(RTTNews) - Roberto Aguirre-Sacassa, the writer behind the book for Broadway's "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark," has reportedly signed on to write a remake of the 1976 thriller "Carrie." The film is based on Stephen King's book of the same name.
The remake will mark the second collaboration between Sacassa and King, as the pair previously connected for a graphic novel of King's "The Stand." According to movieweb.com, the project is under the umbrella of MGM Pictures, though the studio has not yet announced any details. Sissy Spacek starred in the original "Carrie" film alongside Piper Laurie, Amy Irving, William Katt, Betty Buckley, Nancy Allen, John Travolta and P.J. Soles. It originally hit theatres on November 3, 1976 and was directed by Brian De Palma.
