did Jack get involved with the band again?
Tom: There was always a desire in the band to investigate working with Jack again. He helped us learn how to use the studio and have fun in the studio back in the 70s when we were making "Toys in the Attic" "Rocks" along with a few others. Then we drifted apart and had been out of touch for years and years. Then Jack surfaced again and started coming to shows and doing certain projects for us. Then we developed this desire "I wonder what it would be like to go back in the studio with Jack?" Should we try it?" "What do you think?" About 2 years ago we had a moment where it was 100% unamanious [sic] and everyone was into it and Jack was available. So we pulled the trigger on it. It was a great decision. What Jack does well, that many producers don't do well, is to be a coach. This band works very well when we have great coach. We also did some work with Marti Frederiksen, who did some song writing on the record and he is also a producer that we worked with for years. He came in and lent his expertise too. Which we greatly appreciated! The interview covered a lot more ground, read it in full here.
Jeff Beck Jams With The Rolling Stones At London Concert
(hennemusic) Jeff Beck joined The Rolling Stones on Sunday night in London as they played the first of five arena dates for their 50th anniversary.

Motley Crue Firing Almost Led Singer To Suicide
Former Motley Crue singer John Corabi told a concert audience how his firing from the band led him to consider suicide.
Corabi was an acoustic tour and told fans at a London concert the story, according to a transcription by Ultimate Classic Rock. He said that when he went to what he believed was a recording session he was informed "We love you. But unfortunately the record company are not going to support this version of the band. We have to let you go because we're bringing Vince [Neil] back."
He also shared his reaction to the firing. "I went out and I got into the brand new sports car I had just bought, like, four weeks before," he continued. "I opened up the glove box, I pulled the gun out, and I stuck it in my mouth. But I didn't load it – so that was okay."
He was then dealt another blow. You can watch video of him telling the story here.
Kid Rock Revisiting Devil Without a Cause For 15th Anniversary
Kid Rock will celebrate the 15th anniversary of his multi-platinum album 'Devil Without a Cause' by re-recording the tracks.
"Some of them will be exactly like they were and some of them will have the sensibilities of what we've learned playing those songs live for 15 years," Rock tells Billboard. "I'm not going to say they're going to be better than the originals; that's tough to top. But I think there's something special about them that people will dig. They're going to be the way a lot of people have seen us play these versions live, whether it's 'Bawitdaba,' 'Cowboy,' 'Only God Knows Why,' '...Bullgod,' 'Welcome 2 the Party' "...We've twisted them up so much to where it's very interesting, very cool."
He also thinks the new version of 'Wasting Time' could be a huge hit, "I think we'll have a monster single with the way we're doing 'Wasting Time' now,' without any of the samples and stuff," he says. "I think that could be a really big song. It's just really cool." That might not be the only way he will celebrate the anniversary.

Downstait Delay Tour Kickoff Due To Illness
Downstait were forced to delay the kick off of their headlining tour due to illness. The band canceled the first three dates of the trek which were to take place this weekend.
The group has issued the following statement regarding the health of bassist/vocalist, Sean Arata: "It is with great regret that we have to pull out of the Shreveport, LA (11-23), Houma, LA (11-24), and Houston, TX (11-25) shows. Sean is currently running a fever of 103. This proves to be a particularly huge problem for us as we are currently traveling and sleeping in a Toyota Sequoia, so we'd all undoubtedly end up sick as well.
"Our live show is very important to us and Sean plays a very large part, vocally, to the band's live sound. We'd hate for anybody to feel cheated at a Downstait show by an inadequate performance. We hope to make it up to everybody planning to see Downstait at these shows very soon and we apologize for any inconveniences this has caused." more on this story

Video From Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Kick Off Goes Online

Special guests included former bandmates Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor plus guitar hero Jeff Beck and R&B superstar Mary J. Blige. Wyman joined the Stones for "It's Only Rock N' Roll" and "Honky Tonk Women", while Taylor stepped in for "Midnight Rambler." The 69 Eyes Release Borderline Video
The 69 Eyes have released a new music video for their track, "Borderline," which comes from the band's latest studio album, X.
The video, shot in New Orleans, La. with acclaimed producer, Patric Ullaeus, starts with a scene in which the local vampire tour legend Lord Chaz draws five X's on the crypt door of the Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau's resting place in Saint Louis Cemetery #1. "Easy Rider's" famous psychedelic scene was also filmed there.
Commented lead vampire Jyrki9, "It's like our 'Love Me Tender' - a soft, timeless ballad. But it also has that dark, mystic Southern vibe (some said 'True Blood'), so naturally we had to go to Louisiana to shoot the video! Mark Twain's books, Elvis, 'King Creole,' 'Easy Rider,' blues, jazz, voodoo, vampires - so many reasons for The 69 Eyes go to N'awlins. We've played there twice; I've hosted two DJ club nights there called "Fangtasia" over the last two summers. The leading rock/metal video director of these latter days, Swedish Patric Ullaeus was also interested in coming to NOLA to make this masterpiece, so all was set for it! The mid-October was perfect for a long-lost weekend in the South.

Today's Day in Rock
Perfect Time For Velvet Revolver Reunion Says Scott Weiland
Scott Weiland wasn't shy about his feeling about reuniting with Velvet Revolver in a new interview. In fact, he was very enthusiastic about the prospect and makes it sound like it is on the horizon.
Rolling Stone caught up with Weiland to discuss his busy plans for 2013 and when the topic turned to the possibility of his reuniting with Velvet Revolver, he had this to say, "I am completely open to it, and I know there are other guys in the band that are completely open to it. There have been some things that have stood in the way that aren't anything that have to do with the band – just other players, whether it be agents . . . But now we're sorting through things, and we want to start writing for some big film opportunities that have come our way, and try to set things up the way we set things up when we initially got together."
"I think it's the perfect time for Velvet Revolver to get back together," Weiland said. "Slash has done some great things, and I look forward to the opportunity to seeing him on my left and seeing Duff McKagan – who, in my opinion, is without a doubt one of the greatest rock'n' roll and punk rock bass players of all time. "And is still in amazing shape – is more ripped than just about any 25-year-old on the planet. And with Matt [Sorum] and Dave [Kushner] as well, who are just incredible musicians. I think that's exciting to look forward to. It's the old cliché, 'If the gods of rock want it to happen, then it will.'" Read the Rolling Stone report for more details.
Led Zeppelin May Have Continued Without Robert Plant
Jimmy Page confirms in a new interview that Led Zeppelin did want to carry on following the 2007 reunion show captured on their new DVD, and when Robert Plant was too busy, the other three members looked at other singers.
Jimmy Page tells Rolling Stone in their current issue that he, John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham continued rehearsing together in early 2008 after Robert Plant turns his focus to his other projects. "We didn't do any professional recording," says Page. "We just had a little digital recorder. I thought it was good. I wasn't going to walk away from it. But the weakness came up again. It was, 'We gotta have a singer.'"
Page didn't list the singers they tried out in the interview but it's been reported that the list included Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler. The report on the magazine's website about the interview says that Page didn't deny rehearsing with Kennedy and followed with this quote, "It sounded premature," he says. "I could see what way it was going. Various people thought we should go on tour. I thought we needed a good, credible album, not do something that sounded like we were trying to milk the O2." Read the Rolling Stone report for more details.

After spending 15 years with Turisas behind the kit, original member, Tuomas "Tude" Lehtonen, has decided to part ways with the band. Lehtonen explains the reasons behind his decision: "I can't tell you how hard it feels to step away from the path we've been walking together for the last 15 years - and to start a new era in my life without the band. There are many reasons for me to quit the band. The stress from the years spent on the road and different artistic visions have lead to a mutual decision for me to step back and hand over the drumsticks to the next guy. In any case, it has been a great experience and all the memories from being on the road are something that I will always cherish. The biggest thanks go to all of the past and present members of the band, not to forget all the technicians and fellow drummers I've met on shows and on tour - and, of course, especially to all the fans that have allowed us to grow to the level that Turisas are at today. Good luck and lots of success to all my bandmates - I feel that I will never be straying too far away from the band. I shall always be proudly carrying the heart of Turisas wherever I go. The man can leave the band but the band will never really leave the man. Battle Metal!" more on this story

"It was truly an honor to direct the new Nile video; a band with so many diehard fans and such a strong impact in the metal scene," commented Simvonis. "The video concept, as a matter of fact, was inspired by the culture and the ritual habits of the Ancient Nubia, a region along the Nile River, which is located in northern Sudan and Southern Egypt. The research and design elements of the video led to a really interesting combination of the Ancient Egyptian myths, through the prism of the Nubian African Voodoo Burial rituals. Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell Angry About Erroneous Divorce Story

"If something is in print, does that automatically make it true? It's been reported that I'm filing for divorce and seeking joint child custody. That much is true. However, it was also erroneously reported that I'm seeking to deny spousal support when in fact, that couldn't be further from the truth."
"Those who know me will attest that I'm going out of my way to be as generous and accommodating as possible to my ex," he continued. Rolling Stones Release Doom And Gloom Video

The group filmed the footage behind closed doors in a Paris warehouse. Like the character in the movie, Noomi plays a punk wild child who not only joins the Stones performance, she also goes in for some rather splendid rock n roll /trash the place type behaviour… all in the best possible taste.
While the Stones play "Doom And Gloom," the actress goes into meltdown in one crazy sequence after another. Watch the video here.

The Who's Pete Townshend Explains Inspiration For His Windmill
(hennemusic) On a day off from The Who's current tour, Pete Townshend stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday to talk about his memoir and share some legendary stories, including the origin of Pete's famous windmill.
"We were a little R n'B band… and we supported the [Rolling] Stones on two shows; they were brand new, they were young, they had one hit with Chuck Berry's 'Come On,'" explained Townshend. "As the curtain opened, Keith Richards is kind of doing this (demonstrates windmill move). I thought it was part of his thing."
"Anyway, a couple of weeks later," Pete continued, "we support them again at a little club out in south London, and I'm watching carefully – waiting – and he doesn't do it. So, I go up to him afterwards and I said, 'Keith, you didn't do your arm swing thing.' And he went, 'What?' I said 'you know, that kind of windill-y thing…you know, your thing.' I can't tell you what he said. So, I picked it up…and I was inspired by Keith Richards in many ways." See video from his appearance here.
Chris Cornell Shares 'Sad' Recollections of Guns N' Roses Tour
(hennemusic) Soundgarden are doing a lot of interviews to promote their newly-released album, "King Animal." While speaking with Vulture.com about the new effort, singer Chris Cornell was asked what his recollections were of touring with Guns N' Roses back in 1991.
"Without saying anything negative about Axl [Rose], what I remember the most was Duff [McKagan] and Slash and everyone else being regular, sweet, warm guys in a rock band that just wanted to play rock music," recalls Cornell.
"And then, like, there was this Wizard of Oz character behind the curtain that seemed to complicate what was the most ideal situation they could ever have been in: They were the most successful and famous rock band on the planet. Every single show, hundreds of thousands of fans just wanted to hear songs. For some reason there seemed to be this obstacle in just going out and participating in that. That is what I remember the most. It's sad." more on this story

Singled Out: No Place For Heroes
Today Will Maurer from No Place For Heroes tells us about their new single, "Girls Want Bad Boys," which the band is offering as a free download! Here is the story:
We recorded this song during January 2012 in Paris. The point was to get back to the basics and we wanted to introduce our slightly more 'rock' sound that was also based around an electronic music format. The recording was done with the same team as the first album and we tried some new things with our sound, introduced new effects, and the end result is a good preview of what's to come.
The story behind the lyrics is basically tragicomical. It's about a guy who is so obsessed with impressing a girl that he finds himself in a ridiculous situation, being chased by the police after having robbed a bank, just because girls want "bad boys". It's based on a true story that took place in 2011 in the US. A man had robbed a bank in order to spoil his girlfriend and got 5 years in prison. The writing process for the lyrics was redone 3 or 4 times, and we finished the final version the night before the recording in a little Parisian apartment at 2 in the morning... I guess it was the most rock'n'roll version thanks to those conditions!
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and grab the free download right here and you can learn more about the band here.

"There is a mathematical formula to why you got famous. It isn't some magical thing that just started happening. And it's going to move exponentially throughout your career as you grow, or can decline exponentially if you start to fail as an artist."

Aerosmith Tour Reportedly In Chaos
www.antimusic.com
Aerosmith's current tour is reportedly in chaos after the band's first album in a decade, 'Music From Another Dimension,' only sold 65,000 copies its first week.
Page Six have report based on two unnamed sources, which states that the band members are "barely speaking to each other." But a band spokesperson has denied the claims.
The New York Post gossip page said that one unnamed source told them, "The band isn't really talking. Aerosmith's record came in fifth after Taylor Swift ["Red"], 'Now That's What I Call Music: Volume 44,' Rod Stewart's 'Merry Christmas, Baby' and Ne-Yo's new release ["R.E.D."]. Pretty bad for their first release in a decade. No dates on the current tour are sold out."
And another source told them, "Tyler is very unhappy about the reception of the album, and is blaming Columbia." However, a spokesperson from the band did tell the paper that "Aerosmith is doing great and on tour and on fire. Any claim to the contrary is absolutely false."
